Main reason why I purposely set aside a vista to stop from getting map completion. While it’s not a significant, it’s still a disadvantage.
About a month ago, Jason King said in the game bugs forum that it’s a bug, and they’re fixing it. It’s not being fixed, though, because it’s not a bug.
Transmute Rare skin on to Fine item, you get a Fine item… That’s just how transmutation works.

again, to clarify, as far as my understanding is.. 100% map completion is independent from the Explorer Titles. i will be able to field test this as i am sitting at 99% for map completion, and have a few areas here and there missing from exploration.. i do plan to get these done as well, which i fear will be slightly tough, just because you don’t have counts such as the hearts or waypoints, etc for 100% map completion.
@Hycinthus – if you mean story mode dungeons, i believe they don’t count either. i have only done 2 story mode dungeons and am nearing 100% map completion. i’ve counted the PoI and Skillppints i’m missing on Malchor’s Leap map and they match up with the total number of thingys i’m missing. : ))
Dungeon waypoints and such do not count since they reset on every instance. The only items that count towards map completion are vistas, waypoints, skill points, hearts, and poi’s. Whether you’ve found every area is irrelevant. I’ve hit 100% completion 3 times and there are still areas that I need to discover.
blackgates is currently open.
I can vouch for this. In fact, all shrines are open.

@Death Reincarnated: You should read his post right above yours.
@Hycinthus: I’m not certain if it’d even do that for zone maps but I’ve seen it done to world completion. I just thought I’d mention it in case there happened to be zones where that applied.
@TheOceans: Don’t use any more money to visit areas looking. I’d ask if you could use some video screen capture and scan your entire map and I’d look for you and see if I can find them.
It’s because a lot of events get stuck. This by no means is a permanent fix but allows those waiting to complete events/skill point challenges to be able to do them. I was thinking that they can just do it when dailies reset that way everyone will know when it happens and can plan accordingly.
So a reset removes all siege? I’ve never been in WvW when there was one so I don’t know. I suggested a day wince waiting an entire week is frustrating to a lot of people and this could quiet a lot of them down temporarily.
I thought the stealth timer for the wells were only 3 or 4 min?
A lot of the buys/glitches in the game can temporarily be fixed by resetting the servers. How about resetting the servers daily until you get everything worked out?
Good way to stop people from getting map completion and going for their legendary. The only item that is impossible to get without claiming a temple is the one for Lyssa. All others can be gotten solo.
EDIT: Never mind. You can grab it from outside the barrier.

You craft them. You can also salvage them off of armor/weapons.

Dungeons, PVP, and Lost Shores DO NOT count towards your map completion.
I suggest not to check for the map to show 100% completion since that percentage is often rounded. You should always be checking for the individual items that you’re missing.
Went through each explorable zone and city this morning checking for 100% completion. All are completed, also revisted Southsun Cove, Chantry of Secrets(from both directions) just in case. as well as the WvW Red/blue/green & Eternal.
I’m really at a loss as to what or where they could be now
(
Did you check for 100% completion or did you check for the things that you’re missing. The percentages are sometimes rounded up. I’m willing to bet you either missed something or accidentally passed over checking a map thinking you had already looked at it.
Give them until the end of December. You have to realize that the Lost Shore event happened the weekend before Thanksgiving. I’m sure the majority of their employees took the week off to be with their families.
Dredgehaunt was not that bad.
You can get armor by killing things but I usually buy mine off the trading post. You’ll get a lot of money off monsters you kill so pick up everything. I normally just see everything to a vendor and keep on crafting materials for the trading post.
You do not need a guild or party to do 95% of the content in the game. The only thing that I can think of where you’ll need a party would be for dungeons. This is not saying that parties do not have their uses elsewhere.
I personally start off by going to all of the cities in the starter areas (there’s five) and Lion’s Arch where I’ll find everything for that area. When I mean everything I mean going for map completion by finding all of the vistas, point of interests, and waypoints. I then start in a level 1-15 zone and do the same as the cities but also get the hearts (quests) as well. Once I’m done I go to the next level 1-15 zone and finish it and so forth working my way up to the level 80 zone. This is what a lot of us do but there are many ways to reach level 80.
Yes guilds or a lot of the enemies usually build siege etc and camp.
I just find it odd that they would rather camp a side feature of the WvW map than winning the WvW match, the main objective of the map.
Then again, I was told it is just from a particular server, so I guess it is their thing.
It actually prevents the enemy from getting siege
Siege are so cheap though but then there’s those that find teleport costs expensive.
Yes it’s always been like that and likely won’t change. Gather up enough people at the end of the torch area and have a mesmer run up there and port people up.
Unless you’re playing with people using voice chat, it’s quicker to solo. I also don’t group because I don’t want to be obligated to them and I play at a much faster pace than others.
I was referring to XP from mobs. I’ll update my post with that.
No EXP received from mobs if you’re 5 levels or more below the map min level range.
I consider this more of an anti-power-leveling measure. I see all of the botters powerleveling themselves in high level maps. For instance, last night there were about 5 naked players in their 40’s killing polar bears in Frostgorge with a lv78 leading the way.
I don’t see any reason why someone would attempt to kill something that’s five levels above them which means this won’t have an impact on 99% of the player base. The rare exception are those who kill things higher than them for the challenge. This should go by the scaled level so those doing events where they’re scaled up will still get EXP.

