I really feel we should of gotten mantras. Yes shouts On Other Classes Are Quick and For the Most Part Good … But nah. I feel like we should of gotten mantras. Things similar to mantra of pain except condi burst or mantras that reveal, a mantra for some kind of teleport… i dunno. I go back and forth between my mes and necro s lot and it to me anyway feels like it would fit. Pretty sure druid is getting them though

As soon as they fix mantras to cooldown when they end like every other skill then it will be a different story because not having to face 6 stuns will be better for literally everyone.

The way I find with mesmers is to los and force them to burn cooldowns then go in. It’s just dodging the burst that can be a bother but if they miss mirror blade its much better. Also because of their clones it actually makes using signet of leeching much more fun because you can et back around 6k hp with i t at best 1v1 a mesmer.

Also zapv because of its higher target cap and better aoe overall in any situation where you have more than 2 targets GS wins out over dagger.

That’s seemingly working as intended actually.

As for the topic, I’m fairly positive minion master reaper will be the tankiest and most difficult spec for most professions to deal with

Mesmer is my main but I’ve basically switched to necro the past few months.

Guardian warrior ele are still the three kings.

Guardian and ele both have viable condi builds right now for both pve and pvp and are still beasts in zerk

Please don’t turn this into developer bashing. Roy did a good job with the base design of the class – and keep in mind it’s not even finished.

It NEEDS constructive feedback and critisism. Don’t attack the developers in such a hard way. I’m reading “fire that guy” – what the kitten? Seriously? Why do you think there is this revenant beta weekend? They want our feedback on it! “Fire that guy” is neither a good, nor constructive feedback.

Write down your ideas, what you think is missing, doesn’t work etc. But not this.

OP’s suggestion is: Get Rob on board. He did a great job on other classes and maybe he can help with the Revenant.

Agreed. We really aren’t trying to bash Roy. However, it’s been 3 years and now they’re making a new class that plays like gw2 in its beta. The way this class is built you would assume they never actually played gw2. It’s a bit scary honestly. From traits to damage to energy management to cast time… the lack of actual stun breakers, the lack of utilities, the things that actually help make each profession different…. yea, I’m concerned.

I agree with most everything you say except this. They asked for criticism. I forget the streamer, his names Joe but his twitch name whatever, he said anet asked him for the gods honest 100 percent truth no matter what and don’t sugarcoat it.

Granted the language here is far more civilized than on reddit, but you must admit there’s no excuse for some of this. This is I believe the third time rev is playable. There’s no way full zerk should hit for 1200. We are all aware of the class not being finished, but in this state it looks like they haven’t even started

Instead of pointing at people and saying that they’re doing their job wrong, maybe focus on giving some feedback from the beta they can actually use? Like discussing particular traits, skills or listing bugs like some people do?

There are post in about 3 forums all crying about how awful the Rev is. They are giving plenty of great feedback. I can copy and past or type them all out right here if that makes people happy but I see no point. This thread is created for one man, and it’s Robert. Robert understands how we play, how we stack, how we evade, our trait combinations, burst vs sustain, healing viability… I can go on. The correct way to fix this class is not with long wishlist and sending it to sana, it’s letting Robert sit there for 48 hours with nothing but a revanent a pen and paper. Again, he isn’t perfect because the necro isnt perfect, but I see what he’s trying to do with it and until HoT comes out I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt.

The problem isn’t that other designers are bad at desiging, it’s that they just don’t play how we do. Rubi I’d go out with you and buy you pretty things, but I’d kick you from my fractal team. Roy wouldn’t be allowed on any dungeon speed runs. Robert? Id let him pull and call the reflects.

I mean none of it with disrespect at all, it’s simply he’s the guy that’s one of us.

Honestly I’m joking, somewhat. I’m extremely concerned though. I understand it’s beta, but full zerk and l barely hitting for 1800 is… it’s bad. Now we don’t have all the trait lines but my real concern is the lack of weapons swap like most people were already questioning.

