Don’t think the OP is asking for a full Russian adaptation, just something for chat.
I’m thinking it’s an issue with fonts and input method for whatever version of windows you are using. I do see Chinese and Korean in chat so it’s not a limitation of the game, and White Hunter showed you can type Cyrillic in some parts, but that is the “browser” window and not chat.
RIP City of Heroes
Because many will not notice the “this isn’t from ArenaNet but another player” note attached by the e-mail system.
Yes, sadly there’s been an upswing in this crap now that players are returning to the game.
RIP City of Heroes
It was also an ecto sink but that’s beside the point.
The house always wins.
For me, the ecto cost was the inhibiting factor. Ectos were going for 40s at the time so even at it’s cheapest, it was 2 gold worth of ectos plus 40 silver a spin which is to rich for my blood.

I have like tons of classes.
I can’t spend time doing the same thing for all those classes… Please consider dropping the value of hero points needed… 250 is still a lot for someone who has like 7 or 8 classes, and want to play elite spec for all of them.
Or if you make hero points; make some hero points have 50 point value worth…. but more challenging or whatever.
Don’t want to waypoint everywhere doing boring things just to play elite spec :/
They can’t drop it much below 250 or those who map completed Tyria, which is needed if you were crafting legendary weapons, could unlock them completely since that gives them just north of 210 HP.
And? They completed Tyria. That should be fair enough. O.o
Plus I’d rather have people on the Maguuma maps that are dedicated and helping to do the map events than being on a map with only heropoint jumpers because they’re FORCED to. Plus the choice whether we do HPs in Tyria OR Maguuma should be ours.
But it shouldn’t be 50 HP as Samnang suggested. The standard Specialization is 60 HP. Then you toss in the various utility, heal and elite skills the ES gets, and the skins/gear (not sure if it’s actual gear) and you are probably over 100 HP and that’s before the “elite” tax and an unlock cost because it shouldn’t be free for a new set of weapon skills and profession mechanics.

How would your rate the difference between before and after. It’s still the same content.

Define casual. I’m “casual” and 400 didn’t bother me. Probably because I play PvE and map complete every character so I needed only 190 to unlock the Elite fully. Hard core WvW and PvPers who can’t be bothered to play the core PvE game as well as Alt speed levelers, they are the ones who are screaming bloody murder. OMG they have to go and rub shoulders with PvEers and do … content.
Eeewww! Wash it off, wash it off.
So are you a hardcore casual PvE player?
No, I’m just a completionist where it comes to map rewards. And I measure casualness by hours played. I don’t play 6-8 hours a night. I’m lucky if I can play two. Sure I’m not a weekend only player or someone who can only get 1/2 an hour in at a time, but I’m casual.
RIP City of Heroes
It’s also a way to look coherent while using drops as you level up. Then when you get to level 80 you can worry about customizing the actual look of your “final” armor(s).
RIP City of Heroes
It’s simple really. What if you were one of the first players to get an eighty and they patched the game so it only takes 65% of the XP. You would be ticked too.
Those are hours they won’t get back. The content that was difficult to do because they only had a few of the elite traits and skills are now easier for everyone thus lessening their achievement even more.
Sure it’s great for the rest of us, especially for those of us that map completed core Tyria as it’s not 79% fewer HoT HPCs to unlock it all, as oppose to 38% fewer for those who never did an HPC in core Tyria.
RIP City of Heroes
Don’t forget, some move around. I think I saw a reddit thread on the subject.

Go to the bank and open the wardrobe there, select medium gloves and preview each of them until you find some … maybe.

Not really, but they, ANet, did ask not to spoil the story for others.
I know one streamer today got upset because of spoilers popping up in map chat while they were playing through the story for the first time. It’s possible that some of their followers took it upon themselves to threaten to report.
But no, reporting someone for something that isn’t in the ToS isn’t going to get them banned. But just remember that everyone can see map chat and discussions that mention spoilers within the, say first few weeks if not a month, is being considerate.
Of course if you (general you not you specifically) are “that guy” who walks out of a movie and shout spoilers at the queue, as I expect will happen with the next Star Wars film, this kind of suggestion will fall on deaf ears.

