I know I’m not the only one that has entered the wrong end of a portal or sat around an enemy portal thinking it was friendly portal.

It occurred to me that adding an arrow to friendly portals that pointed in the direction of the other half of the portal would be a simple yet nice addition. Maybe even have the arrow point towards the player that dropped it until the second half is laid. Heck, a countdown timer that hovered over it would be sweet too.

Bonus question: pre launch, anet said that portals would be accessible by foes, what ever happened to that? I still lol when I think about the possibilities of knocking a foe back through a portal, or how this would affect camping wvw JPs (not that this happens much anymore).

TL;DR – add directional arrows to portals that point to the other half of the portal, viewable by friendlies only.

Violent Resolution [VR] from Mag is on MagBL tonight and they have a spy on TC.

I won’t mention the characters name, but here are screens of him repping VR while running in our zerg. And so far we have been jumped by the [VR] guild/zerg on MagBL twice.

Come on folks, play nice pls. Spying is just low and ruins your guild reputation if you must resort to such things.

If anyone from VR wants to pm me I can let you know who it was.

Not Enough Mad King Finishers for Meta

If you do the first part of the LS content you get four finishers, each giving you 5.
So 4 * 5 = 20 == enough to complete achieve. Don’t know what you did with yours.

This ^ is my issue. I did the LS and got the 4 (each supposedly with 5 uses each). But some how they got used completely up and I’ve only been credited with 10 of 20 uses.

That particular boss is buggy to fight and stacking is the best option.

I speed run dungeons every day. But I have way more patience for new players than I do for elitists. Taking time to communicate and educate people on the best tactics is something I enjoy and will tolerate horrible players if they are genuinely doing the best they can. However, if someone is blatantly ignoring or refusing to cooperate with the rest of the team, I will absolutely kick them.

I would probably not kick anyone at 10% hp left on the final boss though. If I put up with someones crap that long, I’d at least them finish and just not run any more dungeons with that person. Your team should not have kicked you that late in the game.

Yeah, weapons didn’t increase much, but the 6 trinkets combined went from 36% to 44% which was a rather large jump. Armor stats are between the two, so they should see between a 2% and 7% increase, I just wish I knew the specifics for my project.

Hey guys, I’m working on a fun side project and I need to know what the crit dmg would be on each of the 6 ascended pieces of armor for like Valkyrie or Berserker.

I know ascended armor isn’t in the game yet, but will be (by the end of the year?) and we do have some info from data mining and can also make estimations based what we know so far.

Does anyone know for a fact, or is there a safe assumption that can be made based off of current exotic vs ascended stats?

Well that’s great for all of you, but I have zero finishers left. I’ve been farming all day and havent seen a single finishers as a drop. So either I keep hopeing for a drop or i have to buy one from the gem store.

Well, Ive used up all 4, but only have 10 credited uses. Either it doesnt count if someone else stomps him first, it’s bugged, or they expired over time before I could get 20 kills.

I’ve heard this, but if so, it shouldn’t affect how much dmg we deal to him, it would only deal dmg back to us players, which wasn’t to much of an issue.

I am going to disagree with the “wasn’t to much of an issue.”

Just because we had different experiences doesn’t mean one of us is wrong, so I’m not sure why you need to disagree with it. I was simply noting that the issue we had was not with survivability due to retal, our issue was not being able to DPS him at all due to his healing.

So one of the meta achievements required to make progress in the story line is to kill 20 ppl using the mad king finisher, and we get 4 in the mail.

So I activated the finisher and spent some time in wvw and pvp. Now I’m at 10 of 20 kills and the finishers are all gone?

I was under the impression each finisher was good for 5 kills, so how could all 4 be gone with only 10 kills?

I posted the question ‘impossible?’ > nice people were very informative > we concluded it’s most likely a bug > you enter the thread ‘stop your QQing for easy content it’s not impossible!’ w/o even reading the progress of the thread. So yeah, i updated the title and OP bc it was apparently to much effort for you to get off your high horse and actually read the progression and conclusion. And no it’s not the end of the thread, bc since posting this has happened a few more times. Hence, it is a real issue and bug that people would like to discuss.

