Yak’s Bend Server
Crimethink [ct]
I recently completed Twilight for my Charr guardian. I don’t know if this is typical, but for me the effects of the sword have actually replaced the normal animation particle effects for my GS attacks. Instead of the usual “blue” effect you get the trailing effect from the sword. I think you may have been seeing older videos, since some of the more recent patches have made it so that legendary particle effects replace any standard ones from normal weapons.
You can always try it, and if you do I recommend using a Black Lion kit. However, I don’t think it’s possible.
I mentioned on another thread that you may want to consider making it an Aquatic weapon, whatever the stats. Given how terrible Aquatic weapons are anyway, any Ascended replacement would be a huge improvement.
Thank you, Inculpatus! I knew I’d seen that response somewhere but couldn’t find it.
There is one and only one way I would think about mounts in this game, and that would be if they were purely cosmetic and offered no advantages what so ever… such as the broom and sonic drill.
The Molten Alliance dungeon will be returning as a part of Fractals.
Technically the Hall of Monuments is available to anyone. There’s an NPC in LA that gives away the portal stones for the place. However, I do like the idea of having access to past skins.
There’s another one in cursed shore that’s like that. Only reason I got it is because someone else happened by. We took turns distracting the champ so we could both get the point.
I know that at some point an ANet employee will be reading this thread. Would it be possible for an official response, in the hopes that people will quit griping over this?

Hi again. Ticket number is 67628. Person hasn’t heard anything back yet about a password reset.
Lexy is correct. Karma consumables got a 50% increase, and any kind of Karma boost now only affects event rewards.
Well, ArenaNet should introduce a global filter for the word ‘gold’ and automatically replace it with ‘4-slot leather bag’. Imagine the spam messages after that
“I need to buy more 4-slot leather bag ores.”
“Why do you need 4 slot bags? Don’t you have capped armorsmith for 20 slot bags?”
“No, I need 4-slot leather bag ore to make the ingots.”
“Ingots? You need Ori, not leather.”
“No! I’m trying to cap jeweler!”
“Then what do you need leather for? Jewelers can’t even make bags.”
“Argh!”…This could be a problem.
A problem? Yes… but it’d be funny as heck!
Hmm, let me see… Exp boosters? I have more than 10 in my bank and they’re just sitting there… 18 slot bags? I make em for breakfast… Legacy armor? I’ve got two sets off the gem store already. Basically these items are readily available to veteran players already and have been for quite a while, and rather cheaply I might add. ANet is running a PROMOTION for crying out loud. It’s something to entice new players to the game. Veteran players are no more entitled to promotional items than new players are entitled to the Hero’s Band. Companies do this sort of thing all the time, especially game companies. Heck, one F2P game I used to play (which shall remain nameless because it sucked terribly) has sent me e-mails offering me tons of free stuff just to get me to come back! ANet is not the first to offer a promotion like this, won’t be the last, and other companies don’t offer promotional items to veteran players either.

Hi Gaile. 75690 and 9271 are ticket numbers for a player that is having issues with a password reset. His original ticket was sent in on Oct. 26.

