Yak’s Bend Server
Crimethink [ct]
It doesn’t matter if you pay money or not – you’ll still have the 7 day cooldown.
You’re going to have to wait 2 days, delete your characters and try again.
“And now you know… the REST of the story.” Paul Harvey
To go to a “Very High” population server, it costs 1800 gems ($22.50 US/Euros).
To go to a “High” population server, it costs 1000 gems ($12.50 US/Euros).
To go to a “Medium” population server, it costs 500 gems ($6.25 US/Euros).Note the unethically money-grubbing nature of the gem costs being values you cannot purchase, forcing you to overspend – $30.00 to go to Very High, $20.00 to go to High, and $10 to go to Medium.
Why does everybody forget to mention that you can always convert gold to gems? You don’t have to pay any cash out of pocket. Is it a pain in the kitten? Yes, but it’s still a viable option, and you can get the exact amount of gems you need for the transfer.
I’m at 68% right now.
I’ve made all character classes, completed in all categories, yet I seem to be one hint short of getting full hint completion. Can anyone offer suggestions? Thank you!
Thank you, you have restored some of my faith in humanity… and shown that some actual “humans” do come to the forums
Unfortunately I’ve seen this kind of thing already. Simple solution for me: Don’t join any group requiring that I ping my gear. End of story
I actually saw that interview but lost the link to it. Thank you for finding it again. You’re still going to get the haters that will gripe about it though. Personally, I have no problem with Ascended, but I only plan to get it for one of my characters. The rest will stay in exotic, because I personally don’t want to go through the trouble of getting Ascended gear for 7+ characters, and don’t feel it’s necessary. I don’t do this because I feel it’s alt unfriendly, I simply don’t feel like investing the time for additional characters.
In a recent interview during PAX Colin said that Guild Halls were coming, but per usual didn’t say when.
Sometimes re-visiting Chantry of Secrets will make it work.
I could be mistaken, but despite the completion notice saying otherwise I seem to be only getting 14 karma for event rewards.
This actually sounds like a good idea. It’d certainly be easier on storage.
I believe most people would tell you Elementalist. I don’t play one though, so I can’t say for sure.
Crystal Guardian has Celestial stats, so the MF would simply have been removed.
Since when did they say SAB wouldn’t be permanent this time? I don’t remember seeing that anywhere, and I do remember them saying that they would be adding more permanent content. Who knows? Maybe it’ll be sticking around this time.
I realize that it looks a bit daunting, but I think if you watch this video and follow it’s simple instructions you’ll feel much better about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSReSGe200A
Two reasons for saving them. First is, yes, saving the greens. And it will be worth your time to salvage them for essence of luck, trust me. Also, you’ll be getting ascended crafting materials, which you can use to make the new tier weapons.
Will people STOP THROWING AROUND THE WORD ‘PROMISE’. Please? They just said ‘we will have all the stat combos’. Its not a marriage agreement. Its not a binding contract. Its a conversation.
In this case its almost certainly a bug. One of about 420 introduced in this patch (a.k.a. about par for the course). Report it in the bug forums and give them a day or two to fix it.
Not only this, but I don’t seem to recall them giving an actual time frame for WHEN they’d be adding it. Don’t jump to conclusions.
Jellie and Duke Darkwood, thank you. Both of your words point out a lot about the unfortunately very vocal minority. You’ll likely get blasted for your logic and kindness, but there are more than a few in the silent majority who are behind you.
You guys work so hard to keep pumping out content for us, and it is 100% free. I mean seriously if this was EA every single new patch probably gonna cost 10$ each already. So thank you for that, seriously.
I agree, best MMO I’ve ever played.
I may not like every single patch, but in 2 weeks there’s another one…then another 2 weeks there’s another one, then another, then another. At this rate we will have 26 content patches in the time it took my last MMO to release ONE (at $15 per month).
I’m with you two. This game is the best ever! Keep up the good work ANet! Don’t let the trolls get you down! Know that there are many in the silent majority who love and appreciate what you do and will say so every time when asked!
This needs to be said first and warrants capslock: DO NOT BUY ALIENWARE!
Their hardware should be alright, but it’s enormously, incredibly, ridiculously overpriced. Stay away. How much are you willing to spend?
Do you want to overclock the CPU?Obviously custom-built is always the best choice, much better price/performance.
Should be a lot of great tips/suggestions at: http://www.guildwars2guru.com/forum/33-computer-buying-building/
I have to agree with this, Alienware is good as far as computing power goes but it costs more due to the cosmetics that go with it. I got an Asus G74S, standard package, for a bit over 1k and it’s able to handle max graphics no problem. However if you’re willing to put a bit of work into a tower it’d be a lot cheaper and probably more powerful. Just make sure the cooling system is up to par.
No Reaction from mods or something like that? Really sad..
