I think you guys are looking at this all wrong. Don’t look at them as “buffs”. Reading the changes to the other classes, nothing was really intended to be class-alteringly important here. These were pretty much all changes to keep the status quo, make a couple skills a little more usable as they are intended now, and pave the way for whatever is coming out next. Hold on people, help is coming our way

I tried being positive for my necro since launch, everytime we get a “buff” it’s insignificant and makes no difference at all, not in PvP, PvE or WvWvW, so sorry for having a negative attitude towards it now, ubt 2 years of positive for kitten all is pretty demoralizing

nicely done but the AP request in the LFG is not right .. why not adding class filter while you’re at it like ‘’ no ranger ’’ ? .

Well, people that say that does not know about spotter and frost spirit i guess, however try being a necromancer, often you join a group and before you know it you’re not in that group anymore at all and they all block you

Hi there, long ago i bought the Cultural tier 1, 2 and 3 for human, Sylvari and Norn, i bought the Tier 1 and 2 Cultural armor for Asura and Charr however i can not pick these options under my wardrobe at all and haven’t been able to since the wardrobe came out
I have the achievements for all these so you can see that i have it.

My question is, is there any chance i can get these on my account through some kind of fix or do i have to use loads and loads of gold to buy all the sets again?

Necromancers sadly are useless in most modes, except large Zergs where you can stand far away and AoE another zerg.

In PvE there is low damage, no team support that’s actually good, awfull fields, awfull blast finishers of which there is so few anyway, crappy minion AI, no survivability.

In PvP, if you die to a necromancer you definitely needs to up your game dying to a necromancer should only happen if you don’t see them as they are extremely squishy and easy to kill they have lich form for 20 second as the only good skill and that can be survived by LOS’ing, stability removal, reflects, projectile defense, stealth, invulnerability, dodges basically CC when stability is removed and so on, if you are killing people as a necro in PvP it’s because people ignore you and that’s the only time a necromancer can be dangerous.

For WvWvW Necro have great AoE damage good “survival” because of the heals from others, Death Shroud being crap vs many and roaming, yeah good luck on a necro.

So all in all Necromancer have 1 area they are awesome at WvWvW Zerg, 1 they are decent at if ignored (I.E bad players) in PvP, for WvWvW roaming and PvE dungeons/fractals it’s literally the worst profession in GW2.

For Open world you can do anything so who cares

New home instance items

So there are new home instance items which have a rare drop chance from a Black Lion chest, this means that my home instance will never get these at all as i don’t buy keys (nor farm them) on a regular basis, all i want is a home instance where i get “all” the things related to it, i’ve worked since the first items were abound to make sure everything you threw at the home instance was mine, now though i can’t get these items mainly because if i do get a key the chances of the new items are slim to none.

Please sell these the proper way from the gemstore or atleast make us do some insane achievements to get it.

Game Updates: Traits

Basically atm, you waste to much time (and power to understand), to get your traits. Basic traits 6×6 = 36. While every single task may be small, it adds up a gigantic time sink. At on top of that, that some require an event to spawn (wich may not spawn for ages), and you create an even more crazy time sink. Then repeat that for 8 profession, And repeat that for optional alts, and you got absolutely a korean grind game. I have relatively low impact by this patch, cause i can play my 10 chars (made before patch). I got now 12 other chars, that I planned to play someday, but is impossible because of the super grind, necessary to get them going.

I wasted all skill points i could find on lvl 80 ele, and guess what, he still only has the mandatory traits, and somehow she still feels weaker then my other ele. It took me 1,5 months, but now i have 60 skill point scrolls, wich should boost, the amount of traits on that Elementalist considerably. But do you even consider this? 1,5 months farming on main (+ all the gold loss), to even make an alt viable without being hurt by the time sink. Now it’s kind of a passive time sink for me, since I can enjoy my main, slowly progress the alt, but still, having to wait that long, is tedious. But more so, I got the luxury of having mains, new players don’t. Take my word for it, someone planning to play 100’s of (fun) hours in guild wars, will not take this grinding, and will leave instantly. A lot of wow players are getting bored it seems these days, it’s time you fix guild wars so it is the same alternative as it was a year ago.

