Not sure if the O kitten ious about these buffs…

In general I don’t think Kick fits the Warrior at all. You want to stay on your target with all your melee weapons, not help him to get away. Maybe the whole skill should be changed to some kind of CC (Immobilize, Knockdown, etc.) which actually helps to do this.

6-8% damage boost for both weapons sets for only 15 points still seems too strong imo. Obviously you would need a lot of points into Tactics and/or some other way of additional Boon Duration but that’s what the ele has to do aswell to have the same effect. Eles have 8-10% bonus damage most of the time because the whole build is about boons (traits in other trait lines, runes, etc.). Although I think warriors are more susceptible to boon removal which means it would not be as strong as the ele trait.

Empowered Allies is still way too good. Yes, the 10 point trait is not very popular but that does not mean it should be a 5 point minor trait. Like I said before Spotter (which is the exact same trait with Precision instead of Power) is a 20 (!) point trait. Besides that the +Power does not fit the trait line anyway.

I do understand that the OP wants to make the minor traits more attractive but in this case the suggestions are too strong and/or do not fit the trait line.

This video is disheartening.

Imo the traits are all too strong.

Empowered Allies
Way too good for 5 points. Before your buff you needed 10 points for the same effect (Empower Allies), 20 if you want something similar as a Ranger (Spotter). I am not sure why it is Power in the Tactics trait line anyway.

Empowered
Again, way too good. Eles have the exact same trait for 25 points (Bountiful Power) and even there people are complaing about it being too powerful.

Indomitable
Nothing to say about this one. A 6 (!) set bonus as a minor trait is way over the top.

The minor traits definitely need some buffs but not this one.

Great write-up. Just so you guys know, we’re trying to bring down the cantrip Ele, while also being careful to let other Ele builds work. We don’t want to just take all Ele’s out of play, but we do need to bring a few things down (traits/skills) in efficacy.

@PinCushion.7390

“Elementalist takes just as much skill as Necro to be “good,” but takes far less skill to not be terrible.”
This is basically true imo. If you use the bunker build you can be pretty strong by just using all your skills once they are off CD. If you use any other build though it is the complete opposite.

Warrior Signet rework.

in Warrior

Blackhat.4016

I really like the ideas so far but some buffs are a little over the top.

Dolyak Signet
I am absolutely fine with this buff. Kinda reminds me of Signet of Judgment.

Healing Signet
463 is a little too much imo. Currently it is at 200 if I remember correctly. I would buff the healing to 300 and increase the scaling with Healing Power. That way burst builds would not be bunker like and bunker builds would be more effective.

Signet of Fury
10% more critical chance is too strong. Instead it should increase precision by 90 (just like Signet of Agility and Signet of Fire) and the CD should be reduced to 20 or 25 seconds.

Signet of Might
10% more damage is a lot for a single utiltiy skill. Instead the CD should be reduced to 20 seconds.

Signet of Stamina
Imo you don’t need more endurance as a warrior. Opponents can kite you because of conditions which means the condition removal should be buffed. Either reduce the CD or change it to something like Signet of Resolve.

Signet of Rage
I am not sure about the passive. Although I like it it does not improve the current situation. I would most likely keep the old passive and change the active part. Reduce the CD to 30 seconds and the fury, might, and swiftness duration to 15 or 20 seconds. Boon removals would be less effective against warriors without making them completely useless.

Signet Mastery
Way too strong even for a grandmaster trait. You would only need 30 points to get all those huge buffs. Instead I would change the trait to this:

Signets recharges 20% faster. All signets have no casting time.

That way you could use the signets during combat which means you can stick to your target more easily without having to wait. I am not sure if it should be an Adept or Master trait though.

Don’t listen to the trolls above. Here is what you should do:

Create both and try them out in Hot Joins. Depending on which one you like better you should choose your next character.

Unless you are playing on a high tPvP level it doesn’t matter which profession you are playing. Any profession can be successful in Hot Joins/WvW (yes, even warriors) as long as you know how to play your build and how to counter the other builds.

When it comes to PvE they are both good and welcome in most groups.

I wouldn’t post this thread in the necro or ele forum. Necro players will tell you you need more skill to be able to play a necro and ele players will do the same for eles. Instead you should use this forum:

Reason Behind Warrior Buffs

@pot.6805
Let me explain what I mean:

Warriors have been weak when it comes to PvP for a long time => people start complaining.