Why should the staff respond to such a childish thread? It’s more people bashing gear with useless statistics and empty predictions. Most of these arguments had no traction when ascended trinkets came out and they have even less now. If you want the gear, great, go and work for it. If you don’t want it, then don’t bother with it. Ultimately it’s players choice and all the math in the world makes not a difference.
Are you kidding me? All arguments are right, if you read the thread you would know. and that ANet lies in advertisment is a shame! A company works for money, so they work for their customers! But what does ANet do for their ‘fans’ ?
So you think that this disadvantage is nothing? Lol ..Oh I’ve been reading the thread and I’ve been laughing my head off the whole time that people can be that jaded. What people have been stating has been nothing but opinion and conjecture. It is my opinion that ANet has kept their promises, though perhaps not to the letter. The “Manifesto” is like the Pirate Code, more a set of guidelines than actual rules. And as for the math, well, there’s one huge variable that you can never take into account, and that’s how good the player is behind the keyboard. So please, accept the inevitable, and rub some bacon on it.
Hahahah. No, NOW you have an disadvantage if you have not this new gear. With bufffood and so on this disadvantage is big. So lets met in WvW and you wear yellow gear and I exotic. Winner gets 500g.
The point is that ANet said, if you don’t play one or two years, you have NO disadvantage.
But now you have this.
It’s nice that you are happy about this, but the most of the players aren’t it. Grinding, itemspiral and so on,GW22 goes the wrong way. And thats sad because it has so much potencial.
And here you see the unknown factor I spoke of. Let me point out three things you don’t know. 1. Why would I wear rare gear when I have a perfectly good set of exotic? 2. Why would I play WvW when I absolutely hate it? I’m sorry, but a duel isn’t a good enough reason. 3. How would you know me when you saw me? And why would I point myself out to you knowing you were gunning for me? As I said, the human factor is a variable that can’t be calculated. Besides, WvW is siege warfare, which is won in groups. Toodles!

Please follow the simple instructions in this video and everything will be fine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSReSGe200A
Happy Birthday, GW2! Honestly, I’d have to say my fav addition has been the Celestial armor/weapon category and the everlasting harvest tools. I hated carrying extras and running out at the wrong time. Next favorite has to be the wallet. Thanks ANet! Keep it up! Ignore the haters!
Just for the sake of posterity, I shall again repeat what’s been said by a few others, in this thread and others. Keep an eye on the event UI. Once it says that an invasion is occurring, you have 10 minutes to get to the specified map. Any overflow that is created within that 10 minute window will be hosting the event. Once that 10 minutes is over you’ll have to wait till the next event. It’s really simple, and to be honest it’s a huge window. The only real excuse for missing it is logging in sometime after the event has started.
It’ll start with the character’s creation day. So if you still have characters that you made at head start, those will be the first to get it. If you made characters after that date, they will still get birthday items, just later on when their first birthday is reached. That’s why I kept all five of my first characters without re-rolling. I don’t play three of them, but I figured there would be birthday presents so I waited. Now I’m glad I did.
It wouldn’t be an issue for me if we existing users could at least buy the armor instead of having to buy another copy of the game.
You can buy the armor from the gem store. It’s the Krytan, Primeval, and Profane armor skins that have been available since the game launched a year ago. You want em? 500 gems. Have at it.
Can we please just let this die? It’s a freaking promotion. It’s to entice people to buy the game, particularly those who are doing the trial. The armor skins are in the gem store and have been since launch. If you haven’t got them by now it probably means you didn’t want them anyway. 18 slot box? You should have a dozen by now. 10 EXP boosters? I’ve got more than that still in storage, haven’t touched them. In what way am I entitled to get these just because I’ve been playing since launch? I’m not. I don’t want them. I don’t need them. I’m happy with the status quot. Please just let these threads dye and keep the self entitlement to yourselves.
It’s not on your end guys. It’s Anet. Everyone have the issue, and it gets worse with many people on server.
If this is truly the case then ANet needs to info from those checks even more, as it will help them fix the issue.
I have been and will continue to direct players who have been having these issues to this forum. Hopefully ANet will be able to use the info.
You’re very welcome. If memory serves there was no easy solution to the European ISP issue either. I will, however, keep my fingers crossed and hope that something gets worked out. If it helps any, ANet WILL read this, and hopefully they’ll be able to figure out what’s causing the issue.
It’s actually not uncommon for ISP’s to have an issue with one specific program but not others. Granted, it’s a chat client, but my ISP has issues routing mIRC… which is a pain since I use it for Star Trek role playing. Yes, I’m a nerd, lol. I can also say that certain European ISP’s had huge issues with the GW2 client about 5 months back. Some are still having issues.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Constantly-losing-connection-to-server There’s a diagnostic client on that forum, it may prove to be of some help.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Constantly-losing-connection-to-server If you go to that forum, download the diagnostic tool, run it, and post the results ANet or some other knowledgeable player may be able to figure out why you keep crashing.