Master Volume setting on the audio panel in the game’s options not working for you?
RIP City of Heroes
Item drops are preferred over gold to keep the influx of new gold in check. Problem is as we level up blues and greens, and later yellow is about as useful as white in terms of direct usefulness. So they are just a way to drop mats we can’t gather directly. Blues and greens because yellows can drop ectos. Price of allot of “useless” gear on the TP is determined by salvage value and that is governed by crafting demand relative to drop rate.

That was the historic way to develop an MMO. Giant hamster wheels of level bumps and gating top gear behind RNG rewards in raids.

Call me surprised. GJ ANet for such a quick iteration.

It’s not the casuals who are upset. It’s the hard core speed runners who want everything now.

They are not saying. Likely sooner than later but don’t expect it as a hot fix like we’ve been seeing. Maybe when Halloween is over.
RIP City of Heroes
Players had unreasonable expectations to start with and it was left to fester because ANet barely relays information that players feel important while this was being developed.
BWE didn’t help since players who participated got to play early in the story with a fully operational Elite. If they suggested, post Traits 3.0 they sent up a trial balloon that it would take more HP than you got from just leveling your character to 80, they could have gotten a handle on this well before launch. They could have back channeled with via data mining so they could say it was simply a placeholder number.
But the devs also have somewhat unrealistic expectations. They believe their players would enjoy doing the story. Soak in the new environment. Explore the maps again and again as they can get new abilities to find new areas that you wouldn’t/couldn’t find without them.
Mark my words. The next attack will be on masteries, even though they are account and not character bound. Followed shortly by “there’s nothing to do” and “HoT isn’t worth the price” rants.
RIP City of Heroes
Duh, your right. No idea how 40 got stuck in my brain. Fixing.
Edit: I remembered it would take 40 HPCs in HoT. Somehow that got translated into 40 HP for each HPC.

(edited by Behellagh.1468)
Bad decision, just bad. Sad when a company has to listen to a handful of whiners on forums.
The rest of the hero points won’t feel half as accomplished or important, if only for the map completion.
We live in an age of social media where a few upset people can spread falsehoods that can’t amplified by liked minds and soon those who don’t know better join in.
The result is in a few weeks the conversation will change to “HoT isn’t worth the cost because I unlocked everything to quickly”.
RIP City of Heroes
250 means one HoT HP Challenge on top of full HP complete from core Tyria. For those of us who have done that in core Tyria, I like it. For those who instalevel a new character, it would now take 7 HoT HP Challenges Vs 10 if they don’t go back to core Tyria.
It’s … fairish. This was becoming a thorn, so to speak, in the side of the expansion launch. But for the love of the six Gods don’t back off the Mastery system.
Actually, you have to spend all those hero points in everything else, BEFORE you even have the chance to unlock the elite spec and start training it. So, no, it doesn’t take 7 hp challenges.
No. You get enough HP from leveling to unlock everything on your character including the original 5 specializations. So you start with 0 going into HoT if you haven’t done any HP Challenges in core Tyria. HPCs in Hot are 40 points each so 250 divided by 10 is 25.
Edit: Fixed HoT HPC reward. Some reason I thought it was 40 (I know 400 divided by 10 is 40).

