The 3 blacksmiths in the Storyline

I could see dev favoritism towards Sylvari given all the interviews, blogs, articles, etc. about them pre-release. (I recall a lot more pre-release content about Sylvaris than humans or asuras, for example.)

However, I think it’s more likely that the reason Sylvaris are so prominent in the story is that Zaithan is “their” Elder Dragon. There are risen in their starting zone and they’ve been dealing with them since level 1. They also have the unique property of being immune to Zaithan’s corruption. The sylvari story is tightly linked to Zaithan and its risen army.

So yeah it kind of make sense that Sylvaris are always in the spotlight in the campaign against Zaithan. All races have an elder dragon though, so if, for example, the first expansion is a campaign to hunt Jormag, it’s likely going to be all about norns.

I guess if you really don’t like Sylvaris, you can rejoice since it would mean that they get their time when the game is least polished.

Heavy Armor Look

I think the soldier professions have the best balance for armor looks. There’s a good variety compared to, say, the medium armors that are all trenchcoats, or the light armors that are nearly all skimpy on the ladies.

I also wanted a very “knightly” look for my main, and I think she looks pretty kitten awesome in her current set. (Linked a pic.) It’s mostly heritage armor but with the crafted exotic leg piece (I love flowing stuff), and with those large heritage shoulders, gloves and boots makes my warrior look strong and stoic like a knight even though human females look quite frail in this game.

I wish it showed my girl’s legs instead of those scales pants. (I like armor that’s juuuuuust a little bit revealing.) I also wish the metal thing covering the legs was a little higher so it covers the seam on the waist. But other than that it is dead on the look I’m looking for.

Role-Playing community?

I can confirm that Tarnished Coast is THE server to roll on if you’d like to role-play your character. At peak hours, nearly every tavern of the big cities are taken over by role-players, and sometimes people role-play even on the field, after an event or something.

I’m sorry I can’t really tell you if the RP guilds are doing what’s on that website though. I don’t get to play this game as much as I’d want to, so I’m still unguilded and a bit isolated from the server’s community and playing on my own.

I see a problem with redoing hearts. I was doing Metrica Province and Caldeon Forest zone completion yesterday on my main (level 80 warrior) and she was beyond overpowered; she did 1,500 damage AoE with Hundred Blades, completing any “heart” that accepts mob slaying in like 2 minutes. If Arenanet puts daily heart achievements, everyone is going to take a portal to a 1-15 zone and do the same low-level hearts while it’s the mid-level zones that are empty.

I think a better idea to promote world exploration would be to put mini-pets or prestige armors(*) and have each set involve a grind in mid-level to high-level zones. (Different zones for different items.) There could be a hidden karma vendor in each zone that sells you items based on your reputation in that zone, and at high reputation they could sell you patterns and mats to craft level 80 prestige armor and mini-pets. You could raise your reputation by completing events at level 80. (With group events giving a lot more because it sucks for low levels being alone versus champions.)

(*) Prestige armors in Guild Wars 1 were redesigns of classic armor skins, but they could look more heroic, meaner, skimpier, etc. but in all cases they looked a lot better than the original and required a lot of gold to create. In GW1 they were just as good as other max-level armors, although in GW2 they should probably be ascended since they’d take more work to get than regular exotic and the devs said that the point of ascended tier was that exotics were too easy to obtain and they needed an additional tier before legendary.

The prospect that they’ll extend the story and give us reasons to revisit old zones is very exciting. I can see that meaning new events in the old zones related to the new story, with new items to collect for those that bother.

I’d also like this to include ascended armors with new skins and accessories that don’t need dungeon runs to obtain, that way everyone would be able to obtain the best gear. Just make it a long grind so it really is between exotic and legendary.

Does your profession fit your playstyle?

Bearhugger.4326

Well I like defense but I usually prefer “knights” to “paladins” when it comes to gameplay and themes, and in most games both are great tanks, so I went with a warrior instead of a guardian.

Looking back at it, a guardian might have suited my playstyle better since warriors can’t even bunker right now, but I hate the Guardians’ shield skills (no blocks on their shield???) and I like carrying one so I’m not sure I’d find a guardian cooler, plus I find the warrior’s block skills more fun and active to use.

Would you buy an expansion?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Bearhugger.4326

If they go forwards with forcing us to run dungeons in order to get BiS gear, then I’m pretty much done with the game because, with all due respect to the devs who tried to make a different MMO, I don’t like how they did the dungeons and I don’t want to be forced into one to progress my character.

