I only buy stuff with gems that I know what I will get. Not this money sink through online gambling.
For one thing, getting one shot while you requiring to hit the enemy 100 times is not a display of effective difficulty. It’s just annoying.
Nothing new will be introduced until we get out of this beta testing phase. Yes, it is not over yet.
pretty funny I say. Now I can see in my chat box: “That stupid guardian got me killed because he stacked all those boons on me.” Now I can run around applying my symbols just to tick others off lol. Heck, we should get a grim reaper outfit for that purpose.
What would be the role of AH guardians now? Kinda pointless if the extra healing is simply cancelled out by the extra damage dealt by boot hate.
I think the mechanic should just be that it ignores the protection boon instead of penalizing every boon. It defeats the purpose of guardians.
They should have just made a separate game for PvP. “GW2:VS” This whole PVP balance thing is just getting ridiculous.

because as soon as you allow a heal specialist, it opens up pandora’s box of the holy trinity.
seriously, I don’t know why this is such an issue. Most mobs have moves that have a charge time, when you see it, dodge. Just play the game as intended. You can finish this in like 5min
Anet should just give pvp players a separate game called “GuildWars: VS” and put them on a completely segregated server.
And for the ones that sooo loves to just explore, “GuildWars: Atlas” where there is no leveling, no loot, no way points, no DE, just you and your buddy traversing the maps singing the smurf theme.
seriously, how lazy are people. just play some events in orr and you’ll get majority of the dailes done.
While everyone is hacking away at the vet, I clear out the normals first. Vets are not worth killing. I get better loot from killing 3 normal mobs than one vet. sad.
when they “adjusted” the orr drops in the latest patch of the patch, they rolled back the drop rates to pre-patch. So in essence, nothing changed. That one day was a dream come true though. It was like you saw the light at the end of the tunnel, and then a risen does a “get over here!” and pulls you back in. well, at least that was fixed.
+1 for no fractals and WvW
Lol enough with the kool-aid. This game is good, but far from perfect.
- DR overhaul.
- Abilities such as magic find are now shared by a group until the player is no longer in the party. The highest level on a single player will be party wide, non stacking.
- Tie in loot drops to specific bosses, areas and events to give players direction in their hunts.
- Remove the ability to sell Precursers and Legendary weapons while making them easier to obtain.
- Kicks in Dungeons would be part of a report function if player was still online, and in same instance/zone to prevent griefing.
- Alliances, Alliance chat, and Alliance halls that would function as a hub with a free waypoint would be added.
- Daily and monthly would focus around areas in pve, and wvw and not kill types or general task. (such as assist the people of " insert area" as a daily- or Helping a Npc in WvW capture or defend certain objectives)
- Adjustments to make builds within all classes viable by adjusting weaker weapons or skills.
-Equipment added to help build diversity in ascended range to cover several armor types.
- Make all ascended gear craft-able.
- Redesign mystic forge -100% chance for a new set of items requiring mastery in multiple craft disciplines, as well as Gear upgrading. This change would give the ability to upgrade an armor to the next tier using Multiple Crafts plus materials or create new items unique to the Forge that require mastery in 2-4 craft disciplines.
- Improve the search and party search ability to have a comment section and be cross server.
- Re-introduce the “design a weapon” contest, offer exclusive private beta test spots for new content to Helpful and active members of the game community to insure new content was ready and enjoyable.
- Add an ambassador system so current players could be rewarded for helping new players with content.
I would hire you in a heartbeat.
Puged about 10 or 12 dungeons since patch went live, didnt find any problems , what is this fuss about ?? O.o
you got lucky. bring some blue equipped novice players and let the horror begin. dungeons are now reserved for elite players.
The explorable dungeons are supposed to be “face meltingly hard”, people gotten used to mindless playstyle and not learning the fights and even mechanics of their classes properly, hardly can you put all the blame on the developers in my opinion.
But those devs also made the open world game so easy as not to have it make you a better player. Devs did very little to prepare you for the difference. So yes we can just put it all on them.
