Any updates to Axe Necromancers in PvE?, we’re not good for anything atm, Dagger power builds and Scepter Condi builds blow Axe necros far away, I want to use my Legendary axe on necro for something in PvE/dungeons but it’s just so hard to really play with, atleast give axe 3 a blast finisher and skill number 1 remove Vulnerability and give axe a cleave instead, not many cares about Vulnerability anyway this way you will also give Cleave to necromancers which we need.
Lovely build, i use it a lot now and it’s really really good!
I just want sacrifice skills back really, something that will give us stability instead of Foot in the Grave.
With few small preparations at start you can make sure you have a decent group: put an AP restriction, ask ppl for their overall build orientation and gear, kick those who don’t fit the profile (make sure you got 1-2 soldiers who are sturdy enough, few condition removals and max 1 condition build..oh and NO “BEARBOWS” :P ).
Good pugs start with a good party leader (unfortunately sometime that means you have to be mean, and set some rules that exclude certain players).
That is the most stupid thing i ever heard, AP restriction?, like achievement points says anything about what skill people have.
So far i’ve done 10+ PUG’s with different people with different professions, if you explain stuff just slightly it’s not hard, being an “azzhole” as you say is never the way to go, excluding is never the answer either, again i’ve done this with people in rare/exotics who weren’t the best players but as long as they got an explanation they were fine.
So to summarize, don’t kittening ever exclude people just because you feel superior, when you probably are one of those that thinks guardians are “oh so needed for everything”.
Also, soldiers gear is bad, anything with 2 defensive stats on it is bad in dungeons, 2 offensive and 1 defensive will always be superior, soldiers gear, clerics gear all those are so freaking bad to have in dungeons.

My axe power necro aren’t getting buffs at all.
On condition necro (if one plays that in PvP) you get beaten easily by stuns/knockdown/knockbacks/dazes and so on, CC’ing a necro will kill him fast and as far as i know elementalist professions have a few ways to do that.
Anyway, so because you have trouble against a few professions, yet walk over other like it’s nothing, should elementalists not be nerfed then as some professions have a hard time killing elementalists?. No?, then you can’t call for a nerf or buff.
I don’t agree with the most of people claiming the GS as a necromancer weapon, it’s another design flaw. (Necromancer isn’t a kittening Death Knight, exorcize your mind corrupted by WoW).
At least it shouldn’t be used for meleeing, but as a caster weapon, a catalyst.I agree with the torch (just with the prerequisite of having a spectral/evil look) and somehow with a one-handed sword having ranged spells, so not used for melee attacks.
I also totally agree with the idea of making a weapon working together with the Minion thematic, both to summon or to support them (healing them, boosting their damage [consider the old “Order spells”Order of Apostasy, Pain, Undeath, Vampire from GW1], et similia).
Do not forget we also need weapons working together with Wells, Marks and Death Shroud. We need more Synergy.PS: As ronpierce promoted on another thread, i agree with the idea of having “bundles” like those from the Engineer (or Ritualist in Gw1) which takes in consideration the theme of the flesh mutation or demonic flesh, maybe approaching to the Vampiric or Corruptor themes..
Torch is even more wrong on a necro than Greatsword… however why all professions can’t just use all weapons is beyond me, it worked in GW1 and made build diversity quite big (except for elite missions).
Don’t give us bundles, we’re not a Ritualist, we’re not even close to a ritualist (or Engineer) bundles are kinda weird and they would need to rework loads of traits to fit it in.
I want every weapon on every profession but personally i want to see hammer on my necromancer, i love hammers but i dislike guardians and warriors and lightning Hammer on eles don’t count, nah a hammer could be quite interesting then we would also have some Melee Cleave going.
Well i played Mesmer for 7 years in Guild Wars 1 so ofcourse i started playing him for quite a bit in Guild Wars 2 there was just this little tiny thing though, Mesmers do not feel like mesmers the slightest so i had to choose another main profession after 300 + hours on Mesmer so i decided to try out Necromancers and despite it’s many flaws i really like it and i am at almost 900 hours played on him, They don’t feel at all like the Necromancers for gw1 though but i think i know why Mesmer/Necromancer doesn’t feel like their GW1 counterpart and that is because we got conditions and not Hexes to play around with. Hexes was way more fun than conditions so might be it.
