Good luck this week. Lets get thru the initial “were new to T-1 so we got lots to prove lets rush in hard” weekend zerg and get down to the chess match. JQ. Where you at? get in here boys!!!! :>
Couple of major things this week will effect this match. The one time event will definitely pull all but the most dedicated away this weekend (and I would imagine a server who is new to the tier would, on average, have more people dedicated to fight because of the enthusiasm). Also, a number of people are leaving over the start of a gear treadmill. Then at the end of the week Thanksgiving may pullsome people away (but bring some people in). All around its gonna be a strange week.
Those two things may affect some servers more than others for a variety of reasons (one of which I mentioned above). I for one (on JQ), am gone until Tuesday and then gone again on Thanksgiving through Friday.
Server events will nearly always affect SoS more, due to the nature of the SoS server.
I wish I had missed it…
This is some of the worst communication from a game company I have ever seen. 7 hours bugged for a limited time event, and zero response. Good going Anet, you win those trial accounts over!
The mesmers are even worse. Read their bug thread in the bug forums.
Well at least it kept its MASSIVE damage.
This patch is awesome: new crippling elemental bugs, staff killed, event lagged and bugged to all hell…I know if I was on a trial account, I would sure be convinced to play!
Inside the Mists, the trait works. Outside, it does not.
Bugged…he is perma-dead on Sea of Sorrows.

It doesn’t work in PvE (cd remains at 75s when traited)

Dragon’s Tooth is now a fire-and-forget skill. Fire it off and forget about it doing anything.

Pretty much. Seems to be their new way of ‘balancing’ Elementalists.
Cantrip Mastery works with Mist Form. Tested in the Mists.
And in dungeons ele’s suck, except with evasive arcana build. To support and heal is our only viable role. Area swiftness, might, healing. But now that has been nerfed.
That may be the only way YOU can manage to play your elementalist in a dungeon, but don’t wave your hands around trying to represent the rest of us.
Stop looking at the class through such a narrow lens. Experiment with new playstyles — it’ll support many (many) more than people like you give credit. It can definitely fill both offensive and support roles but it requries different ways of playing both. Imagine that! If all you ever find in your hand is a staff, you’re probably doing it wrong. They have always removed all weapon stats

Oh I always forgot…conjured weapons STILL remove the stat bonuses from your actual weapons, meaning they are still rubbish outside of PvP and pulling people off walls in WvWvW.
Lol, you dont need 30 arcana… The attunements gcd is fine even with 10 in arcana. Just stay a bit longer in your current attunement and time your switches and you’ll be fine.
I’m more upset by the fact that my DPS is cut in half because of the blast finish might stack…
Going to be brutally honest here: you have no idea what you are talking about. GCD? Do you even know what that means?
New bug with:
Flame Axe: This weapon now grants the wielder power and condition damage.
Frost Bow: This weapon now grants the wielder increased condition duration and increased healing power.
Fiery Greatsword: This weapon now grants the wielder power and condition damage.
Magnetic Shield: This weapon now grants the wielder vitality and toughness.
Lightning Hammer: This weapon now grants the wielder increased precision and critical damage.
You get the new buffs ONLY when the weapon is summoned. Picking up the weapon gives you nothing.
And this is why the Elementalist is horribly designed: mandatory Arcane points.
There are several major issues, this being one of them. The only thing that got fixed was the conjures, though it’s still up in the air wheter it will work.
However, the changes to Tornado makes me wonder if Anet gets any of the real issues at all…
True, but I believe Attunement recharge is the biggest issue. If this was ‘fixed’, then all the stupid single attunement specific traits we have might (probably not) be usable, and we could actually feel free to spec differently without hamstringing ourselves.
But yes, Elementalists still have far too many issues that are ignored, and that Tornado change shows just how disconnected Anet are from the reality of Elementalist balance.
Arcane Attunement should be 9 seconds BASELINE, and the Arcane trait bonus should be changed. The class is supposed to be about Attunement dancing, yet we are forced into one tree to actually do this properly.
This is an extremely poor design and needs to be changed.