I’m posting two ticket numbers, though both may be for the same person. Apparently they’re having trouble with e-mail authentication. 1) Request #22378 “Account authentication e-mail”
2) Request #37616 “Account authentication e-mail”I am convinced that your friend is caught in a cycle where he submits a ticket but never gets a response. Here is what an agent wrote him:
Thanks for getting back to us.
It’s possible that you have placed us on a block/black list. Please check your webmail and/or email client settings to ensure that “ArenaNet noreply@guildwars2.com” isn’t blocked. If you have blocked a similar sender, I would suggest unblocking it as it’s possible that your provider is detecting incoming mail with similar domain and is blocking those as well.
I would also suggest accessing your email directly through the email provider’s web page, and not through a mail reader (such as Outlook or Thunderbird) or a mobile device (such as a smart phone or tablet) since these sometimes do not receive messages that have been flagged as spam. Double-check your spam folder to make sure the message isn’t in there.
You can also set up a filter or “safe sender” in your mail account to prevent our messages from being sent to spam. Please set up a filter for both of the following domains: @ncsoft.com and @guildwars2.com
If your email provider does not have a safe senders feature, adding these emails (support@ncsoft.com and noreply@guildwars2.com) to your contacts list may also prevent them from being blocked by spam filters.
Now, at this point, I’m wondering if he needs to disable authentication. This is not a step to take lightly, and obviously we’d need to verify ownership of the account and so forth, before undertaking that step. Would you kindly ask him if that’s the option he wants to take? If so, can he respond to this ticket — #12813 — or does he have nothing to which he can respond? If he can’t respond, then have him create a new ticket — something I very seldom recommend but this is an exception — and have him let the team know of his preferences. Ask that he please include the numbers of all his other tickets, too, as a partial form of verification and as a means for us to close all of them out as we help him.
If I need to relay info, will do so, but hopefully the tips in the email from the support agent will do the trick.
Hi Gaile. Unfortunately I’m unable to relay this message. I often assist people from the Facebook page by posting their ticket numbers here, and unfortunately, given how many times I’ve done so, I have no idea who it was that asked me to submit this to you. I deeply apologize for this
Another thing you might consider is using it as an Aquatic weapon. Let’s face it, Aquatic weapons usually aren’t very good to begin with, so any Ascended replacement would probably be better than what you have.
But an exotic weapon being better than a rare is O.K.?
General availability of exotic gear makes it ok. If ascended gear was obtainable at comparable prices and in all the same multitude of ways as exotics, it would also be ok. Unfortunately, it isn’t.
It’s not the fact that they weren’t there at launch that makes ascended a problem, but the cost and effort required to get them.
Now this is an argument that I can get behind. Honestly, I have to agree that the overall cost of Ascended gear IS a bit much. Not only the cost for the raw material itself but actually getting the necessary crafting discipline to 500 costs a lot, not only in the way of gold but also in Karma. Honestly I wish they’d reverse the Karma nerf so that at least then we’d have less grind to worry about for oby shards.
You’re also forgetting about salvaging, which can produce a great deal more raw material than gathering and in a shorter amount of time. You get more than luck from all those blues and greens, ya know.
There’s a possibility it’s a bug. I recommend making a post in that forum to let developers know about it.
Honestly I consider us lucky to have had Rare breathing apparatuses made available, and honestly the stat combo for that is a heck of a lot better than the Gavbeorn. As for skins, besides the skins for both of those masks, there IS a Consortium skin that you can get from the TP, and it’s pretty cheap… though honestly it’s ugly as heck.
1. The argument that it goes against the “play how you want” philosophy is invalid because, in all honesty, Ascended armor is NOT required or even necessary to play competitively in WvW. If you don’t believe me, someone already made the micro/macro argument far better than I ever could. Ultimately, the only real reason to craft Ascended ANYTHING is because you WANT it, not because you absolutely have to have it in order to be competitive.
2. Up-levels in WvW actually means a great deal, because it means that no matter what the level a player is, it still adds to the overall strength of the server, both offensively and defensively.
3. Whether or not WvW was meant to be unbalanced or not is irrelevant, because it always has been right from the start, and shows no sign of changing.
4. WvW is actually meant to be impacted by many aspects of PvE, and it was intentionally designed that way. If you don’t believe me, then ask yourself why ANY equipment from PvE is allowed in WvW? Why is WvW required for Map Completion? Why are 4 huge jumping puzzles from WvW not placed in their own category? Why are there harvest points on every map? Why are there NPC enemies that can be defeated as well as players? Why are there skill points, PoI’s, Waypoints, Vistas? These are all aspects of PvE, not PvP. I’m sorry, but all the evidence points to ANet intending WvW to be an aspect of PvE.
5. Food is one of the few readily available consumable buffers in game, and it’s meant to be used as such, therefor certain balancing aspects around it DO have to be made, or at least included. Whether or not you use it doesn’t matter, it’s still a huge aspect of the game and should NEVER be discounted.
I’m pretty indifferent when it comes to ascended equipment of any kind. I’ll admit, I want it, but for one character and one character only. Said character already has all ascended trinkets and one legendary weapon. Said character also has map complete and will have a commander tag, along with a second legendary and ascended weapons, and will have ascended armor. Why? Because I want one completely badkitten character strictly for bragging rights, and nothing else… any questions?
I still find it ironic that people use WvW as an argument against Ascended equipment. They cite statistics, percentages, and such, but fail to remember one important thing… and that is that the one on one encounters do not matter in a mode of play that’s designed around group siege warfare. In the end, in WvW, the server with the biggest zerg wins.

