Anything will be better than Reaper so i’ll say that this is awesome.
Sometimes you just gotta realise, not every weapon has to be a meta choice for pvp. It’s a casual pve weapon and will probably stay that way forever.
And yet in PvE it’s pure kitten as well, not even casual just pure awfull.
Thank you so much, had to buy the chest of sharks on the right crafter!
The underwater weapon i am trying to do i not have on any of my crafting, they are all at 450+ but when i learned the recipe on my Revenant i did not get the recipe on my other crafters at all, so i’m stuck here and can’t get past even Tier 1 as there is no way to make the Experimental spear head og Haft at all.
We’ve not heard anything yet about it, but there is quite a few of us who haven’t received the recipe(s) for the tier 1, i sadly also used another 5 gold to see if i could relearn it, but nothing happened.
I do hope we get some info as well
I have the same problem, i done everything for Tier 1, but there is nowhere i can make the spear (underwater) at all, i’ve looked on all my crafting profession and the recipe in Tier 1 said i already learned it, but it’s nowhere to be found.
So go ahead and report as a bug.
I did glider mastery and working on level 2 mastery for gliding, but because of that the story “Establishing a Foothold” won’t start or work at all as it just says “Learn basic Glider Mastery before you can continue”
Any fixes for this? i really want to continue the story
Establingshing a Foothold Personal Story don’t work if you are on your second level of gliding mastery, this mean i can’t do the story at all because i got level 2 mastery, it’s blocking everything.
Also, i did not get the Abaddons Cowl ascended item from the Prologue and i can’t restart the prologue.
Sylvari, as that’s the race i’ve loved most since release.
A little bit of a Drama Queen aren’t we dear OP ??
These changes are insanely welcome by 99% of the fanbase.
Get used to it.
People will gladly play Druid or Tank
So 99% of people are happy we get an even more strict meta? Seems weird.
Also, a healing mantra mesmer can spam an almost 3000 heal every 3-4 second with no healing gear
Now the lack of beta testing time makes sense. It was dead before it was ever born. I could not be more disappointed.
gosh i have waited for that since 3 years. Finally A-Net figured out that
1 single meta build is worse than trinity. And finally i can give back what was thrown at me for 3 years.
GW2 is about tactics and skills now, if you don’t like it GW2 is not for you
So getting a new meta for each profession is better? it’s still gonna be 1 best spec to use. nothing changes but your gear stats.
Healing one : did you watch you’re own video before streaming them out? Seriously? Who will ever use that thing instead Healing turret or even Elixir H? WHO??!! NO ONE…. just because there is no reason. Less Healing…. 44 sex cooldwon and you have to hope that you’re gyros survive… Ahahahah….please…tell me where that tiny and low health thing will survive in this game? In wich situation? Pvp? No….. Pve? No…. Www? Ahahahahha
Blast gyro… Or whatever is called… : 30 sseconds cooldwon (assuming it will be not CCed, or destroyed) for a knock back and damage? REALLY????
again… Who will ever use it? NO ONE. why a person with a normal QI will choose this gyro instead of a random kit…. Instead of a random Elixir… Instead of Mine (that do the same thing with low cooldwon)…. Even a RANDOM TURRET IS BETTER!shredder gyro : no damage. Just a spinning thing to have a fields finisher? So you want us to sacrifice one of our 3 skills slots (and we dont have weapon swap) to have a fields finisher that will be dead after a couple of seconds? Why? Why if i have a 2 seconds whirl finisher on hammer #2? AGAIN no one will use it.
Purge gyro : probably the worst.
As someone else wrote : if i split my Healing turret in 2 parts i get the Healing gyro and the Purge gyro. Dont have and dont wanna even explain why…. You should just fire the DEV who designed it.Bullwark gyro : nice idea with 3 times more HP maybe.
Sneak gyro : could be useful in some situation… But we need to try it out. Still HP bar too low.