People need to stop thinking in extremes. Anet changing it does not mean it suddenly goes from super hard/random to mailed to you when you create a character. It will just be less super hard/random.
It’s interesting to know SoS has to use a server transfer exploit to plant two commanders in SoR WvW zones to throw off the zergs on Friday night (Wolfbain and Cacare).

AoE. People too often confuse stealth for invulnerability. Always have at least one weapon with a ground target or cone AoE effect, aim it vaguely in the direction of the thief, and go to town. swing wild with your auto-attack too, even if you can’t see them, you can hit them. You won’t see damage numbers but they do take damage.
Elementalists cannot weapon swap btw.

They wont be nerfing the stealth, they are nerfing backstab damage, which is why you will be seeing more of these builds in the future. Everyone kinda mucked themselves with the complaining about the high DPS, now they are just going to get messed up by condition and stealth builds which weren’t popular before but will be now!

STEALTH is what they need to nerf most.
This may sound bitter, but the best way is to not solo. Eles are the weakest solo class, but very good in groups. Find yourself a warrior buddy
The 100+ elementalist bugs will hopefully be addressed.

Forked Lightning
Lately this skill (Trident auto-attack with air) will often get into a state where it will shoot above the head of my target and continually miss while the target keeps hitting me until I move around to a spot which lets me hit them (usually above them).
I hate this bug. It happens consistently against krait.
Na 10% are legit drops. It is just unfortunate that Anet didnt ban the exploiters at the start like they should have and dealt with botters better.
I was simply taking the opposite approach that everyone else is that things will get better instead they might just get much worst.
Maybe I will add sarcasm tag next time.To banning the exploiters and bots from moment 0 I totally agree and they should have cleaned the market completely since it happened. However, those “exploited” precursors are over now. The ones you see sold right now are legit. So I don’t see how your next statement belongs in a thread about “precursors” being addressed.
You don’t understand. Legendaries are already too easy to acquire to be called legendaries. I managed to get one in 2 months gaming with a 60 hour job per week and no RMT involved. Or botting or karma exploiting. If I can do it then most people can. They just don’t have patience is the only problem. And ANet stated that legendaries should exist in less than 5% of the total population.
Such threads make my head explode. Average people want to achieve exceptional things by non exceptional deeds. WTF……

You can add the audio bug with fire elementals to the list under Audio.
You know the sound of someone smashing tinfoil baking trays at 1000% volume in the middle of Karma grinding in Orr or just in general? Yeah, that’s the elementalists fire elementals wings flapping and it drives me insane.
I love that bug. I make sure I run circles around my brother when it happens.
Elementalist tooltips seem to not have been updated to reflect the massive beta nerfs. That and various skills and traits are bugged so do not match them.
That the Mad King’s Descent extra fun, watching my less informed Elementalist brethren falling to their deaths, after mimmicking the other classes.

Have not been crafting for a bit, and I come back and see the price of tier 5 mats has absolutely skyrocketed. Did Anet patch the drops after Halloween or something? I am really regretting not buying thousands of large bones during the Halloween event, now…
I absolutely love the idea of one time events – they add richness, lore and a sense of realism to the game. Creating the illusion of time passing in a game adds a new level of immersion and surprises keep the game fresh.
Personally, I would even go one step further and have some events happen unannounced.
Why is it that players are so resistant to new and slightly radical ideas? Surely the whole point of an MMO is that the game continues while you are not logged on.
That would be great…if the world did not exist, and we could live in the MMO.
Agreed. They need to repeat the events. Oceanic players are particularly impacted.
The irony is that the majority of the Sea of Sorrows server will miss most of timed, Sea of Sorrows events, due to being Oceanic players. Cheers Anet.
WvWvW is all about the staff.
Yeah, after steamrolling SoR everytime we are able to field a force of similar (but usually smaller numbers) I must say SoR is not, and will not be a tier one sever. Last evening, I watched IOJ fight both servers with a smaller force and dominate.
All of the chest pounding is laughable as WvW is 100% a numbers game. Bigger server, better time coverage = the I win button.

It bounces 4 times as stated above. This means 4 casts are required to hit one target seven times. 4 casts for 19k… sounds balanced to me, especially since the thief is out of initiative at that point. Dancing dagger is at its best vs. 2 targets.

Elementalists had the easily the worst downed state before they buffed it. So Anet are looking into downed states.