I use this site to find out if a temple is open. It’s actually pretty good. http://www.gw2state.com/temples.html
This should be in the Suggestion forum, but I agree, it’s a good idea.
I’ve done Sanctum Sprint and other activities on a couple occasions and never got Glory or any PvP rankings… where are you getting this info from?
the skin of the shortbow is terrible for a legendary compared to other legendaries
If all you’re looking to do is change the skin then I recommend making an ascended short bow. If you do what you’re proposing it’ll loose its status as a legendary weapon and you won’t be able to change the stats on it. On top of that, you will loose a lot of the visual effects.
This site usually lets you know what temples are open and which are closed. Since this is update day there’s a bit of a communications issue but it’s pretty reliable. http://www.gw2state.com/temples.html
Why would you transmute a legendary now anyway? You can change the stats when you’re not in combat so there’s no point.
All you need to have is their e-mail address. If you get the game from their website the purchase process asks for an e-mail address to be used for the account. If you have their address just have it sent there and they’ll get it.
mercury is pretty much correct, the benefits from either infusion are negligible at best. Either a stat boost infusion or the Karma infusion would be better. I’d recommend the Karma since it’s the only permanent booster at this point.
I see trees of green… red roses too! I see them bloom for me and you, and I think to myself…. what a wonderful world!

I’m posting for a player who contacted me through facebook. Ticket number 49217. Player has not been receiving authentication e-mails.
Hi All. I know that I can get from 400 to 425 just by refining Ori and Ancient Wood, but what is an easy and fairly inexpensive way to finish getting Artificer to 500? I’ve tried looking for guides but all of them are rather pricy and none are very straight forward. Any advice appreciated!
I honestly don’t think this would work very well. The primary reason being that the gems store is geared towards selling items to the individual player. If you had to buy a guild hall with gems, who foots the bill? The person buying the guild “kit” would be the owner of the guild hall instead of the guild owning the guild hall. Once it’s instituted, getting a guild hall by influence makes a lot more sense, because essentially everybody in the guild has contributed towards it.
If you’re using legendaries for both main hand and off hand, the main hand weapon takes precedence as far as footfalls are concerned.
Arikyali, the absolute fastest way I know to level a character is through crafting. However, since you plan to delete the character in question, I don’t recommend this as it’s a waste of resources. The only other way to level relatively quickly is to do WvW.
So much for the two hour maintanence window and keeping us informed. Two and half hour and counting.
The announcement in game said 3 hours. If you go by that they still have a 25 minute window.
Less than an hour.
Also, there’s a way to save your IP settings from your account profile on the GW2 website so that you don’t have to authenticate each time.
Servers are currently down for maintenance and will be back up, most likely, in less than an hour.
I feel I should second this, and also congratulate the people of ANet who regularly check over the forums and have somehow managed to maintain some level of sanity. It can’t be easy, reading some of the stuff in here. Props and Kudos!
In game they said the maintenance was “unexpected” and would last for 3 hours. That was about 25 minutes ago as of this post.

Guardian: Include a signet or trait that gave %25 speed increase like rangers and elementalists have.
Magic Find doesn’t actually affect chests. It only affects the random drops you get from defeating enemies.
I agree Vayne, I agree.
I think people tend to forget this sort of thing because they’re so used to the end result. People would do well to remember that GW1 wasn’t perfect either.
Hi Veprovina. There is actually a separate Mac client that can be downloaded from the site and used without Wine. I know that doesn’t answer your question concerning Linux.
I should point out that ANet does not support GW2 on the Linux OS. It’s possible that fellow players might be able to help you with settings for optimal performance, but from what I’ve read in the past low FPS should be expected.