No reveal would be better. I’d be all for being able to see the target, but in actuality it wouldn’t work. Nothing gets too class specific and then other classes would get it, just like what happened with reveal. 600 range aoe reveal is the way to go, but I personally would have no problem with seeing in shroud, it just wouldn’t work out well imo

Please take over for the Rev and fix it. Theres no way the expansion is coming out before christmas with the Rev in this state. Your work with the Mesmer is a thing beauty. And while I don’t stand a lot of choices that have been made with the necro in the past, this last patch made it a lot more fun even though it’s still underpowered.

Which brings us to the Rev, which right now looks worse than the Necro ever has which is actually unbelievable. I think you’re the only designer that has a grasp on how people actually play this game. Don’t let the Rev launch be awful. Ty

Imagine this. I log into Facebook and see a msge from my guild mate. It reads…

For a solid 5 seconds I was upset and angry. Then I realized …… Necro is no longer the absolute worst class! There is a very very very good chance that there’s a class that may end up with worse dps than the necro. For years we’ve been the laughing stock of gw2. Every skill and trait we have is borderline lauggable. No ranged power weapon. An axe that can’t cleave. We were banned from dungeons for years.

Enter Revanent.

Now I know it’s beta and there may be time to redeem this species. Necro will never get buffed, it’s been 3 years I’m over it, but I’m happy someone else will get bullied now.

I know that question may offend someone, but it’s an honest question.

All builds have sub par DPS in PVE, and very little utility.

With the recent bumps to other classes the glassiness is unforgiving in WvW. Tie that in with no mobility,very little stab, and weak DPS. Ping pong,ping pong, snared,stunned,dead.

So for pvp:
Condi Cleanse > Condi Build
Dodge > Power Wells
NO DPS & Bugged AI > MM

So, uh, am I missing something here?

My necro is still very good in SPVP and decent in WvW. Though I mostly stopped playing it due to lack of PvE viability as compared to my other toons.

I also almost stopped playing my mesmer, cause so sick and tired of power builds on it. And believe it or not, condi mesmers are even worse in PvE then necros by leaps and bounds. Both are good at PvP and WvW, but PvE condi mesmers are at about 50%-60% current effectiveness of condi necros, it really is that bad. Yea, I know that unlike necros I have power build options, but like I said, bored to tears with that, so they arent really options.

All other professions do good or very good in PvE on condi builds and condi hybrids. My engi takes the cake here by far, followed by ele, then guardian, then war / thief about equal. I was really surprised how strong condi eles and condi guards can be now.

I do not play ranger so can’t comment or compare on that.

Sinister and rampager mesmer is only a drop weaker Than zerker

Actually necros are getting shouts and they’re also getting a warhorn, so this won’t be true unless they give shouts to two professions.

That said, Eles making a fuss about Warhorn is silly. Warhorn is pretty great on all three classes it is on. There’s not much I would trade my Locusts and Wail of Doom for, except for maybe a block, evade, iframe, blink, teleport, reflect, leap or stability. Any of those would be nice, but that’s not the point. I’m sure it will be just as good on Ele.

Here’s the thing. Warhorn is not a bad idea for an elite spec. I think it could add something to the profession.

However, it is a bad idea for the first elite spec. Yes, it could offer new ways to do damage and support….but with an offhand. The issue (as I’ve stated previously in this thread) is that our two other off-hands are the strongest weapons we have after staff. They are very diverse and can bother cover a wide range of situations. Warhorn would have to be as strong as those two in order to be considered a side-grade, but really… Dagger Offhand is great for a close-range brawler while Focus is great for mid to close range with defensive and support options. The two of those cover pretty much all facets of the game.

The issue is that we DESPERATELY need a main-hand to go with out amazing offhands. We are still going to be the only profession without a melee weapon that can properly cleave and use an Auto-attack chain. Lightning Hammer does NOT fit this role as you have to give up 21 abilities in order to gain 5 more. Warhorn COULD be a cone-based damage option…however…then it has to compete with staff.

