Even if you miss one of the days, once Tixx gets to LA you’ll be able to replay any events for any city he visited.
They updated the info for Winter’s Day on the main page. Tixx will appear in each racial city for an ENTIRE day, during which you can participate in his events. No cinematics, no one time only events. At 10 AM PST the next day he’ll move to the next city. Again, no cinematics or events. When he finally gets to LA you can replay everything again for an entire week. No matter what time zone you’re in Yargesh, you’ll have plenty of time to participate.
Are people seriously still gripeing over this? It’s a promotion! You get absolutely nothing new but the hat, which gives no benefit at all. And you’re really going to complain about a Christmas sale? That’s like going to Wal-Mart in December after having bought a game in November and demanding a refund because it suddenly went on sale. Get over it, people!
It’s hard to miss a game I can go back to any time I wish. I still like the game, if that’s what you mean.
I love this game! I plan to play it for many years to come. As far as I’m concerned there’s very little not to love.
You people are seriously complaining about a town clothes promo hat that you’ll likely never display and keep in valuable storage space? Just because you paid for Digital Deluxe? It’s a Promo for crying out loud! That’s worse than bashing the pre-purchase players for having the Hero’s Band. “Oh I got the game three months later but I’m still a valuable player, I should get it too!” Seriously people, give it a rest. It’s just a promotion to get people to buy the game, and it’s not even a great one. Be happy with the goodies you do get and stop complaining about a useless hat.
I have to agree. I’m not so worried about the stats, you can craft those into almost anything. I really would like to see more skins though, and I’d also like to see cultural armor more widely available. Dunno about you guys but I find having to shell out 119 gold hard to stomach.
So let me get this straight. People are complaining about a town clothes promo hat that’s very rarely if ever going to get displayed and will be taking up space in their inventory? Seriously?
They’re also using programs that randomly generate e-mail addresses and passwords till they come across one that works. Consider yourself lucky that your log in password and e-mail password aren’t the same. However, if I were you, I’d change your log in password.
I have to agree that I’d like to see something more done with the HoM. I love the stuff I got from it though. I still see people in game asking me where I got my gear.
ANet gets rid of bots in large batches. Just report the one’s you saw and they’ll be out with the next batch. Bots are always going to be a problem. Heck you still see them in GW1 spamming in the Temple of Balthazar.
Honestly I would probably spend it on storage space, inventory or bank slots. Everything I said is a good point, but ultimately all it does is save you a bit of effort on later characters, and most of what you get from the items you can get from the usual farming.
Back at release they said they planned to add capes at some point, but right now there were severe clipping issues, even worse than weapons. Personally I’m not too worried about it.
I love GW2 because I love GW2, end of story!!! lol
To a certain extent I found the items to be worth it. As for the skill, in power it’s about equal to any other elite skill. The trick though, is that you never have to spend skill points to unlock it. Any alt you make, when they reach 30, will immediately have it available.
Considering that IGN, Time, and G4 nominated and or voted it Game of the Year, somehow I don’t think the game is dieing. Leveled off, maybe, but far far from dead.
If you have characters in other orders, they can get the armor for that order, then you can transmute the skin.
You know you play GW2 too much when you wake up from a great dream and wonder why you’re not sitting at your computer.
Seriously people? First you complain about the event, then you complain about not getting the chest, then you complain about getting the chest, then you complain about people getting two chests, then you complain about not getting a chest yet when the time limit isn’t even up, then you complain about what’s in the chest, then you complain about what should be in the chest or what shouldn’t be in the chest. Is there anything you won’t complain about? Give it a rest already! There will be other opportunities!
Actually ANet has come down pretty hard on bots lately. A good many of them have been removed. Just wait a little while and the next batch will be gone too.