But i just love playing my necromancer, got him a legendary axe and som cool new skins, still tweaking my build all the time, so yeah i kinda love him because he is the “redhead stepchild” of dungeons.
All depends on the scaling of healing power really, personally i think they should remove healing power but some people like it so it’s fine, but for now the scaling is just awfull so i would wait and see how they are gonna make the scaling of healing power actually be worth it
Amusing trend I noticed as I pick up more and more Dire pieces (just got Asc Dire Scepter ps:regret this action), I’m becoming an unshakable aggro magnet
Why do you regret it? I too am getting dire pieces. I only need weapons and trinkets now, i finally got full dire with travelers for WvW roaming.
In PvE more toughness = more aggro.
So great for WvW where it is players, bad for PvE where everything and their brother will attack you until you die.
No Toughness does not equal more aggro, So many times i’ve seen people say this, yet when i play my 1700 toughness necromancer and my mate plays his engineer with like 1200 toughness he always always gets the aggro, same when he playes his ranger which has only the base stat of 916 toughness, There are a ton of factors in “aggro” and toughness is only a small bit of it.
Well Necromancers can be really good heal/support still even when you misunderstood it and if you want to play with dagger it’s even better, There is quite a few “heals” you can do party wide, Life Transfer can be traited for heals, You can even trait it for lower cooldown, Well of Blood can heal quite a bit, Everytime you leave death shroud you heal allies around you is also a healing trait, so don’t be discouraged at all necromancers can really heal quite well when you make an original build out of it you can also take the well traits too for extra protection and shorter cooldowns for even more support/heal,
So my advice just keep at it really.
Remove salvage confirmation from masterworks?

hahaha, you guys really think anet will willfully implement a quality of life change like this
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1ljo6o/are_you_sure_you_want_to_salvage_this_green_item/
Yes they will and have done many many times.
i feel….uneasy….this is probably the worst reveal ive ever experienced…..im lost for words….their big reveal is revamped old stuff? and they are labelling it as new content reveal? …. i just….wow…
Wheres raids? wheres new pvp modes? wheres gvg? wheres anything that the playerbase ACTUALLY wants….anet please im begging you….dont do your big reveal at PAX as 1 revamped old boss….thats pathetic.
We don’t want no kittening raids, i agree on GvG though.
Mod jon_peters: you have to actively react to all the passive things going on
Mod jon_peters: so its still very reactionary and there is still a LOT of skill in spirit ranger
Hahaha, spirit rangers are easy to kill and counter unless ofcourse you are really really really stupid, good played spirit rangers do give problems and bad ones are so easily killed so yeah skill is still important for this even though you for some reason don’t think it is, only thing not requiring skill in PvP is bunker guardians.
So you did 1 year of Living Story?, i don’t see how as it wasn’t in the game from the beginning, Living Story can be annoying for some i can see that but personally i like it a lot then i have lots and lots and lots of thing to do all the time instead of just doing nothing.
They said there would be one after PAX, which is this weekend so it should be on the 3rd of september, BUT it probably will not be though, sadly for us playing necromancers in PvE and other professions/specs/areas of the game.
casual players always make this mistake.
ascended is for fractals. thats why agony infusions was the FIRST infusions to be added.
we need ascended gear to do higher lvl fractals.
they just made new non agony resistance based infusions for the ppl who complained us skilled players had shiny things and they dont have shiny things.
same thing happend with liadri
.
so TLDR
ascended for fractal runners for agony resistance
Skilled players and fractals?, good one i must say haha, Liadri was kittenly because of bias towards certain professions, i did her on mesmer after 4 tries, had to try 50+ on necromancer, somehow i am MORE skilled with a mesmer in rare/exotics than necro in ecotic/ascended?
Ascended gear is only here because some idiot at arenanet thought it would be cool with a gear grind/gear treadmill to please all the criers that have to be handheld all the way through the game and have to be told what to do at “endgame” also.