Function gyro!! OUR SPECTACULAR NEW CLASS MECHANIC! : you did not even show it….ahahhaha… That ’s its how you care about theengineers… ah no im sorry… We know that has 30 sec cooldwon… Tiny 750 range and is destructible as the other s… For sure i will send him to stomp someone in www….it is so reliable that for sure it will have my delegation…
So at the end we will become the first class to have 8 Ai skills that no one will ever use it. St least we are the first in something!
And do you know what it makes me so sad? That the Hammer is beautiful! Probably nerfed after a week but now seems really… Really nice!
So we will use a new beautiful and well designed weapon with the same skills and kits we are useing since 3 years…. Ok ok its a change… But its Honestly not enough.
Just…. Wow…. this is a man who does not know much about the game, have you looked at how overpowered the Scrapper traits are at all? do yyou know you don’t have to use your new utilities? did you know that raids will have to take 1-2 engineers now because they are so strong?.
Raid encounters work a bit differently from other types of instanced content in Guild Wars 2. At the core of each encounter is a challenge that we want you and your group to solve. These puzzles, so to speak, will require focus on team coordination, communication, and both build and play roles.
Build roles are what you do at a character level. Things like what weapons, utility skills, traits, and even armor you choose to bring to a fight. Some encounters are going to push you to try different weapons you rarely use, some are going to challenge you to select traits you haven’t considered equipping before, and some encounters may even require a member of your group to dust off that toughness gear to bulk up and tank some heavy hits to protect the condition-build players in the back. This is just a tiny sample of the types of build roles we want to push as a core part of Guild Wars 2 dynamic combat.
Play roles are something that each player will face on an individual level. It’s all about execution here. Some encounters will require the entire raid party to perform a specific task to succeed. This could be something like gliding off the boss platform and catching an updraft to avoid a devastating attack. Other encounters will offer tasks that rely on the expertise of a few select players. This could be a specific creature that needs to be kited away from the rest of the group, otherwise exploding and dealing massive damage.
Am i the only one seeing a problem here? forcing people into a certain playstyle is not good game design, dungeons and fractal you can “play how you want” (though some only accept zerkers and that’s fine as well) but you are saying at Pax or whatever it was that “we don’t want people to wait for that specific profession that can heal” well guess what that’s exactly what your post is saying, requiring us to get a new set of gear is kittenéd when ascended is already a huge grindfest and a slight gear treadmill (albeit an extremely low one)
How do you propose that a small guild who only have 10 players will do in raids when they don’t have that Soldiers gear at hand?
It sounds to me that you are introducing the Holy trinity to the game and most people just seem to accept this, it’s kittenty game design to force people into gear change just for 1 area of the game, please don’t make raids easier but make it so you actually play how you want and still clear the content.
And how would we kill a raid boss in time when we’re forced into healing gear? if you haven’t noticed healing gear is not good, and the scaling of healing skills is extremely bad with a few exception, and please tell what profession that could outheal an Ele/guardian`? (Revenant maybe)
TL:DR Holy Trinity and forced gear selection and excluding of professions will be what is going to happen.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tome_of_Knowledge x80 Problem solved.
Or 60x and 1x https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Experience_Scroll
I have one of every class at 80 and have only leveled through the actual game 2×.You also might need map completion for legendary in which case you can just level normally as you need to do all the events anyway.
Or the 3 year thing that gives instant level 30 and then 50 Tomes
Why would you make raids require certain gear, like ttoughness or healing gear? isn’t it supposed to be about skill not gear? what is this? i prefer to play my profession with 1 set of armor, now i’m supposed to get 2 or 3 sets just for a raid? how stupid is that…. Seriously getting 1 set of ascended armor for all armor classes was idiotic enough already.
“oh but you can change stats on ascended gear now” yeah if i use a kittenton of my currency that i value quite high, please don’t do raids where certain gear is required it makes for a poor challenge and poor gameplay, and then smaller guilds will have to sit and wait around for that “tanky” guardian or that “healing ele” that you say you don’t want us to, this is enforcing certain builds and gear sets for bosses and that’s just bad in so many ways,
What will small guilds do? oh you are 10 people, but non of you are in Soldiers gear so you’re kittened! haha! is that what it is?.
So Reaper while fun still lacks what necromancers always lacked, Team support.
