Well considering right now there are no exclusive PvP skins (sorry, the PvP legendary Backpack is actually an item, you said skins!).

In my eyes it is a unique skin, just as the Fractal Legendary Backpack is a unique skin. To me this isn’t about being a special snowflake; I’ve done 100% map completion twice in GW2. Not done it more than twice in my 9 months of playing because I simply haven’t wanted to or seen the point given I’m not actively making legendary weapons and have a decent amount of transmutation charges. However, despite not having full map comp on all my characters, the majority of them have most waypoints unlocked from levelling.
In GW1 I did Legendary Cartographer without TexMod on my first attempt (guild leader bet me I couldn’t), used it on my subsequent mapping and didn’t deride those who used it.
To me, map completion has already been simplified in this franchise as has fast travel. Do we really need to make it even easier? If an item to unlock WPs was added for purchase without people getting nerfed/no map completion rewards, you’re looking at pay to win. Can we please not send this game further in that direction a lá Nexon? Just to clarify, I’m fine with the select waypoints unlocked with the Lv 80 boost as they make sense and it’s a one time thing per account.

Bellatrix,

I am not that good at quoting to go through and sort your quotes. My frustrated tears were not because of a greatsword, how condescending of you to say that, my tears were because I’d invested so many hours and a lot of money in this game and the endgame content was gated behind tasks I couldn’t do, not because I suck, or because I was lazy, but because my computer graphics couldn’t do the game after I had been told that they could when I bought it months before. My point was not about nerfing the achievements. It is about significant portions of endgame content gated behind tasks that require jumping or flying with precision. I belong to an all woman’s group. There is a significant proportion of these players that can’t do jumping puzzles because their PC won’t support it. They just don’t get the achievements because they can’t afford a new PC.

I didn’t get this game for 3 years because I had nothing I could run it on despite dropping £500 on a new laptop just before the test your system for GW2 app was launched. Sucked but that’s life. I don’t see what an ‘all woman’s group’ has to do with that but ok. Your reaction isn’t one I would have personally have had Ophelia, but each to their own. I thought I made that clear in my first post but to me, it seems an overreaction.

I can make 2 gold in a very short amount of time in this game doing something I like, why would I waste valuable time on something I hate? Something I fail at? My PC still needs a CPU, it is significantly better, but it still isn’t up to adventures. I don’t like to do things I am not good at and have no prayer of being good at.

So don’t. Or continue to try and improve so you can do it. Or save the frustration until you’ve got a rig that can handle adventures.

I have accepted the fact that I have to do jumping puzzles to get this. I will say that the frustration of doing these tasks has led to me saying out loud “I hate this(insert expletive) game” repeatedly while I am doing stuff I literally hate. The more content that they add that I don’t want to do, the less likely I am to invest my time in this game, give them money in the gem store, buy an expansion. I am not alone in this.

Then why not ask people for help with what you’re finding problems with? I know that if I was having struggles with a JP (such as the one in Verdant Brink above the canopy for an insight), I can ask at least one guildie to help me out. You’re not being held at gunpoint to do the content, just that if you want x item you have to do y activity but you’re not alone in trying to do y activity as the game’s not a single player. There are means of getting Legendary weapons that don’t require doing JPs for collections. They might not be the ones you want or how you want to get your legendary, but they exist. The JPs that are required for map completion you can be portaled through by a guildie/friend. Likewise the LS2 achieve (I was too stubborn to ask for help on that) that I struggled with for hours.

I am actively looking for guilds to do fractals with. Again, condescending attitude on your part, there are lots of people in this universe that have social anxiety and putting up with negative people causes them anxiety issues, particularly when trying to do a new task. I don’t have social anxiety, but I have compassion for those who do. This is also something that comes up in a GW2 group I belong to on facebook. Personally, I just don’t tolerate jerks. I block them and move on in map chat. Like I said, I have tried pugging fractals repeatedly for dailies, why subject myself to the jerks that are a huge proportion of pug dailies?

I’m sorry you saw it as condescending, but it was just a suggestion which you have reacted incredibly strongly to. I don’t understand that as I wasn’t a kitten to you, but hey, to each their own.

Basically, gating huge portions of content behind jumping puzzles is a recipe to having a game people fail at.

Yes, but that hasn’t been done, has it? If HoT’s story was a JP per chapter, I’d say you have a point. Dry Top was one huge JP, but the whole of LS2 wasn’t about JPs. Most of it wasn’t, actually. As I said about legendaries, there’s ways to get them without JPs, raids don’t require any JPs, fractals require minor jumping in a couple of them (Cliffside has been changed to require less fiddly vertical ascension)… but that’s a far cry from ‘huge portions of content’ which is the point I’m trying to make. I’m sorry you found my suggestions to make things easier on yourself so offensive and that I’m not a mind reader who knew all the personal information that you espoused in your subsequent posts.

[NA][DB][PvX]RIOT is LF EU/Aus players!