The sad thing is that this is the SECOND expansion that WoW has launched since GW2 came out… WoW has released more content in a single expansion than the entire game of GW2 contains since launch… and now they are adding 100% more…

The sad thing is, that when WoW released its first expansion after 2 years !! Everquest 2
already released its THIRD expansion .. and still more people played that crappy game.

I wonder if there was also so much DOOM in the WoW forums where everybody
wrote that WoW would die if they not finally get an expansion.

Not likely… since WoW added multiple dungeons, multiple raids, new zones, new PvP modes and actual large balance patches in those 2 years. They got an expansions worth of content and then also got an actual expansion.

Just go play WoW then if you are so hungry for blizzard kitten, geez man. if you love something just give them lots of money for no reason at all, well i guess one need to pay to get lubricated first.

Rewards in Rift are pretty streamlined now, you get the same reward (currency) to buy whatever you want in pvp, open world, raids, dungeons, etc.

Rift is crap, engine is bad, pvp is so unbalanced. And only 2 ppl working in trion regarding Rift. RNG everywhere…played it like 1 year and i am done with it. Was waiting for Archeage but RNG cancer from trion followed it there so that game will die soon…too bad for a game with great expectations.

But there are no quality mmorpgs out there, f2p suffer rng p2w dissease, gw2 lacks more stuff to do(b2p) and p2p arent good enough to pay for it (wow, wildstar, eso…)

The F2P problem is more of a grind problem or P2W indeed. Look at your ArcheAge example. If it wasn’t for the LP it would be fine but with them it’s grind grind grind or just pay for it. Now look at GW2, if you want anything it’s grind, grind, grind or pay for it.

B2P has nothing to do with lacks more stuff to do. Look at GW1 for example. No if it would be truly B2P we would have had about 2 expansions by now (because if thats how they make there money that is what they focus on and will release faster) and so there would be plenty to do. Not to forget about all the things that are now in the cash-shop and could then be in the world. That alone would make that there would be much more to do even forgetting about the expansions.

that’s funny, i got my legendary axe with almost no grind what so ever, where is this grind you are doing in Gw2 and why are you grinding when it’s not needed?

Another call on ANets crap. Look at how barren GW2 is after over 2 years, then look at WoW xpac. Compare the content that took Blizz 2 years to develop we are getting in WoD and the content that GW2 currently has (90% was temporary). Tons of new zones, new pvp area’s, new mounts, pets, titles, raids, garrisons, spells, etc etc so much for expansions worth of content ANet… 2 tiny zones does not = an xpac fyi and I’ve never seen a temporary expansion before.

Should i laugh or cry at how stupid you are?, Gw2 keeps getting more active players after 2 years… the wow expansion, you mean the expansion that’s 10 dollars more expensive, less content, loads of spell removing, easy as kitten raids, forced 20 man raids, 1 new zone, awfull PvP balance for 10 years. kittenty story about going back in time, stupid Orc centric lore once again, the only thing that is really new on WoW is that they milk you for more money for an expansion that’s not even worth a patch for.

So the last few days i’ve tried 4-5 different groups to actually get a group that does not insta kick me for being a necromancer.

This probable is because Necromancer is widely useless in PvE i understand that but i can still hold my own and not be a liability, so when are Necromancers going to be actually wanted/viable in PvE?, because for 2 years now we’ve been so kitten it hurts and maining a necro is really not fun when you want to do PvE content like fractals.

If Death Shroud was still working like it should (no overflow damage) then it would be a decent minor trait, but seeing as it’s grandmaster trait and that we do get overflow damage while in Death Shroud, yeah it makes the trait fairly useless.

Unholy Sanctuary should proc assuming you have enough life force.

