Final solution for league and transfers

Easiest solution for transfers is no more transfers to a higher ranked server. All you can do is transfer to a lower server which will help their population out.
Ow and of course closing the highest ranked servers for any new players.

Besides i dont understand what the fun is on being on a server who beats everyone all the time. Gaming used to be about challenges instead of what is the easiest way to win.

Kids these days are soft and don’t like a challenge. Other wise we would have a great system where crafted items were the best in game when you died it was full loot time. Ahh UO the good old days.

Not seeing the issue, screen shot didnt show me anything. Can you post a shot of the combat log showing the damage you take from it.

I have not really encountered this, perhaps once I can think of. If it was as kittenome claim I imagine I would see much more if it on the server tier I am on.

Went to purchase some keys while the zodiac weapons are still 1 ticket and all I get is a black screen on the trader with a spinning circle. Been happening for a few hours now. Sadly this is going to cause me to miss out as I am headed to work.

I’m not opposed to the league idea. But there are some pretty big problems with WvW that will only be amplified by introducing a league. Why not fix those problems before starting down a more serious format?

My guess is lack of talent would be why so many bugs are still in game from beta and launch.

Jester, what exactly is the build really being designed for – is it largely for WvW roaming or small group roaming? If so, personally, designing this as purely a condition build is or has severely decreased the builds survivability in a WvW environment, in my honest opinion – in other words, there are far better WvW Guardian builds to be had that would grant greater sustained and burst damage along with survivability than this current designed build. But in the end, give it a run in a WvW environment.

Can you please link any of them that are not asura based? I am currently running this build http://tinyurl.com/q2nj6mm and am focused on roaming/camp flipping and run with one other or solo for the most part.

I think I’ll just keep bumping this thread until it gets fixed. Don’t know how effective that is… but it’s pretty much the only power we’ve got.

Sadly it is not a matter of falling through the cracks. It is anet, not sure if it is lack of talent or what although many reported bugs are still around from beta and launch.

They should have the decency to at least admit that this league system is to simply make money from gem sales, that they don’t care/understand about the health of w v w.

People can see right through you, customers know when they getting a bum deal.

What do you think will happen when they “reward” these “skilful” *cough 24/7 coverage servers…. mass exodus from servers: for example in NA, rank 7-12 to 13-15 so they get “rewarded”. It will happen, ANET is banking on it. In the hope that a lot pay for gems to xfer. Its a cash cow – and they will milk it.

But go back to putting your blinkers on, I love this game and potential don’t get me wrong, but get your nose out of their kitten and take a whiff – it’s not roses you smell.

The few people I have heard talk about transferring are willing to get the gems although anet wont see their cash. A guild was talking about this on south shore the other day when I was farming.

I’ve consistently said we are doing 2 leagues in NA and 3 in EU. The leagues will be broken up strictly by world rating at the conclusion of the matchup prior to the league start.

The WvW Community has consistently said your ideas are bad.

You’re gonna get Jay Wilson’d if you keep it up.

Let’s face it, you’re going to have to consolidate servers here pretty soon. The lower tiers are dead, and I mean dead. I recently transferred off of one because we roamed for 2 hours and didn’t see a single player.

4 Leagues, possibly 3 when you decide it’s time to merge Anvil Rock, Devona’s, and Fergs.

More like stupid, idiotic and unwanted.

The wvw maps already have numerous problems here are some although by all means not any where to a complete list.

1) anet
2) Small population caps
3) Small size
4) Population on winning servers just zerg
5) anet
6) Skill Lag
7) anet

The league idea is moronic at this point unless they found some talent and an investor so that the wvw servers can now handle every one on a server it is simply a poorly though idea. As no one will want to be forced to queue up for a chance at this because anet lacks the talent to make the map a large enough size to handle the population.

League rewards, are they fair?

A fundamental issue with WvW is that population is the most important factor in the scoring. Numbers give stronger combat strength and coverage, and as a result of servers with higher WvW populations have enormous advantages over those with lower.

This is an unavoidable issue due to the open world nature of WvW, one which has destroyed fair competition in the scoring system. And now there are plans to reward the top servers in this new league system?

There’s just no way to create a fair scoring system, one which determines the victor by skill over numbers. Even if servers on lower tier servers earn extra points when playing against higher tier ones, the end result will still be heavily tainted by the population imbalances.

