I soloqued for 2 days. From 520 I went to 60percentile.
I played last night from 8:30pm to 2am and got my self back to 560.

So before I collapse,

1000 * 2175 * (1 * 1.6) / 1800 = 1933 – Basic damage equation for 5 Scholar 1 Divinity

So if both of them use 1 might stack what would the result be?

I am trying to understand whether strength runes with 20percent duration and 5 percent damage under might is a better choice for using them when invested on might trait instead of 5 scholar 1 divinity.

So for example if I was hitting someone for i.e a minute would the damage output be higher with strength runes with one might stack for a minute or with the other?

6 Divinity = 60 all stats + 12% critical damage

5 Scholar + 1 Divinity = 175 Power + 10% critical damage.

You get more than double the power from the Scholar runes at the cost of 2% critical damage and 60 of other stats (60 precision, 60 toughness, 60 vitality, 60 Condition damage, 60 Healing Power)

When including that in a damage equation for pure DPS gain:

1000 * 2060 * (1 * 1.62) / 1800 = 1854 – Basic damage equation for 6 Divinity

1000 * 2175 * (1 * 1.6) / 1800 = 1933 – Basic damage equation for 5 Scholar 1 Divinity

This shows that the additional power outweighs the additional crit damage.

This doesn’t mean 6 Divinity isn’t viable, as it does increase survivability slightly and also increases crit chance.

Can you please do the calculation with Strength runes please?

Yeah still I find it extremely hard to read. I used to have a similar font on my blog as well and had to completely re-change it.

In all honesty, you need a fond that is simple basic and makes the letters crystal clear. Also some contrast would be nice.

Would be a good idea to post your blog on reddit and ask for further judgement/advice. Worked for me.

Reverting to this one at the moment with divinity runes on. If a group comp needs me to be more dps I switch runes to the Might ones and switch the trait to might instead of vigour.

Also been using withdraw 75percent of the time unless I feel i need to switch to HS.

I think I have found a diamond in here.

First of all 1v1s happen usually;

1. On a 3 digit number server.
2. Most people are gathered up in one place chilling and seeing 1v1.

So since you have got no excuse of finding a server to farm your rank and glory why would you impose what you want as an individual to the majority in that server?

And to reply to the ArenaNet stuff dueling is not a problem with our without quotations. It is a demand that has been expressed through the lack of not being answered to.

The main problem is not the people that leave. That is something insignificant and really trivial if you consider other issues which is the bigger picture in here;

People wouldn’t leave if soloque was enjoyable. That is the fact and that is the problem.

People won’t randomly leave things because they do not care; it is because they do not see enough reasons to care enough to stay.

Yep. I used to have plenty of charisma and love for the game but since last patch I am extremely frustrated at the solo queue. So, if my team isn’t doing enough catch up, if the enemy team hits 450, I leave. Why should I stay? We will lose any way. We get nothing out of it. I get nothing out of it. I rather cool off and wait than be irritated.

Problem is people leaving long before that. And even leaving at 450 is a kid comportement.

Remember when I said I just had 4 vs 5 two times ? I just got 2 afk. Wonder if Anet will do anything about this…

No player/human leaves when he is winning unless he has to (real life). And SPvP is frustrating as it is so people wouldn’t just waste 10-14m of their time just to troll on others.

If you want to beat a bunker Ele as an Engie then you go condi. Ele cannot cleanse fast enough or long enough.

And no burst thief can take down a bunker Ele.

When will they separate Soloques from Premades?
Will they introduce Tier and League System like other MMOs?
Will they reset rating once everything is in place?
Will they introduce more builds to counter typical cheesy team comps?
Have they got plans to stop players from always needing two bunkers in SPvP?
Are we going to see a boost in melee classes since things are starting to get out of control with ranged ones?

You could always reroll to Guardian or Elementalist. Much better classes. They are like Alpha Classes.

Was thinking of trying mesmer to be honest.

i have a mesmer.. they are kitten pain to level.. worse than thief..

Been getting phantasm mesmers lately. So annoying/annoyed.

I would like to add some info on the reasons for League of Legend’s Elo System being the most successful competitive system in my opinion.

  • Premades are separated from Soloquers – You are only allowed to play with one friend as a soloquer.
  • Your Elo does not lie – You are where you rightfully belong; it defines your skills as both an individual player and as a team player.
  • It pushes you to go higher because it is a fact that if you want to go from the lowest Tier to the highest Tier you must improve – Each Tier represents a skill level. So if you are bad or decent or average and do not wish to improve you are guaranteed not to get far.
  • You have got leagues – Everyone can go up and down and there is something to look for.
  • Pugs want to win – And that is what drives healthy competition as well as having later on great teams; solo players reaching the high end of the stick.

So for example I used to be 1500 elo there; I never felt that I deserved to be higher. That was the maximum elo I could reach back then. I was just never good enough to go higher unless I improved.

