Is the new confirmation box still not enough to get people to double check when they’re clicking?
Does this confirmation box show the stats and attributions of the armor you’re about to purchase in clear view?
Best I got from JP chests was a rare.
It seems we’re really limited on our choices for legendaries and who ever was in charge of designing them seems to have an acute hatred for range users over melee.
Shortbow super happy butterfly unicorn rainbows go!
Longbow tree hugger supreme!
Pistol party poppers!
Why would you ever make a legendary look like this? It only further discourages people from obtaining them. As if the grind for them wasn’t enough.
Will there ever be more choices for legendary skins in future that is aesthetically appealing to more people?
Most popular choice for thief is human.
This has been complained about since the first week of Guild Wars 2. Nothing about it has been acknowledged or addressed by Anet.
So it’s pretty much safe to assume working as intended and won’t be dealt with.
The difference in stats between infused and exotics is overstated at this point. If I can take down a person in oranges while I’m in greens, I can take down a person in infused if I’m in exotics.
There’s a difference between ‘being able to take down’ and ‘having an edge’. Having ascended gear gives you the edge. Doesn’t make you impossible to be taken down.
Knock SoS back to tier 2 will give us a wake up call. I think we got lazy cruising to the top.
SBI showing us why they’re a tier 1 server.
It’s literally quite easy to get materials for exotics if you just farm for the mats you need rather than buy.
Not so easy when the materials required for the exotics is also needed for your ascended pieces and thus you can’t make exotics for your alts because the ludicrous amounts required for ascended back pieces.
Some times when I kill 8 level 80 troll mobs by nuking them down whilst farming and I get no loot from any of them. That does cheese me a little.
The solution is simple, if a bit drastic. All log into W3 and just sit in your keep … maybe have a party … just make sure you lose. Stay in this position until the bandwagonners have flocked off to a plump-looking new server.
Many people on Sea of Sorrows take WvW very seriously. This would never happen.
At the moment Sea of Sorrows is the number 1 server in NA WvW.
You’ll be hard pressed to get in.
Apparently this is what the majority wanted. A grindy gear game.
If the majority wanted it. Why is the majority complaining about it?
The majority is not complaining.
A majority would mean that about 1 million people would complain (based on pre-sales).
That is far from truth. You’re assuming that 100% of purchasers use the forums, when clearly this is far from the case. All strands of evidence point to anti-ascended being in the majority:
1) the 12K+ post thread. this was > an order of magnitude more posts than any other post in the history of the game.
2) http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/74916-ascended-items/ – a sample of 1300 players, 46% of almost 1300 votes are against ascended gear, 31% for.
3) http://beta.xfire.com/games/gw2 – a sample of 4K players – the expansion has barely touch playtimes, and aggregate playtime continues to decline.
There are also people who no longer play the game and voice their opinions on websites such as mmorpg. A lot of it is negative about the new ascended gear.
But I don’t really care that it is a new tier of gear to obtain. Though it does discourage me from gearing up my alts. What I really care about how ever is that it should be relatively reasonable to obtain the stats you want and the look you want.
I could get an endless quiver RIGHT NOW if I so desired. How ever the stats wouldn’t be correct to my build and thus I would be playing sub-optimally. Really poor how this is implemented.
Hate to burst your bubble. But oceanic recruiting drives don’t work out so well. There is only so many oceanics. They’re likely going to stick to servers where there are lots of other oceanics, not be some one’s skeleton crew night shift for WvW.
There’s a reason why all the smart North American players moved to SoS and why HoD as well as ET servers are pretty much dead. It is because the oceanic community will never leave SoS because they have no reason to. Even if the NA players abandon it. Oceanic players have really little else where to go and will still be there.
Can’t really comment on European players how ever. Good luck on convincing them to play on NA servers though.
So SoS, how does it feel to have SBI do their old “you siege a place for a few hours we swoop in and take it kthxbai” tactic on you guys several times?
It isn’t fair, but hey war isn’t fair, but maybe now you’ll understand why the hell we are all so kitten confused on JQ that we get double teamed all the kitten time.
SBI must have a pretty darn good PR machine to keep them so squeaky clean reputation wise cus I rarely if ever see people attack them when they are open. If, god forbid, we leave our flank open for a second its attacked immediately by whomever is hungry.
Probably the reason we are so jaded. Countless times I see us push into SBI lands only for you guys to attack our flank instead of attacking SBI elsewhere. But, whenever SBI attacks us you join in on the party.
Last night we had to try and defend you guys attacking dawn over and over while sbi attacked our bay over and over. Obviously we would lose one. Funny thing is the entire time SBI was rampaging over all of your territory.
First and last wvwvw post I’ll ever make cus in about a few seconds I’ll be called a whiner or a brat. Personally I don’t care. Just pointing out the obvious that you guys clearly cannot see.
People from JQ complaining they’re getting double teamed? Why am I getting a sudden case of déjà vu? This has never happened before!
Seen it today at Dredgehaunt at multiple locations with fir trees. It’s definitely botting.
Fractals apparently exchange fragments for obsidian shards.
This is why there is despawn timers.
Apparently this is what the majority wanted. A grindy gear game.
If the majority wanted it. Why is the majority complaining about it?
The dedicated player base requires these things to be so difficult to obtain that they can be assured when they get them that they’ll be statistically better than most everyone else for a good while. There’s no other reason to play video games after all.
Rather just be best in slot and have my character looking aesthetically good.
Leave the ones who want to have a status symbol to the legendary hunters and 100g commanders.
Is that much to ask?
The ones in the PVE world have a hard reset time.
The ones in WvW are 24 hours after you loot them.
Others told me it resets 24 hours after you open it.
This is correct.
Unless Anet has reworked it recently.