WvW just isn’t designed for fair competition, so why design rewards which act like it was? Get rid of the exclusive server based rewards and instead give rewards to guilds and individuals based on how much they preformed via things like meta achievements.

Is their a list of the rewards out yet?

I would like to see this work, although it is anet doing it so sadly a snowball has a better chance than this league system. This is an extremely stupid idea to do and will only encourage zergs which is exactly what WvW doesn’t need. Where is the doll so I can show where anet touched WvW.

3. The player must meet some form of minimum activity requirement or lose his registration for that season. (we can discuss what constitutes activity worthy of receiving the reward i guess.)

The season long reward will require you to complete the WvW season meta achievement. Which behaves much like the Living World achievements. The server for which you receive rewards will be the 1st server you log in on once the season starts. Any transfers after that will not change your rewards.

When does the season start and when can we see what servers are in each league?

1. Its personal choice, but Norn looks ways better than a Sylvari, IMO. The whole plant thing looks silly to me.

2. Norn Warriors always look cool.

3. Norn racials are horrible. Period. I don’t think any other races are as bad. Norns shapeshift into somewhat useless animals.

4. No idea. Up to you.

Norn Racial is great for solo roaming especially on a guardian or warrior. Stealth and sprint away.

Tequatl isn’t a raid boss that is only for the elites; ArenaNet wants to use the dragon as a way to get the community to come together, have fun, and cooperate for group rewards. Speaking of which, while Tequatl will drop some very juicy loot (minipets and unique ascended weapons with wicked-looking exclusive skins, anyone?), he’ll also reward those who get his health down to certain thresholds.

Stupid idea, guess the game only wants to reward dps and not team play.

The draw back and this is for any game it seems just not gw2 is that the hackers know the code better than the game developers and have more talent. In wow the floating orcs that spelled out messages in the skys over orgrimmar are an example. Every day 24 hours a day they were their and blizzard with it’s massive resources was not able to stop them.

In this case I would actually give anet the benefit of the doubt that they are doing everything they can to ensure it does not happen and to end it as quickly as possible when it does happen.

Lock server transfers ASAP.

I am going to be mainly doing WvW solo roaming and camp flipping.

Is their a new regen build like this out their, or one that uses the long bow with with a regen build?

Or any viable build for solo WvW roaming and camp flipping. On occasion will have one other with me.

No, bad idea! I have heard some anet ideas before and this is defiantly one of them. No not only no but ell no.

Put everything on the equivalent lvl 80 exotic and I would be fine with it. Taking runes out like in spvp no not at all.

So to recap.

Bringing ascended gear down to the equivalent lvl 80 exotic Yes.
Same as for bringing players upleveled armor, to the lvl 80 equivalent.

No to everything else, particles are good as they are. Runes as they are are also good, food is good. Just balance armor/weapons to be the same.

Yes, go on strike to limit Anet’s resources further, getting less work done. Why are people so impatient? Why do people not understand how long it takes, and how expensive it is to create and maintain an MMO. Anet’s doing the best they can. If you can’t wait, take a break and play another game. First off, Guild Wars 2 is buy-to-play not free-to-play. That aside, declining to give more money to a company you’re dissatisfied with, in order to encourage them to sell you what you do want, is how capitalism works.

is ESO WvW even in the betas yet? Last I heard it wasn’t. If they can pull off what they’ve been talking about (starving keeps by holding farms and mines and whatnot, having it all in a Cyrodiil sized map so it’s WvW in a WORLD, etc) it could be a serious threat. As for the sub? I spend a sub’s worth most months in the gem shop anyway, no skin off my teeth.

And @ Bailey, ESO has a target of spring 2014, which was already pushed back from spring 2013, so they might actually pull it off.

Yes, sad it was pushed back although beta is awesome. As for it being subscription based not a problem at all.

We are aware of this, but it is a non-trivial fix. We are hoping to make changes to this by the end of the year.

Perhaps you should reintroduce them when you have it fixed, that would be the smart thing to do.

I have to agree that it is time to nerf stealth or thief’s damage. Most likely both, having heavy armor high toughness and an armor rating over 3500 while still getting hit for 6k back stabs is not right.

