Yep, one issue I hope they stand their ground on. The PvE players who have now invaded WvW for rewards have had nothing but rewards and constant content for nearly 5 years while the only new thing WvW got was a map no one likes and reward tracks after 3 years of asking for WvW to give us some kind of rewards.

Here’s the thing you forget about those “PvE” players and their content. You’re not locked out of any of it, even though you make it sound like you are. In fact, you can easily make progress towards ALL their content without leaving WvW, with the exception of HoT legendaries and raids. None of their content requires you ~2 years of constant grinding of the same repetitive content. They are already forced into your content to make their precious legendaries and more.

You also fail to account for new players who are trying to get into the game. Do you think these players will think well of the game when they see the JRPG grind involved for something they want? No, they won’t. There’s a reason why Aion failed extremely hard when it was initially released within the first few months. JRPG grind is not fun.

Your logic behind why a horrifically thought out requirement shouldn’t be changed is pathetic and riddled with personal grudge at best. If you really cared about the game and the game mode, you’d want it to be more inviting of other players – not drive people away.

Also, can we stop with the segregation? WvW rank is essentially PvE. Majority, if not ALL, of the people sitting at extremely high rank abused EotM k-trains before it was nerfed. I’m also willing to bet that majority, if not ALL, of the players tooting their horns with illogical grudge filled reasoning (I spent so and so number of years playing, so it’s fine) are all from higher tier servers, or spent server hopping in the past to those higher tiers. People at underpopulated and lower tier servers have a MUCH harder time gaining ranks…and if you think they don’t, then you’re fooling yourself.

ANet’s mistake in this case was they made the decision based on the players’ state in higher tiers. They failed to account for new players and those in lower and underpopulated tiers when they came up with the requirements. It is infinitely easier for players in higher tiers to meet the requirements compared to others, unlike in “PvE” or raids. There are far too many external factors that hinder your progress. Personal skill plays an extremely minimal role in your progress.

It’s very nice for all you K-trainers or Eotm abusers, but for scouts or non-zerglings it is far from ok.

It applies to new players, and those players stuck on lower tier and lower population servers as well. The requirement isn’t even skill based as magnetite shards for example are.

This is as bad as the AP grind…actually it’s worse cause at least AP grind makes you do different things. This is just plain monotone grind.

It’s actually upsetting to see the elitism from players like OP, who more than likely abused EotM farm before the nerf, and chooses to be ignorant about a poor implementation because of it.

I’m personally sitting at a bit over 3k rank myself; but, I’m not shameless enough to pretend I did not grind EotM for a month or so before it was nerfed.

I still say 1k is the perfect number. At that point you have maxed everything and it can serve as an end reward. 1k rank is also something that takes more than just some casual play to achieve, but at the same time is not completely unreasonable either. It is also a mark that veteran players roaming, new players, and players on underpopulated servers can work towards without signing their lives away.

You realize that what they managed to do is basically turn off those serious WvW players who would do the little jobs that ensured victory, right? All they managed to do is incentivize blobbing.

Also, I’m not buying your nonsense about 900 in 20hrs.

Majority of the people tooting their horns and acting like elitists about the whole thing earned majority of their ranks from EotM farm before it was nerfed.

Ahhhhh right of course i must be one of those people, except i have over 28.5 AP. I was as high as top 700 on the AP Leader Board. I have fallen greatly since more HOT stuff comes out and im not a fan of the HOT system.

This is a picture of my PvP at the end of S5, didnt play much of S6 though i was still in gold 3 playing goof ball builds.

This next pic is of total PvP matches.

Lastly if you read my comment i have not played WvW much of all since HOT. I can prove im 900 and i can prove im T5 on WvW AP and i did most of my playing before rankings once i finish up loading this patch.

What is the point of this post? It has quite literally nothing to do with what I said. Did you just want an excuse to post your screenshots that mean absolutely nothing?

Don’t worry; it’ll down out in the next few days once people realize what kind of jrpg grind ANet introduced.

Perhaps the claim ticket cap per week is to stop people from keeping the worlds full all the time. People might be driven to cap out and do something else.

Trust me, it’ll die out for other reasons beyond that.

Sure the carrots are nice, but when the carrots feel like they are unreasonably out of reach people will stop caring.

So, all the rage in map/team chat and here about “PvE players” are all meaningless. You’ll have the dead game mode back shortly.

