Yes, boot the flax farm people too. Why get the rewards forever for playing the content once. Jumping puzzles and the flax farm are cool, play the content for the reward each time.
… You do know there’s a waypoint almost smack on top of the flax farm so people would just park there instead and glide down? I think most flax farmers are ok with 5 seconds of freefall to get to the farm lol. With the aerodrome being added to LA, we’ve passed the days when people would end up getting frustrated in VB because people were waiting to get into the raid, taking up spots on the map during metas.
Crafting being removed from WvW is in the same vein. This change is in favour of WvWers as the borderlands won’t have as many PvErs going there to craft, meaning those who are serious about WvW are less subject to queues and being forced into EotM (and then taking it out on newer WvWers there). Given that Gift of Battle now requires WvW participation (blame ANet for not forcing this from the start), I can totally understand why this was done, not to mention it means that server performance in WvW will be more accurate now as people can actually get in to fight, just need to make sure you have everything ready beforehand, just like you would before going off to raids/fractals/dungeons for example.
Side note: people wouldn’t park at JPs as often if there was a more reliable way to get Silver Doubloons, just throwing that out there for the attention of John Smith.

the elitist concept is “if you want this, then spend money”
I’m a firm believer anything in GW2 should be obtainable by playing the game, and not by spending more money.
If someone has to actually buy GW1 then he is forced to spend money, that is why I am against it.
Like I said I understandthje feeling, but it is still elitism. If I buy a pair of expensive jeans, and the next week they’re on sale, am I going to be mad at the people who got them for less money/effort that I did? I don’t think so. Specially if they go on sale years after I got them in the first place.
Considering OP was talking about the skins being put in the gemstore, I don’t think money’s the issue so much as wanting to get things without the work.
Quite honestly, the only skins I ever really hear people wanting are the Fiery Dragon Sword (something like 10 HoM points) and the Fellblade (23 HoM points).
A simple solution would be if GW1 and it’s expansions were added to the gemstore in GW2. That way you could save up to buy the first game, however I’d argue that would be too great a hit to ANet’s revenue. The thing is, the items were originally meant to be a thanks to those who were there from the Searing. Hence the name ‘heritage armour’. The fact that GW1 isn’t shut down and those items are still obtainable is in ANet’s favour. I could understand people being angry if GW1 didn’t exist any more but it does and will until GW2 closes down from what I’ve read over the years. It was one reason I didn’t worry as much about not being able to transition to GW2 at launch, as much as I wanted to. I knew during those 3 years that I had items earned and AP waiting for me when I finally got the game. Considering I missed out on LS1 and had to pay for LS2 due to starting last summer, I’d say I got a fair exchange.
Rainbow Phoenix, would have been an awesome pet to have ported over to GW2. Shows that you made some nice progress in your Hall of Monuments in GW1.
Not afraid to say that I dream of the day that I can go back to my homelands of Cantha and find my rainbow phoenix again ;_; Was my hands down favourite pet other than the Black Moa (of which I preferred the GW1 design).

4 years early access and getting all free is not enough of a bonus?
Implying that all GW1 players started GW2 when it launched. There’s many who tried GW2 and went back to GW1, many like myself who started GW2 quite some time after launch.
30 HoM points are a piece of cake. That gives you all the items. The titles shouldn’t be obtainable any other way and if you want them, put in the work for them. As for the posit that
the chance that non GW1 players will pick up the game and invest tons of hours for the skins is very low, probably close to 0
I know quite a lot of people in my guild who dabble in GW1 for skins, as well as people who went back to GW1 to earn the HoM rewards. Your idea wouldn’t just be cheapening the rewards for pre-GW2 players, but also a big middle finger to those who bought GW1 after playing GW2.
tl;dr go and earn the items yourself instead of thinking that everything can be instantly obtained with a credit card.

I don’t miss the vanquishing per se (I can go back to GW1 to scratch that itch) but I do miss the difficulty of HM. Probably why I didn’t mewl and howl when HoT came out and prefer the difficulty there over the faceroll of Central Tyria. All I hope is they don’t backtrack in terms of difficulty on the new expansion.

