Ugh I wish I had more time with this spec, I spent way too much time on tempest. How is scepter looking for chrono?
I’m going to put this here aa blatant as can be. I was not a fan of the rev???? at all and I’m still not. However, the changes roy did to hammer were unbelievable and it’s awesome now so I know he listened. I have lost doubt Roy will make this profession exactly what people want so we don’t have to beg for buffs for over 3 years
I still think minion mancer is superior to signet but what do I know
Robert is busy working on the warrior elite, he’s also doing necro buffs to axe and scepter, and hes balancing the chrono and reaper. I admit the chronomancer is basically complete, but still he’s a busy man
I was in beta but still didn’t get an email
I did It and got up to 3k burns. But this is without the proper runea, sigil and sinister armor. I’m expecting 7k burns constant
All shouts should give stability
I have to say I am not personally a fan of this idea. One will just end up always being the preferred choice.
They need to be balanced separately. Reaper needs to stay melee-oriented to keep its theme intact. If you want a ranged necro, just don’t play the Reaper.
There is a solution to that. Instead to have both shrouds available at the same time, make them interchangeable out of combat, but not tide to the trait line. For this battle I want DS, for next I might want to use RS… Like every other utility skill with small arrow and you pick the one you want to use.
And this prevents people from just always using the superior shroud, how?
Sorry, I just don’t feel this is the right move. It takes away from Reaper’s uniqueness. I personally think it needs to be the melee necro and shouldn’t be able to swap into a ranged nuke stance.
Furthermore, this will hurt Reaper as a whole. It’s currently getting some great talents in the realm of survivability (or they will be great after tweaks) that would be too strong on a ranged class. If the Reaper could go into a ranged nuke stance at any time as powerful as DS, the traits meant to keep it functioning as a frontline brawler would become overpowered and need to be nerfed, thus making the Reaper weaker at the job it already struggles to fulfill.
It’s an interesting idea, and I wouldn’t discourage outside-of-the-box thinking like this, but it gets a thumbs down from me and I don’t think it will happen.
What is this ranged nuke you speaknof? Death shroud does more damage from close, it’s 4 and 5 require you to be be close, 2 is a gap closer, 3 is a fear.
Do you play this class?
All of my fears of this class have come to pass. Traps are useless and the longbow is not an effective ranged damage weapon. This has not only brought nothing new to the Guardian but it also hasn’t brought options for anything old either. Huge disappointment. I’m putting this class and tempest in the trash bin. At least chronomancer and Reaper came out good.
Tempest will be absolutely amazing after beta, just watch. I agree with you on Dragonhunter though
Hopefully not for a very long time. It’s far from ready. Very weak very slow and not viable at anything
While interesting…
Why would you not pick Reaper if it added bonus Shroud?
It’s not alternate playstyle, like Elite Specs were announced to be (although we have Chrono), it’s just level up.
After some thought on this matter I too don’t think it would be a very wise decision. If this elite spec allowed the use of both shrouds it would make them be mandatory for any serious player, and thus we would become pigeon holed even further into one of only a few possible builds.
If greatsword had better LG gen and was less clunky overall, I could see me using a staff as my offhand thus giving me one viable range option for when I need to attack from range. As it sits now though I find I am using axe/focus for the needed vuln, LF gen they offer.
This isn’t true at all. As of right now I’m taking reaper because it’s new and I think it’s awesome, but I’m honestly not sure if it’s even better than baseline necro. Dagger warhorn is better than gs hands down. Reaper shroud feels .. stronger than deathshroud, but I lose an entire traitline to use it. Using reaper almost forces you to use soul reaping. You either lose slite, thus your damage, or blood magic, which lately has become our staple. The more I’m thinking about it the less I’m liking Reaper actually
Wait since when can engi out dps ele
This post is so backwards. Mace is a historically good combat weapon favored by many while hammer was rarely used, just by barbarians that couldn’t make proper weapons
After messing around with all the new elites, I’m happy. Chrono is borderline perfect, dragon hunter although I don’t like guard, is good. Reaper is amazing and just needs some dps buffs. Tempest shows unbelievable survivability, but def requires the most attention.
I think the forge spec will fall between how reaper and tempest are. A lot of support and boons, with Frontline capability. I can’t imagine exactly how it’s going to play out but I’m excited
I’ll get a lot of hate for saying this but it’s because engi is reserved for good players only. When you’re a good player, you see strengths and weaknesses. Engi has far more strengths than weaknesses. While right now we took a recent hit in pvp, I have no doubt we will be back with a vengeance. I’m a necro ele mes main, and I didn’t hop into engi until about a year and a half ago or less and it’s become my fav class. I can’t call it my main because I dwarf it in hours on my others, but engi is amazing
my wishlist: scrap tempest and add a sword duellist with stances. problems solved.
then when your sword is worse than dagger youll cry and ask for a rework right
Agreed and amen. I said this week’s ago and now that I’ve played reaper I confirm
What were the team comps? Or better yet a link to the match
Chrono isn’t op at all but I agree on too much access to slow
Doesn’t matter if they nerf dd cele, tempest can bunker even harder. Watch.
He’s right about survivability though. Aura mancer with shouts I never get hurt at all. Too much healing and constant protection. As it does now, I don’t see tempest being all that, but for fractal 51 plus I Def see boon sharing aura mancer being the thing to have
Superspeed with sword block, then you’re good.
Off topic I don’t think mesmers are op, but they do excel at murdering. I can beat them 1v1 on my necro or engi or ele, but if they ever get the jump on me especially PU I’m done
Turn on superspeed and run. Mesmer won’t catch you, thief might though
im going to mess with it as well tmrw. im looking forward to what you come up with
ahh its good to see my fellow condi mesmer friend making waves. good build broski. I was hating chrono all day today but was using it wrong. ive seen the light
Yes we need to compile all if this into one topic.