But if, on the other hand, they make ascended gear obtainable through events, karma or crafting, then I’m going to have a lot of things to do and I’ll buy the expansion in a heartbeat. The last AMA suggested that they’d do it so I’m holding my breath until then.

PS: It’s not a do-what-I-want-or-I-quit pseudo-threat there just isn’t anything for me in a dungeon-focused GW2 unless dungeons change radically.

But all that aside, you’re complaining about realistic clothing on people’s thieves and rangers when my Asura Engineer is running around with one of her three laser rifles, trailing her toy golem and randomly changing into a toy golem herself?

I never said anything about realism, I’m talking about fitting with the general themes of the classes, and some of the suggestions I see for medium armor are just as unfitting as clown armor would be for engi, thieves and rangers.

Thief’s have almost no form fitting or skimpy armor to chose from.

I disagree with your opinion that a thief should were bulky clothing. It would attract attention for a thief to be wearing clothing that makes noise. Thief’s need less clothing so they can move quietly and hide to blend in with the population.

I don’t want them to wear bulky armor like warriors, I simply want them to wear armor that looks like what a thief would wear. You know it’s well designed when you look at the character and you know right away that it’s a thief. You won’t really figure it’s a thief if she wears leather thongs… Unless she wears a mask but I think you’ll agree that it would look ridiculous to wear a mask if you’re not covering the rest of your body.

Skimpy gear works for light armor users because they don’t need armor in the first place, and for a mesmer it 100% makes sense to dress like that; they should look… well, mesmerizing.

It also works for heavy armor users (at least warriors) because they are strong, athletic and fit characters, so it makes sense that they’d want to show some of their powerful body to intimidate. (Or at least the human males and all norns since most human females look anorexic.)

But no, I don’t see a reason for medium armor users to wear that. They need stuff that looks stealthy, sneaky, ninja-ish (which is form-fitting by the way) or dark, all that coming with a nice assortment of hats and masks. The current medium armors that are exposing look reasonable enough to me, they shouldn’t go as overboard for that type of armor as they did for light or heavy armors because it would denature the professions that wear it, especially thieves and rangers.

There should be a map wide RP chat channel. For adult players only, who don’t mind seeing more mature language in their chat log.

And a “/Sayrp” channel for more mature chats.

Chat channels can be unlocked in the gem store through a CC age validation.

I don’t think role-players have any more rights then normal players when it comes to the level of language allowed.

If Arenanet want to do anything to support role-players, I think they just consecrate Tarnished Coast as the official “RP” server and give a free transfer to people who hate it or want to come RP from other servers.

I don’t think Arenanet would have to do any additional work to support a RP server. Considering that in Guild Wars 2 you have to move ALL your characters to one server, you won’t really have RP haters rolling alts on an official RP just to troll the role-players unless they’re ready to transfer their whole account and pay gems.

In my view, the Trinity Needs to Come Back

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bearhugger.4326

Bearhugger.4326

As a defense-oriented player I enjoy being a tank in other MMOs and missing that I’ll pick healing and support over damage dealing any time of the day, so I would also prefer the trinity to whatever we have now.

However, for all its advantages, people need to acknowledge that the trinity is also a very flawed system: one of the biggest issues is that hybrids must be jacks-of-all-trades but also masters-of-all otherwise they’re not going to be used in high-end PvE.

Also, Guild Wars 2 was advertised as a game that shatters the trinity.

So with all things considered, I think Arenanet would be better to try to push a new solutions instead of copy-pasting the trinity. As long as it has a place for people like me who prefer defense to damage dealing I’ll take it whether it’s the trinity or not.

I agree that medium armor needs more diversified armor skin, but please, no more skimpy armor, for thieves and rangers it looks dumb. Just think about it a minute… why would your thief want to attract attention on herself, and why would a woodrunner like your ranger hunt half-naked? It might be a fantasy game but it doesn’t mean that the armor sets don’t need to make sense.

I think we have enough trenchcoats, but the new medium armors should still look stealthy or have camouflage because it fits the themes of all professions wearing them. (Except maybe engineers but as a ranged profession I don’t see them wanting skimpy gear either.)

Bearhugger.4326

While there is no official “RP” server, there is a very large amount of role-players on Tarnished Coast and Arenanet shouldn’t neglect that. When examinating tickets coming from Tarnished Coast, I think Arenanet should check if it comes from in-character players. Of course, role-playing is not an excuse for breaking the rules, but unless the language used is obscene, I think RPers should be free to role-play characters in situations such as a dispute or being intoxicated.