It’s the part of character progression. Slaying thousands of troll will yield you an anscended quiver. If you don’t like it you’re out of luck.
It’s quite frankly lazy game development to artificially extend the game’s life. It discourages playing the game how you want and promotes burn out where you quit the game entirely.
Legendaries are optional. Reason why not many really care to grind for one nor complain about the grind.
If you’re only trying to farm t6 crafting materials you’re doing it wrong. You should be farming t5 materials and upgrading them. You will also get a few t6 drops in this process, too.
It’s very easy to get 100+ potent bloods in an hour or two from various spots in Frostgorge.
Yeah it’s a bit tedious but it’s a much more reliable method than actually seeking out just t6 crafting materials.
Don’t even suggest the mystic forge because for the price of the materials to forge T5 materials into T6, you could literally buy T6 materials straight out for less.
So what are your alternatives if it’s not upgrading t5 materials or buying them outright off the market.
You’re farming t5 materials to convert. The cost to you is minimal at the worst. You might have to buy some crystalline dust but that’s all. You could get anywhere from 20-30 t6 materials an hour by upgrading t5 materials you farm yourself.
I think you missed my point entirely.
When selling the t5 materials on the TP and buying out T6 materials is cheaper. It’s not really an option at all.
Okay? So just farm t5 materials, sell them, buy t6 materials. I don’t see where the problem is*?
Either way farming t5 materials is the best way to get your t6 materials.
*besides the fact that t6 materials have horrid drop rates to begin with
50 of the t5 material, 1 of the t6 material, 5 crystalline dust is worth more than 5-7 t6 material.
So just to recap in price.
50 of the t5 material, 1 of the t6 material, 5 crystalline dust > 5-7 t6 material.
Even if you do sell T5s which you need for ectos. That is still a horrid rate of obtaining them.

But I need those to craft rares and salvage them to get my ectoplasms.
But yes, if you have enough of the ecto’s is probably the best way to do it.
He’s also forgetting to mention you also need http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pile_of_Crystalline_Dust to make the conversion.
Some thing not so easily farmed nor cheap on the TP. Trust me. It is not worth it. It’s like trading 5 T6 mats PLUS extra for… 5-7 T6 mats.

Please explain?
There is a recipe that uses the Exotic back-item from the dungeon shop + a gift of ascension (also from the dungeon shop) + Vial of Condensed Mists Essence + Crystals/Philosopher stones
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Prototype_Fractal_Capacitor_
It’s not this though:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Quiver_of_Swift_Flight
As a short bow user. This is a must.
Please explain?

Is this back piece also a quiver that shows on your back?
Don’t really care about getting it infused. Rather get the stats for general game play and WvW.
But even what you said. 250 ectos and 5 of the mist essences is still way easier to acquire than 250 T6 materials.
But you don’t need 250 T6 materials in order to get yourself a Ascended Back item.
You don’t even need one.
Please explain?
It seems you didn’t look into the requirements to actually make it infused. 250 ectoplasms! and 5 of these condensed mist essences.
But I agree, this is pretty much my only real problem with the gear. It’s a long and tedious process of killing the same kind of mob for over a 1000 times to hopefully get 250 pieces of the T6 fine mats. It’s as exiting as watching a snail crossing a footbalfield.