OP paints something the blackest black the game offers.
Now complains it’s too black to see anything.
RIP City of Heroes
But the devs saw the Elite as a goal. They were probably expecting that if you go through the story, you would get the Elite unlocked by the time you reached the climax.
Personally instead of the 60 point unlock I would have liked to see a story element you had to do to initially unlock it. Seems strange for your Ranger to wake up one day and say “I know what I’ll do today, I’ll become a Druid”.
RIP City of Heroes
Do we know yet if already invested HP #’s will be recalculated? Or is this just a cost decrease on stuff you have not bought yet.. moving forward?
That’s why it’s not out yet. It’s not just changing a number, it’s figuring out the easiest way to handle the points spent, refund or autofill. They are simply informing us what’s coming in the hopes to fix their PR issue. Now the discussion will be between those who didn’t mind 400 and those who did, the inevitable “250 is still too high” and the question of when will this hit.
It’s a heads up that they heard the playerbase and changes are coming. Just not when.
RIP City of Heroes
250 means four HoT HP Challenge on top of full HP complete from core Tyria. For those of us who have done that in core Tyria, I like it. For those who instalevel a new character, it would now take 25 HoT HP Challenges Vs 40 if they don’t go back to core Tyria.
It’s … fairish. This was becoming a thorn, so to speak, in the side of the expansion launch. But for the love of the six Gods don’t back off the Mastery system.

Looks more like self inflicted grind to me
People want the new stuff now to play with, tinker around with until they get bored. Then demand new content immediately in that short period of time.
Arguably yes, but Anet did this to themselves when they locked Fractal and Legendary Mastery behind xp grind.
Yes, it’s called leveling. It’s just a flexible leveling system that doesn’t obsolete gear.
RIP City of Heroes
The biggest ‘nerf’ in my opinion is the one they did to the Hero Points System in Central Tyria. It goes entirely against their philosophy that they launched the game on the back of.
New Level 80 characters not being able to earn Hero Points like the rest of us have been for years once they reach level 80 is probably the biggest slap in the face. Such a completely thoughtless, and rushed system.
As a leader of a small guild with some newer players this ridiculous change is felt acutely each day, and does nothing to their enjoyment in the game, nor their opinion of ArenAnet.
And if people don’t enjoy themselves, we all know they will go somewhere else. And I certainly don’t want them leaving.
Are you talking about the extra skill points (now hero points) we got from leveling after 80, pre HoT, pre Trait 3.0 patch? We knew why they did when they rolled it out then.
RIP City of Heroes
Depends what you want. Most things are cosmetic. I’ve recently spent a bunch of gold (a bunch for me) on dyes and a little on armor skins I haven’t stumbled on yet (buying and salvaging armor just to unlock the skin). Still haven’t bought my underboob shirt (Medium T3 human armor) as 100 g is still steep from me.
RIP City of Heroes
Did you buy and activate the original game before the PAX South announcement? Did you buy HoT and activate it before the game went live? If so, you should get it within a week.
RIP City of Heroes
The game is more CPU bound and therefore faster cores, measured by single thread benchmarks, will give you better performance. Currently fastest desktop cores when measure by single thread performance are Intel, that’s all.
RIP City of Heroes
Too much gold in the economy? You could have fooled me I barely manage to have 100 gold and I haven’t even bought all the faction armor skins that I want. It’s kind of silly that some people buy legendaries with 2000 gold and then there are people like me that don’t even dream of ascended gear because of the amount of materials needed and not enough money to buy them.
GW2 is the first MMO where I just can’t make money, farming Silverwastes is something I just can’t do because it after doing it for a few times it loses all the fun.
If too much gold in the economy is a real problem (I doubt it is) Then they could just solve it in one fell swoop. They can stop selling gold.
… sigh …
They sell gold that other players used to buy gems from players who sold gems for gold. They simply act as a broker since gems are the gem shop proxy currency.
No new gold is made from thin air, other than the small amount that primed the exchange at launch.
RIP City of Heroes
Some weird thing with NCSOFT games. They had a some notable product placement of City of Heroes in the past including Captain Sweatpants’ T-shirt.
I’m guessing someone in the production plays MMO and Blizzard wouldn’t give them the time of day without a big check.

