The Veteran Karkas didn’t drop a single thing, needed to be killed twice (why
????) and had attacks that weren’t showing as visible – no red circles on ground and no conditions on me so why am I losing alot of health per tick?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Retaliation
Also yes. The loot at the lost shores from mobs and the jumping puzzles was very underwhelming.
It was more rewarding (and fun) to run fractals and ignore the lost shore as well as its one time events completely.
Running past Veteran Young Karkas. Not a good idea.
Run and dodge Young Karkas, Veteran Karkas, Champion Karkas. No worries!
Run past one or more Veteran Young Karka and you’re likely to be kissing the floor whilst they have their way with you. Have a stun breaker for knock downs? Great! Enjoy the next one flying towards you instantly.
We’re aware of the disconnection problems in the Fractals dungeons that you’re experiencing. The team is working to fix the issues.
We apologize for the impact to your experience of this content.
You didn’t answer the important question. What about not being to enter the same dungeon your group is in after u dc? Even if u fix the current dc in the dungeon people will still dc. So, will we be able to go back into the same dungeon?
I’m pretty sure that qualifies as a “disconnection problem.” Not saying that I know that they are, but part of the issue with disconnecting is that you cannot get back into your own fractal, which in my opinion qualifies as a disconnection problem. People are going to disconnect regardless, so I don’t think “We’re working on making sure you never ever disconnect” is really a valid problem that they can fix.
I got an error message by using a repair canister half way through a fractal and it closed the game. Needless to say my group wasn’t happy with Anet.
This is not simply a disconnection problem to tend with. This instance there was no fault of my own.
I can’t even get the Pois in the cavern, the area is deader than a ghost town.
My SS says it all ~ people got tired of being one shotted by Karka and left I guess.
I did that event solo no problems…
The chickens are SoS during Oceanic prime time.
It’s the stuff of nightmares I tell you.
(edited by Azure Prower.8701)
You just gotta dodge them, it even says so on the event information screen.
I’m pretty sure lag alone prevents that from happening.
The swamp is near impossible with a PUG that lacks coordination.
The cultists takes hours.
The charr one is 50/50.
Only ones I’ve enjoyed are the dolphin one and the asura jumping puzzle one.
Even though it wasn’t intended. I liked the ability to communicate with the opposing servers.
Aside from emotes and the obvious. How would you even know if you’re fighting real players if they were replaced by bots?
Knowing your enemies and having rivalry is fun. Also simply chatting to them is fun. Just because they’re on a different server fighting you. Doesn’t mean they should be alienated from you.
WvW needs a king of the hill map
That would be the jumping puzzle in EB.
So long as being able to invite an enemy player into a party is allowed I’ll manage without the report thing. That way it requires the consent of both parties for cross server WvW contact.
You can only invite if you know the account name. Which using the report feature no longer gives.
I’ve been on SOS since head start.
I pretty much could care less about being tier one. All I want is WvW to be fun. That’s all that matters.
This isn’t an e-sport. I hope it never becomes one. Because taking things seriously kills the fun out of it all.
But all in all. Looking forward to the fun fights that T2 has given and the ones that T1 will bring.
I know the developers are probably proud of this skill, but it is almost worse than stealth in its cheesiness.
Totally taking away two weapons bars of skills, your heal, utilities and elites for 10 seconds goes far beyond any other sort of crowd control in the game. It cannot be cleared, only dodged or blocked initially. In a WvW environment it can be almost impossible to see it coming.Either make it clearable by stability, condition removal etc., keep the original skill bars, or remove it from the game.
Otherwise, it’s essentially an “I Win” button.
It’s only a iwin button for 1v1 scenario, and if it can be easily cleared with something like condition removal/stun breaker/stability it’s not worthy of being an elite skill. I personally hate this elite, and want it replaced with some kind of AoE elite skill.
I’ve been ’moa’d’. ALL your skills get replaced. You cannot heal. You cannot stun break.
2v2 Mesmers. Mesmers have so many clones and phantasms that you have to concentrate on avoiding and killing before finding the real mesmer that can use stealth and rendering issues to mask his or her cast. You can never tell when you’re about to be moa’d.