That’s really sad… I love PVE but I also love WvW and I don’t want it to die down. I don’t know if the rewards are unreasonably out of reach though. It’s literally just a waiting game. The biggest hurdle is the time gating but the rewards are something that any player can get if they put in the time. No need to get a group or want to get a guild so it should be relatively EASY, just also very time-consuming.

People in smaller servers or under-performing servers will have the worst time and the longest wait. It’s simply a bad implementation. Comparing this to raids for example, raids have a strict time gate that is set in stone and only affected by your personal skills. WvW time gate is, for one, extremely unreasonable, highly volatile, unbalanced, and heavily influenced by external factors beyond your own control.

Also, those people trying to validate the unreasonable restriction are simply being tunnel visioned attempting to justify it by claims of them playing WvW since day one. They haven’t even bothered to consider the impact on potentially new or recent players – this is extremely important especially because an expansion is on the horizon.

I’ve stated this in other threads already, but I’m sure I’ll get someone questioning me here; so, I’ll say it here. I am personally unaffected by the unreasonable restriction of 2k rank (I have over 3k). However, I am not going to pretend that this implementation was good. It is bad…and excessively unreasonable – I can’t stress this enough. I actually feel bad for people who have to grind through to 2k, especially if they are new.

It does not motivate me at all to recommend the game to an external party. Especially when I am well aware of their disgust toward jrpg grinds. In fact, it is disappointing to me to see anything like this or excessive AP grind rewards. There’s nothing attractive about them when the requirement are so unreasonable. One does not validate the other. They’re both bad!!

I’m confused.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/updates-to-world-vs-world-skirmishing-and-rewards/

Tier 3 Armor

In addition to Tier 2 armor, you’ll be able to earn Tier 3 Mistforged Triumphant Hero’s armor in this release. Tier 3 armor is the ultimate prestigious WvW armor, and it will require you to have earned both Tier 1 and Tier 2 to acquire. Each piece requires a very high WvW rank to purchase. However, unlike Tier 2, this ascended armor will not require any crafting to earn.

But looking at the skirmish vendor on the wiki https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Skirmish_Supervisor#Mistforged_Triumphant_Ascended_Armor it shows Mistforged Triumphant Hero’s (armor piece) requiring grandmaster marks to purchase. Grandmaster marks can only be obtained by crafting and are account bound when you get them.

Is the wiki wrong? Or is the armor in the list here a different type than what was mentioned in the dev blog? The dev blog clearly said “will not require ANY crafting to earn”.

Wiki could be wrong as they may have just copy and pasted.

All ascended armour and weapons use these tokens. These changes were rolled out couple of months ago in an effort to make the costs for acquiring them similar to crafting ascended as a whole.

Read the article linked.

Ah, I see what you’re referring to now.

I believe T3 takes only memory of battle and tickets if I recall right. I can check when I’m home and then post about it unless someone else can check first. If that is the case, then the wiki is wrong.

Erm, you make claims, big claims. It will be foolish for me to take your words at face values blindly. You said 3k ranks, legendaries blah blah blah, how much is that is real. Hiding behind an supposedly alt account and telling me that there are people in my guild join your raid group doesn’t make your claim any more credible, in fact, more questionable about your intentions.

How much of what you said is really about standing up for newer players I wonder.

I did read your comments in entirety, literally. However, since you have yet to acknowledge the fact that there are wvwers that do not want to do raids or pvp but want to get the mentioned legendaries, you are disregarding them while typing your post. I ask you this, did you ever made a thread or comment about that for raid and pvp? If you haven’t, that’s double standard in itself. Therefore, I question your intentions as well.

Furthermore, the 2k requirement is for wvw armor skin, not even back legendary. Getting all upset about that is ridiculous.

You’ve already Sherlock’d my comment history and account; so, you should know this answer already. If you don’t, then you need to work on your investigatory skill. The answer is well embedded in my comment history.

You may read as much as you want, but you clearly have a problem with comprehending it. I’ve already repeated myself for you; but, I’m not going to continue doing so.

If you would like, I will gladly come post another screenshot for you with the chest piece and legendary back once I have acquired both in a few weeks (ticket time gate) just so you can feel like a colossal idiot at that time. Let me know if you’d prefer that.

With that said, I’m going to go ahead and stop responding to you now because it is in my best interest to avoid responding to someone who is so willfully ignorant.

EDIT: Oh, while at it, I think this is a good time to let you know that you have been on my block list in game for quite some time now. So, not only do you make an impression here, but clearly you made an impression in the game as well at some point in time in the past. All the more reason for me to avoid interacting with you.