Actually thinking about it, I kind of like the change to Unholy Sanctuary. I’ve got a build in mind that I would post if the only good build calculator wasn’t currently down. Did you guys know that only gw2skills.net has newer stat combos?

But we won’t have enough life force when we are 1 shotted while in Death Shroud?, if that’s the cause that makes US kinda useless in a Death Shroud build.

I came to the conclusion over a year ago, when they nerfed mist form and the ele traits that they have no clue how to balance the classes. This is the hardest class to play and all we get are tons of nerfs and a few useless buffs.

Moa form: Death Sentence for the targeted
Tornado: useless in 99% of the situation

Oh, but it’s “AoE”. Like that makes a useless skill more useful.

I can do the same!

Fiery Great sword: crazy mobility and good damage.

So my friend that got Gw2 some time ago had trouble playing so he ofc got a new pc, however he forgot his password and character name and now he can’t reset his password as he forgot his character name.

He is on my friend list and i can’t see his character name either only his account name (Keith.6035)

And as he forgot his password he can’t join the forums and ask anything himself, So my question is, can you send him an email about his character name or maybe make it so i can see his character name on my friends list?.

Ready Up! Necromancer Talk

Its been said countless times in the past. Whatever their intended design for necro is it needs to be reconsidered if the class is ever to become respectable in all gametypes. If they never introduce a cleave auto attack to necro then there is no hope for the class in pve. And even with cleave, a lot more needs to be done. Simply because the classes core design philosophies dont fit into the pve gametype.

It seems they want to make mobs more boon dependent in pve. This may help us in pve since we are the kings of boon removel/corruption.

I think these two points sum it up, specifically as far as PvE is concerned.

When they talked about ‘purity of purpose’ they’re talking about the unique strengths of each profession, what each can bring to the table like no other. A role to be filled. Basically answering the very legitimate question, “Why bring a Necromancer?”

One of the major strengths of Necromancers is their boon stripping/corrupting and CC skills. This strength is offset by their lack of ability to generate and share boons with other party members, also their lack of stability to preemptively counter CC. Since right now PvE is virtually devoid of needing boon stripping and Defiant all but negates the need for soft/hard CC’s all those skills/traits become close to useless.

Imagine how many times guardians would be picked for dungeon runs if every AoE from bosses stripped all boons. Taking away the usefulness of boon stripping and CC’s from necros is pretty close. You can’t really be too surprised when necros aren’t the top picks for dungeons. Not their fault, it’s the flawed mechanics of those dungeons.

When Southsun rolled around my Necromancer was really excited to discover that the Retaliation on the karkas was simply wrecking these poor Guardians & Warriors. I had a role, a ‘purity of purpose’ to strip & corrupt the boons as quickly as I could so that the group wouldn’t retaliate themselves to death. It felt good to be needed. I brought something to the table few others could so the synergies of this group combat really shined. The very definition of balance.

The other point I’d like to bring up is for PvP/WvW. As it stands right now Necromancers are not the kings/queens of attrition simply because when multiple enemies hit us the damage is multiplied by that number, since we have no block or invulnerabilities. If a Guardian, Warrior, Mesmer what-have-you is hit by 100 players while blocking/blurred/invulnerable they take 0 damage. If this happens to a Necromancer they are dead.

There’s definitely some reworking that needs to be done for Necromancers so that our ‘purity of purpose’ really is needed and has, um…a purpose.

Mesmer have superior boon removal to necros, auto attack removes boons on sword, clones removes it as well, + null field with the same cooldown as Well of corruption (kinda same cooldown)

Tell me again how good the necro boon removal is?

I like my Frostfang and i love my Death Shroud, if it’s 5% behind on DPS i don’t care, i am doing really well and contributing to my team and having loads of fun, not everything should be about 000000.1% more damage.

