Here’s a short clip of [Seed] and some pugs getting attacked by a HoD group trying to ninja Bluelake after we cleared NSP out.
P.S. sorry for the bad editing
P.P.S. paxa might want to watch itThis is your big paxa fail? I count atleast 15 guys there, plus npc commander which can 1 shot people and actually did to one of the paxa guys. So 15 plus commander vs their 5 and you expected them to win?
Lol, there was 6 of us guildies there, with 2 pugs. There was at least 6 PAXA guys that ran up and we were inside an NSP tower. We just got done fighting off a 10~ish man NSP-named NSP guild and were trying to cap when they ran up. Killed the HoD off and capped the tower as well. It was pretty fun, although rather disillusioning as well.
Just from what I can see, 10-11 people all from different guilds +5 from Seed. Those are just the ones that I can clearly identify.
Attached is a screen-cap from your video in which I highlight the tags.
Facts suck eh?

Wait, thread creator doesn’t even know how to use the dps from other attunements while using a staff? I think we found the problem.
“I smell like pomegranate.”
Some of you really need to play some of the older fantasy games. Daggers were one of the few weapons that mages were allowed to use. That and staff/fists/conjured weapons.
Also, the staff isn’t currently a “hardcore underdog” spec. It is made for groups/zergs. You have stun/chill/cripple fields and good aoe attacks as well as good heals.

People call me bad So, I’m disappointed to see that no one replied to my posts or sent me personal message. Oh well, I guess there isn’t any advice a baddie like me can benefit from hearing. I’m going to keep playing like I do!
See you on the battlefield Win or lose, let’s have a great time. That is why we play and continue playing.
If you want to become a better player, 1v1’s and small group fights are always good to hone individual skill, especially when you fight the same person multiple times as this allows you to learn how to counter the enemy.
If you’re ever interested in duels or what not with constructive feedback from your opponent, just give me a shout on the forums or in-game.

Im done with this thread. Nothing to prove. Ill go back to mashing 1 and clicking my skills. [PvP] will see the rest of SF in WvW. it’s been fun rolling with you guys and I am glad we have been able to put aside our differences as guilds. Maybe when these small 5 man super group/guilds ever reach the guild sizes we have they will remember that its not about individual players but the synergy you bring within the group. Take what you want out of our videos, but do remember when going up against guilds like TK and AGG in tier 8 that we tried to be nice. Yes we wiped, we wiped many times as a guild, we had bad nights, things didnt go right but we still had fun and never QQ about it. CoSA, KING, SEED, and the others I havent mentioned, lets kick kitten now and in the next tiers to come.
Bye bye
Sidenote: [Os] its been a pleasure wiping to your guild. See you guys in WvW

This in a nutshell . It would take an actual alliance to beat JQ at this point. Problem is 3rd place would really get the shaft
We could always merge BG server and SoR server.
You know that won’t happen, although a collapse from a big server with the transfers aimed at either server could do the trick.
Hey, u still missing T1 lol
Not at all, but I still do have some friends in T1 so I am interested in seeing where that match-up is headed. :p

HoD and NSP fighting together against SF. And then check emotes. All class guys.
Oh no, they didn’t let you zerg their 1v1’s with even numbers? How unfair. Those meanies, beating you against the odds and all. How rude.

Here the thing pal, Daoc / WAR had Zergs. I get that non-experienced players want to run with backup close by. The argument is that it is ALL YOU CAN DO. When entire servers cant even name 3-5 small man consistent teams on their own server then the respect level just plummets. 100s of people and No one wants to try how challenging running around with 5-even 10 can be ? Just log in and right to 40? There’s no challenge in that.
That is the main issue as well for me. The zergs are a part of wvw as you cannot 5-man a keep when there are defenders, but roaming on a map and not finding a single smaller enemy group willing to challenge themselves is quite disheartening to say the least.
Although I did come across a gutsy necro from SF the other day. She watched me 1v1 a warrior and only jumped in after I finished him. After I downed her, I bowed and walked away, because that type of mentality deserves respect.

