For turrets, having passive heals is REALLY good. This makes Warrior (Healing Signet), Guardian (Virtue of Resolve) and Ele (Soothing Mist/Signet of Restoration) all good choices for turret operators.
Of these, ele and warrior are generally better off in the main dps zerg, which leaves guards on turrets.
Traiting boon duration/healing guardian will give the best result here as your increased boon duration will give longer might, vigor, regen and protection to the DPS zerg while maintaining high survivability through passive healing. You also have a passive block every 40s, and can drop the turret for a second to place reflect walls as needed if Teq’s Fingers get too close.
TC have completed 3 of the last 4 spawns of Teq. Fun times. Still hunting that elusive 3 in a row, though.
Thanks again Jyl. Amazing artwork – I posted it on my facebook (credited, of course) and now I have friends browsing your DA and commenting on how awesome your work is.
The only thing that bugs me with the current system is the people that AFK after we beat teq once, meaning we can’t get a second kill in a row ’cause 30+ people are AFK at the turrets.
ISLE OF JANTHIR GOT HIM!!!!
Hmm, you sure that’s not TC? I see NOPE, EP, ESP, KH, Yum… All prominent TC WvW guilds.
if you want to give the enemy free loot go ahead and take a ele into wvw.
now if you want to be useful then really any other class.
Hmm, really? Ele is actually very survivable if you play it right. Sure, staff ele won’t win many 1v1s, but you sure as hell are gonna take forever to catch and kill me. I’ve kited 5 people from S camp to Citadel before (to be fair, they weren’t great).
And my 190k+ wvw kills tells me that I’ve died about 95x less often than I kill/get tags on someone else. (that’s a 95:1 k:d ratio)
Group SAB Trib Mode is the most fun, as long as you’re dong it with friends/guildies and not PuGs. Still want to get that 2-3 5-man clear. Almost had it but for an unlucky disconnect about 3/4 through.
this is a clear case of “pug not in ts”
Clear case of the people around him not knowing the mechanics of the game, ‘cause even if all 15 of them attacked the gate/siege placements they wouldn’t get orange swords to pop, and the catas had already initiated the white swords.
Thanks for the fights, RET. Keep on zergin’.
That’s a guild puzzle area (accessible while the puzzle is active from the contested WP in that screenshot). Not sure if it counts towards the achieve or not.

you took a wrong turn in the clouds. Always go left (after the first right.)
What class are you playing? From here I could give tips on how to increase survivability without giving up too much damage/control. Without that info, generic ‘learn when to dodge’ and ‘reflect projectiles’ are the two most basic tips I can give you.
Mesmer seems the obvious choice here
Max DPS:
GS and Axe/Mace
Traits: 30/0/0/10/30
– Strength: V, IX, XI
– Tactics: II
– Discipline: VI, VIII, XII
Armor: Berserker w/Runes of the Scholar
Weapons (Assume Ascended):
– Axe: Berserker, Sigil of Force, Mighty Infusion
– Mace: Berserker, Sigil of Might, Mighty Infusion
– GS: Berserker, Sigil of Force, 2x Mighty Infusion
Trinkets: Full Ascended Berserker with Mighty infusions
Food: Bowl of Sweet and Spicy Butternut Squash Soup
Potion: Either the level 80 dungeon potion specific to the content you’re doing, or Sharpening Stones
Other: Skale Venom
The confusion here is that you’re talking about the colours of the skins (white and orange) while I originally thought you were talking about rarity (basic and exotic, which share those colours.)
Skin colour will not change based on the stats of the sword. If you choose the skin of Occam’s Razor and the stats of Hronk’s Razor, it will be an orange-coloured (ascended) item in the end.
WTB YMLAD! as pve-only skill. ty.
Explorer achievements are for the unfogging of the map. There are areas on the map that don’t have POIs, hearts, or vistas, yet have distinct map areas. Once you’ve visited all of them, you then get the achievement. The only way to ‘cheat’ this is to look at a completely unfogged map and compare it to yours, seeing which small named areas are missing.
From your zoomed out map, try Griffonrook Run as one area you haven’t been to – looks like it’s still fogged, but that could be your zoom level.
$1000-ish. give or take $100 or so
Make sure you learn the song in w2-2 before trying to open the door.
Couple of GvG’s done (vs TW, Choo, BANE) – good fights and our composition’s looking strong. Still looking to increase our numbers for larger GvG and zerg-busting nights though! Drop us a line in-game.
AFAIK our group got the first 4-man 2-3 Trib Mode completion, and we almost got a 5-man completion, but had an unlucky DC at the end last night.
I honestly couldn’t imagine trying with a group. My last 2-3 run was about 35 minutes and hoping to get better with more runs but I don’t have any guildies I think could keep up. Props to you as well.
Hit us up in game, we’re not quite as fast as you (only done it ~4 times personally), but we’d be glad for more company. We have a solid 4-man, and picked up a 5th last night for the attempt.
I run this, which has a couple of different trinket choices (full celestial), makes use of all the infusion slots, and changes the sigil on the weapon for a bit more damage, in addition to full divinity runes.
I also have a celestial ascended backpiece, but that site doesn’t offer them in the builder.

Ele elite [Tornado] will also get you ruined ore/plant fibres/logs every time, too.
You can complete every zone without dodge jumping. I know, I’ve done it.