That said, I don’t know why the OP’s guildies were banned, but as a role-player who rolled on Tarnished Coast, I have to say that if you absolutely have to role-play a character that hates <insert real-life race/gender/sexual orientation> or that can’t say two sentences without 10 f- words, not only you are breaking the rules, but you are also a very boring role-player to play with. And my character hates yours.

As far as I know, the only thing they said about the January patch is that it was “an expansion worth of content, for free.” Not sure what it means, because MMO expansions can go from very cheap to very generous ones. Personally, I really hope that whatever it is, it includes new ascended armor sets that you can get without doing dungeons. (Even if it’s harder to get than an exotic.)

I can live with the fact that Ascended gear exists since it’s supposed to be just an additional tier not a gear treadmill. Although I would prefer that it didn’t exist…

My problem is that the only way to have Ascended gear is by running dungeons. I don’t like this game’s dungeons and I’m penalized for it. If they ever introduce a way to gain access to ascended gear without dungeons, I don’t think there would be nearly as much complaining.

Bearhugger.4326

Naysayers gonna say nay, but this is easily Game of the Year for me. This game is not perfect (no game is) and I’m very critical of the game myself, but when I compare it to other games that came this year, Guild Wars 2 has 10 times the replay value (only Diablo III comes close) is a lot of fun, was released in a relatively stable state for a game of this size, has one of the best visual/PC requirement ratio (mostly due to its amazing artists), has no monthly fee and still pushes one major patch a month that aren’t even DLCs, innovates in a gaming genre that has been stagnating since WoW and the endless stream of WoW clones, etc, etc, etc.

Yeah, not perfect, but considering what it did versus what other games were released in 2012, it deserves the Game of the Year 2012 title. I can’t vote because I don’t want to make a GameSpot account and be spammed with game ads, but I would definitely give it my vote if I had an account.

That said, I highly doubt it’s gonna get GotY 2012 it since it’s not a console game…

Having skills when unharmed would be really cool. Warriors, thieves and guardians could do martial arts while unarmed, while casters could shoot stuff out of their fingers (elementalists doing Sith Lightnings in their air attunements would be awesome).

Javelins or crossbows as a ranged weapon would be very nice for the warrior since the profession doesn’t have a one-handed ranged weapon, which means you can’t use the shield in range. Maybe in an Elona expansion for the javelin.

Adding staves to the warrior or thief’s arsenals and making them do stick fighting (bâton or whatever the fighting style is called) would also be nice. Could be added in a Cantha expansion.

Greataxe because… wait, do I need to explain? It’s a greataxe. =)

Nunchakus don’t feel like a real weapon.

“Katana” is just a fancy name for a greatsword, we’re probably getting them in a Cantha expansion but they should stay greatswords, no sense in making a new weapon class for katanas when it’s already in the game.

Skimpy clothing preference

Bearhugger.4326

My warrior is a lady and I’m not really interested in equipping her with something absurdly skimpy like the armor you see in games like Final Fantasy X-2, TERA or Perfect World. Don’t get me wrong, I quite enjoy that kind of eye candy but I want my warrior to look cool before she looks sexy, there’s half the Internet for the latter. =P

If I could make a request for my warrior’s armor, it would be something that looks knightly like the Elite Templar Armor from Guild Wars 1. It reveals some cute leg skin but it still looks like heavy armor and the lady looks very heroic wearing it.

I think it would also be really cool to have a berserker armor; something that looks like Diablo II’s barbarian. To justify that being in the “heavy” armor class, make the kilt and boots in metal and make the chest armor include metal bracer and big shoulder, but leave the chest exposed.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria (expansions usually count as new games)

Star Wars: The Old Republic (was released in 2011 but after most GotY awards so technically it’s considered a 2012 game as far as awards go)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I prefer the open world, I find dynamic events really fun and that’s the main draw for me. I’m not kidding myself thinking I’m doing hard content (and I wouldn’t want those events to be hard due to their open and inclusive nature) but that’s what I prefer doing.

As a defense-oriented player I actually enjoyed the tank role, and since the trinity was killed in this game, I have no interest in dungeons beyond story modes. (Which nobody runs anymore.) I’m not complaining or saying they suck, they’re just not what I’m looking for in a dungeon. Call me old school but I want to stay in front of huge bosses. =)

Personal Story is all about Sylvari...