Honestly, I was so excited to try Rev out today and I left utterly disappointed. While many are upset about Tempest, I found it to be amazing. I saw people complaining about the Rev and I figured they were just cry babies as well.
First off, I died in silverwaste.
I made a tempest, Chrono, DH, Reaper, and all of them walked onto the story mission and V.Brink no prob. However, my rev died to a troll.
I have never felt so squishy on any class in this game as I do this one. Clearing condis, imo, is annoying. I think all 4 legends should be f1-f2-f3-f4. I had the dwarf and shiro selected and it didnt feel like enough. sword/sword was nowhere near as powerful as I thought it would be. I knew it had no evade on sword 3 but I didnt expect to get crushed using it.
wrong.
All of the healing skills, imo, felt either weak or incomplete.
Staff feels horrible still, even with its increased damage I fail to see what its actual purpose is.
Offhand sword seems ok, offhand axe seems superior for the most part imo. But both have their use.
Didnt play around with mace yet.
a lot of the traits seems somewhat pointless.
Lack of utilities is the thing that I cant seem to avoid. It bothers me beyond belief, but I think thats something you just have to get used too.
I dont see the point of this class besides maybe looking cool. I dont see what role its supposed to have in either pve or pvp. Its damage is ok, its active and passive defense are pretty bad.
I like the hammer a lot though. thats about it
I believe wash the pain away is bugged, it has constantly healed me for 3 ticks for overall 9500+ hp
kinda cool, pre fight were stacking 30 seconds of protection, then might then fury with tempest in party before boon share. really awesome; it def needs some work more than chrono and company does, but its awesome.
alright, now I get it.
I enjoy this for pve now. I wasnt embracing wells fully and was trying to sick with mantras and the harmonious mantra trait. Theres simply no place for that with Chrono and thats ok.
Tempest is better than I thought it would be. Overloads need a serious buff, Warhorn is perfect for close range combat, I can see myself using it in high fractals, 51+. the traits are so so, need work. Shouts are excellent especially with auras. Auramancer will be the main reason to go tempest
so I went dueling dom chrono and I.. I dont like it. Maybe I didnt try it long enough, but shield feels like a waste of time. I dont see taking wells over mantras/feedback. I dunno, its just my first impression and im not fond of it, but maybe im crazy
so far ive only tried it in PVE and I absolutely hated it. ill have to try it again, and in pvp
I actually haven’t seen condi ranger in action. Sigh…. I see less and less reason to use my mesmer
Correct me if I’m wrong, I always thought mesmer’s personal DPS ranking depends hugely on the length of the fight. If it’s short (most of the time if you’re 5-manning), then mesmer’s obviously gonna end up pretty bad due to the phantasm build-up time, but the longer the fight (solos or pug runs), the better will mesmer end up because all those initial skill activation times will get lost in a few minute long fight. Of course you’ll never be able to reach ele-level dps, but I think given the optimal conditions, mesmers could even outDPS rangers or guards (no maths, just my guess).
This is actually why I made this post. I keep seeing people talking about how weak mesmer is, but I remember pre patch numbers said based on phantasm strength and length of battle mesmer dps can be much higher. I don’t see how mesmer dps is lower than necro or ranger.
in terms of dps, whats the order of classes for runs now days, post spec patch?
I know Mesmer does a lot more than it did, but still not super deeps. Obv Ele and Thief are top two, but where does everyone else fall?
anyone crunch numbers for highest-lowest dps since the spec patch? obv ele and thief are still top two, but im curious where engi mesmer and such fall now
dont know if it was posted anywhere else, dont see it on the main page so im just putting it here
Robert Gee just saying the word axe made my life better.
We did it guys
Ugh I wish this video would work for me
Link doesn’t play the video for me of course
Karl played it and got demolished. It was some of the worst beatings I ever saw I got so upset undid t see grouch play though
I much preferred the suggestion to add boon duration to it.
Healing power imo should effect boon duration and condi duration.
My reflex on that was ‘no to condi duration,’ and yet..
I like that idea. 1% boon/condi duration per hundred, and healing power would be a much stronger choice.
It makes the most sense imo. Power builds use power precision and ferocity. Condi use just condi, maybe power, and are forced to get duraturn from runes and foods if possible. If you tie duration with healing power it opens up new rune selection and l viability
Ele scepter is god mode compared to necro axe
Oh come on… As a necro u can be usefull even without using the second main hand. And btw, axe for the necro is a better choice in wvw insted dagger. Scepter ele isnt viable in any modality.
This is the most false post of all time
Ele scepter is god mode compared to necro axe
I much preferred the suggestion to add boon duration to it.
Healing power imo should effect boon duration and condi duration.
I really have no problems on my minion mancer necro vs eles honestly
I think overloads would work a lot better if you could use them from other attunements. So if I’m in air and then the overload is ready, I switch to dire, I think I should be able to pop the overload while in fire and it adds to the cd of air, or something of the sort
Turrets are mediocre in PvE, and barely viable in PvP anymore, they’re fun though.
i wanna do a pet class how is necromancer then ??
Pet class, I would avoid that until the expansion comes out. The pet AI is meh. Now if you’re doing pvp, necro with minions/pets is very good but not in pve. If I was you in would start off as a guardian, and then from playing with other people you’ll see all the classes and be able to choose from there. Personally, elementalist mesmer and necro are my favs. Thief is very fun and strong, ranger is solid to start with as well. Warrior is the easiest class to play and very very good for all content
I sold zap for 4 abyss dyes 3 years ago.
Beat that