ANET should maybe… drop Asuran nuclear bombs on all the pack players at Shadow Behemoth just standing in one spot the whole time, to teach em a lesson.
Asurans are aware that nuclear bombs would cause great permanent destruction and therefore wouldn’t consider magic that would destroy the world. We have dragons for that.
Some bosses are a challenge like Triple Trouble, the others are glorified loot pinatas because that’s the level of difficulty in Central Tyria as a whole. I liked the Shatterer rework (and would like to see more world bosses get similar makeovers; I forsee the Megadestroyer and Claw of Jormag getting buffed seeing as how they correspond to certain dragons) however the pres still hold things up because people idle. I’d say limit boss rewards to those who participate in the pre-events, however there’s people who arrive late/stumble across the boss while exploring for the first time or are doing something else entirely in the map when the boss spawns and think “Oh, well while I’m here…”. The only time it really gets irritating is if the pres aren’t being worked on at all or are taking longer than they should be because of lack of participation on them. I don’t have time to world boss train like I used to and quite honestly, I get better rewards elsewhere so this isn’t as big a deal to me in general. Only way I’d get back to regularly doing world bosses would be if more achievements/rewards were added to them which I feel would only happen with reworks of the bosses themselves. In their current form they don’t deserve any greater rewards.
Finally, can you quit with trying to push your political agenda on these forums? It’s getting boring and comes across as an attempt to brainwash. I (and others) didn’t bring the EU referendum onto the forums by inserting LEAVE or REMAIN into thread titles, so could you kindly do the courtesy of keeping your presidential election to yourself? Bad enough reading crap in map chat about it but at least I can filter that out. Make yourself better by maturing before telling others to improve themselves.

OP, im going after the legendary, and im doing it by gathering etc. Its going to take a long time and cost a fortune, but what il get out of that is an item that takes work – win for me, thats what im after in a RPG, long term goals and rewards. I could equally go ahead and buy a legendary for far less gold from the auction house – but what is the point of that!
^ this so much. I finished Nevermore last week and yeah, it took me a lot of SW farming but I really wanted the skin for my Necro. I mained one in GW1, her first gold staff was a Raven Staff so I had my heart set on Nevermore from the second I saw it. However, unlike GW1, I didn’t have to rely on RNG for a skin (or worse; getting the skin but incompatible stat requirements). I was able to craft it myself over time. It only becomes expensive/tedious if you try to rush it and the journey to get Nevermore was really enjoyable for me. I love my devoted raven sitting on my staff that I reared from a chick. I was lucky enough to get my Gift of Battle before the change to a WvW track, but I’m currently working on Twilight and after about 20 hours of EotM (with the WvW reward track tavern buff), I almost have my next Gift of Battle. And honestly (don’t care if I get hate for this), I like that I’ve had to step outside of PvE to get my next Legendary as it makes it feel a greater accomplishment and more worthy of that Legendary status. Plus it means I’m actually ranking up in WvW for my bloody autoloot.
But yeah, if you just want the stats/infusion slots, as others have said, ascended is your best option.

Actually, a referendum campaign in-game could never reach the level of insanity and dishonesty that we are seeing from both sides in RL UK politics right now. And, similarly, a story-line that mimicked the RL US election race would seem just too far-fetched to be believable. Fact sometimes are stranger than fiction…

You know, I weren’t the one that explicitly mentioned about OP having a rep rule, I also wasn’t the one that assuming the problem is with the OP’s guild like you were implying. I also weren’t the one that state not to reiterate the points already given. You were the one.
You are OP and your rep requirement was pertinent given what I was responding to regarding joining other guilds for missions, and that was the sole reason I brought it up. If you don’t want people to associate your guild with rep requirements or know what they are, maybe you should tell your main recruiter, who I see daily, to remove the “90%rep 10% bank/TTS” from their recruit message.
None of that has to do with what I’m saying though. I get English isn’t your first language but I’m really having problems trying to follow your argument now. You say that there are people who are affected by reset being on a Monday morning due to their playing times being restricted to weekends, because they might miss missions one week and then not be able to get credit for that week but under the old system they would be able to catch up the next Saturday. A minority maybe but there are some people (none of whom have spoken out in the last 8 months or in this thread). Others have pointed out that this will always be the case no matter when reset is, therefore it’s pointless to change the time of mission resets when there have been no major complaints over the last 8 months and those who were affected by the change have adapted. People have said that those affected could run with other guilds for missions if they can’t make the times that missions are for them currently, and it’s not the game’s fault that people have real life obligations. In my eyes, you’re claiming that the problem is bigger than it actually is and want everyone to be disrupted again over a problem that barely exists.
I understand your examples perfectly well hence why I said not to reiterate what you’re trying to say because I get it – I don’t appreciate being talked down to or patronised which is what you’re doing to myself and others in this thread so I’m going to leave you to it.

