I love the over-tough princess dolls. My engineer usually can take them down with turrets, but they are awesome if you can drag a champion near them, or when like last year they spawned on the Champion harathi warlord inside the fence and kicked his kitten enough so myself and a fellow thief could finish him.

Work overtime for one Saturday. Use proceeds to buy gems and sell gems to buy gold.

You can speculate either direction and be equally likely to be wrong. If I were wanting to save some bank space but hedge the risk of a reduction I’d turn half my stash into bolts and sell the other half of my scraps at today’s inflated price.
A guess on my part is that silk will go down in price regardless of whether they change from 3/bolt to 2/bolt just because the bulk of the population that desires ascended armor will eventually sate their needs.
/disclosure: I have no position in silk or silk futures. I sell it as I get it because I’m planning on waiting for ascended armor to become old news before making my own.

I’ve played worse grindfests than GW2. That said, it has become more grindy than it started out.
/played WoW grinding reputation for a snow cat mount (that was before “the tardening”)
//Built a guild city in AOC…okay “assisted” in building a guild city in AOC. No human could grind that much singlehandedly.
///slashies are teh cool? right? You could build CITIES??? Like, Guild Housing, only on a larger scale?
Yep and the building inside determined what you crafted and to what level of quality. Also came into play in sieges, which were large scale battles between guilds…though when I was still playing there were lots of bugs. Not sure if that got fixed or not.

I sell all the silk I get. I even have a tailor leveled to 402. I’m not bothering with ascended armor till Q2 2014. so I figure I may as well take the profits while I can.

Also, how exactly does one install a mac client on linux? And use it without wine?
I’m not certain, but there is the darling project. I wasn’t aware it was far enough along to support mac games though. Last I heard it was for command line programs.

I’ve been thinking of running it in wine or more specifically Crossover, but haven’t yet due to laziness and having to download a bunch of 32 bit libraries. It is basically the only reason I dual boot windows. I used to run GW 1 exclusively in Wine and it was mostly fine.
Probably if I get time over the holidays I will give a shot at it once I upgrade to openSUSE 13.1
/Open SUSE 12.3 64 bit.

Rather than chew up the entire VO budget getting S.L.J. They’re more likely to hire Ralph Garman, then have him do eleventy brazilian voices for different characters and still have money left over.

I like it the way it is. I’m on a crowded server and while LA takes some time to load it’s a great cosmopolitan feel. If you spread folks out too much you lose some of Massively part of the MMO.
Yeah you could have a world wide chat, but anyone who remembers /trade in WoW knows the problems that can have.
I look at Lion’s Arch as being a tyrian New York city. Divinity’s reach is Albany, the state capital(or if you prefer Rio de janeiro or even São Paulo compared to Brasilia) . Political/administrative centers don’t have to be the main city of a nation or state.

I just use Ebonhawke as my city of choice unless I need guild merchants it is fine. Crafting, banks and TP close together and never a crowd.

… Switching attunements also counts as a weapon swap for sigils on your equipped weapons.

/my powers of observation are amazing.

Concentrate on the two you’ve chosen. Don’t delete the others. Just park them like Garambola said. You never know when your guildies may be doing something interesting and have a stronger need for one of them or if a guildie or other buddy needs help on a mission and one of them may be be a more helpful choice.

Trail mix recipe is barely in timberline falls. If you can reach the southernmost exit from Lornar’s pass you can walk unmolested to the moot in Timberline falls and the heart mission there is pretty easy. Mostly waking drunk folks. Though the drunk skritt may kick your but.

SO far I like it. I’ve mostly done it only on Thief/mesmer and recently Engineer. But after the initial getting used to it period I’ve come to like it.

Folks above have made great recommendations for specific parts so I’ll just add a few things to keep in mind when building a system.
1} “infrastructure” is important.
a} That means don’t cheap out on a power supply best to avoid using the one that comes with the case. 650 watts and up from solid brands.
b} cooling is key. That includes both the guts(Processor, Hard disk and Graphics card) as well as the case itself. They’ve made good suggestions for processor coolers. When you price a graphics card don’t try to save $5 by getting one with a poor cooler. Lots of metal is a fair indicator. Pay no attention to cool art work or fancy lights. If they spent their budget on bling they likely skimped on cooling ability with smaller weaker fans or limited metal surface area. For case fans I personally prefer fewer larger fans with lower speeds than many small fan running like jet engines.
c}excepting water cooled systems which I wouldn’t recommend for some ones first build, cooling comes down to brute force surface area(increased by large chunks of finned metal and good thermal paste(“goldi-locks” neither too little nor too much) and fans forcing reasonably cool outside air across the metal.
c.1} keep your PC in as cool a room as possible. No reasonable cooling system can overcome a room that’s 40 degrees C. Basements are often a good choice if you have no problems with flooding.
2} choose a motherboard with some expansion slots preferably mostly PCI express. My own experience with even good brands of consumer boards is after a year or so you may have problems with onboard network ports and often onboard sound basically blows. Expansion slots let you add cards to cover the things motherboards rarely do well without having to gut your system in the future, and can be added in the future no need for them immediately. The sound may not be as much of an issue if you use a USB headset for hearing and talking.

I’d suspect that existing games that support Open GL will have a high chance of supporting Steam OS. Games that do not likely will not. That said new as yet unreleased games, not yet married to Direct X, have a better chance of choosing open GL and thus steam OS.
After all you can run an open GL game on windows AND the other OSes, whereas a direct X game engine is Windows only(barring use of WINE). So probably no guild wars 2 on steam OS, but maybe whatever project Arena net is planning for 2015+

There’s also the chance that this year a different item may drop or fragments of candy corn. In GW1 holiday component drops did not always stay the same during the first few years.
In which case the price might just shoot back up.

