Pretty basic signet aura stuff, assuming you run a bit of boon duration you dont have to spam fire signet, fury uptime and swiftness are almost 100% protection is lower.

Left the armor and weapon slots empty, going with zerker I’d take a blackberry pie for the 40% lifeleech on crit.

I didn’t think about that for air’s knockback, but i did suggest that with earth’s shockwave.

I only talked about things I actively notice while playing. I see nothing wrong with water’s auto attack…or anything wrong with fire to be honest.

Ok my bad, I meant keep them as they are in terms of hitbox as well.
Single long columns with 5 (or more in case of earth 5 iirc) targets.

The water auto radius increase was actually rather pretty, now you can dance around that ettin at the harpy fractal while healing.

While we do need a more reliable way to apply bleed than eruption, blasting staff makes it large enough to be almost (not sure) as big as a cap point so it’s good enough denial, can’t afford to speed it up too much. Same goes for ice spike, giant circle is giant and spammable, love that thing, would buy a skill skin to make it look like the jade golem version.

Stoning applies constant weakness which is rather useful, at least at pve, adding bleed and/or removing weakness would make things a bit bland when it comes to variety, since it’s the only source of that condition for staff.

Unsteady ground could be detonatable, to please all the people that used its previous version to kite people.

Air auto is actually rather nice for structures when it doesnt fizzle and go to infinity and beyond, you can hit jormag for example all 3 times with it.

Shockwave does need some more bleed or 1-2 seconds longer immobilize.

Good, now this is going somewhere, since there is a specification about limits.

Are you implying they can stay in the conjurer’s hands indefinitely?

Also what about cooldown?

What if I drop the conjure or run out of charges and some ally has still got his/her own up? Will in that case the skill get greyed out again when it’s reused?

What happens with multiple conjures, can I share 3-4 different ones that way?

Okay guys, you gotta realize that kind of stuff will NEVER EVER happen.
They’re meant to be niche and relatively unreliable also probably the only line of utilities that is not entirely selfish.

They WON’T become like kits, they WON’T get rid of the limitations (time, charges).

Every 6 hours or so a thread about this pops up and its all the same, try to work with them the way they are now or don’t bother at all if they are that restricting to you.

BlackBeard has made a nice thread about it iirc as has Fortus, trying to fit them in their respective builds.

Your response really isn’t that helpful. The OP has constructive feedback which is precisely what we’re supposed to discuss. If you think there are too many conjure threads and that they all say the same thing, why not ignore them? The OP was clearly titled as a conjure thread.

That being said, I think we should continue to push this idea. Here’s why:

Anet: “We want you guys to use conjures! Here we changed them so now they’re like way cool and useable lol”

Us: "We don’t like using them because 1) we can’t swap in an out of them despite our class “mechanic” relying heavily on attunement swapping; 2) there’s both a time and charge limitation—lose one, either one. Those are the major problems with conjures, neither of which have ever been addressed."

Anet: “But we, like, want these to be a super cool ‘niche’ weapon!”

Us: “It’s not a ‘niche’ if no one uses them. Then it’s just ‘unused’”

The only helpful thing i can think of at this point (because we have seen those suggestions over and over again) is to make stickies with discussion on each aspect, such as glyphs, conjures, signets, cantrips, traitlines, weapon skills.

Point being, its all forum clutter and after some point it feels a bit trashy seeing the same subject being talked over on the front page in 5+ different threads.

On the conjures subject, I assume you’re talking about pvp and wvw, since many builds revolve around LH and it’s certain we’ll see more about the rest (at least at pve) with lava axe being a mightstacker, icebow having an actual strong use with #2, earthshield being completely reworked.

P.s. Beautification such as that might as well make the whole subforum actually pleasant to surf through and even catch anet’s eye.

Used icebow 5 yet? I got a few unjustified misses because of range when people move around too much.

They were within the 900 radius however it fizzled. (No stability, no evasion, no block.)

i really don’t understand this glyph. I might have to google it because when i use it, nothing happens. Can i not use it on a player that is dead? I’ve also ran up to someone on the ground who wasn’t dead yet but downed and ( i was set to fire so that i can come back if i fall) used the glyph of renewal…..nothing happened so i bent down and resurrected them.

I’m not sure what is going on, but that is how the last 3 times have gone for me. I know it has worked a few times but i have to be doing something wrong. At first i thought i was just out of range, but the last 3 times i made sure i ran next to them.

Also the spawn time is way to long for this to be helpful.

The glyph works as intended but the range isn’t constant so it feels clunky as hell, you can only rez downed people not dead.

help me understand no ele buffs.

Scholar runes are not that expensive anymore, maybe 10-12g for a whole set if you are patient. I’m almost done my 2nd 500 craft to fully get into d/f but i’ll probably use 0/30/10/10/20 for fresh air, the damage boosts, and vigor/boon-on-swap. Not sure on utilities but all signets might be best until I get used to the rotations.

Why not stone splinters instead of vital striking?

Isn’t stone splinters bugged to 5%?

I don’t like invuln capping. The elementalist has access to 3 invulnerabilieties: Obsidian Flesh, Mist Form and Vapor Form. With these, the ele can hold a point 1v5+ for at least 10 seconds. Plus the time he stays alive. It’s just an annoying and cheap mechanic and eles definitely won’t be allowed to keep that.