WvW ranks have been in the game for about 5-6 years, plenty of time to get the rank 2000 required

The problem here goes beyond just the atrocious requirement in place. The problem includes player’s mentality, like yours.

Sure, there’s players who grinded EOTM during its glorious period or grinded WvW since day one, but that does not validate a poorly implemented and thought out cost.

You’re basically wanting to exclude newer players, or players who do not enjoying spending their days in WvW/EOTM only, from achieving something unless they spend half their life in a game that is already nearly 5 years old.

Do you think this is something a new player would enjoy? I HIGHLY doubt it. If anything, it will turn them away. Playing catch-up on achievement points is bad enough, let alone locking skins behind something that takes A RIDICULOUS amount of grinding in a mode they may not even enjoy. This is borderline a JRPG grind.

It’s counterproductive for MO to ask vets who enjoy the game to recommend it to potential new players, while introducing something like this in the game.

It is pretty double standard since your post history shown no complain about legendary armor tied to raid or legendary pvp backpiece tied to spvp. If you want cheat codes then play single player game.

It is not.

Legendary armour does not exclude new players, and it certainly does not take as much time dedication to acquire it. It does require skill and practice, but it does not require pure grinding. It takes an approximate 12 weeks to acquire a full set of legendary armour, and only because of weekly time gate.

Do not confuse the two simply because you, yourself, may find raids difficult. The two are by no means the same. Nobody is asking for the skins to be made available elsewhere. People are asking the prices to be made more reasonable, and fairly so.

I have all of them (legendary backpacks from sPvP and Fractals, as well as legendary armour)…and I have over 3000 rank; and you know what? I will also have the legendary backpack from WvW. I am unaffected; however, unlike you, I’m simply looking at a bigger picture than being tunnel visioned and letting my unjust emotions drive my decision and opinion on the matter.

Oh? I will list one main contradiction you have wrote in black and white.

You said “or players who do not enjoying spending their days in WvW/EOTM only”, that can easily apply to sPvP and Raid. It doesn’t sounds “untunnel” vision for me, it also doesn’t sound calm, certainly doesn’t sound justifiable.

Also, why are you using an alt account to make a post?

….or you can read the comment in its entirety more carefully (without becoming so sensitive about it) and understand that spending time in something you may not enjoy to acquire something you want is perfectly fine, as long as it’s reasonable.

As for why I’m posting from one of my many accounts, it’s simple: you don’t need to know my other accounts. I don’t need you or any other person that may disagree with me whispering me or stalking me in game. It is evident that you already attempted this based on your questioning. All you need to know is people from your guild joins my group to get their raids done, almost weekly.

You need to unlock the Triumphant armour box through the reward track, then choose the item you want, you can then start working towards the T2 set, im not sure what mats you need after unlocking that you can work towards the T3 armour which requires a wvw rank of 2000

Eww, 2000? That seems excessive for freaking ascended gear.

Ascended gear with “particle effects”……

You can get the normal Ascended WvW without 2000 rank.

2000 is still an atrocious amount to try lure in players from other game modes, which will only make them dislike the game mode even more than they already do.

1000 would have been a far more reasonable amount.

You mean, its atrocious for you. Those of us who have been playing wvw see that as a very low entry amount.

I have over 3000 rank. Less assumptions are nice.

Good for you. You should rethink what is ‘reasonable’ as there was no reasons given other than throwing out a number.

I hope legendary armour is NEVER accessible outside of raids. It’s a proper endgame content with a proper reward. Take it out and people have no reason to improve themselves…again.

Personally, if ANet caters once again to the playerbase who refuses to improve their personal skill and wants everything handed to them by making the legendary armour available through different means, I will be quitting the game in a heartbeat.

They have been catering to these players for years now, and for once, it seems like they are taking a different approach. It’s a welcome change, and something they should continue to work towards. The playerbase will never improve if all ANet does is cater to their whining the moment they introduce something slightly difficult.

False!!

What’s hurting the game is them constantly catering to players who want to put in no effort to improve themselves and be rewarded for it, for the past 4 years.

They are moving in the right direction now, where they are challenging players to improve themselves and really “level up” in various ways.

The current JPs are in fact brimming with more imagination and planning than a lot of the older ones.

Third party DPS meters and game hostility...