Yes, it is a fairly useless mechanic. But it’s still a mechanic, which has WvW specific features. Meaning at least one of it’s uses is for in WvW. I think the fact that you can’t see all the players all over the map even in a squad would even hint that it’s not meant to be a largely scattered group of 50 players.
Aza, my post clearly points out one such system that you are requesting. However, my intention in mentioning it isn’t to bring to fact the features that it implements, but rather that ArenaNet decided to do things differently than Blizzard. Of course they made stuff stick to your immediate 5 person party – can you imagine all the stacked buffs going around if they made it so 50 people could stack buffs on all 49 other people in the area?
To everyone saying that they play for fun and not seriously – That’s all great. However, you have to consider whether WvW is actually built to be the way you want to play. If you want to play one way, and another server wants to play another way, you can’t just complain because they don’t play for the reason you’re playing. A little bit of unnoticed information, but WvW comes with server rankings, and a score. If you don’t want to care about that and just want to play for fun, that’s fine. But because it has some of those competitive features, people are going to play as so. If that means running in a 40 man group, then it means running in a 40 man group. But Sorrow’s Furnace is going to play in recognition that there is a points system, and a ladder. They’re not going to ignore that just because you don’t care that there is. WvW wasn’t built around showing off your individual skill. That’s what PvP is for. WvW is large scale combat, between full servers. So if you don’t like that, don’t complain about SF – they didn’t design it, they’re just playing it to spec.
For starters, thank you for replying in a manner that actually furthers discussion instead of the usual “go spvp” slogan.
I wont argue that WvW isn’t a place for big fights, as the pop cap would indicate it is, but I will argue that WvW isn’t a place only meant for zergs.
Now I never actually played WoW and so I cannot speak for that, but from my time playing other mmo’s, the raid mechanic in pvp would allow you to see everyone in group, set up target assists, be able to mark opponents and friendlies as well as in-game voip. These mechanics would allow the raid to fight in a more organized manner with the purpose of fighting.
The commander squad mechanic in GW2 is mainly limited to the supply count and the ability of members to see where the commander is. This would indicate that commanders and squads are meant more for the aspect of sieging towers and keeps as well as their defense. This is understandable as it takes many people to take a well-defended position. This is where I believe the big fights should be happening, or at least the majority of them.
I do not think that 30-man zergs should be capping supply camps for a few reasons. For starters, it takes as little as one person to flip a camp in under a minute. The low level of difficulty in capturing it indicates that it is meant for smaller fights. Secondly, a freshly flipped supply camp can at most supply 10 people. There is no reason to bring 30 people to the camp.
So if 5 people try to ninja a tower and a bunch of enemies show up and clear them, that’s fair enough, but if you have a 30 man zerg running around on a fully capped BL trying to zerg the 3-4 enemies that might want to cap one camp and get some small fights around, then you are not playing as Anet intended you to.

News flash – WvW isn’t about showing how skilled you are by running as small of numbers as you can. It’s World vs World. If you want to prove yourself in a 5v5, there’s a feature in the game called sPvP for that. WvW is designed around large group fights.
That’s funny, because there is no raid mechanic. You can be in 5 man groups and boons/attacks are limited to 5 people. This would indicate that you’re not supposed to run around in 30 man zergs all the time.
I think you forgot about squads?
Squads are not a raid mechanic. They do not grant any type of benefit to large group organization. Have you ever played another MMO to compare this game to?
So please tell me, oh enlightened one, for what purpose were squads created? Just because they don’t function exactly the same way as WoW’s raid system, doesn’t mean they weren’t designed for large group activity.
You didn’t answer my question. Have you ever played another MMO to compare it to? If so, which ones?

People complain about large groups running around all the time. like SvenskNavi said, it’s a war zone. It’s not a coliseum style fight. That’s like Confederates looking at the Union and saying “Lol, You had more people in your zerg, gg noobs”. It’s about objectives. So long as you maintain and acquire those objectives, It doesn’t matter if you did it with 5 people or 50. Points are points, wins are wins. I think people lost track of this important fact.
People play for different reasons. I personally play to have good fights and if you prefer to play so that your server has a bigger number on the score sheet at the end of the week then that is your choice.
As for winning, that depends on what your goal is. If you consider that a win then it is your choice too, however I don’t consider “winning” to be who has the best coverage in order to ensure the most points at the end of the week.
What I consider to be a win is overcoming a challenge due to my ability and focus. Therefore, I win most days when I wvw.

Ah, I’ve been wondering where you guys were. Haven’t seen you guys for like a week and a half…. Did you guys go to Henge?
Indeed we did. Getting better fights here for our group size. Perhaps we’ll get to group v group another time. I edited my ele build and it should be far more effective against mesmers now.