Ascended gear is not only for fractals, it’s for every one that actually wants to be usefull in most areas of the game, if you don’t have ascended in WvWvW you will lose to the guy who have, balance right there, in PvE/dungeons, yeah Rares are enough really, even greens, but the dungeons just become so easy and faceroll in Exotic/ascended that people are gonna want to have that.
And again, high level fractals isn’t even hard as a necromancer atleast, i did 24+ with 15 AR for a while not dying to Agony, so yeah it’s not about skill, it’s about gear and gear only, which sucks as that’s just what WoW, Rift, SWTOR and so on is about, gear gear gear gear gear, get some better gear to do some more stuff, gear gear gear.
You mean the GvG that wasn’t there from the getgo in guild wars 1, is that what defined guild wars 1?, an area of the game not even in the release?.
Though the PvP defined guild wars 1 not “just” GvG, though PvE did get better when Factions came about but PvP was always the more fun of the 2 in Guild wars 1.
Okay, so i REALLY hope it’s either Dervish, some other profession and/or Tengu, or that is the new weapon thing they have talked about.
It’s quite obvious isn’t it, they have a tank (so a guardian or warrior) and need a healer since they have 3 DPS.
Atleast it seems like that, which is stupid as kitten but oh well.
My warrior has a win ration of problably 80/20 where the 80 is wins for me, and the ones i lose is often because i get picked off when on low health, the weakness for necros in general is CC, knockdown, interrupts, daze, condtion removal and stabilty, see how many counters there are?.
Ok, so what i do with my pets, and this is a HUGE secret that only very few know, i SWAP my pets between fights!, so let’s say the big bad boss has AoE at his feet, i will use a ranged pet, if it’s random then i have easy access to protections through traits and pets, the uniqueness is you can CHOOSE the pet for the encounter! I know it’s a shock to most people that just use 1 pet, never swaps it, like people that never swap utilty skills either, it’s a secret though so do not tell any one!
i don’t understand this… Spirit rangers are hardly any problem on my warrior neither is necromancers generally, if they are more skilled i lose but same skill i win 70% of the times.
Also stop asking for nerfs for professions it ruins PvE/WvWvW builds and professions because some one is so bad at PvP they ask for nerf instead of modifying his build to actually kill those guys.
I have most of the Keg brawl achievements and i live in my own apartment alone…. Just get some people to help you get the different achievements and it doesn’t take too long.
Now to your question, if they remove Keg Brawl as a permanent feature then i am gonna be a bit sad because i really really liked doing it whenever i wanted so i don’t hope they are removing it from Hoelbreak but they probably are.
I totally agree with you here!
Here’s the way I see it. As people are so fond of pointing out, the forum folks are the minority of players. This game is focused on casuals. A lot of casual people will not read forums, or do any research, and they will only go by what they see in the game. Most casuals do not buy keys, but all use waypoints. See where I’m going here?
agree.
In addition there are a lot of rude defenders of GW1, who always disrespect GW2. And they are voting for Evon.
Thats another reason to vote for kiel. To remind those guys tha they are not the majority and their complaints shouldn´t be taken into so much consideration by Anet.
Gw1 defenders are plenty, rude are not so many but you chose to only see the rude ones?, fair enough your choice.
Gw2 was basically made because GW1 was so popular, have that in mind.
And voting against us because we’re some from gw1 that actually likes some old lore about the gods makes sense?, to me it doesn’t.
There are no complaints at all though we just know what arenanet wanted to do so they made Ellen Kiel the sure winner here, it’s not complaining it’s a fact really.
Sadly casuals who don’t give a kitten about the game is the majority which is why they chose Ellen Kiel + Thaumanova reactor because then they can just do all the asura copy paste and be done with it.
What i don’t like is the fact that there is 2 ways to win, killing last one a live or staying alive for longer, now it’s none of those that is the problem but more the community that is like “noob camper, stop hiding” and so on, also the ghosts are not at all a good idea either, if they had made it like it was in the Beta where we played Hunger Royale, that was fun and in a cool map, Southsun cove is a really annoying map, to me atleast, i wish it was in a smaller map or even a new map like the aspec game is.