1 Vial of Condensed Mists Essence. Easy. Done!
-
240 Philosopher’s Stone. I get skill points like nothing for doing the things I love… playing the game! No problem!
-
50 Glob of Ectoplasm. Hmm. That’s a lot. But I can do it! It’s worth it for ascended items.
-
250 T6 fine crafting materials. 250. T6. Fine crafting materials. Especially vial of powerful blood. What… the… KITTEN?!
Alright. I guess I’ll have to work at it. Farm these materials from mobs that drop them commo- oh wait. They drop on average like once an hour from the mobs you farm them from!
Not only that. You have every one crowding the best farming areas so mobs become very sparse very quickly.
T6 fine mats are going for MORE than globs of ectoplasm on the TP. If I were to buy it straight out. That would be over 70g off the TP! I’ve never had more than 30g at one time.
You can self-craft/create ectos on demand and yet there is only one way to get T6 materials that is determined by a low drop loot table. Don’t even suggest the mystic forge because for the price of the materials to forge T5 materials into T6, you could literally buy T6 materials straight out for less.
250 is too much. I’d rather be playing WvW or running some dungeons than killing the same mob over and over for approx. 250 hours. Please reduce this to a reasonable amount. Like 50. It’s not like we’re wanting an epic legendary grind.
/rant
so, about 3 more hours and it becomes impossible for anyone but SoS to win
right now on EB the biggest fights are in the jumping puzzle. I think everyone seems content to ride it out how it has been playing all week. JQ and SBI are very close though. It will be interesting to see if SBI can fight back from last place.
When the beast arena puzzle isn’t being camped by JQ using siege. There is actually some pretty epic fights going on in the puzzle there. Love it!
Funny thing is. If you goto the thief forum. They’re there complaining about mesmers and how they are impossible to kill.
Urban warfare WvW sounds pretty good.
I would really love if they brought back Zaishen Dailies from GW1.
I would really love it if they didn’t. Not every thing from GW1 was good.
a thief just kept using whatever it is that makes them constantly stealth.
I find your lack of class knowledge disturbing. Especially when you’re trying to “fix” what you do not understand nor know how the mechanic works.
It is easily countered. As a thief. I smile when I see this. Because it shouts free kill to me.
What is there to fix? That champion was only added to make it harder for people to get their Orichalcum, in order to make progression slower, and increase the grind.
You know, it’s making it harder to get to the only other Rich Orichalcum node in the game. The other is in Eternal Battlegrounds in the jumping puzzle. I will note, you can leave off this one and there are still . . . two? Three? . . . nodes in the area, and the several still on Orr and the two in Frostgorge.
They put the Champion Karka there because, well, they realized there wasn’t any kind of challenge to reach it other than running the distance. I’m not happy about it, either, mostly because there’s exactly zero interest in killing it.
There’s a “rich” Orichalcum in EB puzzle? It falls apart when I hit it three times with my pick.
I see the problem of the issue. How ever I’d say no to targeted healing.
The solution is to have the ram operator with draw to heal up and some one take their place until the first guy is back to full health.
If the position of where the ram is located is being heavily bombarded by AOE that you cannot do the above. Then the smart thing to do is not use a ram.
Thanks for the link. I gave them a piece of my mind with some very ‘strongly disagree’ check marks in the fun department.
One time events cannot be done. Not only does it alienate players from different time zones. But you have every one trying to login the same zone at the same time. Of course there’s going to be problems. Who ever on the Anet team thought this was a good idea clearly wasn’t thinking or has never played an MMO before.
If Anet wants guild wars 2 to do well. No more one time events. Make them 24 hours at least.

Daish isn’t so bad if you get to know him. I think it’s just all an act. Although I’ve never really listened or followed him in WvWvW. I’m usually doing what a roaming thief does best.
Kudos to those who know what the first screen shot is about.
Also current score.

IF Ascended gear will not be made available through any other means but dungeons. I will drop this game so fast the only thing you will see before it dropping the ground is a dustcloud.
There are some exceptions:
– Ascended gear is fully craftable via materials found OUTSIDE of dungeons
– Considering the last one this means you should be able to buy them on TP
– Via some sort of Karma/Badge paymentIf they are going to try and make me run the Fractal thingy, I’m out.
I give you the ascended back pieces:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Vial_of_Condensed_Mists_Essence
It requires a vial of condensed mists essence that is account bound and only obtainable from the chests at the end of fractals.
These aren’t minor upgrades either.
It’s nice to see some unique ideas in play. >:D
This has been done before by SoS months ago though.
Place is seriously hard to get up on. Even with out the enemy attacking you.
GW1 was far from a great game. It had its charm and I enjoyed it. But it was far from great. GW2 is superior to it in almost every way. Yet even GW2 has a long way to go.
Nobody playing WvW has to visit PvE.
Ancient Karka Shell and the new ascended gear says otherwise.
This is indeed an excellent point.
The Lost Shores event has just invalidated the excuse for no action on night-capping in WvW. As quoted above, the excuse was everyone’s time is valuable.
But clearly, for the Lost Shores event, Oceanic player’s time was far less valuable than others’. It was almost impossible for them to be online for this event.
Since the principle was broken for PvE, why not break it for WvW and accommodate, as they did for Lost Shores, the time zones in which the bulk of the players live?
I’d rather say the WvW stance has invalidated one time events.
There’s a difference in a change of setting versus not participating at all.
Leatherbag sea turtle: http://www.orma.com/wp-content/uploads/leatherback-sea-turtle-mouth.jpg
Is that all teeth?! The spikes go all the way down its throat… ouch.
To you, perhaps. I didn’t get to log in at all due to the timeframe. I don’t know how any of the rest of it looked, and it sounds like it was a great event, if a bit tedious at time.
Just for you. I’ll hit you up with a summary video of the event.
Well, now I know how it ended. I would like to know how it started. You got any footage of the rest of the event?
There was really nothing worth posting other than the ending cinematic. It was just people from lion’s arch running in and placing bombs. Then the ancient Karka spawns from a far away. Mindless combat ensures until that point. The last fight is really the only interesting part. Other than Karka veterans playing zerg bowling.
If you missed out on the one time boss fight on the final day of the event. Don’t worry.
Here’s a youtube video of it!