On the piken square instance we killed him and I got achievement but the next time he spawned he was bugged. Not sure if it’s still bugged or not but it was impossible to kill him. Full zerg couldnt outdmg his life steal, which he was doing constantly.

Good to know I’m not crazy and we weren’t the only ones!

The QQ on this forum is ridiculous. Everyone wants everything fast, free and without any thought put into it. Now bosses are being labeled as “impossible” cos a zero can’t auto attack down in 2mins… Just ridiculous.

I’m not QQing for easy content and your reply is both shallow, uncalled for and does not contribute to the topic. And if your thread ‘to much qq’ is a response to mine then thats just sad.

I’m wondering if this is a bug and anyone else run into it. On our overflow we easily had 40 people in the zerg and had already beat him a few times. Then on this particular spawn his health would not drop. We had max 25 stacks of condition on him and plenty of melee dps. We would watch his HP creep down to 95% – 90% then boost back up. We were very coordinated (well as much as an overflow can be) and tried several different approaches but to no avail. In this instance, he was impossible and we had to give up. Hence the title of the tread.

We beat him by having everyone stand at his feet and dps with melee. Much higher dps than using ranged.

We started out doing that. His HP would drop to 90%, then he’d aoe life steal and get back to 100%. we watched this several times and then opted to range to see if we could get outside of his life steal, but couldn’t.

We have beat him before, so I think this must be a bug where his steal occassionally gets OP.

UPDATING FOR CLARITY:

Yes, he can has been beaten by just being fought normally; however, my overflow ran into an instance where he was impossible to beat.

We had a couple of commanders and at least 40 players in our zerg. We had previously beaten him, but on this particular spawn he would heal faster then we could DPS him. We had max conditions on him and 90% of players were stacked on him, melee’ing him. His HP would drop to about 95% every 60 seconds and then heal back up. We changed tactics and tried going all ranged to get outside of the range of his aoe life siphon, but that did not work.

Anyone else run into this?

I’m on an overflow and did not get the AP for killing the candy corn. Neither did others. I also noticed killing him did not register for my bloodlust sigil.

If you crit – Twice. Once for the on-hit and once for the on-crit, at the same time.

Well, I know that’s what should happen via the descriptions. But I’m wondering if anyone has tested or run this to know for sure that you actually siphon twice.

Vampiric Minor Trait: Siphon health whenever you hit a foe.

Vampiric Precision Major Trait: Siphon health whenever you critical hit.

Do you siphon twice on crit hits, siphon more, or does one just get canceled out?

My initial assumption is that the traits weren’t thought out and they probably cancel, making it silly to bring both. But maybe I’m wrong and you actually siphon twice. Anyone know for sure?

New to Ranger, sword auto getting me killed

Ive been playing war and guard since launch and this week decided to change that up by playing ranger.

I’ve been having a lot of fun. But the sword auto attack is so awful, I honestly can’t believe it’s been this bad since launch.

From what I’ve noticed, animations are broken up between upper and lower body, which is why we can use skills while on the move. But sword auto uses both upper and lower, making it more like a channel skill instead of a chain. When used you get rooted in place and can’t move or dodge.

This game relies heavily on positioning and dodging and I’ve nearly died many times in dungeons because I literally can’t move out of the way of a telegraphed boss skill. Please oh please anet, fix this skill

TL;DR

Why does the auto attack root you in place, making it impossible to dodge or strafe out of the way of big dmg skills? Am I the only one annoyed by this?

And another thing is that it’s still in beta rollout. I don’t think ALL players have it available to them yet.

all players have it available by now, but many (that I’ve talked to at least) don’t even know about it since there wasn’t an in-game notification or even a separate LFG icon on the UI.

Well someone told the new players because I keep getting stuck in dungeon parties with all noobs Which I think is great that we are getting a lot of new players, but makes for a longer dungeon run :P

Oh what a cute widdle PC. :p

And that 500W PSU isn’t going to cut it. Not with a GTX 770. Shoot for a Corsair 600 or 650 watt PSU. They aren’t that much more expensive. Also note that the PSU cage in the case can’t really take deep/long PSUs (160mm/6.3" max). CX600 would fit nicely with room to spare.