Proxy’s math seems to be sound, and based on that I find myself forced to agree with him. However I’d like to put another reason on the table why I personally will not bother with Ascended gear. That being it seems to be geared more to the FotM dungeon than regular PvE play. I mostly do PvE play. I like map completion, running my daily achievement, and just doing events. I will applaud ANet for adding the dungeon, and it does seem to be very popular, but unless someone is doing that dungeon a lot there doesn’t seem to be any reason for getting Ascended gear. Since I leave the dungeon alone, I don’t need to worry about the gear. That’s my honest opinion.
I have to agree with you Mirta, I’d tell them to stay out of the forums too. Too many complaints and not enough useful info.
Actually yes, I would recommend this game to my friends. Many will blast me saying that the game is overly buggy, that the concept of gear progression and the treadmill takes the fun out of it, that Lost Shores ruined it, and so on and so forth. However my friends and I share an understanding about MMO’s that seems to have been missed by many in these forums. First off no game young in its release is going to be perfect. Even once it’s been out a year I can guarantee that there will be bugs. Guess what? Bugs don’t bother me one bit, and for the most part not my friends either. I know this because I warned them about it before recommending the game. Same with lag, it’s an expected occurrence especially during events. Again, not a big deal. Same with disconnects. These things are expected and endured. It just takes time to iron out the kinks, and I’m sorry but two months isn’t nearly enough time for any MMO to do that. And as for the whole gear progression argument, I don’t buy into it. The supposed higher stat boosts are minimal, and so far as I can tell the only real need for Ascended gear is if you’re moving up in the fractals dungeon. In regular PvE it has minimal benefit. So would I recommend this game to my friends? Absolutely.
While I have no small amount of sympathy for the oceanic players, I feel I have to remind people that on multiple occasions ANet has said that the timing of these events were set to coincide with the greatest amount of concurrent players logging in. This was not an attempt to single out a certain group, but rather an attempt to include as many people as possible in the event. ANet has also stated that they are aware of the disconnect issues associated with the event and will be attempting to compensate players who missed out on the chest. Believe it or not they do care about their player base.
Last time I saw a thread like this the official word was it was a good idea to hold on to them. However now that the event is over I’m curious as well.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Disconnect-at-the-end-of-Lost-Shores-Event-Read-this Read it and stop complaining.
I know I’m not a GM but I think it can be safely said that anyone who’s finished phase 1 or two won’t have to worry about any kind of reset on their progress. Second, the phase 3 event is at Sou.thsun Cove
I would like to point out something that some people seem to have forgotten. There will always be persons in game who are willing to do the dungeon run at lower levels, and thus you will be able to increase your fractal level. Not everyone is going to be an arrogant drone who says no. And just as an FYI, fractal level only goes to 10. So don’t worry, people may have to hunt for a group, but they’ll find one.
I’m afraid the hunt with the three water races was not extended.
Raksha, I’m going to be as blunt and as forthcoming as I can be. Guild Wars 2 is unique. There isn’t another MMO like it in existence. As such, the events and experiences within such a game are also unique. Unfortunately this also means that any glitches, bugs, and breaks are going to be summarily unique. It is therefor also safe to say that, having no past basis for these problems arising, it is difficult for the development team to foresee every issue that might raise its ugly head. So to be perfectly honest, it’s a perfectly legitimate excuse. I’ll grant you, with the scavenger hunt, there were certain parallels with NPC’s not showing up or not activating, but that doesn’t mean that it’s the same underlying issue causing the NPC to malfunction. Also, as a rule, such issues are not intentional, as it tends to offend the player base, as you have so succinctly pointed out. On the subject of timing, I have to disagree with you though. I believe that such one time events add flavor and depth to the game. Speaking as a veteran of Guild Wars 1, the only changes I saw in 4 years of playing the Halloween event were different masks. Other than that, it had gone stale. It seems to me that the development team was trying to avoid falling into that rut, and with one time events like this they’ve accomplished that, for the majority of players. You are, of course, entitled to your opinion, and I respect that. However it’s been my experience so far that the most negative reviews that have come from the game have been from a minority, though a very vocal minority. In game most people seem to like the way things are going. Again, I would like to say that such bugs and glitches will become fewer and fewer as time goes on. And I also have to say that I truly hope that they continue doing these “one time only” events, even if I do miss them from time to time. It only makes the game more interesting to play.