GoM is going to tier 8? Eh, that sucks. They had the only tough guild I’ve come across and I was hoping to get in some more fights.
“I smell like pomegranate.”
I uhhh, kind of went in to troll mode on one of your BG brethren from oPP. I got guildies that actually have field respect for them. So just ignore the trash that I’m currently spewing. I kind of took it personal when I read “JQ always runs.”
My guild members are just getting frustrated of seeing people run away from fights. It’s world vs world, why would people not want to engage in a fight? Specially when the numbers are equal or slightly in their favor?
We have to look hard and long to find good fights in tier 1 and most of those fights that we find are where we are heavily outnumbered. Our group runs around for more than 10 hours a day in WvW and it’s actually tough to find good fights at the moment.
Specially [Emp] is notorious for running home to get a gun after losing a knife on knife fight.
Unfortunately my guild is not around anymore to give you guys tough fights
You guys should transfer to a lower tier though. I honestly think you would enjoy it. There are still zergs, but there are fewer and they are smaller.
Also, congrats SoR on taking 2nd place again. While I read that you guys got some new transfers, I also know that some of you guys didn’t sleep much to ensure it happened.
“I smell like pomegranate.”
There are aspects that both encourage and discourage zergs. The ones that encourage it have been stated numerous times and so I will add something that discourages it.
-No raid system.
Groups are limited to 5 people. No in-game coms if you could have a larger group. Primitive grouping actions. All you have is a pretty basic targeting system. There is no way to mark enemies nor friendlies.

Building on what horse said:
I’m on NSP, and I can say that out of all of the servers we have fought we straight up outclass them in small group play (including AR, who have manvil members that are high up there in sPvP that I have dueled for hours) and go equal if not completely dominate on an individual scale. Our servers guilds are SPCA, tM, XOXO, SPLT. All of these guilds play together in groups of 2 to 5 and there’s no drama or pointless bickering, so no matter when you play you’ll always have good people to play with in terms of skill and attitude. People are free to criticize without egos being involved as well. We also have PAXA, who are currently on HoD just to fight NSP groups. They’ll transfer back whenever they choose to but they’ll tell you the same
On the whole we are many ex sPvP’rs who had originally bought this game to actually play sPvP. Personally I got bored of it after I got to rank 20 in the first two or three weeks and started solo roaming wvw and then eventually moved onto small group pvp. We have extremely top tier guardians, mesmers and thieves (not because they play those classes but because they play those classes better than others) and having an ele would be good as well for the disruption they can cause.
We are currently T7 fighting GoM and HoD and we don’t do romantic walks with them but we can throw them in the trunk with a shovel and take them for a really really long ride to the beach
Since you are being quite kitteny, I have no choice but to respond.
I have only been on HoD for a week and so I have only come across 2 of the guilds you mentioned. They are not small-man guilds. A small-man guild that wipes to even or even slightly superior numbers doesn’t come back with more and more until they can finally win. That makes them raid-babies.
A small-man group will go back to that fight they wiped in with the same numbers and see how they can improve and win.
“I smell like pomegranate.”
Haha, you should do it. Even if you don’t want to join our guild, there are a decent amount of other small guilds on HoD that also like to roam and take on larger numbers.
“I smell like pomegranate.”
Hey guise, stop fighting. You see that scoreline? 30k between 1st and 3rd indicates a fairly balanced fight. Regardless of who wins, it shows that all 3 servers belong in T1. So like… hug it out?
“I smell like pomegranate.”
Join one of the lower tier servers. The zergs are smaller and there is more small group action to be had as opposed to the constant zergballs in the higher tiers.
Also, if you’re a cute east asian girl then come play with us on HoD. We only run small man groups. (3p-6p) If you’re not a cute east asian girl then… well I guess you can come play with us too, but I wont flirt with you nor take you on romantic walks on the beaches of the Cursed Shore. Well I most likely wont, but sometimes I like to have a drink and weird things happen. :|
“I smell like pomegranate.”
I’d be curious to know what new HoD recruits think about this tier 7 matchup? Can HoD or any other server compete in higher tiers or would we get blown out by each and every tier 8 servers?
Having played in the top two tiers for a few months, I can tell you that any server in T7 would get completely crushed. In large part because of the huge population differences, but also because of large organized wvw guilds. Their members may be scrubs on their own, but when 50 people are all on voice comms together, it will generally roll over a pug zerg quite easily. It was quite common to see 200-300 people on the SoR server teamspeak all WvW’ing.