If the elementalist gets overused in tPvP after that change, I foresee a dark future for eles:

  • First, there will be completely unrelated nerfs, which do not affect the new bunker at all, but hurt elementalist in PvP/WvW: a higher cooldown here, lower damage there, 30 icd on aura share.
  • Then, the invuln skills itself will be nerfed: obsidian flesh locks the skill bar, mist and vapor form duration gets reduced by one second. In addition to +5-10 second cooldown on each, of course.
  • Finally, the week before the next big PvP turney, ANet decides that invuln capping is a cheap mechanic and will be removed again
  • In each of the balance updates, warrior and a random underused class gets buffed.
  • In March/April 2014 I’ll link to that post to say: Told ya.

Add one more invul by earthshield.

Maybe ANet doesn’t want the Conjures to be too similar to Engie’s kits, so they decided to put (arbitrary) mechanics in place to force Ele’s to re-equip the weapons periodically?

Personally I would love to see them do away with both the limited duration and the charges. Thoughts?

Highly unlikely to ever happen, especially when it comes to the fgs, hell even the hammer would be stupid to stick around, despite all the people here crying that it locks us out of our mechanics you can still build around conjures and be on par when it comes to pugs, wvw and pvp not so much,(if at all) unless you’re some sort of roamer that ganks afks with icebow 5 + lf opening.

That said I’d love to see restrictions lifted, being a conjure fan myself.

True, but generally speaking ele is easily among the top “fun” classes to play in a sense of challenge and variety.

Which is prolly why people still bother with it instead of massively rolling warriors or rangers lol.

I for one am excited. I like the conjured weapons, even though they need—and apparently are getting—some love.

I know people long ago were screaming for ele weapon swap, well I’ve always seen conjured as those weapons. Staff for support (range)? Need to get in there? Switch to hammer. D/D? Need to back up but still deal dmg? Use that axe. etc.

I look forward to conjure buffs. I use hammer/bow/FGS as is. It’s fun sharing weapons too. I want to love the shield, but in its current state, I can’t take it over the hammer for example.

I’ll post my conjure build a bit later. It does very well in PvE. None of this applies to PvP…another beast altogether.

I could’ve done a lot better, but that’s both of them. It’s not as faceroll as a the warrior, but an ele is never going to kill mobs as well as a warrior or necro and it’s a fundamental part of the class.

This and the “pve viable staff” thread made me chuckle, I mean why wouldn’t staff be viable for pve. Also it shows how stupid it feels to have lf not stunbreaking. Nice vid.

Yeah, I’ve been playing my ele for about 2 weeks now, and have a guardian as well. These videos seemed… disingenuous in that I can do better with the ele after 2 weeks than that.

You want to see a profession with a high skill ceiling? (because that IS what we are talking about) Try just clicking skills on the basic Engineer build. There is a study in a high skill ceiling with a VERY low reward, out pacing ele by quite a bit.

Also, conjures ARE OP. I <3 them.

Actually I’d like to see the 2-week-old ele swagging the npcs without the conjures and d/d or d/f in under 2 minutes or even 1.

Bragging is cool but vids proving it are far cooler.

Engi is much more flexible on top of being harder to play isn’kitten

Wrong, to boost conjures you have to get all the situational damage amplifiers and sit on one attunement while you mash away, and they’re pve only when it comes to dedicated builds.

At pvp you can only use them for niche builds exploiting the low cooldown version of fire staff retreat on lava axe, the cc of hammer, and perhaps siegebow’s 4-3-2 or even 5 if you catch some poor sod COMPLETELY off guard.

Shield’s far too situational to be used consistently and fgs is just fgs.

In fact dedicated conjured builds only need a 20 in fire for conjurer, the earlier I mentioned for pve are speedrun specs.

The first question about this contest is whether it would be alright to use a different weapon. That says a lot. I am willing to allow conjured weapon, for now. If someone thinks that conjured weapons are too strong to make this a real competition, then state that. No one wants boring video or an event that will not help the Elementalist get the changes in the long run.
I would like to see the mobs defeated with mainhand dagger equipped. If that is only possible by avoiding actually using the mainhand dagger, then d/d and d/f are in an aweful state. Remember, Ele only has five weapons for killing these mobs. Someone will probably point out that each weapon is like two weapons because of the attunements. To that I will make the point that, if two sets of the five are broken, then that equates to four broken sets (four out of ten – 40%).

I recorded and will upload tomorrow a vid of the challenge completed with icebow in less than a minute, however it IS incredibly cheesy as a tactic.

Maybe it can be used as an “avoid” kind of video.

Conjures are prolly a no since you can kill one of them in about 15 seconds with em.
Or less.

Tackled the challenge with icebow took me about 45 seconds to kill both with a cheesy damage amplification build and signets.

0/0/0/0/30 will always be top dog, unless you make staying in two attunements only viable. The only way to balance out would be to make one attunement very powerful and locking out another, otherwise people will just stay in 0/0/0/0/30 forever.

You say it would limit Viability? NO, IT WOULD MAKE YOU AT LEAST HAVE 3 x Each Weapon set in viable specs!

Your not going to gain anything unless your willing to sacrifice and simplify your class, right now if they give you any meaningful buffs, it will just make highly skilled people gods.

It would make people who can’t play that well, normal. People that play very well so good that nobody will want to play anything besides Ele.

Seriously guy, shut up and go back to your warrior already, or learn to use LH if you want something that dumb and pointlessly easy to play.
