This…. is actually a good idea! Now all ANet would have to do is add more town clothes to the gem store, clothes that actually look halfway decent. (Always hated the default Charr clothes)
And I quote… “Rumors tell of a merchant interested in items from major events in Tyria’s recent history, including Blade Shards. Players are encouraged to hold on to these items if they are interested in trading with her when she appears.” Meaning she will be appearing, but hasn’t yet.
TL;DR I liked the living story, don’t care about your opinion of it, blah blah blah blah yakkity schmakitty blah blah blah.
For the most part ascended equipment (minus trinkets) still have to be crafted. They did, however, increase the drop rate in Fractals, though ascended armor has a higher rate.
I highly doubt they’ll do stat resets on celestial gear, especially since they already said they’d be compensating by slightly increasing all other stats. “To compensate, we’re increasing the overall effectiveness of Celestial gear by improving all stats by 6% of their current values.”
Where are you even getting this information? I thought they released Trait info and that was it for now? Is the another announcement that isn’t posted here yet?
If not, stop worrying about something you don’t know will happen maybe?
They’re releasing more news bit by bit. Keep an eye here. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/feature-packs/
Not only is ANet giving the majority populace what they asked for, but they’re also including an alternative acquisition method (buying them) if you don’t want to hunt the traits down.
In order to receive any of the Hall of Monuments bonuses, yes, you need to buy and play Guild Wars 1. However, you do get 3 points just for linking the accounts.
Warkupo, you’re not taking into account that the vast majority of players aren’t going to populate maps without having a material reason for doing so. In some cases, yes, people will go to help friends, but if you want to move players there en mass then you need to have a rewarding reason for doing so. Remove that incentive and either people will avoid the zone entirely or just quit playing because there is no rewarding reason for doing so. Enzeru’s idea is good, but it would only work for a short time. People might enter the area for a while, but like with the world bosses, would leave just as quickly since there’s no reason to stay. However, as I recall, your original case was trying to bring people into the Orrian maps. Honestly, the best way to do that would be, not to make lower level maps less rewarding, but to make higher level maps more rewarding. I know that technically the temples are meant to do that, but without a more consistent reward people aren’t likely to start pouring in. If ANet increased the drop rate for t6 mats or added more champs, then maybe it would pull more people in.
Becka Williams, there are very limited options if any for removing that champ train. The first and most obvious is to remove the champs entirely. However, 5/6 of those champs are tied to group events, which would mean removing the events as well. I highly doubt that would serve ANet’s interests. Another would be to change the spawn times for those events. This would work, but only for a short time. Someone would eventually figure out a pattern again and re-start the train.

Warkupo, that would completely defeat the purpose of down-scaling. If you remove any incentive for players to go to maps other than what’s level appropriate, nobody would ever go to low level zones for any reason. Changing how the down-scaling works is much more appropriate.
Keep an eye on the future blog releases and see.
The problem isn’t the down-scaling, it’s the lack of incentive, as Enzeru said. Queensdale isn’t full because of down-scaling, it’s full because there’s a group of regularly occurring champions there. If you or ANet want’s players to move to underused maps, you have to give players a good reason to go there.
Doc Halvern is gone… along with his Krait Oil… too bad
Because we want to talk about the size of those tubers and the color of rice balls and the sound of kittens
Rub some bacon on it and it’ll be fine.
Aetherblades are still around too, in the jumping puzzle, TA, and EotM.
Could someone please close/lock/delete this thread? It’s not constructive and inviting a lot of arguments and insults.
And maybe she’ll be taking other trophy items such as map scraps and soggy bags that we’ve been saving since LS started.
Sprocket Generator if you got it in your home instance, possibly Aetherblades in the jumping puzzle and in Edge of the Mists, but that’s unconfirmed by me.
Anybody else but me glad Doc Halvern is dead? I hate Krait Oil!

It is our responsibility as players to gather as much information of the going’s on in game as possible. Personally, I watch the forums and FB page very carefully. I’ll admit I don’t watch Twitter or Reddit. That being the case, it’s my fault if I miss something on Twitter or Reddit, and I’ll take responsibility for missing anything there. MY FAULT! That being said, it’s our responsibility to do the research, and we’ve only ourselves to blame if we miss something.
DON’T DESTROY ANYTHING!!!! The patch notes mentioned a merchant will appear for LS items, including blade shards. It didn’t say that it was only for blade shards. Previous LS items may be traded as well. So DON’T destroy anything yet!