Bellatrixa.3546

Righteous Idiots Order Tacos [RIOT] has been around since 2005 and has players in multiple games including GW1. We’re a PvX focused guild that teaches dungeons, fractals and raids. We also have people who PvP so there’s a good chance of getting a team during league. In terms of WvW, we have people on various servers but quite a lot of us are based on Dragonbrand and are looking to expand WvW activity as well. Most of our players are in NA but we’re looking to increase our activity in other timezones with a healthy number of EU players already existing in the roster. The more of you guys we have, the more we can schedule events in other timezones as we have more people to host them for! Currently we have the most activity in the EST timezone and although we have a desire for more players in certain timezones, we’ll still let you join no matter where you are.

We have raid training twice a week (Thursday and Saturday) with a more experienced group run once a week (Monday night). We are not and do not plan on being a raid focused guild but we are happy to run and teach raids alongside the other content we do. As a guild, we have cleared Spirit Vale (including an Eternal run) and will be moving on to learning Salvation Pass in the near future.

We use TS3 and although speaking isn’t mandatory, we require presence on TS for raids and listening in on missions, especially if it’s your first time doing them as we explain what to do over voice comms. From time to time we also hold guild karaoke nights on TS! Guild meetings are weekly with missions twice a week an hour after reset (Tuesday and Friday nights) with lotteries. We don’t require that you sign up to our site and forums, but often information is posted there as reminders/announcements as well as guides to help out our players. If you want to raid with us, we do ask you to read a single post on the forums which explains how we conduct raids, how we will help you and what we expect from you.

Our guild hall is currently Lv 48 with a current GW2 member base of 350+. We have no rep requirements other than when you’re doing content with us, you rep us. We understand that different guilds cater to different aspects of the game so we have no issues with you being in multiple guilds.

We strive to remain as drama free as possible but we don’t heavily police guild chat. We’re an 18+ guild for the most part and as such, we expect people not to get offended by the odd swear or mature topics. The only stipulation we have is ’don’t be a kitten’ which has worked pretty well for the last decade and all our officers are approachable about any issues or questions you might have.

What we look for in members:

  • Active
  • Friendly
  • Willing to learn/be patient with those learning
  • Able to listen
  • Any level of experience

If you would like more information or an invite, please don’t hesitate to send me a mail/PM either here or in game.

Even if you have the WP, you would still need to do the same boring heart you have done over 5 times.

Stupid question maybe but… If you (or anyone) finds map completion tedious, why do it more than once? Or take greater breaks between map completion on characters so it doesn’t seem as tedious?
If such an item were to be added, I’d say that instead of unlocking all WPs for the whole account, it unlocks those from your character with the most WPs unlocked for one character. Once you’ve applied that to one character, it can never get 100% map completion as it would be buying a shortcut. And yes, I consider buying ~25% of map completion a shortcut. You could purchase the item per character but I don’t agree with instant WP access for all your characters just because one has been everywhere. Also, the money you’re making from farming at the moment with this waypoint restriction wouldn’t necessarily increase if you had more characters able to farm more spots. Because other people would have exactly the same thing.

Why the unrelenting pressure to do JPs?

I literally cried because I couldn’t get silver in Fallen Masks and attain my Reaper’s achievement collection.

Seems an extreme reaction over an ascended greatsword to me but everyone’s different I guess. I was frustrated with that too but after a small rant in guild chat, someone suggested I try doing my adventures on my Druid, with Natural Stride traited. I got my silver in Fallen Masks after 2 attempts on my Druid (plus countless on my Necro), then a couple of weeks later they lowered the requirement to Bronze. I’m not even mad, got a mastery point out of it that I wouldn’t have otherwise have shot for. But that right there is an example of ANet lowering the bar for those who don’t enjoy JPs to access content (plus the time limit changes on various adventures) that I don’t think had been intentionally gated like that. A lot of things were screwy with HoT in terms of balance, hence the massive patch we just had to fix so many issues with it. Thing is, there are adventures out there which don’t require any jumping at all; it was coincidence that the Reaper collection adventure happened to be JP heavy which was unfortunate for both of us and anyone else who doesn’t like JPs. I found Sanctum Scramble much more of a brain ache and I’ll admit I got that after the requirement was changed to Bronze with 0 shame.

I am not accusing you of saying this, but there is this pervasive attitude in this thread that people are just lazy or want shinies without effort. If those people put a fraction of the effort I had to put in to get map completion, they would be complaining too.And we all like shinies, even the people that claim that those of us hating these puzzles don’t deserve them. I have harvested all of the wood for my Nevermore, saved all the tier 6 mats, worked my butt off for it. I think it is really lousy that some people commenting here think that doing an activity that they enjoy is somehow “effort”.