Yeah, that was a mistake, I will be getting something between 600-750W. I won’t be purchasing for a few weeks so I’ll have to finalize then. I may upgrade to a 4G graphics card as well. Still undecided.

If you dont have a good gaming PC, then by all means build one. But dont do it cause GW2 sucks on your current system. News flash GW2 sucks on every system right now. Even if you put 2500 into a top of the line i7 build, your FPS is still going to suck on WvW.

I don’t have a gaming PC at all right now. I’m using a mac and it literally crashed 2-5 times an hour.

1. NOTHING – no system that currently exists, can play WvW in a full zerg on max settings and get high FPS (the current max FPS is 30, and thats with dives down into the teens -13-18).

2. If WvW is your only goal, stop. Its really not worth it.

I actually only play wvw about 20% of the time, but when I do, I’d like to be able to stream and have decent graphics/FPS.

My buddy tells me if I build my own, these are the components I would need:

- case
- power supply
- motherboard
- CPU
- (optional) non-standard CPU cooler
- RAM (recommend 8 GB min)
- Harddrive
- (optioonal) SSD (solid state disk — very fast hard drive, but also more expensive / GB)
- graphics card
- DVD drive (or Blu-Ray)
- (optional) sound card (almost all mobo’s have adequate sound so unless you’re a real audiophile, it’ll be good enough)

First off, I’m not techy at all, so try to explain things in a similar way you would to your grand dad…

I would like to be able to play on max graphics and potentially stream live while zerging in WvW. I’d like to build a custom tower and get a decent display (24"-30") and my budget is around $1,000.

Before diving into details and specifics, can anyone explain to me the big picture of what makes a computer a good gaming comp? What part of the comp affects which parts of game play, etc?

Obviously, high FPS, fast load screens, max graphics while running mumble and twitch are all great.

Regardless of your view on hoarding, more bank tabs is not the solution for mats that pile up past 250, nor a solution for account bound skins that are being thrown at us every two weeks.

Adding more tabs and/or creating a guild bank is not a correct/proper fix. Those are temp fixes.

And apparently anet has previously commented that they are looking into a solution for the skins and have half developed the ability to allow us to hold more than 250 in mat slots. ANET themselves view it as an issue that needs a fix, so arguing other wise at this point is just silly. I’m really annoyed by the people blindly accusing others of hoarding to much and needing to come up with other sub-par fixes.

After the wallet upgrade, if you’re managing to completely fill up 12 bank tabs, you need to seriously reevaluate what you think is worth keeping.

You obviously haven’t read the thread. Regardless of how many bank tabs anet gives us, more tabs is not the proper fix for excess mats and living story/gem store skins.

Why do you think anet made currency stacks higher? Bc they have purchasable items that require more than 250, and bc excess currencies were taking up bank space.

Mats are the same, anet has craftable items that take more than 250 of a certain mat, and excess mats are now taking up bank space.

apparently you guys are just doing something wrong.

Um no, I’m not ‘doing it wrong’. Just bc someone does it different does not mean it’s wrong.

Maybe 250 stacks are suffice for 1 character, but i have 8 and they are all working on crafting their own exotic/ascended/legendary gear. And that takes a lot of mats. I’m not just going to sell off my excess T6 and ectos bc you think I should only have 250 exactly at a time.

Half of the new ascended mats are also account bound so I can’t sell. I’m not ready to craft yet, so what would say, just delete them? Um no thank you.

It is a legitimate issue whether or not you think it is. Sure some ppl would horde way to much, but that does not mean we shouldn’t be allowed to horde a reasonable amount, and 250 for 8 toons working on high end gear is not suffice.

My god guys why do you even have that much crap in your bank in the first place? The skins I understand, but materials? Seriously? For what possible reason would you ever hoard so many of anything? Just craft up the gear you want for your characters and then SELL the left over junk.

Honestly, do you really need enough clutter in your bank to make a legendary weapon ten times over?