The point is already mentioned but you disagree with the points. What to do.
No, I just disagree there’s a serious problem that requires everyone to be kittened off again with mission reset times being changed after 8 months of it being how it is now and everyone adapting to the new schedule. No need to act condescending because people are disagreeing with you.
dragons, I sometimes wonder if we’ll ever find a way to save us from ourselves.”
Raid reset one hour earlier than GM, it isn’t the same, just the same day.
Wiki says otherwise. The Black Lion Key is an hour after Raid/Mission reset according to what I read there.
I don’t think LS3 is part of HOT development, LS3 is a separate project, isn’kitten
Pretty sure it’s been said that it will need HoT or at the least follow on from it, so I consider it part of HoT development.
EDIT – Yes, you’ll need HoT for LS3.
Personally I don’t give a hoot if you have a rep req guild or not or your reasons behind it, but if you say you don’t have anyone in your guild affected by this (and if you did, you could make rep exceptions for those who can’t make missions with you), then I’m failing to see what all the hue and cry is about. And no, I don’t need you to reiterate your points again, I just fail to see why things need to be changed again when it’s been 8 months and people have adapted to the new times without any major complaints. There’s always going to be people who miss out on things because of when they can get on; people who can only play for 2 hours who miss out on Teq/TT – do you want those bosses to spawn every hour so everyone can have a crack at them? As I said, I can tell your heart’s in the right place but if the people who would be affected by this aren’t speaking out, I don’t see why you should speak for them in absentia.

dragons, I sometimes wonder if we’ll ever find a way to save us from ourselves.”
So raid reset should stay the same and guild mission reset changes? No thanks, easier to keep both on the same reset schedule so there’s less confusion. Your heart’s in the right place but I’ve not heard any complaints in game about the current mission reset and the lack of people backing you up in this thread after 22 hours doesn’t help your case. If people have an issue with their schedules not working with their guild’s scheduled missions, it’s up to them to discuss that with their guild to see if they can be held at a time suitable for them.
You bring up the thread before this change happened: people had concerns and then adjusted. Most of the complaints I saw in that thread were about the missions of the week it was changed, not that the new reset time would spoil guild missions for them in the long term. Yes, a couple of people said they had issues but I’ve not seen them post in this thread or a great outcry over guild mission reset being an issue. My guess is people who were affected have adjusted.
Also, I wouldn’t say that HoT development was over seeing as we’ve not had LS3 drop yet, unless you know something I don’t?
You can be in up to five guilds. If your current guild can’t wait for the weekend and for you to join them on Guild Missions, why not try finding another guild? One of the larger ones, for example, where you’re more likely to land with weekend players?
OP has a rep req guild so doesn’t want their players to be able to to do that.

http://gw2dungeons.net/ has a section for fractals which will explain each one as well as telling you what instabilities there are and how much AR you need. The best thing to do is start at scale 1 and work your way through. My guild helped me get started and we’re always training new people in fractals and raids so I’m sure others do the same. Regardless, 1-20 don’t need any AR and pugs generally won’t get upset at those scales if you’re unsure of what you’re doing. Don’t be afraid to admit you’re unfamiliar with the content – people are often much nicer about it than you’d expect.

I wouldn’t say I have ‘worries’ or ‘fears’ about the next expansion (I save those for RL things), just concerns:
- Abbreviated/rushed story
- Slowness of addressing bugs, particularly those that affect major parts of the expansion (Hearts and Minds, I’m looking at you)
- More unbalanced adventures which are requirements for collections/masteries
- A repeat of the navigational nightmare that’s Tangled Depths
- Palador’s concern that they’ve not learned where they went wrong with HoT; I’d like to think they have after the April patch.
None of it keeps me awake at night but it does give me an uneasy feeling when I think about the next expansion.

I agree that the three Maguuma named regions can cause confusion. I think the problem is that renaming them now will cause more confusion, at least in the short term. Heart of Maguuma is easily identifiable as HoT maps, but Maguuma Jungle does make one think that you’d need to go into those maps too seeing as HoT is all about the jungle. Maybe Maguuma Plains would be a better name for the original Maguuma maps?