Eh, I think given the now 2g reward, dailies are fine with the JPs thrown in. Had they not been, I’d have said that 2g was a bit crazy for looking at a vista, chopping down a couple of trees and throwing 4 minor sigils in the forge. In terms of making Legendaries, the collections will take you all over the game as per their intent – because it’s a Legendary journey to get your item. It’s why I can understand the JP/fractal requirements in those collections and don’t see them as coercion to do JPs. With HoT spec weapons, they wanted to show all facets of HoT off hence adventures being included along with items bought from each map currency and drops from various mobs. The problem is that if you want a certain reward, you have to do the relevant content. It’s not always going to be content that you like so you can either do it and get your item, or not get your item and complain about not getting your item. I find the former approach is more likely to develop my skills with the game so I find future similar things less of a trial. First time I did guild missions I’d been playing about 2 weeks. I hated it. 9 months on I’ve understood how most of the missions work and enjoy teaching them to new people because after much practice, I know how to do them now.

The thread isn’t about Dailies, it is about the jp creep into every aspect of this game. And if you get a Daily rotation with a JP, a Daily Activity, and an Adventure, you might as well not have any option. I won’t do a fractal daily, I tried that once, I do not know fractals and people who do them for Dailies are impatient with newbies. WvW is confusing to me, and PvP seems to be a really nasty place, I have heard they treat newbies like garbage.

But as I said, if you’re happy to press F for one daily, why not for another? You’re doing the same thing for JPs and vistas, only a mesmer is more likely to help you with the former. I see it as a perfect chance to get the JP achieves that I don’t have (surprisingly have done just over half of them now), then go back on my Mesmer to pay it forward to others. I didn’t do fractals for a couple of months when I started playing but I’ll tell you that the pugs I have done it with have mostly been fine and more clueless than I am. Fractals would also help with your gold making but it’s your choice if you want to let some idiots ruin the game for you by you feeling that you ’can’t’ do certain content. You say you don’t know fractals so maybe try a guild (as you can join up to 5 at once) that does and is willing to teach? Such guilds exist, we teach dungeons, fractals and raids in ours as well as PvP. Yes, PvP can have some kittenbags in it but so can PvE as I’ve seen on more Tequatl maps when things have messed up than I care to remember.

As I said, I’m not seeing a pressure to do JPs, just content that involves jumping has accumulated over the years so when you look at it all at once, I guess it would seem like a bit of ‘pressure’. As soon as HoT dropped, I was relieved to see that only one MP was gated behind a JP. One that’s now insanely easy with gliding in Central Tyria.

Suggestion: Option to quit GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bellatrixa.3546

Bellatrixa.3546

I was looking at the forums and keep seeing posts like good bye GW2 I am quitting the game. I also saw recently someone asking about purging names from inactive accounts.

One way to fix that is add an option that the player can use that will let them actually quit GW2, but not affect GW if their accounts are linked.

Yes, usually people throwing a tantrum because ANet haven’t done what they want to the letter/the game’s not for them, and the latter because some people get so frustrated at their lack of creativity with making up new character names (which really isn’t that hard as has been stated by multiple people in the relevant threads).

I don’t see how deleting people’s accounts is going to fix either of those issues. I remember taking a break from GW1 after my first year of playing as I was burned out from getting GWAMM. I was gone for 2 years and boy, I would have been kittened off had I had to pay out again for all the character slots, bank tabs, outfits and unlock packs I bought. In fact, if I knew a game had a policy of deleting all my stuff after 6 months/1 year, I wouldn’t play it to begin with. Not because I’m in the habit of taking breaks from games, just that if something in life cropped up meaning that I had to take a break for an indefinite amount of time, I want to lose only my friends list, not everything I’ve worked for and bought. Having it happen when a game closes down is bad enough but it happens. Having it happen because some people are creatively constipated is quite another.

I figure if I do the Dailies I hate I am telling anet they are okay. If all of us avoided Dailies we hate, we’d stop getting them.

We’d probably stop getting dailies full stop because no one was doing them :P

I’m no fan of JPs, something that stems for years before I started playing GW2. I got so frustrated at crappy ones where half the coded platform was invisible and vice versa that I had my childhood of playing 16 bit platformer games ripped up, burnt and scattered across the Pacific Ocean. The first couple of JPs I tried I instantly hated. When I started working on my Legendary weapons, I found there were some tied to those. ‘Eh, these aren’t so bad, I guess they selected the easiest ones’. Once I completed all the tier 1 Legendary scavenger hunts, I tried out a couple of JPs just to see how I fared. For me, I don’t do them well if I’m a) timed or b) surrounded by a crapton of people. Halloween and Wintersday can go fornicate with themselves for their respective hellmode (for me) JPs.