You mean when they were more “evenly” distributed in YOUR favour?
Fact is, each server still keeps good control of their BL which indicates that there is a good population balance.
Yeah. If that let’s you sleep easier at night, you go with that.
You want to explain how the matches, since the current match ups began, were within 10k points of each other…and now HoD is running away with their point total? Please don’t start with the “We’ve been practicing real hard…” meme because we all know that dog don’t hunt.
The complete reversal in the competitiveness of this particular bracket came – conveniently – at the same time that server transfers were opened. So, great! Enjoy your new found leetness. Just don’t kid yourself into thinking that your new found prowess has anything to do with anything other than your new population. Grats!
I was talking about population balance, but it appears as if though you are more interested in score balance. To each their own.
You mean when they were more “evenly” distributed in YOUR favour?
Fact is, each server still keeps good control of their BL which indicates that there is a good population balance.
Honestly, no. GoM has not been keeping good control of our BL. We can’t hold NSP back and that is with HoD leaving us alone most of the time. I could speculate as to why, but there are too many new factors. But it is clear that things are not balanced anymore.
What time slot do you play in? I generally WvW sometime during 17:00-0:00 EST and it is hard to penetrate into BLs. At most, someone will manage to push up to a keep, but that doesn’t get held too long either.
“I smell like pomegranate.”
Yeah. These matches were far more enjoyable when populations were more evenly matched. Another big fail for Anet for allowing all of the transfers. Getting flashbacks to a few months back of being outmanned by servers with larger WvWvW populations and long days of spawn camping by the population bloated enemies. And to think…I was just feeling good about coming back to WvWvW the last few weeks.
Meh. Grats on your influx of server mates. I guess this game really is all about numbers.
You mean when they were more “evenly” distributed in YOUR favour?

That is an absolutely terrible idea. You want fresh new matches every week, facing any server? I recently transferred from T1 to T7 and let me tell you, any server in T7 would be mercilessly farmed by a T1 server to the point where almost everyone would stop WvW’ing. It would not be fun for anyone.

haha, that fight at Stargrove was quite funny as it was unexpected. We had just finished clearing the npcs when someone on TS said “uh guys, theres a zerg up there” at which point I charged into your commander as he was attempting to rush into the circle to stop the cap. Ballsy fella.
After having lost quite a few and pulling back to your trebs, NSP showed up and finished you guys off. You guys had some rotten luck there.
“I smell like pomegranate.”
Oh dear, so next time I destroy someone in a fight in WvW, I might be upsetting a 6 year old? That is not a comforting prospect. :|
“I smell like pomegranate.”
Instead of crying about it, perhaps you guys should have done something about it.
Pull all your troops out of EB and move them to a different borderland. If there had been no one to spawn camp, they would have most likely fought each other which would have meant that large portions of GoM and HoD would have been occupied with each other in EB.
The large influx of players on a BL would have meant that you could regain all the lost points of EB quite quickly. So next time, take advantage of a situation that would force your enemies to fight each other, while you can go off for easy pickings somewhere else.
Agreed that would have perhaps been a better strategy. But are you honestly defending openly, this sort of cary-on?
I do not know the details of what happened and it does not matter to me, as there will always be situations that one finds poopy and that are out of our control. I rather focus on how to make best of the situation.

I recently transferred from SoR (tier1) to HoD (tier 7) and the difference is immense. I generally run with guild-mates in 5-man groups and even though there are still zergs in tier 7, the zergs are smaller and there are less of them. I prefer coming across 10-15 enemies than blobs of 50-man zergs.
“I smell like pomegranate.”
Calm down buddy. Population caps are in place to keep things relatively balanced. You don’t want to wait in queue? Then transfer to a lower tier server.
“I smell like pomegranate.”
During the time we fought TC, I came across a lot of “sour apples”. While TC does have a good reputation, it isn’t much different than any other server including my own.
“I smell like pomegranate.”
I know people are going to call QQ, but SoR is to blame for the lack of good fights from BG this week. We only have 1 guild on in BG at this point and they are fighting a large JQ zerg in EBG. Our ppt is ranging from 85-105. While we’re duking it out with JQ and basically all the BL maps are completely silent and have plenty of points to capture, SoR decides to bring their zerg of about 80+ members to attack us at the same time. This is only one out of many instances.
I know I’d say “QQ” if someone else was saying this, but if you want a reason for the lack of effort this week, it’s because Choo & co. are griefing our players when there is already enough stress on our ppt. Not surprised you guys have such a bad reputation.
I just hope our Oceanic & SEA guilds don’t get too discouraged.
Wait, let me see if I understood this correctly. There is a group of players from SoR attacking players from another server? You also wish to claim that this is “griefing” and leads to a “bad reputation”?
It seems that I have completely misunderstood what PvP was about. I thought you had to kill each other, but as it turns out, you are actually supposed to cuddle. My bad.