Because the Reaper can’t fill his bar up with shouts and take Rune of the Soldier?
Because being a living blender with a ton of AoE skills that can throw off the rotations of several enemies at once isn’t useful? Seriously, a Reaper can turn a losing fight into a winning one if they do things just right. AoE boon conversion (2 boons into 10 vuln on each opponent hit. Be a shame if they lost those might stacks,) potent AoE attacks on GS and in RS (and, hell, unblockable staff has always been decent about giving a quick, initiating bit of burst) AND an elite that freezes people, chills them for 8 seconds or more and damages relatively heavily? Yeah, we don’t help at all
So, tell me then, for raids what is the use of shouts besided the elite one? if we’re fighting 1 enemy only they suck, if we’re fighting many wells are better for damage.
I’m talking about PvE here, not everything is about Player vs Player you know.
At the guy saying just take soldier runes and shouts, do you know how kitten that would be even as “support?” it would be the most idiotic way of doing support “oh hey sacrifice these fantastic runes so you can condi cleanse with shouts!” no that’s not good support at all.
Reaper lacks proper team support, there is only the Vampiric Aura we have for now (beaten by a non-traited Virtue of Resolve by the way)- so yeah, give Reapers team support or make chill work on defiance bars because for raids that’s hardcore content you really want a profession that can save you not do 200 extra damage.
And yet what we needed just as much, team support, is nowhere to be found unless the chill stuff is an oversight, it’s all well and good we can do damage, but when we can’t support our team properly then we’re still the same semi-useless profession, why take a reaper when you can just take something with same DPS and 100 more ways of team support that will save your team? (100 is an exaggeration ofcourse)
We need team support not damage, that’s always been our main problem for teams, we bring nothing for the group at all, vampiric aura is a worse version of a standard Virtue of Resolve, the Healing in downed state/teleport downed players is only usefull if you’re not being attack and very bad when some one is ressing the person you port to yourself.
So Reaper while fun still lacks what necromancers always lacked, Team support.
Falling trait? i know it’s not the best solution but it’s A solution.
Just think how great they would have done if they had any other profession than a necro, that’s the entire point there is literally no reason for necros in PvP at all well except for easy kills.
Oh and to add, my fastest frac 50 ever was 1 warrior 1 ranger 3 necros. Nothing survived between wells and healing spring we meleed archdiviner into instant death
And my fastest was a fractal 50 with 2 warriors, 1 thief and 2 eles, we melee’d everything to death within 10-20 seconds.
Try getting that fire field blast off with a necromancer in your team.
I identify myself as a Cartwheel, WHY is there no humans that has been transformed to a cartwheel?
This is awfull really, no carthwheels, there is no kittens, spastics, lepers and a lot more, do not just include one that is discrimination, include ALL or none.
The funny thing here is actually that 99% of all other names for the specialisation from the community is just plain awfull.
I wish people would stop disliking a name just because they “think” they can do it better, you can’t Dragonhunter might not be the “best” but it sure as hell beats 99% of other names people came up with.
We get it though, because YOU think it’s immature for a name then EVERYONE should think so too but that’s not how the world works.
Now if someone actually provided proper feedback instead of the usual “lazy, immature, boring, generic” insults then they might have a point but so far that’s not been the case at all it’s even been proven by many that the lore of the name fits the GW lore.
Lastly, if the name is what makes you angry then your profession might be a tad too strong in the game now if this is your biggest concern.
All you guys names are worse than Dragonhunter except for Zealot-
This just shows how freaking privileged Guardians is as a profession, not only are they good in all 3 aspects of the game with some of the best utility and weapons but their main concern is the kittening name??? that’s privilige man.
Why the kitten would you pick any necromancer?, 95% of the teams with a necromancer loses because he is so crap that he needs a babysitter to even do decentat best. Unless you think using Lich form every 2 minutes counts as “great”.though then your choices are fine.
Spam that Lich which is the only good thing on a necro.
Anything but a necromancer as they as usual bring nothing usefull to PvP especially less to this game mode.