Thing is, even though I dislike JPs, I’m happy to see them as a daily. With daily fractal rewards having their own tab, there was no need to have them reward you again. I’m not nuts about daily event completer, but it’s not so bad if the map has decent rewards that week or I’ll be there for something (Teq/TT/map completion) anyway. Daily bosses mostly consist of getting somewhere to hit 1 (until it dies if the mood takes you to click for that long). The gathering/vista ones? 99% of the time they don’t require much effort past stepping into your home instance or a town. So why not let JPs reward you for pressing F in a different location if someone else is kind enough to let you do so? Not everyone cheeses (and sometimes no mesmers are around!), some people like the nudge to try something new. I don’t think there’s a conspiracy behind increasing jump based content, it’s just something that seems large based on the almost 4 years the game’s been out. Legendary weapon collections came out in what, October? No idea when Dry Top was introduced but I know it was before August last year (and yes, I hate that map with a passion). SAB was a good idea for an annual April Fools event, just so happened the patch hit after that with JPs added to dailies. Now if they shoehorn a JP into raids, then you might have a point

Plus ya know, this is semi revenge for all of us who complained about not being able to jump in GW1. I think the Zephyr’s Leap JP in Dry Top was overkill though. Despite repeated video watches… GAH!

I always wonder what name people wish they had when these topics come up! Usually it’s something like Gandalf or John Snow (why people are wanting to name their character after a British newsreader I’ll never know, but it seems popular!)

Well, he was on that Channel 4 news documentary having a toke in the name of science. I’d name a character after him for that if I could

On the topic of a name purge, do not want, will not happen as others have already stated.

No i did not want to mean that, i did want to mean that if my group does with 4 minutes left on the clock, and they did the kill with green gear, the DPS Check has a large margi, so you don’t need to use meta gear to kill the raid boss.

So what would make you happy. We can clear the raid with 6 players, we can clear it with garbage gear, we can clear it with almost half the time remaining on the timer. That doesn’t prove that average pug can clear it the same way, but it prove that you have a lot of room for error, for less good build or less good rotation.

Like I said to most of the new raider in my group. I rather that you drop your weapons altogether and focus on surviving and complete the mechanics before you even think about your dps. The dps race doesn’t matter, your rotation doesn’t matter. If your group can do all the mechanics and survive you already did 80% of the work. You doesn’t need to be exceptional or spend thousand of hour in the game.

In my raiding group we have parent of 3 kids, we have players that are not that good, we have players that raid once each 2 weeks, we have players that have little idea of what is good or not in their build and they were all able to kill most bosses.

The difficult part of raid is to organize it and to put the effort to master the mechanics.

What you and your groups can do isn’t indicative of all raiders, existing and potentially new though. That was my point. What’s not to like about a way for people to get better gear and better themselves while you still get the same rewards and prestige you do now? My suggestion wouldn’t detract from your raid experience other than a hit to the superiority complex should you have one (not saying you personally do). It would help people gain that experience that you rightly claim they need. Also kids aren’t the best indicator of handicap by a long shot; one of my old guild leaders had 5 kids and yet could run every role in every GW1 speed clear. That’s not typical, that’s being a good player with childcare assistance. What I’m suggesting is an aide in organisation and learning of mechanics that could be stopping players, existing or future, from joining your group in being raid knowledgeable and competent.

When ANet added 8 heroes to GW1, I didn’t complain that people would be able to do content easier than I just had. Because how they were able to complete content had absolutely no affect on me. If anything it increased the ability of some people as they were unable to tackle content they hadn’t before. Those of us who already had become skilled, were able to just pull off more crazy stuff. The same would be true of raids if a ‘beginner’ mode were added.

Bellatrixa.3546

People did clear the first wing in green gear, the DPS check IS SUPER EASY, my “Meta group” Kill VG with 4 minutes on the clock, so you don’t need meta gear at all.

And how long had those people put into raids? Just because a small number of players has elevated themselves to that level, doesn’t mean that players new to raids can instantly do that (or want to). Anyone who’s messed around in similar ways knows that they didn’t pull off novelty or fast runs without knowing the content inside and out first or without being exceptionally well skilled to begin with. The rate at which they learned to do that can vary and I would put money on those being able to clear the raid in sub par gear not having done so on their first time in raids. What you’re saying is that anyone who can clear the raid now is able to do it in greens and we all know that’s not the case. Can you personally do it? If not, don’t judge others by something you can’t personally do and realise that everyone else isn’t you.

How to make raid fights more accessible

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Bellatrixa.3546

Bellatrixa.3546

Seeing Ohoni’s posted in this thread has instantly made me ignore most posts (sorry).

I was going to post and say that I’ve been saying for a while that a ‘training’ mode for raids would be great – no enrage timer, nerfed rewards compared to the version we have now. That way people could still (slowly) earn their ascended trinkets and stuff while learning the mechanics of the raid bosses so they can then progress to the current raid version. Giving them the option to earn the ascended trinkets means they will be better geared to take on the raid proper. I’d even go as far as to say that Magnetite Shards should be the only reward given from that version of the raid.
This is coming from someone who used to do speed clears in GW1 in elite content (regularly doing 15-17 min FoWs, I might add so there’s some clarification on ability for those who care), not someone who wants all of GW2 to be a glorified Farmville like Central Tyria currently is. All ‘elite’ content in GW1 (UW/FoW/DoA) had a Normal and Hard mode. It made it easy to get used to an area’s layout/mechanics before removing the training wheels and going for rewards. Some people would just play through once in normal mode for the lore, which is another reason some people feel raids in GW2 are gating them from content, not just from rewards. Sort of like how low scale fractals prepare you for high scale ones – by the time you reach those you already know what you’re meant to be doing in terms of mechanics. I see no problem in this approach with raids – it saves the sanctity and prestige for those who are hardcore while allowing those who are less able to learn an option to access the content with less frustration from inexperienced people. Much like how certain rewards in SAB could only come from Trib Mode.