Asur.9178

It’s sad we need to install third party programs to gain the information we should have in game. As for hostility and elitism, that exists whether there are DPS meters or not. There should be metrics for people to judge how well the members of a team are performing. If you can’t handle elitists and people being mean to you, perhaps you’re playing the wrong game.

^ case in point"if you aren’t playing my way or the way i like. you are playing the wrong game.. that is what the OP was talking about..that should not be the mentally of any mmo . i hate self-appointed elitist..i hated them in gws 1 ..and still don’t like that mind set. it huts the game, it hurts new players, it hurts creativity of builds and playing styles. that mind set will kill a game faster then anything else..

+1. raiding or speed run + meters = this kind of nasty attitude where its ok to be mean to people, the ends justifies the means which is to say its more important to clear an instance than it is to enjoy playing and supporting people.

then the raid should be changed..all players should be able to play all content..without special tools..no voip, no 3rd party tools, no special builds or special armors..the game and content should stand on it’s own..i didn’t need that junk for gws 1 and i owned like a boss in that game.

Here’s a shocking thought that you didn’t consider: make and lead your own group!

If you are so persistent on joining others’ group then get used to being able to pull your weight. Else start making your own groups and stop your whining.

What you essentially want is someone to hold your hand AND not get upset at you when you don’t do what you’re told…like a spoiled little brat. Grow up!

It’s such an exploit that they don’t like it, which is why they designed it in the same fashion as HS, which is also dependent on camera angle. /s

Well in PvE AA is normally a better option outside of Steal into a weakening Charge……

Because you have to look straight down and stop targeting your enemy to make it actually hit them.

Which is the point of this post. The ability does not function well. It needs to be changed to be more usable.

You’re wasting your time.

I have SO many problems with medium armour on males, even excluding the atrocious head piece.

Clearly more work was put into the female than the male. I’ll let the screenshots explain them.

Also, please make the particle effects more noticeable. It’s a joke right now, and the way the armour pieces dye is horrible.

Dagger Storm is so underused that even the devs and the B A L A N C E team forgets that it exists…along with many other heal/utility/elite skills and traits.

That’s just thief btw…there’s also Balanced Stance for warrior, for example.

Condition build literally sacrifice nothing.

That’s factually untrue. Condi bunkers sacrifice as much as PVT builds do.

Might want to read a third…perhaps a fourth and fifth time until it sinks in.

Might want to think a bit about what you wrote as well. Condi application (which affects condi damage) is as affected by quickness and alacrity as power damage is.

There’s nothing to think about. Read carefully next time; if needed, go run your own tests.

Power DPS HEAVILY relies on near, if not 100%, quickness and alacrity uptime. This means, outside of raid instances with good chronos, condi VASTLY outperforms power – condi outperforms power in nearly all encounters as is.

You will have to excuse me here, but where is power inherently better with Quickness or Alacrity than Conditions.

Applying 1,5x as many conditions deals exactly 50% more damage, too.

Ah, I just re-read, and there’s more factual errors in your post. Nevermind in that case, figured you’re just bitter.

There’s some underlining factors that are cause for major concern when it comes to condi. Some of these include:
1: Condi really scales off of 2 stats – to be honest, it’s really 1 stat because condi application is just that rampant.
2: Power scales off of 3 stats – there’s no way around this.
3: Condi ignores armour.
4: Power is heavily influenced by armour.
5: Condi damage ticks following application are not reliant on external forces.
6: Power damage ticks are heavily reliant on external forces – quickness and alacrity.

Having said that, this has been mentioned for years and ANet has paid no attention to it. So, don’t expect any changes. Balancing has been and will likely continue being terrible.

It only took two years to make the first one. So it’s completely feasible for them to just up and redo everything now. I mean such a simplistic task, why wouldn’t you ask for it. And of course, if they did do it, it certainly wouldn’t open the door to every Tom, kitten, and Harry expecting their oh so simple requests be honored every time.

One of the worst armor skins in-game…

Though I agree with you, it is highly unlikely that they will fix the skin.

However, I am hopeful that they will address the particle effects, which has lead me to make this poll to try get them to address it.

Which is more Legendary?

Since the choice is between A, with some detailing, and B, that shows the unimaginative long coat that is the hallmark of gw2’s medium armor with a muddy color scheme with nothing standing out to catch the eye, then I guess it will have to be A.

Sadly, the colour scheme I used is the only one that brought out the particle effects in my eyes. I just lost interest in finding brighter colours when the particle effect is so underwhelming. Another reason why I am hoping they address it.