(Yes i do higher level fractals in this build with no problem, and no i am not in “tanky” gear don’t worry :P )

3s of stability every 7s traited isnt ‘practical’ enough for you? Flash the DS(possibly giving you fury/retaliation/weakness on enemies) and continue doing whatever you are doing. It’s the best counter to knockdowns ever if you know your timing.
..it’s a whole other thing if you think every profession should have access to the same boons without giving up anything.
I’m also sorry you feel oppressed, must be hard playing a games that makes you feel oppressed.

Just my two cents., necro’s are going to be very strong in EOTM, Foot in the grave, multiple sources of fear and boon removal/corruption.. and most importantly fun. Just today some poor thief killed himself when he downed me and triggered Fear of Death while we were on a ledge.

The fact that Soul Reaping is really bad for WvWvW just went over your head then?, Edge is for when you are queing for WvWvW and in why should we be the only to retrait if in Edge instead of the borderlands?, i don’t see it as a solution to anything and you should not either.

So we have to go 30 Soul reaping for 1 map when WvWvW you should rarely use that? Also well of power, 1 second stability on a long cooldown i do see we have many ways to gain stabilty

And no we can not go elite and then out for heal as our stability will be lost (unlike daggerstorm funnily enough).

These maps are cool and such but so far i’ve been knocked back 2 times far beyond 1200 range on places that aren’t even going down i just “bounce” untill i fall off the edge. Can’t do much against that.

Someone is a flavour of the month player and is mad his OP Dhuumfire is finally getting changed.

Could you imagine the state of the already OP condition necros when the power-builds are nerfed with crit damage change? Yeah, you have nothing to worry about.

But this sounds vaguely familiar of certain Warriors QQing about Unsuspecting Foe.

Changes happen, it’s what MMOs are about.

Dhuumfire is a pestilence and should never have been made, we as a necromancer community disliked it since day 1 it was introduced because we knew it would make necros OP as hell, but instead of accepting Dhuumfire is kittenty they nerf everything else that has not been OP before Dhuumfire which in return hit all the others builds that was decent enough, now they are making Dhuumfire a little more skilled to use but we will still have all the nerfed versions of all the other traits.

TL:DR Most long term necros hated this skill since it’s implementation.

Yo ANET. HELLO!!!! Anybody out there? Is this going to by like obsidian sanctum where you force people who dont pvp to go to a map where other players can attack you while your trying to complete your pve objectives. Or is there going to be a moritorium on player combat while the story is going on?

So when in an area where there is PvP and a jumping puzzle you don’t want people to attack eachother?, Jumping puzzles aren’t PvE exclusive and should not be if 1 person don’t like getting attacked he should not go a place where the objective is to kill the other persons.

Disrespect? You should read my posts, I constantly explain I have no problem with people playing how they want to play – My issue is that Anet releases hardcore content that they specifically say is ‘for hardcore players’. Then they give a system where casuals/hardcores are forced to do it together and it’s so finely tuned that it’s almost impossible to carry the casuals (so tough that it’s been done twice out of the thousand attempts+ so far). Sorry, but in this instance, it is true; for all the previous content, it’s not been an issue because the content is easy enough. Casual players are so scared by elitism, but this isn’t about that; it’s about content that is enjoyable for all players. I like to try hard and I personally don’t want to play with people who are not interested in this; again, I don’t have a problem with them, it’s just ridiculous that in order to accomplish this difficultly tuned content I have to either carry it enough or force these more casual players by pleading with them to respec/get on TS/learn the strats/etc. – There is no fun in this method. Dragging people day after day through content is not anyone’s definition of fun.

Funny you slack of casuals, i’m casual player and i do far far far better than a lot of these hardcore/elitist players when comparing skill levels.

The cancer of games is usually the Elitist people (not hardcore not casuals) but those elitist people that think they are the only thing that’s good for the game, you don’t have to drag any one through anything you can actually make so you have little to no one in your overflow/server as some one already have shown how.

Casuals aren’t scared of elitism they just despise it since it has no bearings at all in a game like this.