I’ve cleared VG a couple of times, come close on Gors a couple of times too. I don’t pug because I’m too old to put up with hormonal teenage raging and ‘git gud’ being thrown at me when I’m learning. The whole point of learning is to ‘git gud’ and I’d rather see someone be constructive with how I should improve in a way that will actually help me than toss out an overused bad meme for the sole purpose of making their kitten that tiny pixel bigger. Some people learn things faster than others and I honestly don’t get why people should be put down for learning things slower. I guess you must really hate yourself in order to crap on others to make yourself feel better.

My guild is currently restricted in when we can organise runs due to the availability of our leader who’s also in a raid guild. The only time he organises guild raid runs is once a week at 2am my time, meaning I’m usually awake until 5am learning a raid while trying to stay awake. Join a raid specific guild, you say? Well, I’ve yet to see one active in EU timezones on NA and I’d want the guarantee that they’d be willing to train people up for raids, not expect them to know everything offhand. My guild’s raid group is slowly forming past the leader so I know in the future runs will be possible for me, it’s just taking a lot of time which is frustrating because I want to learn and have fun. I don’t want things handed to me on a plate, just better tools so I can work towards things myself. Yes, I know LS3 is coming at an unspecified time in Q3, but that’s further gating for players. Personally I think if Jeweller 500 was a thing with ascended trinkets and accessories being able to be crafted instead of the clusterkitten it is now (which is a pain to explain to new players too), this would be far less of an issue as ascended stats allow that wiggle room for people to be less than perfect with their rotations.

I love Blaeys’ idea as well in all honesty, but I know some people like the enrage timers as they are and feel their removal would detract from the raid’s mechanics. I do wish raids had been implemented Blaeys’ way from the beginning, but I’d rather see a timerless version just for beginners added than upset the existing raid community who would rightly see it as more of a nerf than my suggestion.

So let’s imagine that you had crafted 15-20 legendary weapons, most of the money spent from your credit card, real life money because you didn’t liked to grind/didn’t had the time for it, and felt it was nice to support a game you liked.
Then all of a sudden Anet decide that legendaries now can be bought for 1 gold each from a vendor. How would that make you feel?

Like I needed to reassess my spending priorities.

My guild has had many discussions about Scribing since HoT launched, we felt from the get go that the prices were too exorbitant and that we would wait until things shook down in terms of price. As soon as we heard ANet admit that mistakes had been made, we put scribing on hold barring a couple or three of us hitting Level 50 for sandpaper for guild hall upgrades. We have some basic guild decorations in the hall but mostly those tokens from bosses and events so the ‘guild hall would be bare’ argument doesn’t wash. There were plenty of chances to make cheap decorations that look good without 400 scribe. If you went for 400 scribe, you felt it was worth the cost at the time. If you didn’t, why should ANet refund you for a bad decision that you chose to make?

I’ve bought a few things from the gem store to have them go on a discounted sale a week or two later. Have I asked for refunds? No, I’ve sucked it up and put it down to bad timing because that’s all it is. I chose to buy those items when I did, not wait until they went on sale, therefore ANet owes me nothing.

At the end of the day, if you don’t feel something is worth the cost, you don’t buy it. Likewise if you can’t afford something, you don’t buy on credit with inflated interest rates where it’s going to smack you in the wallet IRL. You chose to do one or both those things, and it’s not the fault of ANet that you weren’t more prudent with your money. It’s yours.

Edit -

The 500 gold hedge as seen on the picture here. Never enjoyed anything so much in my life. Was worth all the effort.

So it was worth the cost at the time for you. Why the heck should you get a refund then?

I thought the title of this thread was an exaggeration to try and put a band-aid over the gaping wound some saw left by the Legendary suspension. After reading through the patch notes, I’m happy to say I was wrong to be so cynical. I’m sure there will be plenty of people nit picking minor details but I won’t be one of them and I have to say thank you for this patch. So far everyone in my guild is over the moon, as am I

Do you get abuse when Commanding?

Bellatrixa.3546

The internet is pretty much the worst thing to happen to humans, atrocities and disasters aside. I feel bad for anyone born after about 1985. Never got to experience nice people.