The good thing is we’ll soon get the Revenant profession which have a lot of necromancer’ish skills so we can play Revenant and feel like a necromancer again, i do think it’s over for the necromancer profession as anything they’ll do won’t help much, but i’m pessimistic as most long term necros
Power necro is fantastic in spvp, as well as wvw zvz. Condi necro is good in spvp and literally has the best 1v1 build in wvw. It’s fine for small group roaming too. Yeah we suck at standing in corners….. oh well.
The condescending remark shows ignorance and misinformation. “Standing in corners” is very rarely used in speed clearing groups.
Then why is there usually 0-1 Necro in decent PvP?, and why is the necro team 95% of the time on the losing team? is it because necros are sooooooooooooo good? do tell.
I can say one positive thing, in Beta weekend 1 us necromancer was fun and great. After that i will not comment on since this is about positivity.
Shaogin, spectral traits have significant opportunity cost so I do not think of them as highly as you might. There is definitely a trade for DS and dps to use spectral traits and, without the traits, spectral skills are not attractive.
Traiting wells fits better for power builds than spectral and offers team support.
Overall, I feel like specral skills need one more little tweak for a bit more defense or offense to pay for the opportunity cost. Wall is kind of a one good trick pony but a lot of professions with similar skills have that problem. Walk or Armor are candidates for a tweak, imo.
Walk, because it can be made redundant by SoL or horn, may be the better candidate for an additional effect. Perhaps an effect that is only enabled by taking both spectral traits. The opposite of Taunt comes to mind.
Yeah and you have to spend 8 trait points into defensive lines just to get that measly 3 secs of Protection and leech 300 HPs on a 50 sec cooldown. And I’m talking about only adding 5 secs of projectile destruction to the base skill. Hardly OP. As for stacking effects on skills, one look at traited Steal and eh w/e. To get the maximum out of wells would require 12 pt investment. Two are defensive, one power based, and one condi based. I don’t really see the problem with WoD taking on this role. Unless you use condi Necro and would prefer CPC for biased reasons, then I could understand that and am fine with it. WoD just seems better thematically and it’s not very popular really.
It’s not about how much you have to trait for it, it’s about what you can get if you did trait for it. Sure it may not be practical, but the possibilities are still there. Taking Spectral skills may not be as popular in pve, but in pvp they are highly used. It would be over the top to add reflection to them from a pvp standpoint. Wells are in the same category, may not be practical to trait for, but you can. And wells currently see plenty of use in all game modes for Necros. The point is to stop overbuffing skills that already perform well and start making less valued skills more practical. And no Tman, I play power Necro.
So what you are saying is, Arenanet should continue balancing around PvP only where necros still are kitten anyway if you meet anyone with 5 braincells, so yeah let’s not buff the worst PvE profession because a mediocre profession as the necromancer does crap at best in PvP.
Makes sense.
Why the kitten should they rethink it because some plane crashed?, so they can’t use knifes, guns, rifles, bombs, axes and so on because some one somewhere were killed and someone was affected by it?
It doesn’t make sense, sure a plane crashed and so what? i swear people are getting offended by anything these days, sure it’s sad people died and whatnot but did you know what this is a tribute too?, no?, well it’s a tribute to when you were a child and played around like you were an airplane very innocent if you ask me, but no you kinda people need to put down “tragedy” as a reason for not doing things, stop being so offended by anything and just enjoy (or not) the game as it is today.
Switch profession to something usefull while you still can.
I love using so called bad classes in every game and showing people up, just saying. when they find out I actually know what I’m doing usually it’s too late for them as they are in down state fighting for their life.
Profession not class*
Also most people can beat a necro unless they suck at the game, and if you are as good as you say literally all other 7 professions would be far better for you as you could actually be good for your team unlike the necromancer.
Necromancers are abysmal in PvE, PvP and WvW, unless arenanet somehow magically fix the necromancer in the upcoming expansion then they will see an even bigger fall of necromancer players.
Necros have Spectral Wall to add to the the mix and in WvW, well bombs are still a thing. So while Necros still really don’t do anything ‘necroy’ in a zerg, they’re still meta. I wouldn’t worry too much about being second class.