I generally do not listen to music when wvw’ing as I solo or small group. Being able to hear voices over TS and hearing enemy character sounds is quite important. (you can tell when the enemy uses a certain skill, dodge rolling according to sound if not facing them)
When I do listen to music however, it has to be something not too slow and have hard enough bass. Either hard/tek -style or j-hhc.

My guild [CDS] had a great time fighting on Blackgate Borderlands last night! We kicked the new match off with a pre-reset GvG:
EMP vs CDS Guild Battle
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYbU9TqdrvsUnfortunately my contact from EMP was offline shortly after the first and only round, but we would love to have a rematch!
We’re also interested in more GvG fights against anyone who is willing.
Stay sieged out there!
Why does the fight look like it is 2v1 ? Hmmm, isnt the aim of GvG to have equal numbers?
The CDS commander made a supply count which showed the player count. Any other excuses that you wish to make? I am quite certain that they can be proven wrong just as easily.
No, this is the first im hearing of the vid. Why and how does supply count = player count? i.e a supply count of 200 doesnt mean there are 20 players.
Look at the video. It clearly notes the amount of supply among the amount of players. Perhaps you are not a commander and have never had to use it. Look at the video clearly. I’ll get you the time stamp if you want.

I see an EMP commander saying it wasn’t an even numbered fight. Until he can clarify that CDS won fair and square, I don’t think you should be bragging on the forums.
Yes he could be mad because he lost, but he didn’t do that when EMP lost against VoTF, TW, etc.
No. Watch the video again. The CDS commander did a supply count which showed 14 people around him and if you look at the map, there is one more green dot a bit farther away.
Therefore, the numbers were even and the EMP commander was simply making excuses for the loss.

Funny, we feel the same way about alot of SoR if we’re being honest. Truthfully, anyone from SoR crying foul about bad sportsmanship is completely laughable.
Generalizing a whole server? How “noble” and “classy” of you. I wonder what, apart from servers you enjoy generalizing.

Oh god, what bad sportsmanship. Right after losing, he starts making up excuses that were easily proven wrong. If he can start lying about enemy numbers in a group v group like that, imagine how often they lie about numbers in the open field.
This matter of emp being “classy” must be an internal thing, because I have not seen it displayed towards anyone else. More bad sportsmanship than anything else.

The Funny this is TW want to GvG at primetime when the guild is focusing on defending the map, yeah I can undertand that SoR don’t mind in defending anything cos they lose every week in wvwvw but JQ fight till the match is over.
Yeah, quite funny. I mean, they wanted to group v group when their players were online? How silly. They should want to group v group while they are at work instead. :|
“I smell like pomegranate.”
This is why we are very disinterested in working with TW. We cant even have a conversation without some backended remark or random video that has nothing to do with the situation.
We have a nice collection of screen shots/videos etc of all the slander figureheads from TW but the thing is, we dont care. We don’t throw up little remarks or post pathetic videos of a megazerg to justify our claims.
The reason why we do GvGs is to build respect, show sportsmanship across all the guilds we encounter. We respected all the guilds that have set up with us (VoTF/ICOa,Choo,HB,TSYM) because they are civil about it and are reasonable.
Quite frankly at this rate, TW is the last guild we ever want to set up with. The sooner we drop this petty subject the better. Its not worth the time.
You cannot claim that you do not care and then repeatedly respond. That isn’t how “not caring” works. If you truly didn’t care, then you would not have even tried to arrange a group v group fight with them.

You quaggens took that post serious tho, and that the funny part.
Because you meant it seriously. Of course, I completely understand that you would want to mask your blunder as a joke. I do not blame you for doing so.

30 emp vs 60 TW sounds like a fair match, you guys finally wiped use when you had 80 SOR members.
TW doesn’t ever come close to fielding 60 players. The most I have ever seen them with was 30. But if you need to make up numbers in order to console yourself, then you have the right to do so.
“I smell like pomegranate.”
You know what’s worse than losing? Not even wanting to fight.
I can respect someone who accepts a fight and loses. I do not have any respect however for someone who is not even willing to fight, due to fear of losing.