I’d say after about 1990, actually. I was born in 1985 and I’m having to remind myself daily that there’s millions of people who didn’t have an internet free childhood like I did where you actually had to be held accountable for what you said to people as you couldn’t hide behind a screen while doing it. When I left 6th Form in 2002, computers were only just starting to be used to type up coursework with teachers suggesting that we look the odd thing up online.

Back on topic though, I don’t avoid commanding so I don’t get crap from people, I just avoid popping my tag for metas that I don’t know very well (not saying you don’t know DS, OP, it’s clear from your post that you do). I was in DS last night and we had a good run until Mordy got down to 1% health or so after two burns, then everyone tried to go for that last 1%, mass wipe, map couldn’t recover and we failed. Second time in a week that’s happened to me. I didn’t give my commanders crap but there was a lot of salt in map chat. The mob mentality takes over, then gets angry with itself.

To me, as long as the meta succeeded, who the hell cares how clean the run was as long as people learn from it? There’s always going to be new people, the number of which will vary from one event attempt to the other. To this day I’ve still not done Nuhoch Lane in TD because I worry about causing the whole meta to fail as I’ve never done it before. I don’t tag up in HoT because I don’t want to lead people astray and then be accused of everything under the sun from being ‘bad’ at the game to having performed indecent acts on their mother’s sister’s husband’s uncle’s goat. It’s just hassle I don’t need when gaming is an escape from crap that’s going on IRL and people who get that uptight forget that it’s a bloody game, not their lives or the end of the world. Sadly childhoods spent on the internet don’t teach proportional reactions to things.

Best parental control is the off switch on the router. In all honesty, the game wouldn’t have features for children given that it’s a 16+/Teen rated game. The most there is in the way of controls is a profanity filter which can be turned on and off in the options menu so even if you enable it, your kids could easily (and most likely would) disable it.

I was getting a bit frustrated trying Fallen Masks on my Reaper when a guildie suggested using a Druid with Natural Stride. Worked a treat and I got the silver I needed. If you can remember the mask spawn points (it’s RNG but the possible spawn points are the same), and which mushroom sends you where, it’s not so bad. I totally get your frustration though: had a few runs of 13 and 14 before I swapped over to my Druid. I’m just thankful it wasn’t a silver in Sanctum Scramble I needed, especially with the 1 skill going missing…

I’ve had good personal luck with Freshwater Pearls from Mussels. I often do the “mussels farm” in Verdant Brink on the way to the flax farm from the entry waypoint along the streams. I’d guess about 1 in 50. I had 2 in a row once from the end of the south lane in Dragon’s Stand.

Now Magumma Lily from jungle plants, no luck at all there..

QFT. I decided I wanted a Trailblazer set, checked my bank and saw I’ve never had a Maguuma Lily but have a few Pearls from the route you mentioned when the Jaka Itzel waypoint’s contested/taking new characters to the garden. I’m a self-confessed node addict who will harvest everything she sees but it staggered me that I’ve never had a single lily since HoT launched.

There is hope though!

There are some improvements on obtaining the new HoT gear in the April update but it won’t resolve the issue of having some builds difficult to gear than others until Living World Season 3.

I wouldn’t mind this but I guess it could be argued that pursuing titles gives you achievement points which already go towards various account boosts. I like the idea though, always felt like my titles in GW1 that were more than cosmetic were more worth the grind. Having said that, a lot of GW2 titles don’t have the same grind as we had in the first game.

Edit – The Lightbringer and EotN titles all gave various boosts, Lucky/Treasure Hunter/Wisdom gave salvaging/lockpick retention bonuses. Kurz/Luxon/Sunspear made certain skills stronger.

Thanks.

I will try to install voice comms software and look for these guilds for TT.

You don’t even need to do that. I got all my TT achieves and MPs with a ‘pug’ group of NA regulars who don’t use voice com. They advertise as ‘Post Reset’ (best to look for taxis around 30 mins after reset) and the last time they failed, it was due to a bugged wurm (which we now know how to handle). Other than that, it’s been a triple decap every night.

I might also be a bit ticked off with TTS advertising their runs in our maps but that’s besides the point. The point is that there’s a good degree of organisation with TT, even if you can’t get in a run with one of the dedicated guilds.

I agree that there’s much less choice when it comes to Tyrian MPs and I deeply sympathise. I did the SW JP the other day with a video guide to help me get through. What I’ll say is it’s easier than I thought and I was able to skip a few parts due to gliding – also meant I didn’t have to worry about plummeting to my death quite so much. I now only need 3 MPs which I’ll most likely pick up from easier LS2 achieves.

As for fractal achieves, I know my guild helped me (and others) to get a lot of mine as well as learning fractals in general. I’m sure other guilds out there will help in a similar manner as there’s quite a lot of newer/returning players since f2p/HoT that want to do that content. Heck, my guild’s even started doing a dungeon night on Weds for those who need tokens/achieves/the MP from doing all story modes.

Only because people like you keep coming on every once in a while to tell me how they’re not trolls how they’re trying to help yet a simple read through of the thread proves otherwise. Points can be made, and opinions can be held without needing to put other people down. It’s not hard.