Maybe necro bomb is a thing in tier 3 WvW, but in proper servers they are abysmal at best, necromancer just plainly sucks hard and has done since beta weekend 1, that’s the only time necromancer was not entirely useless in the entire game.
A mesmer does a better job than “necro” bomb and mesmers are far from good in zergs.
And yet there are people like Symbolic and Khalifa, and Nemesis. I’d say a win/lose record of 2000-400 speaks a lot for itself.
And if they chose a good profession they would do even better, that’s right no matter how good you are in a necro, if you’re 10% above mediocre you’re better on all other professions, be it WvW, PvE or PvP.
Why do you think so FEW people are good at necro?, because it takes 150 times more skill and talent to be just on an almost equal footing with the rest of the professions.
And to you who say you do well on necro, try fighting good players instead.
Have any of you actually been pvping since the patch…. power necro stronger than ever.
And if you meet any one even slightly less competent than the necro, the necromancer will lose 95% of the fights in PvP still, unless you have a peeler and if you do then you’re losing because 2 on 1 makes the capping and fighting easier other places.
So it’s strong and yet still extremely kitten compared to all other 7 professions.
Try and play against non kittens and you’ll see how much necromancers lack
Hey PvE Necros! I was never really sure if DS or dagger is the way to go in PvE, so I just made some dps tests with the common meta builds for dagger and deathshroud against puppets over 60 sec. It’s nothing special, just sharing it that you guys don’t have to do it too
DpS:
1. Lich Form AA: 2072
2. Dagger: 1501
3. Death Shroud <600: 1066
4. Death Shroud >600: 762So if you like to play a Necro in PvE dungeons or fotm, wich really isn’t that bad as ppl call it, you still bring ok damage and some utility. There are better choices we know that, but a well played necro can still be useful and won’t turn your lv50 fotm into a nightmare.
But you should only use the dagger as a weapon and shouldn’t focus on DS builds. If you need ranged, axe or Lich Form is the way to go. Lich form is also 38% stronger than dagger, so it’s a dps increase during boss fights or for spike.
greez!
So what is the DPS again of Lich form auto attack since you know, it got nerfed down to 20 seconds from 30 not long ago, and still with a 180 second cooldown?, also unless you are in a kitten good group to carry you at 50 going necro is not a good option at all, it’s a decent to mediocre option at best “what other professions bring compared to necro”, damage done better, DPS done better, Support done better, reflect done better, boon uptime, condition clears, survivability, vulnerability and so on.
So sure necro can do fractal 50 if you do it in a guild group to have fun, but if you try to join a 50 fractal group, you will get kicked for being a necromancer.
Appreciate the optimism you have but we’re lacking way to much in PvE because of some stupid “e-sports” things Arenanet wants to do, so sorry for not sahring your optimism.
Sincerely a necro since the 3 day headstart.
That dragon he was fighting at the end seemed pretty cool. Not only are there no corners to stack him into but there are no walls in general. lol ><
Hope we get some dungeons with cool lookin fights like that.
The fight seemed pretty sweet, for every profession except a necromancer, stability and stun breaker is not something we necros have a lot of.
So yeah looks great, unless you are a necro (this has been 2 years of GW2 for necro players anyway though)
[quote=4795112;Kaldrys.1978:]
This is not progression since it dosent make your character stronger. But i just thought i could lvl up at least 1 character of every profession lvl 80 full exotic (since i cannot get ascended at the moment). Thats progression, im happy now.
Actually that IS progression though, vertical vs horizontal progression, vertical is what Guild wars 2 works under, Stop being ignorant just because you are not capable of understanding vertical progression
Dargon ball arena is the worst activity in this game, it should never have been implemented, so many bugs and things like that, that makes it impossble to well on a constant basis, the obstructed also works differently on different height characters, Aegis on guardians make guardians have an advantage, it’s all in all just very poorly made, it would have been fun if not for all those annoying bugs/problems that Dragon ball have. and yes i do well… but it’s still frustrating when some of your skills does not work as it should, or you get ostructed by a wall, and yet get hit by another person at the exact same location, in same area.