I have done these pre patch and post patch, both solo and in groups, yeah thay are freaking diffucult but something in this game has to be way to many things are faceroll so now that we finally get something where you need some skills to actually manage an achivement that you don’t need anyway, then we get people that complain about it?
And before you say something about professions that are easier to do it on, i did it with Ranger, Thief Mesmer and necromancer, most of it on necromancer, after the Death Shroud “fix” so it’s doable, also one tier 4 we did with 4 medium and 1 light (necro in light was me) we had 1 thief 2 engy and 1 ranger, so you don’t even need heavies for it.
Just up your skills a little and you should do quite well in the Trials.
Totally happy with new patch, not sure why some people are raging hard.
DS damage reduce – finally.
DS damage into health – finally (and yes, I play necro and he is my main, but it was just stupid and I feel it is completely fair)Mark radius buff = awesome
GM = never really played it, thought its just for blind people that cannot aim their marks well. (except wvw where aoe aegis bothered some)
spectral armor = omg! no insta DS fill! quit necro! (srsly? still recharges 50% = more than fair)
Terror – humm
w/e, condimancer with fearlock was stuff in pvp, probably deserved nerf.
Ghastly Claws buff – I can live with that
Where is our defense now though with the nerf on Death Shroud?,
Torment?
Rework of Jug?!
Rush/Bull?!?
Healing Buffs?!?!?!
Apparently I’ve been sucked into parallel dimension where ANet actually <3’s warriors!
We care about all professions. =)
I thought you did untill this patch.
Oh let’s be honest: Half of you wouldn’t have rolled a necro if it wasn’t for the buffs back then. You know, those condi-fearmancer builds the cool guys have been running with.
Not that it matters to me.
Hint: D/D Necro Power builds for the win!
Well, i’ve been playing necromancer since the first betas was out and i have always just used my own builds as i find them more viable than some random build some dude made, but i agree that i have seen many necros pop out recently which makes me a little annoyed, because now they will just go to the next OP profession.
Guardian, but they won’t touch their beloved monk healer, sorry guardian as too many plays it.
scepter eles and Sword/dagger rangers.
Are you people really underestimating the utility of jumping off really high cliffs?
As a thief I would kill to be able to jump from the top of a cliff to escape. At least you still got your spectral walk to do that…
Besides, are you really whining about your survivability nerfs? I mean you were almost tankier than a guardian…I don’t think that was meant to happen. So I would these changes will be good to equalize the OP class (necro) back to fair levels.
Yeah, cause we have loads of stability, protection, vigor and invulnerabilities already so we’re oh so strong! DS is the only defensive tool we have at all or protection on long cooldowns.
I don’t even know what to say to you people.
Those of you saying these nerfs weren’t precedented are stupid.
This has been a month coming and a lot people don’t think this is enough.
We shall see, but those of you complaining that “omg necros are terrible look at these nerfs we were finally awesome QQQQQQQ”
Only mesmers taking signet of domination were interrupt mesmers. Bunker guards were not buffed other than symbols, which is an uncommon dps build.
Seriously. Get a grip.
Gj ANet
the impact on PvE is rather extreme though, buffing everything on guardian so people think it’s even MORE needed for everything now, and nerfing the necromancer which is a rare profession and not many think they are usefull in PvE already, now though, guardians gets kittenloads of buffs and necros gets the shaft.
They should just seperate the PvP from PvE skills or just kittening make the guardian into a monk so we have a healer again so people need 1 of those like in gw1.
And no, i do not like healers, i hate healing power in this game as people think it’s oh so godly when in it is not.
What about those of us doing PvE then?, we’re suffering because some of you can’t handle a necromancer, i play PvP on a warrior and beat necros most of the time with not much hassle really, Necros aren’t OP at all as i have ahd no trouble with them at all, not even on my rarely played pvp professsions.
This is the biggest nerf to Death shroud because a few whiney PvP’ers have no skill, then the PvE community has to suffer, that’s not at all good especially not when guardians gets buffed at the same time.