And a couple of hours ago you claimed you were tired and in need of sleep, but here you are still posting. I gave you my opinion in a non-insulting manner, you went on to call everyone who had responded in this thread a troll while I was gone. I don’t think you know what that word actually means. People have been reasonable with you and one guy decides to ride you a bit to see what gets a rise, yet you bring hyperbole into the situation. Repeatedly if we’re going on the death threat/murder comparisons. You might have found my last response to be ‘mean’ but it was a lighthearted attempt to say that you probably need a break from this thread as your responses are becoming less coherent over time and doing more harm to your credibility than good. It’s not putting someone down when their behaviour is evident in their own words and actions. It’s being factual. Maybe people wouldn’t be as antagonistic if you treated them with some respect instead of gross generalisations which are downright insulting. And no, it’s not a case of you shouldn’t be offended unless it applies to you – to be falsely accused of something is offensive. You may not think so but most people do. You said ‘people like me’ when my first post in this thread was respectful and polite, but in your world that’s apparently trolling. Do you not see how this is a problem and how this could most likely be why you get the amount of grief in game that you claim you do (still waiting on examples along with the others who’ve called for them)?

Do yourself a favour and get the sleep you claimed you needed earlier. I think you’ll feel a bit embarrassed about this thread when you wake up.

What I am suggesting is that we have certain community members around, who have limited power, but more-so than your average joe, to ‘temporary mute’ or ‘bump up a priority report’ on certain individuals who are legitimately being vulgar to others or like I said to gold sellers too since Anet can’t be there at all times. Just a simple map-wide mute, or fast-track report to Official Anet to be dealt with.

And obviously I’m not on about simple “l2p noob” type comments. I mean like people genuinely being pretty offensive.

This isn’t a private server. The games I’ve seen player-based moderation in have always had the problem of those players abusing their power. That’s why professional companies hire staff to deal with reports as they don’t have a dog in the fight. They also have a moderation guideline to adhere to which ensures fairness. They also get paid a wage and it’s a full time job so they take it more seriously as it pays their bills.

Now, if you’re having problems with someone in game, why fuel the fire by reacting to them? If it’s directed at you, report and block. If it’s directed at someone else, report and block. If you find the general tone of map chat too immature, turn it off. If someone proceeds to harass you after you’ve taken reasonable steps to block them, report them and block their alt/friend. If someone was verbally abusing me IRL, I’d ignore them and if they continued to harass me, I’d go to the police. The police in this game are the ANet staff. If you feel they haven’t dealt with a report you’ve made, open a ticket to discuss the matter further with a staff member. No one’s trying to victim blame here, just trying to get to the bottom of why you don’t feel that the steps that you can take personally without any special snowflake powers aren’t enough when the majority of people find they are ample.

Yes, a lot of people are jerks. Sadly that’s life but at least in this game you can choose not to have to deal with them. If I were being cynical, I’d say you were personally angling for some powers as a player with this suggestion. Note: if I were. Not I am.

We need some kind of reliable shard selection if we keep designing maps in such a way that organization and the completion of pre events are necessary for one big, regularly scheduled event.

This is why I liked the district selection in the first game so much. Granted you’d have to spam to get into AE district 1 Kamadan, but I don’t see how that’s any different to spamming ‘Join in…’ when you’re trying to taxi into a map near capacity. Easier actually as you didn’t need contact with someone who was already inside the map to gain access. It’d reduce a lot of the LFG clutter which is mostly taxiing and raids (still don’t know why a tab wasn’t added for that).

Other content I would like to do but is too difficult nobody wants to do it: the Triple Trouble world boss event. You get 1 mastery point for each of the 3 wurm heads you defeat (it would probably take you 3 completions to get them all). Another mastery point for decapitating the great jungle wurm and then defeating each of the 3 heads in 1 play of the event. The problem: I only ever tried this event twice, and recently. Both times there weren’t enough players at a single wurm head to defeat any of them (I also have no idea how to decapitate the wurm). I tried a different wurm head each time. There seemed to always be at least 4 champion level enemies around the wurms at all times. Basically this is an event that requires a ton of players and nobody seems to want to do it.

The first wurm after reset on NA is hosted by a group of regulars. I’ve been going the past 3 nights and last night we had a kill. All wurms are explained by the commanders without TS3/Vent and we have a great time. The spawns after that are hosted by EVOS/TTS who will advertise taxis in LFG (45-30 mins before the timer), just as the post reset team does. The only downside to TT is the wait to get set up and it’s best to get in the map early to make sure there’s a spot for you. In an unorganised map, it’s going to fail as I found out in the past myself. Being an EU on NA servers, TTS/EVOS run too late for me so the post reset team is perfect timing for me. I got my cobalt decap last night (and 2 MPs), and will be running with the post reset team for fun after I’ve got my achievements and MPs. If you can make it on for that run, I highly recommend it

You need 50 unclaimed minis and some of them cannot be earned anymore.