Things to watch out for before deciding to go on the offense: resistance, blocks, endure pain spam, stability spam.

The problem is they can all be rotated effortlessly. So, timing is key.

It’s also a long fight, and thieves are kitten the longer a fight lasts. So, avoid it. Don’t waste your time and do what thieves do best…run away.

[Poll] Which looks more legendary to you?

Asur.9178

Hard question. A looks more legendary by itself, because the color effects make it appear as if its leaking magic out of the armor itself. But B has a substantially more menacing look, which could also qualify it to be the “more legendary” look depending on your opinion.

Well, to be honest, the following is the description of the armour itself.

Loraine Howard III:

Medium armor is crafted from a collection of the finest bones of legendary foes. These special bones hold magical powers that are channeled throughout the armor, culminating in a surge of mystical energy. When the transformation is complete, excess energy is expelled from the wyvern skulls.

So, even taking that into account, it still makes more sense to make the energy effects more prominent and easily visible than its current state. =\

When I said the glowing one looked more legendary, that didn’t mean I endorsed it as a great example of armor I’d really want. The question was one of relative weight, and in GW2 “legendary” means “has lots of glow.” That’s why it seemed a trick question to me. The glowier one looks more like a GW2 legendary item, at least in those screenshots

I’m hoping to get a good look at the legendary armor in game, all weights. I’ve only ever killed one raid boss so there’s pretty much nil chance I’ll ever have the skins, but I’d like to see them in situ. Videos don’t work; they’re grainy, and I can’t control the zoom and spin of the camera.

Personally, when I think ‘legendary’, I think something that should stand out easily. Something that should alert other players around you that ‘hey, this person has put in some hard work’. Nothing to the extent of Phospholuminescent Infusion though; even a slight tweak on the particle effects, as with the bug on ‘A’ is sufficient.

Example: When I walk/run past someone in the open world with a legendary weapon, it stands out. They have effects that are easily noticeable that makes your mind skip a beat and go…‘oh hey, a legendary’. Comparatively, when you look at the medium armour, it does nothing, unless you’re present at the time the transformation is taking place.

I have never felt like I am wearing a legendary armour, when wearing the medium legendary armour. I just felt like I was wearing an alternate Arah set. Comparatively, when I wear my light legendary armour, I don’t even have that feeling.

At least that’s my opinion on the matter.

I did read the entire post. I think they both look unappealing, thus I don’t really have an opinion on which looks more ‘Legendary’. I’m sure some of the playerbase prefers A, some prefers B, and the rest, like me, prefer neither.

Plus, the screenshots are of poor quality, so it’s not easy to make a determination, even if one was inclined to.

Good luck.

You’re right, it’s extremely difficult to tell the difference between the 2 states the legendary armour is in.

[Poll] Which looks more legendary to you?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Asur.9178

Asur.9178

The simple answer is neither.

If you can stop being bitter for a minute, you’d realize that medium armour is not going to be changed. If anything, the particle effects could be changed (they’ve fixed particle effects in the past, including legendary weapons); so, it is safe to assume that it is within their capabilities if they chose to do so.

Therefore, it is only natural to gauge the community’s opinion on the matter in order to see if such a change is necessary and welcomed. So, instead of being bitter about the whole thing, be logical.

Personally, I would like for it to appear more ‘legendary’, as under the current implementation it looks like an Arah armour set with no legendary aspects to it besides the transformation. I would also have preferred for the ability to dye the particle effects, as we can on various outfits, but that does not seem like it will ever be possible.

Which one do you like best? That’s all that matters, not what someone else may think.

Good luck.

It is a good practice to read an entire post, and not just the title, before posting a response.

Ignoring the infusion effects, which looks more suited to be called ‘legendary’? Talking about legendary medium armour of course, not the character.

Infusion effects are: green glow, red/orange glow on chest, ghostly infusion effect, pale skin/hair, floating red/blue square bubbles.

I would have gladly removed infusion effects for a clearer look when the armour bug triggered, if I had any Infusion Extraction Devices on me.

The main comparison is between the armour effect itself. So, basically the whitish glows all over the armour.

What really should have happened: they should have given the thief druid spec so the thief would actually get different role.
Instead they gave thief acro v2.0 :/

Don’t worry, the 2nd one they seem to be getting will add nothing…again.

You better enjoy playing D/P in PvP cause that’s all you’ll be playing for at least another 2 years.