As an update: we’re still looking for new members, particularly in EU/Aus timezones. We now run EU friendly guild missions on Friday nights at 8pm UTC and raid training on Saturdays at 8pm UTC.
We’ve also now got 2 Eternal runs as a guild under our belts with our static raid group! Work has started on learning Salvation Pass although it’ll probably be on hold for a week or so after the third wing comes out as our more experienced raiders work on that with their raid focused guilds to pass the knowledge on to RIOT (and for sweet loot for themselves).

people IS dumb, generally speaking.
Not sure if deliberate or not…
I disagree on your point about commanders though. I find the more a commander treats me like the adult I am rather than the child they (possibly) are, the more likely I am to listen to them. You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar, as the saying goes. A lot of people would do well to remember that. I remember a DS meta a couple of months ago where mid’s commander wasn’t doing too well, help was offered by the other two commanders (in a polite way) and mid’s commander started trash talking and trying to flaunt his prowess at the game. Said commander then tried to claim he and his guild were the reason we succeeded at the meta. As I recall, the meta almost failed because he was so desperately overcompensating in chat because people had tried to help him out. It’s a shame that commanders like that put people off joining squads, especially when you’re trying to avoid upscaling.

As others have said, you can trade directly with other players if you have a specific buyer/seller in mind via mail. Doing so is at your own risk, though. I agree on the taxes being necessary to keep the economy in check and I don’t miss Spamadan or standing around for hours trying to sell something, even something popular like ectos/lockpicks/Zaishen coins/cons. That’s…just plain freaky. o_O (Also wasn’t even aware that there was a mini-dungeon in Caledon since it is a starter zone and all.)
It’s been a possible PvE daily since the new rotations were brought in, as well as being needed for a Legendary weapon collection or two. I had to go there for one of my Nevermore tiers and I’m pretty sure tier 1 of one of the other collections needed something collected from the end of the mini dungeon (I don’t remember which as I unlocked all tier 1 collections then did all the scavenger hunts one after the other lol). Oh, and there’s an explorer achievement for completion too

So far the only reason you’ve given for this request is for those niche players that want to get the 5% extra force depending on the day/night cycle.
I can add another: some of the Legendary weapon collections ask you to do things in places at a certain time of day.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Chase_the_Spirit_the_Settlement is one example that comes to mind, but there were a few in the tier 1 collections as well. Sometimes it’s hard to distinguish between dawn/dusk/night so a solid indicator would be handy, although for now I just use GW TacO which I like as an overlay for numerous things (map/boss timers, guild bounty routes, and Sab cannon markers to name but a few).