The elementalist currently needs (from a new weapon) Cleave, Mobility, and Burst. As much as I LOVE the idea of sword filling this niche, I’d be happy with axe or mace as well. Warhorn cannot be able to fill all these niches. It has to be either an off-hand or some cone-based (or worse single-target) ranged damage. Which would be fine IF AND ONLY IF we had other elite specs to fill in the niches we lack. Again, let me reiterate. I agree it can be good. This is just what the Elementalist needs in order to have a full and unique toolkit.

Somewhat on topic yet slightly off topic, I want to try this for fun. My 2nd mesmer I’d sinister and I love it, decided I’ll try a full condi though I doubt it can come close to sinister. Question though, does harmonious mantra effect phantasm damage? Last I checked no one was sure. If so I’d def use it with hybrid build

Pure condimancer doesn’t seem that great, but hybrid transfermancer is pretty legit.

I’m confident reaper with sinister/rampager transfer mancer is going to be pvp meta, or atleast top tier

conditionmancer doesnt suck at all, but necro itself just isnt good at applying conditions. We are like.. a focus point. we may not do much in terms of offense, but our defense will crush you. our ability to convert and diminish makes is a great condi class. I will agree with you in terms of damage, mesmer guardian ranger and engi are beyond us

For pve I like dagger dagger because it’s the most fluid imo. I use it when I’m playing casually. However for dungeons in use staff, and fractals dagger focus. Offhand dagger supplies damage for the most part but staff gives even more damage and utility. Dagger focus gives you more team utility that can be valuable in certain parry make ups

but there are some builds (kiting builds) by some classes that puts us at a big disadvantage from the start.

it is an inherent weakness in the necro that can’t be overcomed by changing builds because there are no such options in our builds.
against a kiter of equal skill, we start at a 30-70 disadvantage regardless of the build we use.
This is a problem because no other classes face this problem. they all have options to come up with a build to fight at 50-50 against kiters or even 70-30.

why is necro the only one that doesn’t have this option?

Have you asked engis about their condi clear? Or mesmers about their ability to fight against kiters?

For me it’s all a matter of adapting. Having a known weakness is fun, it makes it that much sweeter if you can overcome it. If you want a build that can deal with every type of roamer, then I agree with you: Such a build does not exist for the necro, but this is one of the factors that make things fun for me.

And I don’t know any class besides thief that can reliably close gaps against kiting rangers anyway.

Engis condi clear isn’t that awful, plus their healing and regen is through the roof. Blocks and mobility, not to mention stealth, they take way less punishment in fights. I main mesmer and I welcome kiter with open arms. We have reflects stealth and are a better kiting class than most any other for the most part

Alright, I’d like to see some builds if everyone is saying necros can’t solo roam. Solo roaming is about 70% of my playtime nowadays and I feel stronger than ever with the last patch. Before I could barely solo a fully upgraded camp, while now Blood Magic is helping me sustain in shroud.

From my experience a power spec with wells is good to flip camps, while a build with spectral skills is easily the most sustain we can get. I roam against zerker warriors and guards, condi thieves, condi mesmers, power engis and power/condi rangers and while I have a hard time against rangers (ugh Longbows) and Mesmers and Engis after the last patch (luckily grenadier is disabled), guards, warrs and thieves are rather easily scared.

One thing to note tho is that I don’t use any of the necro elites. I either use warband support (charr racial) or Mistfire Wolf for the burning and chill.

You just said longbow ranger, which is a kiter. That’s what this thread is about

When the reaper hits and we have no Death Shroud and no ranged power weapon better than scepter, the class is going to be a complete sitting duck to everybody with a ranged weapon and speed boost.

Maybe axe being awful isn’t so bad now, with life blast on every necromancer, but reapers are really going to miss not having a viable skirmishing weapon.

This is what I’ve been preaching. I sound like a broken record with my constant axe threads on both accounts but I just can’t take it anymord