Regarding pve, the mastery/hero point system is a mess. I can get mastery points but can’t spend them without first getting a certain amount of xp?? This is just a glorified level cap increase. I thought the point of the mastery system was to be horizontal progression beyond lvl80? Forcing us to level up more is vertical progression. And you block hero points behind masteries, forcing those of us who don’t care about masteries to do meaningless grinds. Just trying to find where the hero points are on these labyrinthine maps is hard enough and what’s worse is going through the trouble of getting to a hero point and finding out we can’t do it because we don’t have a certain mastery so we gotta go back to grinding. Or the hero point is a champ. Do you really think these maps are going to be bustling with people forever?
By jove, I think you got it. Yes, we are still leveling. What did you think horizontal progression was going to cost? Ever since Trait 3.0 we knew that the XP bar would now track mastery progress and that’s how you would earn them. What they didn’t say was it would combine progress through the story/map with mastery points, sort of a super POI/Renown Heart.
But if you watch the announcement from Pax South. Colin goes out of his way to poo-poo level cap increases because it obsoletes your ultimate gear with the first trash mob drop. So we don’t get a level cap increase to keep out equipment relevant. But we are still leveling.
Same goes with the Elite Specialization. We didn’t unlock all of our healing, utility and elite skills and all the traits in a specialization at level 1. And that’s where we are all starting at (well actually 0). We had to earn them with leveling or HP challenges if we wanted them earlier. And we still have that in HoT.
We are all Level 0 again.

does it run on AMD. once bitten, twice shy.
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Gw2 like all old games is built to use only two cores since they are not designed with intention to achieve the greatest performance.
Thus, amd, which focus on number of physical cores will not able to run Gw2 as well as intel which focus on high single core performance. For amd to be on par with intel, amd users have to overclock it to achieve higher single core performance.
Wrong! Two cores is required but the game does perform much better with an actual third or fourth core (rather than HT cores of the i3 or “thread cores” of the AMD Bulldozer architecture (FX and 2nd gen and beyond A-series APUs).
RIP City of Heroes
And I can see a nerf coming for this CoF “exploit” to level masteries. And that’s the subtle option. The most extreme I would imagine is a time out and loss of mastery levels obtained by this method.
RIP City of Heroes
It’s fun, and disorienting in first person. Now I know how a pinball feels.
RIP City of Heroes
Still of the opinion BWE’s are to blame for much of the animosity and frustration, especially when used to market full price pre-purchase.
I don’t think anywhere near as many players would feel aggrieved if they hadn’t been given the full specs to play around with in the first place and had never had that taste of what the specs are like with zero effort.
Its literally stealing candy off a baby.
I’ve played a few games that do that, give you all the power early then retroactively take it away in an attempt to motivate players through content but in all honesty it just seems to annoy more players than anything.
Except it wasn’t to motivate players. BWE was to test out the elite specialization. They knew you wouldn’t be able to unlock it in the weekend and they needed all skills, all traits tried out. That’s perfectly reasonable in my book, it was testing not teasing. Because of the tests they made some substantial changes to each and are still refining them.
Now we have to work for it just as we worked for every other healing/utility and elite skill and trait line while you were leveling your profession to level 80 in core Tyria via play. HoT Mastery system is the new leveling and HP are earned via play now.
Welcome to the new Level 1.

Yes, supply has been “released” onto these top priced non gem shop dyes. Both Celestial and Abyss have seen a relatively large increase in supply. I was just curious if it was dumping for clearing inventory or raising funds or a new supply opened up. Seems to be the later.
Thank you.

It is a beautiful map. I’ll give it that.
I think we need to learn all the shortcuts around the map. To easy right now to find your self at a dead end or too high/low and need to double back.
No ruins which makes master of ruins kind of pointless.

Add this to the fact they are now GATING rewards behind Mastery’s and you still have to buy keys using gold on top of that.
Curious, why do you need keys for a Mastery?
RIP City of Heroes
I’m talking about the non-gem store dyes. They plummeted since HoT started. Not that I mine, it lets me fill out my collection cheaper. I only have a handful left to get and Celestial is down 33% since Friday.
Anything I missed?