Sorry, I tried to post a link but apparently the forum isn’t taking HTML tags from me. anyway, go here, download the diagnostic tool, and post results to that forum. It’s possible someone will be able to help you from there. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Constantly-losing-connection-to-server
It’s possible there is an issue specificly with your client. That being a possibility, you may want to re-install the client. If that isn’t the case, there is a possibility that some part of the data path from your computer to the ANet servers is slowing things down. If you go to <a href="https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Constantly-losing-connection-to-server">this forum</a> and download the diagnostic client, run it, and post the results to that forum, either ANet or some knowledgeable player may be able to troubleshoot it for you.

Personally, it depends on the mood I’m in. I’ll play Living Story if I’m interested, or sometimes I’ll just do my daily achievement and then call it a day. Mostly though (and ironically) I enjoy completing time gated content. I recently saved enough Laurels for a full set of Ascended trinkets (without the backpack, though thanks ANet for making that possible with Secret of Southsun. I hate fractals.) and even more recently, a full set of Celestial armor and weapons. It took me forever to save up, but the sense of accomplishment was awesome.
As I said in the original post, there is a lot that OP said that I do not agree with. However, the key point is that a change of mindset is necessary. This I agree with. A great many complaints I have seen revolve around how GW2 does not have a lot of the things that most main stream MMO’s have. This is true, and it’s because GW2 is trying to do a lot of things different. They’re experimenting, changing, evolving, moving. In order to appreciate this I believe people need to approach the game with a clean slate, free of preconceptions and expectations. I’m not saying people should lower their standards, but rather to change the compass of those standards. Instead of following the typical MMO needle north, go east, south, or west.
There are points that OP made that I disagree with, but he’s dead on with the biggest point. GW2 is NOT GW1, nor any other MMO out there. When I started playing I started with a clean slate, no per-conceptions, no expectations. I’m glad, because it made me much happier with the game. Much of what I’ve seen has been complaining about “Why isn’t this in the game? Why isn’t that in the game? It’s in every other MMO I’ve played!” Well, this isn’t every other MMO you’ve played. It’s something else entirely. And I think that as soon as people open their minds and realize that they’ll see what a great game this is.
ArenaNet has fixed and polished so much content, why are you concentrating so much on all the things they haven’t?
Because that’s the only way they can make and justify their point.
Completely ignore all the positive aspects but point out the negatives.
You see it a lot in politics (i.e. never say nice things about your opponent) and you see it here among MMO players.
…………..Whats the point on focusing positive aspects on the game, shouldnt we be focusing on the negatives so we can improve it.I don’t get your fanboy logic.
Both the positive and negative aspects can provide valuable feedback.
Telling them what they do well gives them feedback on things they do well, thus they may very well replicate them things that were done well in the future.
Telling them what they can improve on shows where the game is weakest, so they can bring it up to par.
This… I’d like to add that gripe gripe gripe nag nag nag does absolutely nothing in either direction. If there’s a bug, report it. If there’s something you think should be added, there’s a suggestion forum. If you think there’s a balancing issue, there’s a place for that too, believe it or not. Nagging, however, helps not in the slightest.
Ahh, you are most welcome sir.
I’m glad you enjoy it.
This will cure what ails you… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSReSGe200A
You have my sympathy, good sir, for being unable to read patch notes or prior posts concerning such things. I truly feel sorry for you for being unable to find out that the LS teams do no play a part in bug fixes, but that there are in fact several other teams who are in charge of this. It truly pains me to see that you’re apparently unable to fathom that some of the things you mention may not even be bugs or flaws, but could be working exactly as they should. My condolences, sir.
Where does it say that?
They could mean things like the Unlimited Gathering Tools, since they tended to be based around that particular story-arc and were exclusive to the store.
10 Days of Black Lion Sales – Begins August 23
Starting at 12:01AM PT on Friday, August 23, each day for 10 consecutive days we’ll be bringing back items and weapon skins that had limited sales during the first year of Guild Wars 2.This is in such poor taste. I still can not even believe they are doing this.
I’m assuming you didn’t read the many threads begging for the return of these items. ANet is attempting to cater to the player base. Nuff said.
You are aware that it’s possible to convert gold to gems, right? It’s not making people spend actual money on gems.
We will get them back, chill.
Or you can just talk to Vorrp in DR with any other character on your account and receive another communicator.
It can be that easy sometimes!
^^^^ This…
The stat simply disappears. You got your value out of it, you should be happy with it. Salvage for ecto if you want.
Actually it won’t simply be deleted. Anet has already said that the stat would be replaced by something else, and that somehow players would be compensated for loss of MF on their gear. However, they haven’t yet said what that compensation would be.
Sometimes you have to do Chantry Of Secrets twice, I’ve heard. Try going back to it and see if that works.