I’ll miss my lovely conversations with people on the enemy team whilst doing jump puzzles. It helped a lot to coordinate rushes from players from one enemy server to assist in rushing the players from the other enemy server that were camping as well as out numbering us combined. It really did make things more interesting than the age old ‘red is dead.’ Rather, ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend.’ To mix things up a bit.
Of course, people are always going to abuse it. By harassing others. This is why we can’t have nice things.
(edited by Azure Prower.8701)
The only way to have done this is to have it a twice only event that was 12 hours apart.
There would be options of changing your sleeping pattern around the game. But you can’t change your work, school, life commitments schedule around it.
Yes there is a siege cap.
The only thing you can place down and build when siege is capped is alpha golems.
You can stealth through pretty much the entire puzzle without having to worry about campers! Shameless self promotion:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zo2DAWy2W_4
Also that doesn’t work if you don’t have the glowing back piece from the mad king event to get through the dark room. Even if you do have it. If you come up against a smart camper that knows to spam arrow cart at the beast arena entrance for people in stealth trying to slip by. Your invisible trick is short lived.
(edited by Azure Prower.8701)
By the way, ArenaNet kind of encourages camping the jumping puzzle. Why do you think they put all those nasty traps inside?
A few more arrow carts, trebuchets, ballistas and catapults are only adding to the extra fun.
Don’t mind the traps. But the moment I see siege set up in the beast arena by the enemy team. I simply leave. And that isn’t fun for any one.
I’ve been the camper. No one made it pass me. So I pretty much know what I’m up against and the hopelessness of the situation.

Any one know what the traits and stats set up for it?
I want to kill people easily as this guy can:
(edited by Azure Prower.8701)
Loved playing rogue in WoW and Assassin/Operative in SW:TOR.
Two things I love most in an mmo or in any game. Stealth and speed.
Thief was naturally my first choice.
I wish people would come to see that WvW is not PVP only.
Tyria = PVE
The Mists = PVP
WvW = A mixture of PVE and PVP (aka ‘open world PVP’ as some like to term it)
Taking the PVE element out of WvW would kill WvW. It would make it nothing more than a larger version of sPVP.
My flamethrower auto attack in my gear hits for 2500 total not the crappy 1500 damage this guy was doing.
Probably because that new 80 ranger wasn’t in exotics with it fine tuned for crit. But does your flame thrower have jump shot, a block and a pet to tank with? I don’t think so.
Could always jump on my glass cannon thief main to see how much it crits for though.
Edit: Just came back after testing it with my thief. He does 4k total per flame jet auto-attack. 6k crits with flame blast.
(edited by Azure Prower.8701)
If they carried over secondary professions from guild wars. This is probably what a Ranger/Engineer would play like. Works really well with the pet tanking as I use the flamethrower. Not so much miss miss miss kiting issues.
(edited by Azure Prower.8701)
Why isnt grenades the 1 key.. on autoattack and targeted? Give the class abreak.. Do you SEE what the other classes weapons can do ANET?
Because it would miss all of the time due to grenade travel time, since people are/should be moving (talking WvW here), or are you saying you want the grenades to hit people instantly, autoattacked, targeted, AoE and over range? oO
That would be imbalanced (imho).
It already does it while underwater though? What’s the difference there?
I can see this being really abused in the jumping puzzles, vistas and other hard to reach places. I like the idea of it. But of course some one is going to find a way to turn a good idea into a bad one. This is why we can’t have nice things.
there are ways around it, do a forum search before making a new thread when there has been probably a hundred threads crying about campers already.
infact theres a thread on the first page talking about one out of many ways to get around campers. look with your eyes.
Only works if you have the mad king back piece as a lighting source to get through the dark room. Also lag dictates that the arrow traps you roll through will inevitably hit you any way.
I don’t think my main will ever be replaced, but I’ve made several new characters and got bored of leveling them…
Until I decided NOT to stop and do all hearts, vistas etc and just concentrate on the story. I found this meant I could play my new alt for hours without before bored. Honestly, try it – skip all the distractions.
Problem is if you focus on the story. You end up being under leveled and not able to progress.
I pretty much used it once to see what it did and then never equipped it on my utility slots again.