I have the feeling that the Sylvari race is a little like the “babies” of the story writers and character designers: they built a whole race from scratch and they seem to like it a lot. I remember a lot of blog posts and interviews about them before the game’s release. (Compared to other races.)

So I’m not really surprised that they get a lot of exposure in the game’s main story and that the heroes are almost all Sylvaris. It doesn’t really bother me though, the writers should write stories for the characters that inspire them, and if that means tons of Sylvari heroes then so be it.

What bothers me is not the Sylvari race as a whole, it’s a particular Sylvari called Trehearne, but that has been discussed through and through in other topics.

Explorable mode dungeons are too hard for a LFG tool to work. You’ll get matched with people not prepared for the dungeon and the whole encounter will be a massive pain. This is basically what happened in WoW: Cataclysm where the developers increased the difficulty of the dungeons but still forced players to use the LFG tool to get their valor badge. (And keep in mind that Cataclysm’s heroic dungeons were still A LOT easier then GW2’s explorable dungeons, which are more like “raid” level difficulty.)

Ironically I thought the fractals would lead to a decrease of the price for the exotic mats (since it’s no longer the highest gear) so I decided to wait for my 2nd exotic piece… horrible, horrible mistake.

And now, I learn that I wouldn’t even see my own character in the cutscenes… I wonder if I’ll ever bother now. I already lost all interest in running my story at around level ~65-70 because I realized that it really was Trehaerne’s story and he doesn’t interest me.

Guild Wars 2 Story Research

in Personal Story

Posted by: Bearhugger.4326

Bearhugger.4326

1)
I’m 28, male.

2)
It depends on the genre, really. For an RPG, you are very involved in a story (unless it’s a jRPG) so I can’t see myself “bonding” with my main character if the story is a total bore. For other games, it’s a “nice to have” feature and I’ll definitely enjoy it more if there’s a good one, but I don’t see it as important as in a RPG. However, for a racing, sports or FPS game… well, I hope they don’t bother with a story.

3)
Characters are a lot more important for me. I have seen a lot of bad stories being saved by interesting characters (Final Fantasy VIII comes to mind) but I have yet to see a good story make up for terrible characters. I believe that a story is only as good as its characters, and that a great story is carried by great characters.

4)
Strange question. I’m not sure where I stand. I like exploring a wide variety of characters instead of trying to put myself in the game, but when I pick a character, regardless of their race or gender, it’s because I want to identify myself to him or her. Basically I play who I’d like to be if I was a hero of Tyria, and if it brings me to play a charr female then I’d play that. Right now I have a male charr, norn and silvari and my main is a human woman. They’re light-years away from being me, but I strongly “bond” with all of them. (Or I wouldn’t play them.)

5)
It’s both. I always have an idea of the personality and background story for my characters (I play on the designated unofficial RP server, so…) but because my characters talk and take decisions without my input, I don’t always feel that they are the ones I envisioned at character creation.

6)
Depends on the character. Right now, my main character’s goal is to defeat Zaithan. She doesn’t really know what she’ll do after that. She used to be a simple barmaid and never dreamt about glory, but after Shaermore she got dragged into it, and from there she’s been living crazy things. She’d like to go back to living a tranquil life after this, but with all the glory she earned, she knows she can’t really go back to a simple life of kicking the behinds of drunkards who don’t pay their drinks.

On the other hand, my norn is the opposite: he’s in it for the glory, he doesn’t care how he gets it, so no his goals is not to defeat Zaithan or the dungeons, it’s to make his name in the norn legends. (Basically his introduction speech.)

7)
I feel it could be done better. There is no continuity the way there are in single-player RPGs. For example, a particular character told my charr at the end of level 11-20 arc that he’ll see him again in the future, but that never happens because nothing later references previous story arcs, and unless I’m blind, that character doesn’t appear in my home instance either. I’d like to be able to go back in my home instance and have my characters’ friends react differently based on what she has accomplished, and maybe have their story continue. Character fell in love, got a new job, etc. Nothing big, just something that makes them feel like they have a life after meeting you. The game should remember more what you have done and try to put some continuity to the story.

Another thing I found that hurts immersion is that the game doesn’t seem to care who I am, and it makes the game feel less personal. I think that sometimes the NPCs should react differently based on your profession, race or gender. For example, when I bring my human in the Black Citadel I expect her to get discriminated. It would be really cool if some NPCs moaned when she passes by them. There could also be a merchant or two giving her ludicrous prices unless intimidated, or a charr bar tender that refuses to serve drinks to humans and starts bar fights when he sees one. And of course that would be a great way to “forge” your character’s personality with tons of intimidation or talking.