I posted this because I actually am getting repetitive motion strain and so I looked at all the places where this could be streamlined. I want to play the game, but without some help from Anet I am going to have to stop for health reasons.
Or you could just play less/take breaks between mass salvaging/opening if it’s truly creating or exacerbating a health condition? I have hypermobility and lipodystrophy. It hurts me to sit for long periods of time. On the other hand, it also means I take regular breaks from the game to move around and do things around the house. Now consider the 2 hour long metas in HoT – I don’t expect the game to change around my issues and some of those changes would be to the detriment of other players’ enjoyment. I can take a short break or two during a meta to loosen up my joints, make a cup of tea and get back into things without losing participation. It sucks to be sick/disabled (speaking from experience here) but sometimes you do have to adapt your behaviour to fit in with it, rather everything changes to adapt to you. I’d recommend investing in a gaming mouse if you haven’t already done so as you can bind actions to extra buttons – my mouse wheel is my action camera toggle, side button 1 is skill 1 etc.
While I’m on the subject of mouse wheels, I dug this up via Google:
This has been a problem since the launch of the game, and to my knowledge has never been responded to officially in any way. Due to this, I can only assume that they purposefully intend to make using stacks of items as painful as possible to discourage people from doing it. Maybe it’s to discourage farming, who knows (“gee, opening all those bags I farmed would be so annoying, maybe I just won’t”)?
There are, however, ways to deal with the problem without breaking the “one button, one action” rule. One option was already mentioned: bind the “click” action to the “click” of your mouse’s scroll wheel as it turns. It is physically much easier to activate that button many times than it is the left or right click buttons, and it still performs just one action per each unit of physical input (rotating the wheel a certain number of degrees). You could also bind “click” to multiple different buttons at once, such as every single key on your keyboard, and then go to town on it with both hands and your face.
I’ll also note this was before the ‘Consume All’ option was added to Essences of Luck. I’d like a similar option for Piles of Silky Sand but I doubt that’ll see the light of day.
I actually like pop up chests and, sad as it sounds, they make me feel properly rewarded as well as being a kind of checkpoint for certain stages of metas. As I have the autoloot mastery, I don’t see most of what goes into my bags. Certain things in chests like HoT keys, I like to know when I’ve got them so I can make sure I have a space in my inventory for them as they won’t go automatically into my shared inventory slots with my existing HoT keys.
Automatic ‘Deposit all’ for materials – some materials are at almost max capacity in my bank (and I’m at the 2k cap on material stack space) such as dragonite ore, bloodstone dust and increasingly, empyreal fragments. These items won’t go straight into my bank and if I’m mass salvaging from loot bags, I’d rather materials stacked up than my Craftsman bags fill up with sigils/runes. Not to mention there’s people who’d rather not have to go to a bank to retrieve the mats they’ve just gained in order to sell them. Imo this would have to be a toggleable feature.
The drop down with options is preferable over buttons to me. Why? Means more options can be added in the future without worrying about having to reposition things on the inventory every time so another button can be fitted in. You say there’s 4 options now, should ANet decide they like the ‘Salvage All’ idea, it’d be 5. ‘Open All’ for containers would make it 6. You said ‘big buttons’ as well which to me would increase the UI clutter which is overwhelming at times as it is (admittedly better now I don’t have the entire right of my screen covered with various game messages). In fact, I would guess they’d have to redesign/recode the inventory to change over to buttons from the current dropdown.
‘Open All’ – would that include the bags inside bags inside bags? If so, I could see my inventory being full in seconds with the over encumbered popup, even with my max bag slots filled with 18 slot bags. I open my champ bags in bursts of 25-30 before salvaging, green masterwork bags in bursts of about 20. Opening a stack of those bags would create the backlog you wanted to avoid with this not being automatic as your inventory would be instantly full, meaning items would be queued to be deposited in your inventory, which you’d then have to deal with immediately.
Open All on crafting material containers would be fine by me though as you’re not having so many different items entering your inventory (or the queue of items to enter your inventory) at once.
‘Salvage All’ – wouldn’t actually mind that but I find I don’t tend to get enough salvage items for this to really be a problem.
Mystic Forge – I’m interested to see what’s coming in the pipeline with the update to this. I’m hoping it’ll be streamlined in a few ways along with the ability to load up the items from your bank and material storage.
I would like to not have to open Fractal Encryptions twice. The Cracked Encryption serves no purpose for the player.
Seconded.

You could review which guilds are actually fulfilling your needs and leave one that isn’t to get a free slot. Do you need server AND WvW guilds for example? Do you need a guild to do world bosses when there’s timers up on multiple sites (and apps)? If you can’t leave any of the guilds you’re currently in, then you’re crap out of luck. I’d suggest swapping your PvE guild to a PvE guild that does raids or encourage that activity in the guild yourself if you’re that attached to all the people in all 5 guilds.

My main guild is set so that you can deposit and then you have to ask a higher level to remove it for you. We have a “you can have anything you can see” tab and a “for scribes” tab and a “for guild rewards” tab. Guild rewards are for guild fun events like hide and seek, quizzes, lottery etc. I’m also impressed when I see some of the stuff in there, it does go a long way to setting the tone of a guild.
Now showing this post to one of my officers who crammed 11 Impalers in the raffle tab because ’It’s been a while since we had any in there’… At least it wasn’t clam cakes this time.
The voice chat issues only arise if you have a leadership that totally ignores guild chat. In my main guild, all 3 leaders and both co-leaders use voice chat on a daily basis. Sometimes to chill, sometimes to do content, sometimes to do organised content. None of us ignore guild chat without being in raids/ranked, in which case someone else is on keeping an eye on guild chat. Members help each other out too as they’re aware that’s what we’re looking for in members and that ranks are tied to helpfulness as well as any positive attributes you might have. So yeah, I guess we have the social aspect of TS there with it only being required for raids/missions to listen in on what we’re doing when it gets too sticky to type, especially if you’re a new player. I see that as beneficial for both sides.
My guild’s been around for almost 11 years total, we’ve had our ups and downs, but it’s how you learn and adapt that makes a guild last. A lot of it is down to leadership, but the more you want your guild to succeed, the more work you need to put into it. It’s perfectly possible without any rep requirement, although I’m sad they’ve made repping do so little now in comparison. On the other hand, it’s taken pressure off people to stay in guilds they weren’t 100% happy with.
You only need to join 1 good one, do your homework instead of just joining random, awful guilds.
Amen. Don’t forget you can even check on the guilds you see recruiting in map chat with Google if they have a site like they claimed in their ad. Just remember that just as not everyone uses these forums, not everyone in a guild necessarily uses their forums either and it could be they’re a lot more active in game than their website might make them appear.