Don’t worry all, they just want guardians to have even more buffs as people tend to think they are needed for everything already, and we all know necromancer is taken in PvE all the time and is very popular already so nerfing DS was a really really good idea…
This is really the crappiest change to DS i have seen since launch, and buffing an already strong profession to crazy powers, yeah that makes sense, warrior, mesmer and guardians need nerfs not buffs. (haven’t read mesmer and warrior patches so don’t know if they got either).
The did WHAT ????…
Today i wanted to release a video expressing my faith in this company, with the recent changes to the game (not balance wise), faith for the future…
That’s gone…
Yeah i feel you man, i’ve been playing necromancer since release almost, and liked it alot, then they take away the one skill that is actually worth using against anything both in PvE and PvP.
This must be the time to do as in Gw1 and have seperate PvP and PvE skills.
Guess they want people to play guardians and not necromancers.
look at the guardian buffs, this is it for me though i won’t ever main necro with that Death Shroud change
Ah okay, thank you for that!
So are you doing anything against this?,
I had just done all my world bosses for the day and wanted to farm some Vial of powerfull blood in Southsun when a guy and his guild reports me for botting, i have been there for only like 5 minutes, i even replied to them and all.
I got screenshots also for it if it’s needed.
So what are you gonna do about false reporting?, I would never ever bot in a game, and i only report bots when i see them in the same place 3 days in a row doing the same exact pattern over and over again.
Even is the perfect candidate for this, explained already by many others than me, Ellen Kiel is awfull boring and as a long time Guild wars 1 player, Fall of Abaddon just sounds perfect!
Photoshopped
you can tell by the pixels
It is not, i have had this happen to me several times now, it’s a bug though, when i leave DS, Lich form and such, i sometimes get a replica of myself too.
Azzer u might want to edit your post… Change Either Feast (mesmer heal) to Consume Conditions.
What amulet do u use with that build Hagrid?
Seems interesting…
Although i have no idea how u play… Do u spec for direct dmg through dagger? Or do u use staff mainly and swap to dagger for the immobilize etc avoiding to go melee?
done, i for some reason always mix those 2.
I will be ordering this on the 29th, loved the first 2 books also so i hope this is just as good or even better.
Every weapon and every profession can be played and used in dungeons, those very few who refuses a profession are not the good players, but the really kittenty ones, i would take a thief that could play his strengths over a guardian and warrior, guardian and warriors are way to overrated for some reason.
So go with what you like/prefer if you do that you will be doing 10 times as good as any one looking up a build on the internet as finding a build online really does not make you a good player at all, it makes you kitten for not being able to know what you like/prefer, my warrior is axe/axe and hammer, the hammer is great for removing 2 defiant really quick + my utility skill, so i can earthshake the boss for 2 seconds and there’s time to really res/regroup whatever people need.
Also, rangers are probably one of the stronger professions if you actually have just a slight bit of skill at all, bad rangers is plentiful because they think it’s an easy profession but it actually do take some skill to use.
Guardians are annoying on any team you have mostly, for some reason i see 90% of the use wall or reflection on bosses with no ranged attack at all, and they do so little damage and die all the time, now a good guardian is really hard to come by but there are a few, warrior i have one myself, and axe/axe is pretty kittening sweet to play, really fun allround, however what i play most is necomrancer and they are not at all bad they are actually insanely good.
And please stop the “area i play the most gets less focus than that other area i don’t play so much” ofc there is some difference on it, not everything takes 2 minutes to balance.
I am an axe + focus/Deathshroud build using spectral wall and spectral walk as my key utilities with lich form, so atm i am 30/0/10/0/30 with the axe grandmaster trait and the focus cooldown trait, the last trait i switch between retaliation in DS or chill at 25%,
On Death Magic it’s also depending on what dungeon i am doing and with who i am doing it, need more vulnerability i take Death Shiver, many conditions i take Shrouded removal, Staff mastery if team needs support for many condition (number 4 on staff, + the chill on 3 is awesome). At the harder bosses i use Dark armor if any of the other 3 is not needed.
Death Shroud is easy, i take Vital Persistence always with Unyielding Blast, for the last trait i go with Spectral Mastery, Near to Death or Foot in the Grave, Foot in the grave is mainly for stuff that knocks me down, and near to death is the one i use the least, so Spectral mastery -> Foot in the Grave -> Near to death for last trait.
