this week will reveal many things like:
TC shall have the power and the desire to get on Tier1??
Ewww. No thanks. I’m very, very happy with our current match-up. Close fights, even teams. FA can certainly bring the pain when it wants to – [PRO] and [AVTR] are both showing huge amounts of spirit during my time-slot – and KN is a tough nut to crack (but it looks like we can just about do it.)
Score/map update?
close game again. good job TC on keeping us, KN, on our toes all week.
had some fun fights, and im looking forward to this upcoming week!
Translation: Bring the Lube next week
I am scared :o Kaineng is going to go boss on us next week.
War Machine W does make me a little scared when I see their full power rolling in towards us, full of hammer warriors and confusion mesmers. Grit your teeth and take it in the face. Fight to the last and pop all your cooldowns.
If you’re that good, just take the keeps/towers you haven’t got yet. Make a server-wide coordinated effort to get map completions. I’ve been red for months (just turned blue for the first time in all that time) and I have full WvW map completion on 4 characters. That includes the almost impenetrable green EB keep. >.<
I’m proud of TC this week. We fought REALLY hard at some ridiculous hours in the night/morning to hold off servers with more Oceanic/SEA players. There were nights I was only getting 3 hours of sleep before work, ’cause I was staying up to defend points, or countercap supply camps.
Nightlight, Deyja, Odin, Kitty, Azel – You folks are awesome commanders (and on at the same time as me.) I’m sure all the commanders who run when I’m not there as just as good, but I don’t know your names.
FA and KN – Holy -expletive-! Good fights everywhere all the freakin’ time. Very competitive tier, and it’s a pleasure to wipe (and be wiped by) you. May your loot bags always be full of exotics.
Last one for the night for me. Work tomorrow, as much as I’d love to keep pushing for points. Good hard fights in TCBL this evening. Nice work in Bay, FA, it was scary for a few minutes.
I guess it would be fine if I ever saw the Supply Capacity buff up (or it was on every keep/tower), but I never see it on my tier/server
I always cringe when I see it up on keeps/towers. Encouraging taking supply from them is just bad form.
Figure I should post this before I go grab some much needed rest. Good fights everywhere, FA.
KA, please stay and fight sometime. I know you’re good at pvdoor, but try actually pushing into us once in a while.
Score update? /15char
Finally fixed F2 autoattacks.
We’re allowed to gloat just a little bit, right? I mean, it’s not like this is an easy fight for any of us. Epic battles all night. And we’ll continue to fight for Kaineng hills. Thanks for all the bags. ^ ^
Ehm…you do know that’s the one thing you should NEVER do as a Commander, right?
You can only use portals when you get killed, or when EVERYONE in your zerg is on TeamSpeak, and you’re doing an organized WvW run. Otherwise, a great deal of the zerg will just stay where they are to stand around, which will tear the zerg apart.
Uhm… really? You’ll run your force the entire length of a map rather than use a WP to get you there in seconds?
When I logged off yesterday afternoon TC had pushed to under 1,000 for 2nd. I took last night off to read World War Z, and woke up to a completely different landscape. Looks like TC stepped it up big time. Can someone give a recap of the evening festivities?
Az (followed by Kitty and then Nightlight) held our BL in complete control pretty much all night (sneaky [WM] ninja’d the fully upgraded LV at one point, but we grabbed it back pretty sharpish.) At one point we were getting +350 ppt, and we held at +300 or better for a very long time.
Good fights all around.
War Machine W. Mad props. You sure know how to run as a tight group. Love fighting you.
Strange, I’ve been getting dyes from early on, too, and I’ve seen the opposite results. Terrible luck early, but getting more rares recently. I think what you’re seeing is just a proper distribution.
I think what you’re not understanding is that the item “Unidentified dye” is the same no matter where you obtain it from. There is no special one from the gem store that guarantees you higher rarity dyes. All unIDs are created equal.
We (TC) spent a solid hour and a half holding a supply camp (Speldans) from Kaineng last night. That was a really epic and hard-fought open-field battle. They eventually wore us down with superior numbers, but it was an amazing amount of fun.
(For anyone taking part, I was the staff/d-d ele commander there)
Is anyone really going to pick anything but ++supply, or increased/reduced siege damage? I just don’t see the other options being viable strategic choices.
On Tarnished Coast, any WvW map (whether in large or small groups). Code 7 disconnect to the character select screen.
Not sure if it still works, but you used to be able to blink through the side of that area to portal, even before doing the personal story.