What little I’ve done I use the following work flow
Record with Fraps (I bought the full version like 3 or 4 years ago. You buy it once and the patches/updates are free after that) usually half screen resolution. your processor may be better than mine or your video card may be better so you might try full screen capture.
Edit with KDEnlive to add music and transitions etc. Save file as the highest quality I can…I think I used NTSC DVD or some such, but it’s been a while and I can’t remember. KDEnlive is Free.
Upload to Youtube. Youtube will convert it to flash and WebM and a variety of resolution settings.
Some specs of my system that may influence recording etc.

I may get Flamed, but My own server Jade Quarry would probably meet your needs. I always see lots of folks around and we do fair in WvWvW. Another equally valid choice would be Sanctum of Rall. From everything I’ve heard folks are active in both parts of the game and I can attest to their activity in WvWvW

Don’t fixate on selling at the absolute peak of a market. Take what profit you decide is worthwhile at the time and don’t Monday morning quarterback yourself. Take some happiness at the knowledge that you didn’t buy at a peak. Life is a lot more relaxing that way.
? Marcus Aurelius Antoninus
Not sure if it counts as “permanent” content, but I’m here mostly for my awesome guildies. Like any game if you’re not playing with other people you like you probably won’t stick around long.
? Marcus Aurelius Antoninus
Risen Thralls are bottom feeders. At least in my characters experiences. They’re the mob that kills me just as I escape from a different more badkitten mob. In the case of my mesmer I seem to cause them to spawn at my down spot.

“Where do I farm?”
I would suggest somewhere that has rich soil, decent water and reasonable amounts of sun. Once you get more advanced you can try hydroponics where you only need a good source of water and plant nutrients.

Great to see this. While mine is not that old it is good information to have so I can consider it when i do feel the need to do something besides spending money.
Not using the onboard sound is always a good suggestion if you can do it. Even a cheap sound card will usually have better sound quality than onboard sound and a good one will lessen the pressure on a CPU.

The game worked ok in Wine when last I played it. That was maybe early 2012. I think it was the default version that came with Open SuSE 11.3. Unless there’s been some regression GW1 should still run fine under Wine.
One note I do recall having to run it in Windowed mode back then with the -dx9 argument on the launch command. That may have changed.

Gnashblade is a better choice. Do you really want a cop(Ellen Kiel) negotiating a trade agreement?
? Marcus Aurelius Antoninus
Another way is to keep a .txt file handy you can alt tab to that has all the accented characters in it. You just highlight the one you need, then copy and paste. But yeah the other work arounds are good to know. And seem a bit more elegant.
? Marcus Aurelius Antoninus
Also Like its predecessor(GW1) end game is(or was) expected to be PvP WvWvW.
They really seem to encourage the idea that PvE stuff is for an alternate route to level to 80 then PvP.

Others have already covered bringing back AB or at least Cantha, But I’d have to say Guild Halls. I miss standing around and occasionally defending our guild hall with my Buddies.

North America or EU?
In North America I’d of course suggest my Own JQ. It is active in both. Good arguments could also be made For Black Gate and SoR as well, But I believe Jade Quarry has better cookies than the others.

Ofcourse there is a reason why bother with i7 3770 and it is a simple one-money.
I am a University student, students aren’t known for their riches exactly.
I will upgrade when the time comes probably but for now that is the best I can afford with my current disposable income.
As with the others I’d recommend Intel for it’s single thread performance. AMD makes great stuff for other needs, but for GW2 Intel has been getting the muscle crown.
On a side note; Students not known for their wealth? You sir (or madam) have wealth beyond the wildest dreams of middle aged folk. Surrounded by all the knowledge of the world, unlimited time to browse it while surrounded by young folks of whichever sex you prefer and easily accessed quantities of alcohol and other inhibition lowering substances.
Mark my words you will not re-achieve this state again.
? Marcus Aurelius Antoninus
Another handy bit of information would be your monitor. What resolution will you be using mainly. A lesser card that ran the game fine at 1440 × 900 may choke trying to push 1920 × 1080.
No need to spend $1000 on a graphics card in my opinion. Mostly Guild wars 2 seems bound by the CPU. A $200 nVidia 660 or the AMD equivalent should handle well enough.
? Marcus Aurelius Antoninus
I’m currently on jade quarry. lots of PvE dungeons going on. We are actually pretty heavily PvE for a server that is known as being WvWvW centric. Actually I think our PvE playing tendancies have pulled people out of WvWvW these past several weeks.

I played GW1 for many years and it was fun.
The game evolved though. In the beginning it was a different kind of multiplayer game. And it was great fun. You HAD to work with people because henchmen were like the most braindead of the braindead pugs.
Then as expansions came out and gameplay was modified Guild wars 1 became a single player game with a fairly active PvP. That’s not necessarily bad. As the player numbers decreased or moved into PvP only and the world area expanded something had to be done. The heroes were that needed change. What was lost would probably have been lost anyways. Great random groups.
The only thing I expected GW2 to hold over from GW1 was some Lore and the buy once play as long as you want business plan.
I like both games, but there’s no way I’ll ever take another character through an entire campaign in GW1. I occasionally log in to visit Alliance battles, but that’s it. I enjoy GW2 now as a different game, but can see I’ll likely stop playing after I get my Alts to 80 unless an expansion comes out by that time.