1-1 you can cut some time after the last checkpoint by running along the ground just to the right of the row of trees. The whole length of ground there is solid and untrapped, so you save a couple of jumps (which are slower than running). Maybe cut 10-15s off there, and then your missed jump at the very end. Overall very impressive run, and ~30s faster than my best so far. I’m a little more cautious.
I did 1-1 last night, 0 deaths, in 5:35. But I don’t have the computer specs to run recording software and the game at the same time.

Losing 2-3 lives per respawn at that checkpoint is kind of rough. My connection was terribad tonight, so I kept rubberbanding off the tramampomalines and dying. Result: 14 times through moto’s continue chamber.

The base weapons are blue-skinned. Get them for 50 bauble bubbles from moto (for the current set, the previous set is TP-only right now, if you want blue.)
Yeah but I like wearing the backpack, and that’s still limited to the last event so.
Not quite, you can get the green and yellow skinned backpacks by completing the meta achievement for either w1 or w2

The skin colours follow the standard rarity colours for items in the game.
Blue (Fine)
Green (Masterwork)
Yellow (Exotic)
Red (Pink) (Ascended)
Purple (Legendary)

Spending six+ hours in one part does not seem casual to me.
As Jeff said above, we did each zone with 4-5 people and each one took ~3 hours. That’s not too bad, considering the first full DoA runs in GW1 took about 11 hours.
hate that trib cloud in 1-3? skip it!

Strange, that trib cloud never gets me. Just run along the leaves to the right, make the jump to the leaf with spikes and it de-aggros. Clear sailing every time.

Only truly hard part for a group was that kitten CP with the tribulation cloud that knocks you off unless you time your run to the CP perfectly. Otherwise not much different than solo. Some parts go faster (icickitten sses), some parts go a bit slower (hard jump sequences as you wait for everyone to catch up if they get caught by wind/mistime their ice slides)

Finally got my yellow staff skin last night. I’m gonna get a couple more yellow skins (double daggers, maybe a shield and GS, too). W2-3 Trib Mode wasn’t too bad once you figured out the jumps, just like everything else in SAB. Probably took our group of 4 (yes, 4 people at once) about 2.5 hours for the runthrough.
Having 4 people made some parts go significantly faster (like the big room full of towers and icicles to knock down), and made some parts slower (like the part with ice, spikes, wind, bananas, barrels and what we’ve dubbed the “No-no Clouds”), as they take a bit longer as we wait for everyone to get the elusive clean run.
TW and Choo. Thanks for the fights.
Love,
Back line RoT ele.

I have almost a stack of continue coins from last time SAB was around and JPs since this release. I bought an ICC anyway, for the convenience of having 10 lives per use instead of 5, and to support ANet with the SAB release. This makes no difference as to how many lives I have, ‘cause I for sure haven’t used >1250 lives completing tribulation mode over the course of however many times I’ve completed it now. (7 or 8, including running guildies through when I’ve already done it for the daily chests.)

None of that even touches on the forced use of a mechanic I see as a little unforgiving and or bugged called dodge jumping. A mechanic that besides a few rare spots in PvP is not required, taught, or even known to many in the game at all. Yet in World 2 it is pretty much required for nearly all of it on TM mode without exception. The timing has to be done spot on as well without even a decimal point of forgiveness. I’d call a fighting game chain combo more forgiving then it. Very rarely do I get this kinda issue with two buttons needing to be pressed on the PC at the same time. Been playing MMORPG’s since the bloody days of UO and EQ as well. (Yes, I can do it but it doesn’t change what a butt it is here.)
I completed World 2 with exactly zero dodge-jumps (both Normal and Tribulation Mode). Yes, it makes some of the jumps a little more forgiving, but definitely not required. In fact, I think Josh himself said that they (QA) test content not using dodge-jumps, even though they do help sometimes.
Normal mode solo: 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 3-1
Tribulation mode solo: 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 2-1, 2-2 (and I will be doing 2-3 tonight when I get off work)
I sincerely I hope this happens often to anyone that uses guides.
Yup yup. This sentiment I agree with.
I agree that World 2 normal mode is a little too hard. Tribulation Mode, however, is exactly where it should be. I love the difficulty and the unforgivingness of it all. So good.
I have my green staff skin. Yellow staff skin coming tonight when I do W2-3. I’ll edit this with a screenshot when I get home this evening.

Currently working on W2 tribulation mode (no, I haven’t played it in normal mode) – The difficulty feels about right, and I’m loving playing with a group to see who can figure out and get through the areas the fastest.
Keep bringing Trib Mode. So much fun and I’m loving every hour that I spend in there. (2 hours total for W1:1-3, 2 hours for W2:1, and ~6 hours for W2:2 — W2:3 is coming up tonight.)
The only issue I have is the rapids section in W2:1, where you have to jump across the water spouts; they do a knockback even if you jump before they disappear. This totally breaks the immersion and feels like you’re playing against the game engine, not the game design.

Yeah, you can get in, it’s just… tricky.
Any chance of getting the birthday booster back? I don’t mind losing my other buffs, they’re easily replaceable (even though I was using a wxp booster that I have to rebuy now) – the birthday booster, however, is a pretty hefty loss seeing as I’d only activated it a couple of hours prior to entering the SAB hub.
Did you have any guild buffs active? If you had the +10% mf buff up, and got 2% from luck before re-checking, then that would account for an 8% decrease when the guild buff timed out.