I’ve received this bug 3 times in the last couple of days. Each time after very laggy world events (twice at Jormag, once at Teq.) I’m thinking maybe it’s just all the quicknesses from Time Warp finally stack up and apply, leaving me with perma-quickness for ~5 minutes. I’m not complaining. Taking down champs with auto-attack in ~10 seconds is kinda fun.
So this merchant has been disabled since very shortly after launch. Is there an ETA on when she’ll be back in business?

I want my bovine potions
Can any group made up of any combination of classes beat dungeons reasonably? Or does it have to be properly planned? From what I saw in many cases it was planned and it was also planned around an exploit with food, that wasn’t ever meant to happen that way.
Any combination of classes beating dungeons: Yes, as long as the players know what they’re doing.
I’ve done the new AC with multiple different group compositions. Yes, I tailored my utilities/equipment to run a more supportive ele build as needed, or DPS if mass cleanses weren’t needed, or tanking if there wasn’t a good tank for P2. It’s all about learning your class and the dungeon.
Go PUG UW/FoW/DoA/Urgoz/The Deep in GW1 and see how far you get. Explorables are the high-end areas of GW2 and should be treated as such. Don’t make them face-roll easy, make them challenging.
We do not need Chaos Gloves as much as we need female Mesmer armors from GW. I am severely upset that I cannot slay dragons in lingerie. Guild Wars 2 is too conservative!
Which female Me armor are you referring to here? I guess Enchanter/Elite Enchanter is kinda like lingerie, but it’s definitely more conservative than many of the female light armors in GW2 (see Winged or Feathered light armor sets)
If you want original GW1 mesmer armor, the Heritage light armor (from HoM) is based off artwork of GW1 mesmers.
Wait, stealthing into a spawn point is against the rules? Since when? It’s kinda fun to kill all the NPCs in there. Not like there’s any chance of getting out alive, anyway.
Guild Wars 1: Stat plateau, BiS gear ASAP with grinding for looks only, expansions don’t add gear or levels so your character remains viable for all content in the game, guild battles
WoW: Stat progression, BiS gear takes unbelievable amount of grind, expansions add levels and start your gear grind from scratch so if you are away for a year you are no longer viable, no guild battles but rather small 5-10 man battlegrounds and a single zone for "open world’ PvP.
Which of those two sounds more like GW2? Once you figure that out, you’ll have a good idea of where to look for the future of this game.
Sorry. But no grind for BiS gear in GW1? Try setting up all your characters and heroes with Sup runes and insignia, top-tier metagame pre/suffixes for weapons. There was a definite grind for BiS.
Go do UW without anyone with shadowform and tell me how easy it is. Then find me a GW2 mission/dungeon that’s of an equal difficulty and skill requirement. Everything in GW2 has been solo’d except those parts that require multiple people for progression (torches in CoF3, traps in AC2, light football in Arah, traps and hammer in fractals.)
DoA was first done Solo when? Last April? Nothing in this game is that challenging.
After re-adding the blast finisher to evasive arcana – earth, evasive arcana – water no longer triggers at all.
I feel that this is the case too but I think it’s just the animation that’s missing, but EA on water attune still seems to heal though. Not quite sure. Need more testing. Can anyone confirm?
Still getting the heal and cleanse, but no animation. It’s technically fine.
Wait, so because I farmed my 100g in PvE instead of WvW I shouldn’t be allowed to display my tag? I also have a full set of invaders gear, 14k WvW kills and almost have my legendary. Being a well-rounded player counts for nothing?
I’m excited to fight vs. FA. It’ll be fun to replay this fight from the opposite side.
Cleared multiple times on TC, really not that bad once you learn his patterns and save your dodge rolls. You should be able to walk out of the small circles (ice). Save your dodges for if you’re stuck centrally in a big circle (teleport)
Kitten good fight in SBI Hills, Choo et al.
Thanks for the 50+ badges as you ran through my AOEs
Lots of fun had (hopefully on both sides), even though we lost it in the end as you had us supply starved.
Been there since launch Nice to see people finding it though
Well you can survive Kholer’s pull and dodge away as a warrior. As a thief\ele\engi you just die if you fail to dodge.
You kinda have a larger margin for errors on warriors\guardians. Guardians can just afk-facetank some places where everyone else need to dodge\kite.
My ele doesn’t die from Kholer’s pull, when it (very rarely) hits me – sometimes if I lag during the fight and miss a dodge, or another player obscures the animation with some flashy skill. Your utils should contain at least one stun-break (cleansing fire or mist form) to activate when it hits you, then just dodge backwards. As a bonus, you’re also getting vigor off your cantrip activation so you have more chance to dodge the next time.