I thought that the waypoint prices were based on how distant the waypoints were, and was very dismayed to find that the prices went up with your levels. If waypoints were based strickly on distance, it wouldn’t be so bad. I also think that teleporting back to your home city should be free.
Prices do go by how far you are. It’s just that the price level scales based on your level.
I understand there should be a cost for waypoints to teleport but it seems an awful lot for how much I earn. Also, if you die not only must you pay repairs but pay to rez also? I think they should make it free to rez at nearest waypoint and reduce the cost of teleporting a little bit
I like the idea. Bill us for any other point, but the waypoint that’s closest should be free.
I’m with Dhar and Ehoreth. This is a good idea.
I think waypoint costs are too expensive at high levels, especially when you don’t really earn much unless you play the trading post. Making the closest waypoint free would be a nice compromise to not totally eliminate waypoint costs, but lighten the ridiculously high prices of teleporting.
If you do events and kill things then you’ll make enough to cover the costs. Waypoints are still pretty cheap.

The best buff to your jumping skills is mesmer portal.
Totally agree, i did skipping stones on the Lost Shore event, did it first time not enough ppl to do the champ, then the second time someone offered a short cut as in portal, still not enough ppl to do the champ, did it again, still as frustrating, but least there were enough ppl to do the champ, if someone had offered a portal again i would of took it.
Technically you don’t even need a mesmer for the lost shores one since you can bypass the entire puzzle.
Try and do it Monday. I think they normally reset the servers late Sunday.
If you sell everything then you probably make about 10 gold per character. After that you’ll have to farm gold or try and play the market.
EDIT: Fixed typo
(edited by Ayrilana.1396)
If you can use FRAPS (or some other video recorder) and post it on YouTube, I can tell you which ones you’re missing. Without being able to see your map there’s not much I can do.
The game does round map completion. One time I did have 100% world map completion but was missing a couple poi’s. Maybe if the map is large enough that the map completion percentage could be rounded up? I suggest to check all maps but look at the waypoint completion rather than the map completion percentage.
The cheaper way would be to look at a map online that has all of the waypoints and then compare it to your in-game map. If you see ones that not on your in-game map then you know you’re missing it.
(edited by Ayrilana.1396)
Rather stupid question, but have you gotten all of the WvW maps? As in, all three Borderlands?
I’m not certain if the PvP lobby counts, but consider checking there as well.
You get all waypoints to a WvW map the second you zone into it. Since he’s missing two, it can’t be from there.
The jumping puzzle in Eternal Battlegrounds is good practice.
There isn’t. You have all of the PvE zones, the racial cities, and all WvW maps which you automatically get when you visit each map.
You’re missing something.
A lot of people will be reluctant to give away their best farming spots because then those will be so overcrowded they won’t be able to kill as many.
I have to say, when I started this game, I was HORRIBLE at jumping and personally, I find speed boosts more difficult, and absolutely HATE it when someone puts them on me. My bf uses the w key to move, where as I use the two mouse buttons. He says it is harder my way. How do you move? Have you tried the other way? He says you have more control with the wasd buttons… but I am used to using the mouse.
It depends. If I need to do a jumping puzzle fast then I use your way since a turn of the point of view with the mouse also changing where the character looks. If I used the keyboard like your bf then I’d have to stop and turn my point of view. This is one reason why people had difficult doing the Halloween and lost shores jumping puzzles.
If there’s no rush then it’s up to personal preference.
Have you tried the cities?
It’s likely from whoever made the guide.
I’ll just point out to those that haven’t bought the game that they should not buy it. From what I have seen in the guide, it’s worthless and very outdated. Look to these forums, the wiki, and other free sites for information.
It costs money to continually provide added content, features, support, run servers, etc. There is no monthly fee for this game compared to others so they have to make money somehow. This is nothing new to any MMO player.
Mesmers have an elite skill that does in when they’re within the circle
The only reward for 100% world map completion is a little exp and two of the gifts of exploration. That’s it. These are used for the legendary weapons so unless you already have all of the other components, what’s the rush?
They’re not going to change it because a small percentage of the population doesn’t want to do the WvW portion like so many of us have done. A lot of us have done this numerous times already.
Please allow us to be able to stack all of those Black Lion sickles, mining picks, and axes to quantities of 100 like all of the others. With you making them account bound it only seems like this would be the next logically step.
Yeah. I didn’t really do any any dynamic events so it should be.
Well I normally go for map completion when I level and I complete all of the starter zones including the cities first. I believe you’ll come out at lv25ish when you’re done with those. You can then hit the four 15-25 zones.