Would anyone mind sharing a link to solid builds for doing dungeons?
Dungeons now will be heavily be based on survival. Since enemies tend to randomly gain hate, you are generally going to have to spec for maximum toughness. Use omnom pies to supplement heal. But in order to use the pie effectively, you will need to spec for crit%. Guardians are going to be welcome more than ever for their defense support. Since you no longer can rely on rez, staying alive will be of utmost importance.
the way anet is changing the dungeons calls for more specific strategies at not dying. They will need to implement roles such as hate control, defense support, damage dealer, healing support, etc. gee, sounds like the holy trinity to me.
This first step broke dungeons. let’s hope they fix it with the next step. Until then, people should avoid dungeons.
one thing for sure is that I get way more large moldy bags, and have gotten 3 armored scales, a dye, and some ori last night. Also got 2 rare drops for some ectos. thought it was way better than before.
I also think the weapon skill is too boring. You are basically locked to the same set from the first levels of your character. Would be interesting to bring a system like the “Tales” series from Namco for weapon skills. So much more customization, but not overwhelming.
I feel 80 is enough, especially with the scaling. No such things as getting stronger to complete a lower level event. What I want is more versatility with the traits, utility, and weapon skills.
anet clearly does not want to redo the 25stack system with CD, so they are trying to weed out that population. Nor do they want people tanking or healing others.
as more ascended gear comes out, that marginal difference will add up to be a significant advantage. The current state, the game will be squeezed into 2-3 types of builds.
I don’t know what “play” means to people for this game, but the dodging and healing one will come naturally if you “play” the game. Go back to FB if you are looking for a social media.
The underwater one? go farm some armored scale at frostgorge and you’ll get it in no time.
you’ll get the dodge and the heal achievements if you just normally play. wonder what I will get today…
wait, I currently do more damage per hit with my banner than my exotic axe. does this Weapon stats now apply to bundles, actually mean a nerf? not like it matters since the attack speed is so slow but… banner 4 does pretty good dmg on crit.
c-c-c-c-c-combo breaker!
from what I read here, what do these dailies have to do with making barren areas populated once again?
weird… have been getting dyes left and right. I got maybe one dye from one week of play before, but got like 8 last week… Did my curse lift?
guys relax, I’m sure anet has a test server that they first deploy the patch to, then test every single changes that they did. How hard can that be?
there is nothing to discuss about unless at least the release notes are out.
For champion level mobs, the drops don’t even come close to the amount of time and effort put in. Last time I did the melandru event, i got three blues from the large golden treasure box. I can get that from killing normal mobs in less than 5min. That level of an enemy should at least guarantee a rare gear.
As someone who was very concerned about the initial deployment of Ascended gear, I have to say that this update sounds very promising. I like the direction that ascended is headed per this announcement. Plus, dungeon improvements are well welcomed.
Particularly, the laurel system sounds like a good implementation of limiting the speed at which one can acquire gear without making that gear acquisition overly grindy. I like the theory that someone with only 30 to 60 minutes available per day can keep up with the gear curve.
I hope it plays out as well as the design philosophy sounds.
I have this bad feeling about these “achievements” though.
They should make hearts repeatable once a day and make those part of the achievements.
well, what else can you add so people will keep playing? More skins? sooner or later anet will have to raise the level cap as they add new expansions, and along with that will come higher tiers. Mark my words.
I have to agree Jammy, this is the ONLY mmo i’ve ever played where my maxed lvl crafter cannot gather the mats in time to make a guildmate armor b4 they outlevel it 10 levels.
Another competing b2p forever game is benefitting from Anet’s DR here atm as that’s where this households per month on gems is going.
Keep in mind this may also be the only MMO you’ve ever played where it takes about the same time to go from one level to the next instead of an increasing amount of time per level. You level faster in this game, so no, you won’t have nearly as much time to gather mats before you out-level an intended mid-level armor for example.
So a lvl 80 400 crafter can’t make a lvl 30 guildmate some armor. Tell me do you think this is a crafting system that’s working ?