Chimeric prism – HoM reward – when transmuted onto another focus, loses it’s unique icon.
For people who finished the PvE side then got bored and decided to buy a tag and see what happens. (whenever I see a commander tag that also shows the star for map completion I know that’s the kind).
What about those WvW commanders who wanted a legendary and so did map completion (that really only takes 2-3 days if you’re a fully geared 80)?
‘Last 3 rooms in solid ocean fractal’? You mean the fractal where you run to the maw without killing anything (maybe clearing the respawn point if you’re with pugs who plan on dying)? There’s nothing to cheat/exploit/glitch there, you just run right past.
You know those T1/T2/T3 servers? They aren’t only made up of zergs. They have a large ‘zerg’ running round that map, yes, but that’s always going to be true. A LOT of the actual objective gains on the maps is done by much smaller (5-20 man) groups though. Calling WvW a total zerg-fest just shows that you don’t understand how many of us run in smaller groups.
For big objectives (like SMC, Border Keeps, Hills, Bay, and Garrison) you may well need a much larger force (although I have taken Hills with 5 people before, and Bay with fewer than 10) but for camps and towers, smaller groups are actually way more efficient most of the time.
Yup, saw the debuff pop multiple times in that video when you mistimed your C&D. Very nice work on the ninja. Tactics like this are what makes that game so fun and rewarding of innovative play. Sucks that the lord bugged out and didn’t fight back, I really wanted to see a proper 2vLord fight.
For me and my friends, ‘affinity’ culling resulted in the following:
3 of us in the middle of no where, away from any action. We see a 3 shadows on the ground approaching us (no character models have loaded yet, no nametags). As the shadows get to about 1200 distance away, the character models finally load in, still no nametags. They proceed to run by us, not realizing that we are enemies (they must of been having the same culling issues). As they run by us, the nametag loads in, and low and behold, they’re enemies.
It was this bad. I dread the thought of this returning.
No, what you’re seeing there is a result of asset load delay. Culling would be that nothing about the character renders until they’re on top of you because the server hasn’t told your client that they exist yet. With affinity culling, this will happen sooner, and you’re not going to have asset load time issues, so you’ll actually be seeing character models and nameplates sooner. You’re just confusing the issue.
Frodo’s coming here? Hope he doesn’t bring that ring with him. All we need is more QQ-ing about culling issues when rendering out of stealth.
You know what was fun? [AL] strike squad (~15 of us) slamming into SoR and SBI zergs all last night (and capping the east side of EB, including SMC and SBI keep)… finally pulled myself away from picking up loot bags at 9am this morning. Can’t wait to dive into some more zergs tonight! See you all on the field.
Pretty sure there’s someone in [PRO] on FA that’s getting close to that title. Can’t remember who right now.
I recently transferred onto Garnished Toast, but Ehmry Bay was a very close second as to my choice of permanent server once free transfers end. Your community seems like a lot of fun, with much less pressure than is on the higher-tier WvW servers. Good luck on your hunt for more people and guilds.
I also have this issue. I’d like to know exactly what choices I made with my previous characters, so I can round out my achievements as I level my new alts through their storylines.
Bugged since launch every time I’ve visited it (Eredon Terrace at launch/headstart, then Devona’s Rest, Fort Aspenwood, Sea of Sorrows, now Tarnished Coast)
When you’re in an overflow, all maps show as being in their default (or starting) state. For most of Orr (Straits, Malchor’s, and Cursed Shore,) this default state is contested waypoints and cathedrals – as if none of the events are running.
Except you’d reconnect at the start of the instance, and still have to jump to the platform and be hit by agony :P
No cool down? … question then, how is he able to use churning earth twice in under 10 secs when there is a 30 sec cool-down on it. He uses churning earth, followed by ring of earth, then churning again. Is there a something the lessens the cooldown time on that? and casting time?
Evasive Arcana procs the churning earth graphic on dodge roll in earth attunement (blast finisher, lower damage, a couple of stacks of bleed)
Er, food buff for health gain every second, signet that heals on every spell cast, water attunement gives both regen and soothing mist (second regen), plus a cleanse on attunement switch to water and 2 solid heals (skills 2 and 5.)
Looks like a standard D/D ele with someone good behind the controls. No hacking there. Check out Bit’s stream (twitch.tv/bitcloud1) for something very similar. High survivability, boon juggling, decent DPS. Elementalists have 20 skills to choose from at any time, so the ‘no skill cooldown’ is actually just the player cycling through attunements on skill recharge.