Many issues in the profession have been around since BWE1. Engineers are among the least played professions, on par with necros. The fact that we don’t complain as much about our deficiencies is likely less about patience and more about lack of confidence that improvements are coming any time soon.
That being said, I like my Engi, which is my main. My dungeon mates are glad to have me because I bring decent support. Will I see amazingly large numbers flash on my screen? No. Will I see an amazingly large number of small numbers flash on my screen? No. But dungeons run smoother with a team-oriented Engineer.
And if you don’t want to go support? Are engineers the monks of guild wars 2?
A played a thief since head start and it is currently my main. I love my thief. Squishy. But does nice burst damage.
Tried ranger. It was okay. But it did the job to get me to 80. Disappointing as they were much better in the first guild wars.
Tried warrior. It was a blast.
Tried guardian. Pretty good.
Tried elementalist. Feels very tedious. Does a little bit of damage, but very very squishy if you don’t do x, y and z all at once. Then again, didn’t enjoy ele in the first guild wars either.
Trying engineer… Feels on the same level as elementalists. Except engineers are a little more tanky than ele, but can’t do decent damage to save their life.

another “useless” video
As some one has mentioned before. Having full orb buffs and beating up on sub-level 80s isn’t impressive.
As for the flame thrower being good if you ‘angle it right’ and such. Given the fact it misses constantly regardless makes it a hazard to have for small group/solo fights. Using it in zergs is also just plain messy.
I’m tempted to go for the rifle build as rifles are less situational and you’re bound to hit your mark unless the enemy dodge rolls. Strafing around an enemy and missing doesn’t seem like much fun. As much as the cool factor the flame thrower has going for it.
I mean me and my friend duo’d engineers in WvW and we came up against a thief and a warrior. We eventually won the fight with two flamethrowers despite all the missing. The thief and warrior could have also ran away at any moment and there would of been nothing we could do to stop them. The whole fight was awkward and didn’t feel right with such sub-par and unreliable damage. I felt the players behind the thief and warrior weren’t also bringing their A game.
(edited by Azure Prower.8701)
It’s mostly common with a warrior’s knockdown, great sword hundred blades + frenzy. They’re always in melee range to take advantage of the quickness stomp.
Flamethrower: Great for scaring the kitten out of people and zergs when they see that for the first time. But when they realize all it does is miss miss miss miss is when you’re in trouble. Only use I’ve found for it is during door defense by standing on the other side and burning those hammering at the door. But with how people have become more experienced in bursting down doors quicker, it situation becomes way less frequent.
Grenades: Perhaps good for exchanging fire during close range siege whether you’re the attacker or defender. But good luck in hitting moving, juking and dodging targets out in the field.
Bombs: Good for… running away?
Turrets: Perhaps useful at chokepoints. But not so useful with their long cooldown when you’re always moving about.
Medkit: Actually really good for survivability out in the field.
Medical Turret: Only useful for defending keeps.
Elixir Gun: I’m not really sure what to make of it yet.
So really. Engineers have the survivability nailed down. They are typically harder to kill than most other professions. But where is the damage? Are we to rely on rifle or pistols for that?
They could always make a steam hammer cannon for the engineer. Shoots out a hammer like it were a golem arm.
Someday people will figure out that a superior ballista > alpha siege golem..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=WvS9FqLlwSs
Not really. The siege golem has to break through the door first and usually by then their use is fulfilled.
I see your 8 golem army and I raise you this epic video.
This has 30 and the doors go down in 2 seconds flat.

Just wanted to add.
If there is an arrow cart placed here by the enemy. You’re not getting pass the beast arena any time soon.
Has entire coverage of the arena and cannot be reached with out passing the beast arena jumps. No matter what any one says to the contrary.
as one of the first to discover and use that spot, i can tell you right now that it can be hit from the ground by atleast an elementalist, depending how low they place it. there is an optimal spot where no one can reach, but there are many other ways around it.
here is one example, escort a mesmer through the dark room with invis, let the mesmer do the arena jumps until you’re just under the arrow cart spot, where the rocks are, then portal your whole team up there, kill arrow cart, then proceed the pull the rest of the campers on the beast trap down and kitten them.
i can think of and have executed many other ways of getting around arena room camp. that is, assuming you’re not ridiculously out numbered. if you are, then they are wasting their own time, and you should go take some keeps.