Why can’t you? If you’re a 400 crafter you can make anyone practically anything, just need the mats. There’s the AH, you can buy them, or better yet… have your friend gather the bits and pieces he needs for you.
The problem with that is, by the time that player gathers the mats to have someone make it, his/her level will be way past its effective use.
The entire game is designed around the basis of consuming gems, so DR will never ever be fixed. Live with it.
how about making the other weapon choices have better weapon skills so we stop seeing GS on every warrior I come across.
Except that buying from the tp is getting more and more expensive, due bad drops.
The trading post has gotten stupid!!!! If one purchased all the required materials (Well those that are purchasable) rather than spending months farming, what would Sunrise cost in real world to make with the current price of things…$1000+perhaps Dawn alone was 510 gold last time I checked… which is roughly $510 since money to gold is nearly at 1:1. How long would it take for an average player to collect 1000 gold in game? I’m not talking about the single 20ish somethings who are content to spend every waking moment playing the game, grinding the same events over and over again, I’m talking about the majority of us who also have real lives to live. Months and months, perhaps over a year or longer. Considering I average less than a gold a day, quite often substantially less, with the current drop rates, I will never be able build a legendary. Cost/drop-rate/time simply won’t allow for it. Before the drop nerf, one could get a legendary with a fair bit of work, however, getting the required stuff is so expensive/difficult that a legendary is essentially impossible for most of us. I had when games put in impossible tasks.
Anyone know if mystic clover return rate has also been nerfed?
welcome to the MMO, where you need to ruin your real life to be successful in in-game life. GW2 tried to change that, but look at where its starting to head. In order for a company to be successful, it requires its customers to sacrifice their lives. They found a formula to get more people to buy stuff with real money, and they will not give it up. Mark my words.
As an old saying goes, “Nothing is scarier than free”
(edited by Asumita.2174)
I agree, that they need to do a MAJOR content/goal overhaul in the open world. They have an amazing gmae world no one plays in because it’s not “end-game” oriented. they need to find a way to get players back into the world & playing the content instead of doing dungeons..
sadly, that is impossible with the direction this game decided to move towards.
Killing two birds with one stone. Accomplish getting rid of the bots, and force people to use the gem store with real money at the same time. And people are dumb enough to buy into it. Currently, it is faster to just sell random stuff and buy the things off TP than to farm them. We have hyper-inflation due to that, and anet is banking from that. Nothing will change unless people stop being sheeps.
To sum it up, the only weapon viable in pvp is GS. LB Condition build is great for PvE where mobs tend to gather up. The fire dmg eats them up pretty good.
It is virtually impossible to do story mode these days.
I sometimes want to travel around the world to just do random things and help ppl, but the cost dissuades me from doing that. Isn’t world exploration one of the main selling point of this game? FYI, the cost is killing it.
they might even give you jems with a proof of purchase of products from their sponsors.
So you basically grind for better looks, but not how effectively you kill/survive. There will be gear improvement. It has to for the game to survive in the long run. Same with the level cap increase. It will happen. mark my words.
Anet, how about fixing stuff that is currently BROKEN. Fan of fire, fast hands, etc.
with no subscription fee, they gotta make money elsewhere. Unless you want advertisement bill boards all over the map… Or Jormag’s Claw holding a coke bottle and drinking it, life replenish. Oh wait that might make people hate coke.
Because of that, anet has no choice but resort to rogue tactics to get more people to use jems. They are a business after all.
great, along with the loot nerf, now they will make the node respawn like an entire week.
you know something is wrong when all you see in the chat box in Lion’s Arch are Fractal and dungeon shouts.
Wanted to add. When I use any abilities that grant swiftness the jumping seems to work fine
So they added a new trait to swiftness: “Jumps become more accurate”
We’re looking into this now. Thank you for the reports!
Don’t look, fix.
You made jumps are way to important in this game for “looking into”.
There is no need to assess anything. It is clearly broken. Just roll back this hidden feature in this patch.