8)
Considering that a character must make about 16 choices over his or her story, there are 43,046,721 possible paths a character can follow, and that’s a character who picked the same race I did… so I don’t think anyone has actually played through the exact same stories as I have. Even if it was possible though, it wouldn’t bother me at all. The experience of other players is not my own and it cannot take anything from mine. Besides, my characters still have heavily customized looks and I have yet to see a carbon copy of any of my characters.

9)
I think the personal story does a good job at introducing you to your race’s problems, to your race’s iconic, and later to the world’s general story, but it doesn’t tell you everything. You have to play through dungeons to learn what happens to your race’s iconics, and you have to play through reknown hearts and events to learn the land’s lore. The personal story is a piece of the puzzle, but it’s not the whole picture.

I believe it’s the bottom-left on the first page. You can’t miss her really, she has noticeably thicker legs then every other physiques out there, especially from the side. Her skin doesn’t show muscles which is a little strange for the character with the biggest arms and legs (it’s not like there are fat characters in this game) but like I said you don’t see that unless you have max pixel shaders and skimpy armor.

I went with middle torso thickness (whichever that one was) with the muscular build. With full plate armor on you can hardly see your girl’s shapes anyway, at least not beyond how well you fit through doorways.

That’s why I ignored the body textures and went straight for the heaviest body. If you want your girl to look powerful in heavy armor, that’s the body you need to pick. Besides, you need pixel shaders on to see the muscle textures on female humans, so to 3/4 of the players the muscular build looks like another anorexic body type.

I’d say Guardians since they get great support and survivability for free, while other professions have to trait to be serious in the role they want to do. And also, it’s not a “jack-of-all-trades” kind of deal because when they trait for support or survivability they are the best. (I think this is going to be a serious balance issue in the long-term.)

The young ones are not that bad. I have a defense/support traited warrior and with the reflection on Shield Stance and Counterblow the karkas practically do the work for me while I regen ~500 per second from their other attacks. I actually like fighting them. =)

The red drakes are very annoying because they stack tons of Confusion. I get some condition removal and remove the Confusion and if stacks too high.

The veterans I don’t even bother. I don’t have a lot of damage because of my soldier/cleric gear and by the time I get to their second life the adds around have respawned and I have to run away if I don’t want to get zerged.

Warriors as good at tanking as Guardians?

Since your group design calls for 4 dps and 1 ‘tanky’ guardian, why not have up to 3 or 4 warriors to be perfectly honest? Tons of condition removal, tons of Vulnerability stacks, second-to-none dps — you fly through content.

Fair enough, but maybe some warriors would rather play defense and support and don’t like being a poor man’s guardian? I know I do. Quite frankly, I prefer tempering my defenses and monopolizing a mob’s attention than stacking myself on berserker gear to see cute numbers pop.

All classes have the option to spec into defense or support, why does one outclass everyone else at those roles, sometimes without even traiting into those roles? With all due respect for the game designers, I think they’ll have to review their decision to put a support-focused class, because the current design for guardians reminds me vanilla WoW’s warriors, where the class was a better tank then fully-speced druids and paladins even though most warrior tanks only put 15 points in protection and 31 in arms. Change “tank” with “defense and support” and that describes guardians pretty well.

Now, I don’t like this game’s dungeons at all (I kept WoW since I like the trinity and I like tanking.) so personally, I don’t really care who’s better in a high-end PvE setting, but if I did I know I wouldn’t be pleased to be pigeonholed into a class I don’t like too much just so I can be the best at defense and support.

On increasing the level cap

Although I’d prefer standalone campaigns to WoW-style expansions that deprecate all your previous accomplishments, in the end I don’t think I’d care that much if they raised the level cap. I never grinded XP in that game, I did events and crafting, and I barely saw my level 80 coming. If they raise the level cap to 90 I’ll start exploring and doing quests, and the first thing I’ll know is I’m level 90. With downscaling everywhere, level is just a gating mechanism, really.

Build; Vital Tanking Healer (Dungeon/Wv3)

in Warrior

That’s exactly the kind of build I want for my warrior. Thank you. =)

I have to ask though… wouldn’t Toughness be better than Vitality for a build that focuses on self-healing? Looking for a build that specializes in defense, support and healing, I went for Cleric gear on my exotics since it has healing and toughness. As a defense-oriented warrior, am I kittening myself? I realize it lacks condition damage which isn’t ideal for the bow…

I would have liked my mentor to be risen as the undead on my return to Claw Island or later in Orr. This would put a face to the horde of undead we face, and this would give an ounce of tragedy in the story.