When i read the replies from WilliamDaBloody.2591 and JoxerNL.3752, I’m getting a little upset already.
You two guys give me the impression like many others. Let the others do the work.
And to disguise your own incapability of putting in a little effort you call others elitist.

Have been many hours in Que to fight the Worm in at least a little organized group of people. And also there I found afk’s , most without any buff-food/oil/crystals and if they did have buffs it was Magic find and more Gold for kills !!!
Please give me the opportunity to raid with People who actually care and putt in some effort. I’m tired of all the parasites who just want to play as they want with no option to help their Team, or in other words just wait for others to do their job.
I gladly take the opportunity to play with the so called “elitist” only if i had a chance and let the wanabes not even get close to get an achievement.

PS. Being a noob is no problem, but acting smug against people who try hard is.

Exactly this.When i do a boss which is as a raid difficulty i want to have full control over my group.I don’t mind to take new people in the guild run.But slackers or people who play how they want are not welcomed.

Here is what i don’t want to have in the group:

  1. Afking people.
  2. Missing food buffs or bringing the wrong ones like MF/GF
  3. Not bringing items to increase dps

Here is what i want:

  • Cookie cutter build
  • Specific gear
  • Doing exactly what the leaders say

sounds like you want the Wow/rift/swtor experience then, this has no point in Guild wars at all, those 3 things makes for a kittenty (though 3 can be good yeah) Stop trying to force annoying things on the game that not even arenanet wants, it’s annoying.

no. i strongly disagree.
the different health values are good, and working as intended.
if anything, they serve as a difficulty check for the professions.

easy mode – High (Warrior, Necromancer) – 18.372 HP
normal mode – Medium (Ranger, Engineer, Mesmer) – 15.082 HP
hard mode – Low (Thief, Guardian, Elementalist) – 10.805 HP

i firmly believe that the base health values are a core game play mechanic and should not be tampered with, ever.

You need to switch Guardians to Easy mode and Necromancer to Hard mode (not talking condition necro cause there are more specs than that). Necromancer has literally no defensive options after the nerf Death Shroud got a while back while guardians have a ton of “save me” options throughout an entire fight. Defense abilities —→ health.

You all know how to solve this problem.

You have no rights when it comes to this game except the right to play the game as it currently is and the right to come on these forums and voice your opinion. They have reserved the right to make any change to the game they want, regardless of how you feel. They have the right to completely and totally ignore everything you say, and in fact could choose to spite you and do the exact opposite of everything you say.

It may be good policy for them to try to make us happy, but when it comes down to it, you really don’t have any rights, you signed them away before starting up the game the first time.

YES WE DO! And saying otherwise is a statement of pure ignorance of the law! What we have going on is false advertisement. Ignoring the clear problems with promises and execution of our profession there still is the issue of the promise that the game as a whole is a grind. Although they paragon this idea that it isn’t. This is false advertisement, and their failure to address this is a problem. This is one example. We have seen other examples of this in other games where the game didn’t meet the promises the company has made. Mass Effect is a perfect example of this. If it was just something I didn’t like about the profession, like dhuumfire, this wouldn’t be quite the problem it is. But it isn’t just that, its arena net actively deceiving us and breaking promises.

It’s funny you keep mentioning grind as something, i have grinded for 1 item only (legendary axe for my necro), rest of the time i’ve just enjoyed the game how i like and i have ascended weapons, full ascended trinkets and 1 piece of ascended armor, only the ascended focus is something i crafted and i already had the mats for it when hitting 500 artificer, you can grind if you want to sure but you do not HAVE to, before ascended i did fine in rares until i crafted exotics i wanted no grind just playing how i wanted to play.

So stop saying they are forcing grind or that they “promised” NO GRIND, it’s wrong, they said if you wanted something quicker you would have to grind for it, the rest comes naturally as you play.

Agreed, i don’t know why people keep using healing power or why Arenanet are giving it out so much when it is so bad.