It’s entirely up to you on how you want to play. I like to be above the max level when I do a zone. An you can do this for most of the game with the exception of a few spots but you can use crafting daily achievements to cover this depending on how often you play.
Try going to the other starter zones. You can do this by going to whatever starter city you’re at and then going through the purple portal to Lion’s Arch. Here’s you’ll find other portals to the other starter zones.
If you’re struggling on them then just come to Blackgate server and I’ll port you to them. You lose the experience of finishing it but sometimes it’s worth it if it’s frustrating you that much.
I can also give advice on how to do them since I’ve done those three times at least.
…besides the challenge of getting up onto the scaffolding in the middle of a war zone…
The trick is to use the shield generator from the crates (part of the heart/quest there) and then use it on your way there by have the shield overlap each other.
(edited by Ayrilana.1396)
You’ll find that trying to fight at a distance to be very difficult in this game unless you have something (pet, summon, etc) to distract it. Otherwise you’re just using ranged attacks at point blank.
You could kite them but I fond it to be more of a hassle than it was worth. In fact, it seemed to take much longer than if I just tanked it.
If you’re having problems then I suggest speaking on map chat and seeing if anyone wants to group with you. If you’re trying to do a particular skill point then I’m sure you can also get someone there to help you.
The game is about personal gain, not group gain.
Then explain why I can’t see or pick up items that enemies drop for other players, and explain why all players who help kill an enemy get equal experience, instead of giving it to the player who gets the kill shot or distributing it according to contribution.
You’re using the wrong logic. None of those have anything to do with personal gain in terms of this game.
If you’re not begging then what are you doing?
Well you then buy up the market after the prices have fallen and wait for the drop rate to be nerfed.
Take an appropriately geared character to WvW and test the damage against a random creature. Create a new character of the same class, go to WvW and attack the same creature. You’ll notice a significant difference.
Also compare your stats as well from each time. When you’re scaled up all that’s it’s doing is creating a kittened lv80. The difference depends on how many levels you are scaled up and how current your gear is.
For all those complaining about MF:
Have you actually compared damage output with MF gear vs gear with other stats? Have you actually compared damage output with MF gear vs lower tiered gear that a lot of people use? Have you considered player skill?
I think you’d be in for a shock.
That is actually not what i claimed. What i said is if people use terrain to their advantage in combat, it’s not an exploit. It’s using the designed combat area, as intended.
There are cases where using the terrain would be an exploit.
Let’s look at some.
So if the terrain allowed them to skip an entire boss then it’s not the players’ fault for taking advantage of it but the developers for not preventing that from happening in the first place?
In three characters.
YES.
Well there’s no point is continuing this with you further. It has been stated by Anet that this is an exploit and we have seen plenty of evidence of people banned for doing things like this. Whether you agree with it or not doesn’t matter.
You’re right, my opinion is exactly that. However, given the quote from a dev the very thing being complained about in this thread is not an exploit. You can be struck by the Boss which invalidates the claim of an exploit.
It’s an exploit.
Standing on a rock/ledge/platform while the boss attempts to hit you from below (yes there are some bosses that still have abilities that hit you), is a problem with pathing and the boss not resetting when it can’t reach the target. This is exploiting a bug.

think of wvw as pve, except your mobs are smarter and move in groups, so you have to move with “npcs” as well or get left behind
Hmmm I’m not sure I agree with this statement. Are you really sure they are smarter?
Debate-able. With some of the things I have seen, I can see where you’re coming from.
Its supposed to be hard, the drop tables are better.
Hard is one thing, impossible is totally another. I am not able to explore either of these two Zones on my character because I am constantly “dead” from being overrun by enemies.
There is a difference.
Not impossible when a lot of people have no issues. You just need to rework your strategy.
The WvW achievement is easy to get within a few hours if you’re part of a zerg.
The majority of people who participated in part 2 and 3 of the event this weekend easily hit 200. Many did it before Sunday’s event. Everyone was scaled up and had a chance to do the monthly for karka kills. Catering the monthly to low levels reduces the number of things that can be done for the monthly. The majority of players have a lv80 so that gives Anet flexibility in creating different tasks.
The fractals is still scaled to lv80 and you only need to complete 7 fractals. Dungeons are just as easy and a lot of people do them extremely well.
With the reward that you get, there should be some sort of effort made on the player’s part. Unless you’d prefer the monthly to be scaled by level whereas a lv20 only needs 12 WvW kills, 1 dungeon completed, 2 fractals completed, and 50 karka killed. Of course you’d also get 25% of the reward.