NOW they are trying to do something about it. This is what the picture the OP posted is about. Anet tries to find some way to improve the worst builds. And there are still people QQ about this. Yes, I am talking to you aswell:

He has to be trolling right? Right guys!?!?!

I simply don’t understand what’s wrong about trying to improve the signet build. I hope you want a balanced warrior as well which means they need to buff the signet build. Period.

Ranger beats Elementalist! News at 11:00.

Blackhat.4016

Any profession can beat another profession if you are better than your opponent (yes, even warriors).

Let me quote the more important parts for you:

“I’m still fairly new to being a level 80” => not a lot of experience
“wiped out 3 of us” => 3 new players when it comes to PvP
“start working on my Ranger again” => most likey does not know a lot about Rangers

In this case I would say the OP needs more PvP experience.

In general D/D bunker eles are not invincible. Rangers can do very well against them, especially if you are more experienced and know what you are doing.

Here are a few things which help a lot against D/D bunkers:

- burst
- boon removal
- CC (Immobilize, Knock Down,…)
- forcing the ele to use his cantrips
- knowing the ele skill rotations (especially the water skills because they are mainly used for healing)

Things which do not help a lot in most cases:

- low damage output
- condition builds (there are simply to many condition removals)

If you include some of the things mentioned above in the build you should have no problems against most players. Anyway, unless you are playing on a “professional” level you should just play the build you enjoy the most.

Traits: Condition Removal from Dodge

  • Ranger: 30 Trait Points, Major Grandmaster Trait, Evasive Purity - Dodging removes blind and poison from you.
  • Elementalist: 20 Trait Points, Major Master Trait, Stop Drop and Roll - Dodge rolling removes burning and chilled.
  • Thief: 20 Trait Points, Major Master Trait, Fleet of Foot - Dodging removes cripple and weakness from you.

I would add “30 Trait Points, Major Grandmaster Trait, Evasive Arcana - Dodging in Water Attunement removes one condition” to the elementalist part.

@SwickHobo.5096

I agree with you about rangers having less viable condition removals than eles and that the bunker build is a little to strong right now. Why would you correct Arheundel.6451 and then write the exact same bs about eles though?

  • “Stop Drop and Roll” – Nobody uses this trait. And I mean nobody.
  • “Healing Rain” – Staff in PvP? Good luck with that.
  • “Magnetic Wave” – Focus in PvP? Good luck with that.
  • “Cleansing Fire” – This one is ok but most players I know prefer Lightning Flash as their 3rd utility skill.
  • “Signet of Water” – No comment on this one…

=> “They have sooooo many options and all of them are viable w/o having to give up anything.”

Also not true. You have to spend 30 points in Water and Arcana and use 3 (!) cantrips to have all the condition removal. You give up the majority of your damage output for this. At the same time there is no other viable build which Anet already mentioned in the last SotG.

Like I said before I agree that the bunker build is a little too strong right now but at the same time every other build is pretty bad compared to other professions. Anet needs to find a good balance between nerfs/buffs for the ele.

I am pretty sure they have a warrior at Anet. Even if they don’t have someone who is only there to improve the warrior I think they still want the game to be balanced. Why? Very simple:

Balanced game => satisfied customers => more money

Currently they need to improve a lot but they already announced they want to buff the warriors.

@Vanthian.9267

You are not invulnerable while using RTL, travel 1200 units (just like rush), deal less single target damage and you can miss the target if it moves. Yes, you travel really fast and it is not affected by snares. @Wildclaw.6073

I do agree. The other utility skills are pretty bad (there are 1 or 2 exceptions) compared to cantrips or utility skills other professions have. I think cantrips are good skills though. They all offer something useful and break stun. Especially Mist Form is very versatile.

Imo nerfing the cantrips is not the right way to nerf eles. There are other things like certain water/arcana traits and skills they should focus on while also buffing the useless ones.

I think you got something wrong. Warrior is definitely not the worst profession for WvW. It is the worst one for tPvP though.

You can run anything in WvW. Try out different weapon sets and traits. If you run around alone the PvE 100b build works just fine to kill single targets and if you can’t kill them you can just “disengage”.

For coordinated teams hammer builds can be really useful (love the CC there) and shout builds are also nice. Like I said before, any weapon set works. Besides that the banners are also really good!

If you want a specific build use google. There are hundreds of guides out there.

Arcana/Water has the highest survivability and still nice damage output. Especially Bountiful Power and the additional Boon Duration help a lot when it comes to DPS!