My playstyle is mainly, stack some vuln with axe 1, focus 4 and Spectral Wall, Chill with Focus 5 and Spectral Grasp (if i have it on) then axe 2 for a good burst, DS 1 for 4-5 shots, then DS2, out of DS and do it again.
for Aoe mobs i just stay in Staff and use DS4 + Well of suffering (replaces Spectral Grasp for AoE bosses and trash). Heal is always consume condition, bone minion i have never even used and Well of Blood is used only when i need to keep a few NPC’s alive in open world events.
Edit: changed heal to necro heal instead of the mesmer heal.
(edited by Azzer.8137)
Mesmer can work fine withouth IC…. it’s an awesome trait and i really should be a grandmanster trait instead of the diversion one, that is how good it is, if you can’t make a build withouth IC this probably means you haven’t thought outside the box yet.
Started out as a mesmer but have since been playing my necro almost exclusively, i played an interrupter mesmer in gw1 and wanted to in gw2 also, and with the “maybe” to come traits i might even go back to mesmer again as i love interrupting.
but for now necromancer with atleast 2 spectral skills, spectral walk and spectral wall, is mny prefered setup.
No kittening way, ascended items are kittening stupid and should never have been implemented, putting in a gear grind in a game that should not be about gear grinds is kittening stupid.
Different builds.
Let me repeat that.
Different builds.
Different builds.
The thing that everyone complaining always forgets about.
Mesmers and Thieves aren’t inherently better duelist classes. They do have, however, better duelist builds. There’s nothing that’s implying that Mesmers and Thieves will get Torment for their strongest builds – if anything, it’ll just open up new possibilities for condition builds, which Mesmers and Thieves are weak at. Also, both Mesmers and Thieves lack build diversity, and are pretty much stuck on one or two builds, so new food for conditions makes sense.
You don’t know how it will be implemented.
Let me repeat that.
You don’t know how it will be implemented.
You don’t know how it will be implemented!
I will say this again. Given Anet past history on “balance” everyone who doesn’t play a thief or mesmer has every right to be concerned about this.
yeah, cause mesmers and thiefs are soooooooo scary to my necromancer.. a little hint, they are not at all, those 2 professions aren’t “OP” or anything, it’s just bad people being bad, yeah i lose probably 60% of my fights against them, but i still 40% of the time, and losing is mainly because they outplay me.
Look at gw1 and balance and you’ll see they have 1 of the most balanced games ever for PvP.
For example: what about military people who are deployed, or at sea, and can’t play for a few months? Are they just left out forever on the chance at these achievements?
Sometimes they will miss whole bits of content! And content > achievements. That is part of the Living World experience. Experience it now because a lot of it will not last. That bit is not going to change because it is core to the live experience that ArenaNet wants to bring.
Honestly though this appears very sour grapes. If the achievement was so darn important, why didn’t you spend the 5 minutes to get it? What was more important to Chuo then? Are achievements more important to Chuo now, or just because you can’t get them?
Ravious bats .500 – P1:
; P2:
It’s not sour grapes at all – Chuo has a valid question. And here is the answer:
As KTR said, this is how Anet is building Tyria – it’s innovative, interesting and fun. Also, it is and will be frustrating for all of us. I understand that having a 100% completed achievement list is now ruined by having that hole that can never be filled.
The answer to your question is that you should continue because ALL of us have or will have holes in our achievement logs. There will be no way around it for almost all of us. The only one who will be able to always be online at the right time, in-game and properly prepared to grab every achievement that will ever be offered by GW2 will be the one who has no life or is incredibly lucky.
So, the challenge for all of us is to have the least holes in our achievement logs. IMHO no one will be able to have absolutely every achievement that will ever be available for ever.
So relax… but not too much, because you CAN get most of the achievements and possibly more than anyone else!
Having no life because you manage your time correctly regarding achievements in a game?, what about people that stay at home most of the day because they are sick but still get out once in a while and meet with friends?, they have no life either?, that insult is just awfully bad just because some one has more achievements/played time than you.

.
w/e, condimancer with fearlock was stuff in pvp, probably deserved nerf.