Had a mesmer try to sneak pass with invisible whilst I was manning the arrow cart. They didn’t make it pass the second jump because of aoe cripple. Also if people camping were smart, they would have 2 or more arrow carts set up at that spot like in the example picture I posted. Meaning you can spam cripple on an area and no one will EVER be able to make the jump.
There is a cap limit on siege in every WvW map for your server. Alpha and Omega golems do not count to that cap.
Just wanted to add.
If there is an arrow cart placed here by the enemy. You’re not getting pass the beast arena any time soon.
Has entire coverage of the arena and cannot be reached with out passing the beast arena jumps. No matter what any one says to the contrary.
The problem occurs when there is too many siege placed on the map from your side. Had this happen on Sea of Sorrows.
We couldn’t get into a well defended tower because of it. So we resorted to alpha golems. Worked like a charm.
Note: reveal does not trigger on stealth end or if you attack during the last 1/2 second of stealth. This is the primary issue.
This is incorrect. Anet fixed this in a patch not too long ago.
Also, AoE does not work. I’ve seen this attempted at least a dozen times without one success.
I’ve had lots of success. Perhaps because I know how to counter my own class. I also don’t stealth by the way.
there is new content and events coming on the 15th, just giving ioj a heads up
I also find it quite ironic that the new content coming up on the 15th is located at Sea of Sorrows.
Me? It reminded me of a hard as kitten time boss in a platform game from a while back. I needed some thing to set the pace for me. Thus as soon as the camera panned to the clock tower. This began playing in the background to motivate me.
Human Thief
Human Ranger
Human Guardian
Human Elementalist
Charr Warrior
Charr Engineer
No speed boosts.
Earned a pair of slippers for all of them in under 40 minutes.
50% of my time playing is spent in jumping puzzles though.
I had no interest in the mad king event. After reading this thread. I took it as a personal challenge to go and see how difficult it was.
40 minutes later I have 6 slippers for my 6 characters. It’s really not that difficult. You guys made it sound scary.
I’d really like to have a visible cooldown timer somewhere in the user interface. Happened more than once that I would go to a puzzle only to find out I completed it 22 or so hours ago, and have to wait. In general I also think 24 hour cooldowns are just annoying, eventually you get to a point after doing them every time that it pushes the respawn time out of normal hours. Cutting chest cooldowns to 22 hours would solve that.
They are fine in terms of rewards, I do wish the borderlands puzzles were a little bit…. dynamic. Maybe every server restart, some rocks should change location, ect. Since you need to do this puzzle 3 times, some variation wouldn’t hurt.
In total agreement with there being a visible timer on the chests.
In the borderlands puzzles it isn’t so bad. But it gets really irritating when you reach the top of the EB jumping puzzle to only find an open chest. The real kicker is. Even if you get there after looting the chest 24 hours ago, if you arrived on the map a minute before the chest reset – it remains open. Meaning you have to rejoin the map and do the puzzle all over again.
not sure if you can do jumpingpuzzles multiple times a day using different toons, im doing them on my ele most of the time tough
edit: however, blueprints are soulbound
You can do all 4 jumping puzzles once:
-24 hours after you looted the chest
-Per character
-Also immediately after a new build for the game is patched
I got like 100 rams, balistas, trebs and arrow carts along with 20 golems just from doing the jumping puzzles. Exceeded 1000 badges of honor.
It adds up very quickly. Though the time spent to get them is equal to the reward.
The problem with trying to recruit Oceanic/Asia players is they have no incentive.
I don’t think they really care about the US prime time being excellent. Most are looking for people to play with within their time zone. Seeing as there is far few Oceanic/Asia players than US/NA ones. They’re are going to flock to the unofficial Oceanic/Asia servers.
In other words. They’re not going to come to you. You have to go to them.
(edited by Azure Prower.8701)
To be honest. I think there should be a dual transfer system.
Once every 30 days for free to satisfy those looking to play with their friends.
Once every 7 days with a 700 gem cost if you wish to transfer before the 30 day limit.
What kind of reward would you want for winning your WvW bracket?

A random exotic armor piece would be nice. You would have to fulfill weekly participation requirements to qualify of course.