There is no best weapon. Staff has nice AoE and CC, scepter has good damage and can stack Might easily and D/D is mainly used for mobility and defense (although it can be used for damage as well). Every weapon is good for PvE but for PvP I would recommend D/D or S/D. Staff is not that great for PvP.

I hope this helps.

There was pretty much no chance for a burst build without quickness to win against an opponent with quickness (if they are equally skilled ofc). Another example is Time Warp. If a single Mesmer with that skill is able to win you a team fight this means it was simply too strong.

I will look at the traits again after the patch tomorrow and will most likely update the guide this weekend if I have enough time!

I also like Inscription but I don’t think the trait is as strong as something like Written in Stone. You also only gain the buffs from time to time because Glyphs have high CDs. Elemental Attunement is stronger in most cases because you get the buffs more often and also grant them to your team. Soothing Disruption is rated to high compared to it though. It should be a 4 instead of 5.

I will look at the trait after the patch though! Maybe I like it better then.

Imo the skill is already balanced. It’s a good engage/disengage skill which eles really need (especially non bunker eles). If it is only an engage skill non bunker eles are basically one shot kills who can’t escape which means there would be even more bunkers.

And why would that make other off hand weapons more viable? Because you change one skill? I would much rather see a focus buff instead of an RTL nerf.

Elementalists aren't hard to play.

in Elementalist

Blackhat.4016

There are more CDs during combat, skill rotations, combos and so on for eles simply because we have more skills to use.

Every profession needs to know how to properly engage and disengage but imo this is especially true for eles because we can be bursted down really fast (unless we use one of our Cantrips). You are right though, this applies to all available classes.

I also think we have more than one viable build but when it comes to traits we are very limited (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/elementalist/Guide-Rating-Elementalist-traits/first#post1687234 if you want to know why I think this way).

You forgot to mention CDs during combat, skill rotations, combos, proper engage and disengage, etc.

Saying a profession has a low skill cap because it lacks build diversity is a pretty bad argument imo. Yes, you have to play less builds but that doesn’t mean you don’t have to know about the other traits/skills. If you want to master your profession you need to know all these things.

Even bunker builds don’t have a lot of room for errors if you play against skilled players. You can kill any bunker within seconds if they don’t know what they are doing. Besides that every build has room for errors.

I do agree about the glass cannon eles though. Currently those builds aren’t that great.

Blackhat.4016

You can burst down any build/profession if you know how and when to use your burst skills. It’s not like you have to blow all your skills once you are able to hit your enemy.

Besides that what’s the point of playing a bunker build if you can’t heal yourself? You trade the majority of your damage for a strong heal. Like I said before you are still able to kill him. Maybe not if it is a full bunker vs full bunker fight but once a team mate shows up one of them will most likely die. It is only annoying to play against because it takes more time and skill to play against a “non one-shot kill”.

The huge burst is only a problem if you play GC vs GC. One of them will die within the next few seconds. If you play a semi bunker or full bunker you can out sustain the burst and poke them to death after. :P

Removing the out of combat regeneration would make the fights more interesting but at the same time really frustrating. Imagine winning against your enemy and after a few seconds the next foe comes to you. Instead of equal chances for both of you you would only have 50% of your HP. A smart player would run now which means there would be no fight at all.

@rayzer.4981 like Gorni.1764 said 70 Trait points is the maximum. After that you will only get more Skill points which you can use to buy more skills or some items (e.g. a Bloodstone Shard which you need for your Legendary).

@Gorni.1764 I did not try it myself but this is what I found on the official wiki:

“This extends the length of the attunement after switching to another attunement. For instance, switching from Fire Attunement to Water Attunement will keep the Fire Attunement effect for 5 seconds instead of disappearing immediately. This is relevant to the adept minor traits. "

Maybe this helps.

Besides that I think you can use Piercing Shards with other attunements if you switch to water fast enough. For example if you attack a vulnerable foe with Meteor Shower and switch to water while the meteors keep hitting the damage should be increased.

And yes, you heared right self-rezz.^^ I didn’t try it myself but a friend told me about it. Sounds like a lot of fun.

For high fractals (30+) I use a staff and armor depending on the group.

For random groups I like to use P/T/V and for guild groups I use berserker. It really depends on if your group can protect you or not.

For the traits I run 0-10-0-30-30. The 30 points in water really help with your damage output and survivability. Especially Powerful Aura combined with Magnetic Aura help a lot in most fractals.

I guess you have to try your build and see if it is good enough. I personally don’t like burst builds for high fractals because the enemies have a lot of HP and won’t die quickly.