GWAMM is maxing 30 titles in game, nothing to do with dedicating minis in the HoM. You’d only need to do that if you were working on HoM points for the ‘Champion of the Gods’ title (50/50 points). It’s possible to purchase a lot of minis from other players from birthday presents and that’s a pool of over 50 minis to choose from (70 in total from years 1-5 birthday gifts) before you look at ones like mini Dhuum (UW chest) or Black Moa Chick (scavenger hunt). It’d take longer due to a smaller playerbase, but it’s definitely possible, as is GWAMM.

I’d actually be for adding a daily for dungeons. There’s been a large influx of new players with HoT and F2P who have found it hard to set foot inside a dungeon since the changes came in seeing kitten few people do them now. It’d also be a small something for those who used to run them who no longer do so. Or people can sell dungeon runs on the day they’re a daily and make some cash that way. If activities get a daily slot, I don’t see why dungeons should be excluded from the same sort of rotation. Replace the ‘daily fractal’ with daily dungeon – daily fractals have their own category so it seems a bit superfluous to me.

whereas if an English newspaper uses the term they could be talking about someone Middle Eastern.

Uh, never seen that in my 30 years of living in England. If it’s someone Middle Eastern, they say Middle Eastern. We tend to use the term Asian in print to class those from further east but that can include Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi etc as well. A highly popular food takeaway site in the UK has the option for people to list their businesses as ‘Oriental’ as well as the options for Chinese/Thai/Japanese, and 99% of the businesses list themselves as ‘Oriental’ as well as whatever cuisine they specialise in. Most of them are run by Chinese/Japanese/Thai people too so… I guess that’s why it’s not such a big deal to some people as there’s a lot who will self-identify as ‘Oriental’. Then there’s ‘oriental lilies’ which haven’t been renamed as a type. One could argue that the term ‘European’ is equally as offensive as there are many diverse cultures in Europe but we tend to get lumped together in one big mass. It’s all about intent and I personally see the terms as general descriptors of ethnicity when one doesn’t know the exact country of origin.

Back on topic:
I’d love to see Cantha in GW2-shininess myself. The last thing I did in GW1 before I made my shift across was Winds of Change. Factions was my favourite expansion and I’d love to know what’s going on over there now. Ideally I’d love to see a bit of lore expansion for humans who said they were of Canthan descent.

Seems like people have been asking for this a lot (there are a lot more posts about this but I can’t possibly link them all :P) And even though there are people who said they wouldn’t pay as much, there were people happily telling the forum that they’d pay a lot for them. So I suppose I can see where their price indication came from…

Quite a few of those you quoted were thinking about shared bag slots though which would have been fair by most people’s standards and I’d have bought it right away.

Personally I’m glad I didn’t buy extra Copper feds, harvesting tools and passes but even so the price of these slots made me wince. Those who did buy them, how the hell could they have seen this coming when ANet’s ignored many suggestions (and bug reports!) in the past? I don’t think those people are stupid, just unfortunate. Given the refunds in the past, I don’t see why this situation should be any different. At the very least they should be able to do something with the excess items they no longer need other than destroy them or have them taking up space.

I’ll be waiting for either a change in price or a sale before I touch these and yes, it’s made me very wary about further gem store purchases of any kind now. It’s not because I can’t afford them, just I don’t feel that they’re value for money for me as an individual. Especially given how the Permanent Bank Access Contracts are in such limited (currently non-existent) supply.

There’s a handy guide on the GW1 wiki (Link) but you’re not going to get many points before Lv 20. However, you can hit Lv 20 in EotN opposed to Prophecies if you’re finding the main campaign slow moving like I did. There’s a nice section in that article that gives pointers for limited accounts (those that don’t have all campaigns) and I’d personally try for the minis for easy points. I have a few I could hook you up with in GW1 if you’re desperate seeing as I have them cluttering up my storage on there from 22 characters lol.

looks like they forgot to update the footer on the forums, still showing NCsoft.

Still says 2010-2013 too for that matter…

You asked for the source and I gave you the source. I’d rather believe what the studies made by Blizzard and other companies/groups conclude, which, by the way, is exactly what anet has done with this ban wave, than what a random nobody says on the internet.

What other groups and companies? When I read the post, the information seemed to solely come from Blizzard’s observations of their own playerbase. I’m sorry as someone who has worked as staff on games before wanting a bit more of an insight than one biased forum post that was referenced by a ‘random nobody on the internet’. You know, like an actual independent study instead of ‘Blizzard thinks this without providing any supporting data’, but that’s me. Shame on me and how I’ve been thought to think analytically and look for bias in sources that clash with my experience instead of jumping on the throat of someone who challenges what I say and immediately going on the offensive because I feel so threatened by a differing opinion.

Man, it’s amazing how people turn to personal attacks so easily instead of engaging in debate. Also very sad.