GW2 takes everything you love about GW1...

I was never a big fan of Guild Wars 1, but here’s a few things I like:

1- No monthly fee. Yeah, <3 for keeping that. =)

2- Great and varied-looking gear. The gear we have looks good, but I feel there could be a LOT more variety in gear style. Of course it’s only the first game though, the first game has 4 full games with several sets each.

3- Easy to get max gear. That was true until ascended gear was introduced. Although ascended gear could be compared to the green weapons of GW1, I guess.

4- PvP designed around player skill rather then gear. Yep, that one came back.

Female Body Shape

in Human

Bearhugger.4326

This seriously confuses me. Why do the body-types for the human females that look like they have more body-fat have far smaller breasts than the thinner body types?

[snip]

It’s because the “heaviest” female human body type is a muscular build, not a fat build. I wonder why they didn’t push harder on the pencil to make the muscles on the skin pop out more, but looking at the profile view, she definitely has the most muscular legs, and in heavy armor she looks a lot stronger then the other human females. (And even some norns.)

Actually it might as well be the only muscular model for human females because the one you have flagged as “most muscular” is in fact only muscular if you have full pixel shaders activated in your settings, so for 80% of the people she’s just another skinny character. I wouldn’t pick that character build if I wanted to play an athletic woman, I would pick the “heavy” build. (It’s probably not intended that a character looks skinny or muscular depending on your video settings, some players might have surprises when they’ll upgrade their computers, especially all those elementalists…)

So yeah, it’s a muscular build, not a fat build, that’s why she has small… you-know-what. =P

You don’t really have fat builds in Guild Wars 2. It seems the art team has idealistic views of characters, making everyone look young, fit and heroic. Not sure why you can’t have fatter builds in such a setting though, because for some character archetypes it can be cool to be a big fat guy, such as those tanky character. I would totally play a fat guardian. Not fat as in morbid obese, fat as far as fantasy heroes can be fat.

Class debate : tank: guardian or warrior

I don’t think you gave a serious shot at a defense warrior? With mace+shield they can block more often then even a guardian, Defy Pain, a lot of regen traits, and then depending on spec, they can go in Tactics and gain heals on shouts, go in Strength and have a free dodge on burst usage, etc, etc, etc.

My warrior focuses on defense and survivability and although we don’t match guardians (their defense is overpowered) we’re easily #2 if traited for it. In fact, I find that if you have a defense/support guardian on your team and you’re a tankish warrior, you become even more survivable then him because his buffs complements your traits/health/skills awesomely.

I have to agree with that. If these events are going to be laggy, at least don’t make the monsters 2-shot things.

This is incredibly frustrating. My client never loaded another player and half to 3/4 the monsters were invisible as well. The only thing I could do is looking for blue marks on downed players and revive them until I get killed myself.

Patch: “Unblockable” skill facts??

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bearhugger.4326

Bearhugger.4326

“Unblockable” skill facts have now been added to various skills.

What exactly does that mean? If it means that skills that are unblockable are marked as such I don’t really care, but if it means that more skills are unblockable now, what kind of skills were made unblockable in this patch.

As a defense-oriented player I love playing with my blocks and it would be disappointing if anything remotely dangerous got flagged as unblockable.

Any chance we could just not get this next patch?

They really should postpone this patch until they find another way to reward the players doing the dungeon.

I’d rather have nothing to do in November then seeing power creep introduced in Guild Wars 2.

Indeed, I think everyone would be super excited about this patch if it wasn’t for the introduced power creep.

Hopefully, the radio silence from the developers is an indication that they are looking for a way out of this mess. Although I’ve been known as a wishful thinker before…

they are doing this because of constant posts with “whats point of gear i have max already” but again its not wow.

Well, yeah. Problem is that they’re now blatantly catering to WoW fans over their own fans. Most of who already left GW2 for MoP. It’s asinine.

I play both WoW and GW2, WoW mostly because I have a really great guild because I absolutely HATE having to gear my character all over again. I loved how I could log in GW2 and play at my own pace because the time I spent on getting gear would not go to waste in 3 months.

If GW2 goes ahead with power creeping I don’t really want to play it anymore, as simple as that. It’s going to be WoW without raids and without tanks/healers. (I actually liked the trinity.) And with flashier armor but you’ll have to buy fine transmutation stones every upgrade to keep the look you want.