The daily win vs daily participation should also change, 5 wins but only 2 participate?, ridicolous when there are so many bad players.
That was such awfull opponents you had.
WvWvW, necro = fantastic
PvP, necro = meh to decent.
PvE, Necro = ultra complete awfull might as well not exist in PvE.
To me this could be too little too late. Its substantial content compared to the good but still minimal LS content but it seems more like an Eye of the North size of expansion rather than Factions or Nightfall and there are too many more b2p or f2p games out there now.
This is from my point of view but I don’t think I’m the only mmorpg player who thinks this way. The reason I think like this is basically I do not like repetition and GW2 seems built especially for this. It does it well though but I do like substantial new stuf to see and do and that is what has caused me to move between mmo’s. The thing is when I leave most games for a long period, even ftp, I dont really get back into them.
Guildwars was my first MMORPG type then Dungeons and Dragons Online, Lord of the Rings and Star Wars the Old Republic before GW2. After 3 and a half years or so with GW after the big new campaigns and Eye of the North behind, my friends had moved on, guilds I had been in disbanded or went in different directions for my liking. No substantial content was coming and I felt like I had played it out.
People said it was f2p so I could go back but though I tried I couldn’t get into the old groove again. I moved to DDO, also ftp with subs and b2p content but after a while it grew too samey to me and to be honest I wasnt willing to pay to play new content and I didnt want to pay the sub anymore to get all access. So I moved on.
I left LOTR as I never really did find a good guild there and content seemed to be getting too hard, I foud myself playing solo and again I wasnt willing to pay for anything if I couldnt have a helpful guild unit.
SWTOR was great but guild faded away and GW2 came out where many of us decided to move on too. But even after moving we had fun for a while but lots of the guys burned through the content and left after just over year, disliking the LS. I found another great guild which is mainly why I have stayed around so long but found content to be too repetitive and to lesser extent too competitive with mini games built around competitive activity and the SAB getting way too hard for me.
But even after all this and after buying a rival game I still paid for a new character slot and rolled a Mesmer for this weekend but man after lots of fun it grew old again.
I just want to explore, do new stories, dungeons, evolve my characters through new material, not repeating zones. SO now this new expansion is announced but another AAA game is about to go B2P. This “newish” game is so cheap to buy right now and evolving very fast from a bad start to something pretty spectacular I believe and that is something that I want to experience and its new and substantial.
Anet you need to try harder for people like me but there may be plenty of people going around to keep a community like Guildwars still has and maybe that’s all that matters to you. I’m moving on to something that is really growing and unless this new expansion has so much much more than the impression I have of it (or if the new game doesn’t work) then I wont be back.
Is there more material coming than we expect so far? For the first time I have a guild that has grown and still very active in game even as I leave so I could still find my way back? Anyway I’m still around just messing with my Mes but I will be moving soon. No point buying a game and not playing it.
After 2 years playing i still have so freaking much to do in the game, content as you call it, so why should they give you “more” content when there is 1000 of 1000 of “content” to do?,
Also is this just one of those “i’m leaving because this other game does what i want” well go play that kittening game then.
What you are saying is “Guild wars do not cater to my needs but this other game does”, so what?, go play that game if you enjoy it more and let us that enjoy a proper game enjoy guild wars
Is anyone else worried that it’s gonna be 18,000? Since warr and necro are the only ones with that now right now, it feels like Reve is gonna be giving that amount of health. If the reve does have that much health it’s deffo gonna be OP.
Necromancer is the worst profession in the game and have been for 2 years despite it’s 18000 health pool, how do you then correlate revenant and health pool to be OP?
Palawa Joko !
New profession not class*
That said from what little we’ve seen it looks freaking awesome, i can’t wait to try it out!
I’ve solo’ed mai Trinn on my necromancer countless times, but when i play my mesmer, warrior, Ele and thief it’s faster and easier and just as easy to stay alive.
It’s not about the profession but the skill of the person behind the screen, i would (as a necro main) rather have a profession that can be played well by less intelligent people than hope for the 5% of the necromancer base that can actually play quite well.
It’s sad to say as a necromancer main but it’s the truth.