Some interesting changes you made there. c: I kinda like them, actually. They’re not bad.

Well If I tell you why this is the new SPvP Killah Arena will definitely nerf it.

On a serious note, the changes and switches I make over time are on par with my vision of a Thief’s role in groups; so specifically in SPvP. Whereas I would be overly aggressive with D/D, with D/P I had to compromise into what exactly I want to be and how my personal playstyle can contribute to group dynamics.

I took me approximately two months (since I am indeed a slow learner) to feel comfortable with D/P and so I have been struggling until last week where I am feeling it.

I am personally not fond of long cooldowns in traits and I do not think that long cooldowns synergize well with a thief. I see it as a paradox. But that is my perception that has been reinforced from other MMOs and hasn’t changed at all with this one as well.

I would like to think that this build is an all around build for SPvP; I would like to think it is good enough to be called a DPS Roamer build. That is how I see my self right now and it might just be me who has that completed vision about how to maximize/utilize dps with roaming.

On another note, this is an old debate but

  • 15 points on acrobatics could be spend on other trait lines; i.e Shadow I assume.
  • Withdraw with vigor trait.
  • If you see your self inclined to invest on might you might as well go full on it; might runes + possibly investing more on the damage trait.
  • I had a brief discussion with someone about the whole boon strip way but I can’t remember what exactly was said but when I do I will add to it.

But like I said this is the way I see a thief or my self into a group for SPvP.

Interesting, I’ll try this out sometime.

I really like the fact that might lasts longer, it is easier to stack and also you get 5percent damage up each time you have got might. So in combination with the other sigil you apply on you weapon (5percent damage) you have got always 10percent damage on your offhand.

Probably a noobish stupid question but do you need to be on the same server as your guild? It seems a lot of the posts above don’t specify what server the guild is on which leads me to believe that you don’t have to be on the same server so I’m wondering how specifically that works??

In sPvP your server does not matter, you play with and against people from other servers. You can also guest to the more populated ones like Anvil Rock to run into more players, but that is pretty much the extent of it.

I am really against those because if you purely go for ranged builds then you might as well reroll to a ranger but that is my opinion.

I know what you mean, and while I partially agree, Rangers don’t have the stealth nor mobility that thieves have. Also, Rangers’ bows don’t give them a lot of versatility, whikitten n the thief is a highly flexible weapon. Still, overall, I might be inclined to agree with you.

@OP: ideally balancing is done to balance skilled endgame. Saying hs needs a nerf b/c its so good at lv 10 is simply troll or Anet.

Just a perfect example of what I’ve written in the “Best WvW build” thread. D/P is just too easy to play and definitely needs a nerf. Mug, CnD, Backstab combo is totally fine, but I guess ANet won’t realize that. Good luck fighting d/p thieves, they’re a lot harder to kill due to the perma blind + stealth abuse. :|

  • One shotters
  • HS spammers
  • Permanent stealth
  • Never-ending blinds

Lol, I noticed you didn’t add any utilities or weapons to this build. c; However, if I had to guess, it would be a D/D burst thief with SB secondary, runs HiS, and has the utilities Shadowstep, Last Refuge, and Blinding Powder (? I just use this as a placeholder for whatever actually belongs there. It’s just a safe option, IMHO). Elite = Basilisk Venom.

To me, looks like your idea is to have a bursty D/D thief that has more evades than the regular setup. Like the idea, although I’m not sure how the setup will work given to D/D’s reliance on stealth. :/ either way, don’t have the time right now; I’ll use it tomorrow, and tell you how I like it.

I think I am done experimenting at the moment. Hopefully I can stick to a kitten build and not have second thoughts about it.

Having come from purely Sword-using origins, it took me a while to really appreciate D/P as well. Now, I run it all the time, and I can tell you that I run a much, much more defensive build than the one above (0/0/20/30/20). And yet, it works. I guess it’s (in part) because I run pretty much full zerker gear, or, failing that (don’t have enough gold to buy everything that I want, sadly enough) I focus on Power and Precision. For me, the result has been a very hardy build that does a great amount of damage, has plenty of stealth, and a lot of dodges. It’s probably a bit nooby in that I use HS+Stealth so much, but it works, and that’s why I like it. Plus, it seems fairly original to me, which is something that I definitely like.

Kitten scholar. I am going for divinity runes and thats it.

I tried Sword Main hand like 5 times and I just couldn’t get round to it or hated it style to be honest. I will always vision it as the most superdefensive build out of them all so that is definitely not something that suits my style.

In WvW (I assume you do that) I envy you guys because you got do so much with a thief’s build it is ridiculous and adjust it perfectly to your needs and wants as well. It is a win-win situation for me there. I honestly do not think a bad build exists in WvW because you can get your keystats from everywhere and just experiment as much as you please.

Are you considering introducing a paralyzer sigil on the dagger only for thieves? Are you considering giving the thief more CC options?

Can you generally inform us in the types of changes you are considering apart from mobility?