To be honest the rewards weren’t that great for either hunt, and the Canach one was the better of the two. I wouldn’t worry too much if I were you.
Canach was the final part of one of the scavenger hunts. The other scavenger hunt that involved the water races was not extended. You won’t be able to do it.
…. You know, that’s a very good question.
Phase 2 was basically a trailblazing of the island, and that’s done with. Phase 3 will be a massive fight with the Ancient Karka, and if I’ve read correctly it won’t be repeatable. The island and the new dungeon are permanent additions though, so you can return to them anytime.
Noll and Canach were part of the other scavenger hunt, and they did extend that one. Saballa was part of the other scavenger hunt though, and that one they decided not to extend for various reasons.
I’m afraid she was part of Phase 1 of the event, which is no longer active. Phase 2 is pretty much done as well, though you can get to Southsun Cove from LA and will continue to be able to do so.
You can still get to Southsun Cove, however the trailblazing event that occurred was one time only. The island is available, and I definitely recommend exploring it, but the initial event is done and can’t be repeated. There are several ongoing dynamic events going on on the island though.
I hate to break it to you Raksha, but the time of the events was e-mailed, displayed on the main website, and also put up on Facebook and Twitter. I’m sorry if you’ve had a lousy time of it with bugs, or have been unable to make it due to real life concerns, but it is, after all, only a game. There will be more events in the future, and as each one comes around, it’ll be more refined, with less bugs, as the system irons itself out. Until then, I recommend enjoying it to the best of your ability.
I have actually said in other posts that it’s impossible for ArenaNet to cater to everybody, whatever the reason. They schedule these events based on the greatest amount of concurrent players logged in at any given time. They are trying to cater to the majority of players logging in. Unfortunately real life gets in the way, no matter what. I personally am normally asleep during the times that these events have been taking place because I work the night shift, and as such have missed the start of them all. It’s an unavoidable circumstance of life and I personally choose, literally, not to loose sleep over it.
I’m afraid I’ll have to disappoint you Kill Kayt, but I don’t work for ANet. Though I’ll be honest I wish I did. No I’m just your average Joe Schmoe enjoying a great game. As for drops, while I haven’t found anything worthy of mention I have got some junk items from the island. Thank you and have a good night.
I just wanted to say that I have so far enjoyed the Lost Shores event, bugs and all. I appreciate all the work that ArenaNet has put into the update, despite the bugs. Bear in mind people, that this game is less than two months old. There is not now nor has there ever been an MMO this young that did not have it’s share of issues. Also bear in mind that the developers are only human, it’s not going to be perfect every time. Those citing Guild Wars 1 and WoW forget that in their early days they had loads of bugs too. Heck GW1 still does from certain content updates. So would the vocal minority please stop being so negative and just enjoy the game? Thank you ArenaNet!!!!!
Ok, I feel I need to put in my two cents worth. People who are comparing this to GW1 events fail to take into account that GW1 had two campaigns over which they could spread this, where as GW2 has a single event in a single campaign. Even that being the case, if they were able to spread it across time zones, there’s no way EVERYBODY is still going to make it. I can remember several years in GW1 where it was impossible for me to participate in holiday events simply because I work nights on the east coast, USA. If you can’t make it, you can’t make it, but quit complaining that ANet isn’t trying to take everybody into account, because that’s not the case.
This is a suggestion for something to be added to the trading post, or at least adjusted. Right now it’s impossible to fill an order for an item that is listed for less than you’d get from a vendor. My suggestion is to make it impossible to put in an order on the trading post that is less than a vendor would give. This would get rid of a lot of useless posts and at the same time make sure that people got good value for their items when sold quickly.