I’ve saved every event item since LS started because I wasn’t sure if they’d come in handy or not. It’s been my experience never to get rid of ANYTHING until you’re absolutely certain it’s worthless.
I didn’t get to see it either, but now that it’s getting reported they’ll fix it.
Honestly, from what I’ve observed Asura don’t particularly care about whether or not they have a full head of hair. Personal appearance has nothing to do with personal genius.
Danikat, that’s not entirely true. It’s possible to get blades from the Sprocket Generator if you have it, but it’s a very slow process. Nimrud, farm the blades now while you have the chance.
We won’t know until Tuesday when the patch comes out. Till then your guess is as good as anyone elses.
The official word is no, but there are those who would argue that point.
I’m afraid not. Race change would affect your personal story and racial skills, among other things, so you’re not allowed to change that. You can change your looks, gender, even your character name, but you can’t change race or profession.
Hello Shawn, and welcome back to the game! If you’re looking for a guild in Yak’s Bend feel free to contact me in game. My guild [ct] is usually on in the evenings EST but if that interests you, feel free to drop me a line.
Another thing you could consider is using it as an aquatic weapon. I know that won’t help much while on land but if you have no other use for the stats, it’ll still likely be better than anything you have now.
Please don’t delete them!
You can hold on to your extra blade shards, as the team will be adding something later which will allow you to convert the shards to something of value. Dev will be announcing more on that later. Thanks!
Hmmmm, perhaps I should begin farming for these again!
You don’t use the trading post much, huh? Those prices aren’t static, and are set by our fellow players. It’s not possible for ANet to send cost notices about a player controlled market.
As far as skins go this might not be such a bad idea, and would allow for greater customization… however, if you were to also take the defense rating into account, I can see the uproar clear as crystal. Anyone with exotic/ascended would feel completely cheated because suddenly the equipment they have is obsolete due to heavy having the highest armor rating and they’ve spent hard earned resources making armor in their weight class. I’d support the possibility of skin changes, but not the armor class itself. It’d cause too many problems.
Honestly I prefer the whole Dynamic Event system over your standard quest system any day. One thing I absolutely hated about Guild Wars was having a mile long list of quests that I really didn’t want to do and had nothing to do with what I wanted for my character. In the end I cleared the whole list and just ran around. The system in GW2 is far more to my preference. If I want, I can participate, if I don’t, I can walk away.
This isn’t the first time skins from GW1 have been offered from the Weapon Trader, and it won’t be the last. If anything, this wasn’t a bash against players from the first game, but rather a tribute to them, to give them a taste of home, as it were. There will be other skins coming from GW1 again, I’ll bet. Relax and enjoy them, and be glad ANet is trying to bring them back at all.
Firstly, what is “better” is purely a matter of personal opinion. In all honesty, Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 both have their good and bad points. Considering the overall design though, and despite the fact they are part of the same series, the two really aren’t comparable. I’ll say this, I like Guild Wars, and I like Guild Wars 2. But I don’t find one to be “better” than the other.
Eh, rub some bacon on it and you’ll be fine
I honestly don’t mind the RNG system per say, however I do wish it favored me a bit more sometimes. Anyway, my opinion is that no matter what game, you’ll always have people who want all the good stuff with as little time/effort/pain as possible just so they can look totally badkitten and the bragging rights to go with it, so when the system in place doesn’t favor them in this manner they throw a fit. I also believe that this group tends to be rather small, just incredibly loud. Seriously, I think they invest in bullhorns just so they can shout louder.
This item isn’t even available in the Gem Store anymore anyway, only as an occasional drop from the Black Lion Chest. Even then, there was no real advantage to it, since most people who do trait resets also have full armor sets that would go with the new build. I can’t speak for everybody, but carrying around a full set of alternative armor, weapons, and trinkets to go with a new build would take up a lot if inventory space better kept for loot.
Hey thanks for the answers, sounds like celestial is not something to aim for on a first character
That leads me to a last question , if getting the bazaar ambassador reward is not actually possible and labyrinthine cliffs are not accessible then where are we supposed to find quartz crystals ?
Everything I find on internet seems to say that quartz crystals are only obtainable by those 2 methods.
Thanks
The quartz crystals themselves are not account bound, and can be purchased from the trading post. However, keep in mind that it takes 25 of them to make a charged crystal, and only one can be made per day, and you’ll need 30 of them for a full set of exotic armor.
They’ll appear on the other side of the instance. They aren’t where the 3 specialty nodes appear. You have to walk around the horseshoe.
No mounts. The game has a perfectly good waypoint system for getting around.
ANet would be shooting themselves in the foot if they raised the level cap at this point. People who have worked very hard for exotic and ascended gear would suddenly find all their work, money, and materials rendered obsolete. I can’t think of a faster way for ANet to loose most of it’s player base than to raise the level cap. They’ve done a lot of things with the game. Much of it has been good, some of it bad, some good but badly implemented. Raising the level cap though would be monumentally farbot.
I am NOT missing this! I will drink buckets of coffee! Gallons of Amp! I don’t care, I refuse to miss this!!!
I’ll be completely honest, I’m glad ANet did this. There have been plenty of times I’ve forgotten that my tag is up when I wasn’t using it, and found myself running around maps and then noticed people following me. I don’t like keeping my tag up unless I’ve got reason to use it, and I’m grateful for the reminder.
Since the whole Ascended chest thing is RNG based, it’s unlikely it will be replaced with something more to your liking. However, one thing I’ve suggested on many occasions is to consider making it an aquatic weapon. Given how underpowered most aquatic weapons are, just about anything would be an improvement, even if it’s a stat combo you wouldn’t normally use.
It’s not a bug. Rubi Bayer posted the promotion announcement on the facebook page.
With respect to the moderator, this thread has nothing to do with the black lion trading company.
I don’t remember where, but this has been brought up before. It’s not possible for ANet to merge accounts.