if you ask people for mandatory rep you are looked at as an kitten for demanding that but if you dont and have a guild full of people not repping or giving a kitten how can you grow the guild.
You grow a guild by helping the members advance their playing skills. Teaching them new things inspires loyalty and the more loyal a member, the more likely they are to rep of their own free will. You can do that without demanding rep from someone.

I always wonder if people who complain about Mesmers portalling for daily JPs also complain about people who let others farm their home instances for the forager/miner/lumberer dailies. Do they want guild hall nodes removed as well because you can do the HoT gatherer dailies in there? Or maybe they want every easy vista in the game moved because it’s ‘too easy’ otherwise? Do they complain about people who ask ‘events?’ in map chat because they don’t know/can’t be bothered to disable their personal stories so they can see where the events are themselves, turning map chat into a bizarre chorus of Finding Nemo seagulls?

If they sold them as skins rather than actual items, they might sell more.
I completely agree on this. I’d have bought the Cosmic tool if that was the case but I refuse to swap from my Watchwork pick as it gives me sprockets.

I’ve had to add in the -32 myself. I initially had no problems with the 64 bit client until an AB meta when I ended up in single digit FPS. I do feel it should have been an optional thing.
If you are using a laptop read this

I’m not. I currently have an AMD Radeon HD 5670. I currently have 4 GB RAM which is most likely where the problem lies. However, with the 32 bit client I wasn’t running into any issues, including DCs etc that other people were experiencing. For now I’ve swapped back to that and I’ll be upgrading my RAM in a couple of weeks when I can afford to as I’m not funded by the bank of mum and dad like a lot of people are. The issue I have is that ANet assumed the ‘conditions were favourable’ for the 64 bit client when in actual fact, they weren’t. I would have preferred a prompt that I could have cancelled, not a decision automatically made for me which turned out to be the wrong one.

Lets not derail this, the issue that this is about is being AFK while your pets + Auto-loot are active. Intentionally = Suspension, but what about unintentionally?
I’d like to think the GMs are savvy enough to know when someone’s doing it intentionally and when someone isn’t; I know as an ex-GM myself in a couple of other games that you’re generally given good guidelines on what is and isn’t acceptable behaviour so even if you don’t play the game yourself, you know what is and isn’t ‘normal’ player behaviour. From what Chris said, they’re generous with how long they give players to respond so I highly doubt most of the bans handed out so far are for people who have gone to the toilet etc. Of course, you always get guilty people who will protest their innocence, sometimes in the face of evidence that shows them not just red-handed, but red all over.
And if you DO have to afk, pop to the guild hall or a safe spot as said earlier. If it’s an emergency and you don’t do that, I still find it unlikely you’ll be banned as your behaviour will differ to that of an afk farmer.

Just had the same issue in Auric Basin’s meta. Never had these issues with the 32 bit client.

I like how news of the events is spreading via word of mouth, like actual news would spread in Tyria. That said, I guess a lot of people might miss out on these events as there’s not more information.
The events themselves remind me of War in Kryta/Shining Blade Wanted bounties and the War Supplies are a nice little nod to that. A bit salty I didn’t get Amalgamated Gemstones from mine but eh, I can live without them for now. The mastery experience rewards are nice for those who aren’t maxed out but useless for myself, an option to choose that or karma would have been nice. Again, I’ll live as I’m someone who likes playing new content (particularly lore based) because it’s there, not necessarily for the rewards.