1st Tab – always empty for moving items around and common use
2nd Tab – buffs, food, poitions
3rd Tab – Account bound consumables (rez orbs, repair kits, bank merch etc)
4th Tab – Legendary mats
5th Tab – Account bound tonics & BL salvage tools
6th Tab – all extra mats (half of which are account bound ascended mats)
7th Tab – Living story skins
8th Tab – Living story skins

I’m extremely picky on what I keep and most of these items are account bound and are either hard to get or can never be gotten again.

yay, 4 bank tabs you have to pay real money for….it’s sad the bank it’s smaller than your actual loot bag, ridiculous, can’t believe World of Warcraft, a much inferior game already has stuff like free bank tabs with your bags and a transmogrification bank so you can store your gear skins

WoW also had a monthly fee which is why their stuff may have been free. I don’t mind anet charging for these items, especially since gems can be bought with in game currency, I’d just like fixes for these real issues not just excess tabs.

It won’t. Thankfully trans stones will let us move all armor and weapons over, but the tools should be account bound, just like the copper-o-matic is. I also swapped mains and am sad my EL tools are soulbound and won’t be used much anymore.

Previously I had bought all 8 bank tabs and created an alt with 20 slot bags to hold all of my stuff, so I am really thankful for the extra 4 slots!

However, this is only a temporary fix for a huge issue, one that deserves a real permanent fix.

1/2 of my storage is being used by excess mats and back pieces/skins from the living story and gem store. And with living story updates coming every two weeks we are on track to get another 100+, back pieces alone, by the second anniversary.

And I would happily pay for these features.

  1. Mats should stack infinitely, just like our currency does.
  2. Pack pieces, weapons skins, gem store town clothes and armor skins should all be unlocked account wide and stored with an NPC, like the HoM historian, or in the hero panel, like AP skins.

I would happily pay for an item that even lets us stack 500-1,000 mats in the mat slot or pay for an tab that stores all LS skins.

2700 armour is 33%, 3000 armour is soft cap

Power/Precision/Crit Dmg are linear

Where is the math behind this statement? Is there another thread or website post or document that explains it more.

Stacks of 250 were apart of GW1, but I must agree it’s good to challenge why things are done, and I would like to know why this is so. I’ve already bought all bank tabs and it does not solve the solution of stacks being frustrating.

  1. Maybe anet can make stacks larger
  2. Or if they want money, make an item that lets collectable slots hold 500, 750, 1,000 mats etc or even infinite.

There is also a ‘ratio’ or ‘soft cap’ I guess, for point efficiency. For example once you have high Power, you should start investing more into Precision. It’s not that each point of Power starts giving you less damage, but that you would be better off investing somewhere else (due to the nature of the damage formula).

This is the info I’m looking for I think. Are there any tables/graphs/research by the community it?

All stats are a linear gain in GW2 (were in GW1 as well), there is no diminishing returns.

I understand they are linear (1 point vitality will always give 10 points HP), but I’m wondering about effectiveness. For example: maybe at 500 toughness you take 100% dmg, at 1,000 toughness you take 50%, and at 1,500 toughness you take 40% dmg. This shows that the higher you go in toughness the less effective it will be.

I’m wondering about power/prec/crit dmg too.

Hey guys! So I’m playing around with different build ideas for my lvl 80 and recently I was told in game that there are ‘soft’ maxes to certain stats (ei toughness etc). Meaning, once you hit a certain number, the particular stat becomes decreasingly helpful/effective.

Is this true, is there a document or graph out there that displays this for me? I’ve read over the wiki, but it was difficult for me to understand.

I’m wondering about all stats, but if there has been research done well on just one or two I’d appreciate that also, anything/everything is great!

Second short question, I’ve also been told that PvE mobs will target the player with the most toughness, is this true/confirmed?

My guess is that karma is currently being evaluated and more changes are pending.

There was without a doubt an over abundance of karma in the game, making karma bought items to common and easy to get.

Anet appears to be adjusting the excess volume by making it all account bound and tightening down the reigns on how quickly it can be acquired. They most likely pulled the reigns back way to far on purpose so that they could evaluate it and slowly allow more back in until they reach the optimal speed at which they want players to gain it.

No, it’s considered a casual game for casual players with free bi monthly updates. The top of the game is more grindy than difficult. Hard core content is hopefully in developement and would be added slowly at some poing.