As to cross-profession comparisons, is there really any reason why an elementalist (top tier DPS) deals 50% more DPS than a warrior (tier 4 DPS)? Given that all classes have unique utility options that justifies taking them even if they don’t actually hit any harder (i.e. warrior has banners, ranger has spirits, etc.) such huge DPS disparities aren’t really warranted nor necessary. An elementalist doesn’t need to deal 50% damage than average to be viable; if it dealt ordinary damage, it’d still be plenty good. Look at LH ele, it stacks might and fury to the max and it STILL deals more damage than average. Why.

You complain that warrior in ideal situation deals less damage than ele? Do you now know why noone takes you seriously?

Math shows that 2 ele specs deal more damage than warriors, warriors have Great burst but not particularly good DPS.

maybe because the ele is 1. more difficult to play and 2. extremely squishy compared to an easy mode 19k hp warrior?

You do know eles best staff damage comes from 2(3) skills only right?, talk about easy play here.

I like this a lot and it’s a good step but, are you going to reduce some of the 2handers damage in order to balance this or is the damage going to stay the same?, just curious.

All changes good and reasonable.
Dhuumfire getting more on powermancer side so condi necros cant abuse it so much, so every thing going as planned from start.
The fact that basicly every single change from livestream was reasonable and improvement to game only show how much anet cares about their game instead of random noob whining on forums.
Theres still necros who think that grandmaster power tree trait is meant for condi builds so its only normal that theres lots of confusion on forums where most of people have no idea what they are playing.

I just wish they wouldn’t do everything because of PvP in the balancing, it’s annoying to get less and less usefull in PvE because of it, however i do know this is not all that’s coming and i am still hoping for something good for my profession i am still cautiosly optimistic about it.

Necromancer lack of useful teamsupport.

- Fury
- Might
- unique dps buffs
- vulstacking is ok but not as smooth as warr/engineer can do it

then Necros have low aoe dmg, nearly no cleave. High CD on blinds (guards can do it much better by dealing more dps especialy aoe/cleave).

So necro dps (20/25/0/0/25/ full zerk D/F + D/Wh is a little bit then warriors (fullbuffed) but since nercos do not bring buffs themselves it´s usually better to pick another class.

Thief>more dps an stacking a bit vul too (and they have cleavedmg)

Engineer>strong healing/condition remove (without losing much dps), awesome at stacking vul and still good dps, nice for clearing up trash and so on

Ele>nearly OP dps, best might/fury stacking ingame

Warrior>solid dps, probaly lower then necros but warrios bring mith/vul/banners if this buffs are not maxed out, a warrior will increase party dps more then a necro can do it. (even if dealing sligthly less personal dps)
And they have cleave dmg too.

Ranger>a bit less dps then warriors (cause the cat can/will die sometimes or they can´t use the sword always) but spotter (7% critchance) and 7,5% raw dmg (frostspirit) are nice.
And they can buff might/fury/vul too, they have blast finishers, a bit of reflection and a waterfield+condition remove if needed.

Guard>usually 1 in each gruop, since they do second/third best dps ingame and have alot of nice and unique support

Mesmer>if u have a guard, u usually don´t need a mesmer (personal dps is aweful in PvE). But alot of people still think mesmer is a must have for timewarp

Necro>the last class u pick up if u´re min/maxing (probably they can switch the place with mesmers)

So necromancers need support (might/fury) and cleave/aoe dmg for trashfights.
Sidenote: If u don´t want to do time records. A necromancer is good enough for “normal” speedruns. CoE P3 in 13min and so on.

Most warr/guard searchign pugs don´t have much clue about the game and shouldn´t kick other classes. I laugh always if i see warriors/guards playing only greatsword.
But i have to say, i know why they do it. 98% of all engineers/rangers/necromancers are just horribel.

Wow 98% are bad?, i’ve seen more bad guardian/warriors than i’ve seen those 3 professions because you know “healing shouts” and camping longbow and whatnot, there is ofcourse bad players of all professions however saying 98% is bad is stretching a little too much.