character slots are kind of a fundamental game thing -
You make it sound like you only get a single character slot. You don’t. Even free to play accounts have two slots. If you want more than 5 characters, I think it’s only fair that you pay for the extra slots. I did as did many others. I would argue bag slots are more of a fundamental game thing but we’re still charged for the ‘extra’ ones that don’t come with the account. No charge on character slots would be ridiculous and a business has to pay the bills. I don’t see what’s stopping you from putting real money into the game if you dislike the current gold > gem conversion rate, especially if you enjoy the game as much as you claim you do.
Also, 5 characters with 5x 20 slot bags = 500 storage slots. 50 characters with 5x 20 slot bags = 5000 storage slots. What would be the point of the bank/material storage tabs if we could just lump everything on alt characters? ANet would lose out on money there too. Not to mention the problems with the economy due to people being more able to hoard the crap out of stuff. At least if you want to do that as things are now, you have to pay for the ability to do so.

even if it has been shown that chat-only TT attempts succeed on a daily basis.
Fixed that for you
However, the point is TS is pretty much required.
It’s really not. Post Reset TT on NA shows daily that it’s not required.
I personally see TTS’ TS req for TT (wow that’s a tongue twister) in the same light as 100% rep guilds: not necessary but it’s their choice to have that requirement which I personally don’t wish to adhere to, and have done/will do the content without by joining other groups who don’t ask it of me.

You’re asking for a non-cosmetic advantage that expects not only the purhchase of, but a significant amount of time investment in another title.
You’re also asking for heroes, which aren’t present anywhere in GW2 for good reason. They’re a bad idea in a game built largely around organic grouping rather than GW1’s extremely rigid combat role system.
The way GWAMM integrates with GW2 already is fine. The cosmetics are the result of what could easily be considered “GW1 veteran” status, even if you weren’t a hardcore title junkie. The GWAMM title track grants the appropriate titles.
These are cosmetic unlocks, as cosmetics are the only appropriate rewards to carry from one title to the next.
Effort spent in GW1 does not and should not equate to mechanical power in GW2. That’s basically telling new players to uninstall and go play GW1, a game they may not even enjoy, or end up a second class citizen in GW2.
^ this x1,000
I have a GWAMM myself and I’m against this. I moved to GW2 last year because the grind for another GWAMM in a dead game was pretty much soulless. I feel for those who go back to get them now because they want the title or the AP/skins from the HoM.
If heroes were to be added, GWAMM should not be a pre-requisite. Not to mention what would you do if someone’s GWAMM was a monk/ritualist/paragon/dervish? I mean ok in theory they could do a Kieran and magically change profession, but that doesn’t seem quite right, not to mention it’s a lot of work on ANet’s end to code all this stuff. I’d rather the development time went into new fractals, legendaries, story and new areas than extending my kitten. An endeavour of this scale would eat up a lot of dev time which would be beneficial for a very small minority of the player base.
I loved heroes, don’t get me wrong. I just don’t feel they really have a place in GW2. If down the line ANet introduces heroes/henchies for dungeons, then fair enough. I don’t see that happening for many years though and it shouldn’t be gated by what you achieved in the previous title.

Is it per character or account though?
Per account.

And you’re welcome to keep bringing up GW1, but to me, GW1 is a different game, and from a different era. In this era, we have GW2, and this way. You’re almost going the “But when I was young, we had to walk to school in the snow” comments. Why does a different game’s concept have to be brought into GW2. Doesn’t matter if one is the descendant of the other. They are separate games. GW2 is not a DLC of GW1.
No kitten, Sherlock! It was brought up to illustrate the point of having done things the hard way myself with others shortcutting before in the franchise seeing as I’ve only been playing the sequel for the last 9 months. So no, this isn’t a case of wanting people to have as much work as I had. The point is that the games are both made by the same developer and this is the sequel of the first, whether you’ve played it or not. I don’t feel as challenged by GW2 as I did with the first game. Some of it was onerous and yes, I prefer this style of map completion. However, I feel a lot of aspects of the game have been ‘dumbed down’, making me feel less challenged. I feel that’s a salient point when I’m saying ‘how much easier do you want map completion to be in GW2 when it’s already incredibly simple and not as time consuming as these guys have made it before?’
I’ve played games with similar ‘shortcuts’ to rewards for cash and it never ends well. I’ve said I’m fine with the Lv 80 boost WP unlocks as they make sense, not that I want them removed as it’s unfair. I’d also be ok with Khaini’s idea which if you really want to stimulate map populations would be a better, fairer and free way to go about it. Straight up buying access to all WPs with gems though? No, I don’t agree with that.