I agree with the ideas the original poster made, would also be fine with a new mechanic being introduced to nerf thief’s. Make it so when they are stealthed it exhausts them giving them a %60 damage reduction for 15 seconds after coming out of stealth.

Or the original posters ideas would work as well.

Stealth should not remove target lock, you should regain lock once they appear.
stealth should not be stackable.
stealth should be removed when they attack and are blocked.
any and all action from stealth should remove stealth.
if you take a direct hit (not aoe) you should have stealth removed.

(And yes I have a lvl 80 thief)

60% damage reduction out of stealth is extremely heavy handed. If you have an 80 thief, you obviously have never done anything with it but run D/x in WvW. This’d destroy thief in PvE and be a major hit in PvP.
(One again, the direct damage is extreme too)

They can or so they claim separate it out, have it only affect WvW and possibly pvp. Or revamp the whole armor system, make it so heavy armor with lots of toughness makes a major impact. Right now toughness, and armor do not matter enough.

And once they make the WvW achievements more attainable, you’ll move on to whining about the lack of especially ‘difficult’ and ‘prestigious’ WvW titles like this one.

Hmmm, well I can’t say that I would “whine” I am just stating an obvious failing of this portion of the GW2 world. However if they can add titles for such things as say, “respected achiever”, what is the problem with adding a respected yakslapper title?

As for the achievements, you could just make it so that instead of getting say 10 achievement points for 50000 kills you could get at least 50 for such a milestone! If it is possible to get this same amount for doing 16/16 easy achievement in PvE, I for one cannot see the harm in upping the rewards.

Although these titles might not be considered as “prestigious” if done in tiers I can see no harm in showing to others what you have achieved thus-far. The same goes for the “milestones” in our achievement points offering a title, even though 5000 ap’s isn’t much I see many many players touting that particular one.

Last time I’m saying this for a good bit. We are going to address this system before the end of the year, ideally, and make it more in line in terms of numbers and rewards as the rest of the achievements in the game.

End of the year will be to late. When do the other games launch? ESO etc (ps beta is awesome).

Ascended Weapons and WvW

To be fair, you don’t need ascended items at all to be competitive, except if you are aiming for duels and gank.

Actually you will need the weapons. Especially for solo camp flippers or small groups who are assigned to take camps. Their is already a large enough problems with thief’s for example and their damage + stealth. Now add more damage on top of that and have the non pve player with a lower damage weapon. Yes this is a hughe mistake and an issue that needs to be killed before it goes live.

My goal is to eliminate the latter scenario. And I promise to do as much as I can to meet that.

The mats will absolutely drop in WvW. In addition, generally speaking, we are putting a heavier emphasis on finding long-term solutions to redressing the reward imbalance between PvE and WvW. I can’t claim they will ever be 100% equal all the time, but we would like it to never be the case that you are choosing between playing WvW and getting good rewards. The two should be one in the same.

So why not swing it the other way for a change and make it favor WvW. It has been imbalanced for pve long enough.

Well, I hope the difference (in stats) between ascended and exotic weapons is not too much. Because I am not getting a legendary (not interested), and looks like the ascended weapons will be time consuming to get.

I bet ascended weapons will have the same complains as old ascended items, until they add a Badges of Honor version of ascended weapons (they should upgrade the exotic ones you get on NPCs to ascended version (or add), doesn’t matter if the skin is ugly, and make that weapons cost more badges, so PvEers don’t complain, a balance)

I see no reason to change them, I have not even seen them used in game and my server is playing some fairly heavy hitters lately (not doing great but playing them) I am on dragonbrand.

Absolutely granted the runes are worthless for my class, as I do not have enough interrupts. And seeing as how I have yet to see the set up used I do not see their is a problem. If it was as uber and pwned as much as it did I imagine I would see every other enemy having these runes and that is just not the case.

P.S. My guardian and necro can cleanse it and so can other class’s just build your self properly if this is your concern. Then their are foods and runes to neutralize it. Again if you are so worried about it do something about it.

I personally believe that confusion should only exist in utility skills/runes/sigils.

(maybe in mesmer traits, but no other class makes sense.)

Ranger,
If you do a regen ranger you can let the pet take agro while you harvest and then run away. No harm if the pet dies (most likely will not). I wound up putting them on my guardian hoping it will force me to play the guardian more.
