I use dagger dagger for leveling and wouldn’t have it any other way op, but that’s me I enjoy the power playstyle, if you prefer more of a conditions playstyle then scepter/dagger or scepter/focus,warhorn.

I just want to start this thread to say thank you for your communications on the forums and hard work in the game. It is honestly unbelievable how outstanding you customer communication through the forums has been. I have observed posters from MANY different departments from developers to staff, and as a customer and more so as a man/person there is nothing I appreciate more than this. Everyone I have talked to have had nothing but good things to say about the communication. Your level of commitment to the game and more importantly those who play it is unrivaled by any MMO company I have met so far, from me (a lowly player) thank you.

I know it can be a chore to post on the forums some times but please do not lose this mentality. I understand it is frustrating and aggravating having people constantly bash something you are working hard on. The communication has been phenomenal so far thanks.

Dos anyone know if there isany special aggro table for Lupicus? I fought him for the first time last night pug group (took 3 hrs) but he would absolutely NOT attack anyone else But me (I’m a Necro) while I was alive, it was to the point where he would shadow step to me twice in a row? Killing both my dodges, then he would “auto-attack” me immediately after words, I had a Sigil of energy but even that was not enough dodges, he just would not attack anyone else.

Necro is a great class and a lot of fun to play.
Make on and enjoy it. Very few classes are able to do what we can do in PVE/dungeons and pvp. I rarely lose 1v1’s in SPVP and WvW.

Once you learn the class it will be very rewarding to play.

Yes we have a lot of bugs right now, but they will be fixed and the class will be evolving as the bugs are fixed so don’t worry.

Send this to the top of the forums, that’s insane damage, my power necro “nuke” hits for MAX 6k damage once every 2 weeks haha, usually around 3k-4k damage, and I thought I was doing decent damage.

I just read the warrior forums… I’m playing a power necro and thought my damage was decent, a warrior posted his highest rifle kill shot was 32k damage on a lvl 80 mob and 1.2million damage on a bunny or some white mob.

I would actually like to see some dungeon runs from a condition necro, or whatever spec your running (doesn’t have to be conditions) I’m interested in seeing how others are playing their necros in dungeons. I know I am loving mine in dungeons, its such a huge asset to a group to be able to pull heat of others, I’m running 30 0 20 (in toughness and protection on wells) 0 and 20 in death shroud tree, 25% slower burn in DS a slice blast pierce and vuln. So I’d definitely be interested in seeing other playstyles.

1 Copler Dungeon Loot and More

So yesterday I joined a pug dungeon group for COE explorer and after downing one of the bosses, the chest inside contained 1 copper and some blue items… 1 copper loot is kind of a slap in the face considering we had around a 5 silver repair bill…. Seeing 1 copper loot is actually way more frustrating than seeing 0 cash loot.

Another thing, I ran about 7 dungeons yesterday 4 in explorer from SE, COF, CM, and COE. Out of all these dungeons I didn’t receive any yellows/rare loot, Is this normal? How else am I supposed to obtain yellows/rares?

I know there have been multiple topics on this but I feel this is a legit issue and I’m trying to provide constructive criticism not pointless kittening.

Ah I see, thanks for the explanation, makes a lot more sense, I kind of thought it was a necro team that knew the class fixing the bugs, same with other classes and the game bugs. I don’t really blame them for having to fix a lot of bugs quickly, but like I said I thought it was a necro team.

Have you guys noticed after the recent patch fix to greater marks and chilblains, that now chillblains shows the correct size before cast when all of the other marks Aoe targeting remains original/small size??

Why can’t they do this for the other marks and have fixed that bug at the same time? Honestly and it sucks to say but I now know they are rushing through these bug fixes (I know there’s a lot in game besides necro). For them to fix the Aoe ground targeting in chilblains in this patch but not fix the others…

I’m not as easily amused as blueprintlfe. But then again i never was fond of sitting in net cafe’s watching other people play games while someone blares music. So unless it has a narrative or your doing something entertaining (or something i cant do myself) its hard for me to get into this. Time spent watching it i coulda been playing the game or getting drunk.

I’m already drunk maybe that’s why.

So aegis is not a boon?

Their class mechanic passively gives aegis on a long cool down, then it can be activated to immediately give another aegis, which puts it on a 90 sec? Cool down, then they have shouts as utilities that apply aegis, retreat! Definitely does not sure about the others, If you hear a guards took say Retreat! Aegis and swiftness will be up.

Fear Duration

Up he doom fear to two seconds and remove the 50% fear increase in the trait line and replace it with something else. As it is now 1.5 seconds on a fear isn’t even noticeable, and instead of buffing doom to 2 seconds and making the fear trait 33% (which would make the trait even More worthless) just get rid of it and replace it with something useful.

Make the thiefs AOE fear, AOE mind you, 1 second

I usually stack knights gear so I get some toughness, I am a big fan of toughness, I have done some pretty decent SPVP games against good players and obviously against bad players, I honestly can’t say I have had a problem really with any progression yet. Not to say I won’t, but I haven’t yet. Only if I get caught with moa but that just sucks in general

Mesmer Treb Killing, as a Necro

Well power build does wonders against mesmers on trebs. Mark the target mesmer, Pop well of suffering which ticks down the treb and will kill any clones and phantoms summoned while its up, then after that pop well of darkness to keep the next wave blinded. Death shroud for more Aoe to drop clones and corrupt boon, I haven’t had problems with a Mesmer yet with this build, Lich for for a back up if they moa you early. I run d/d and staff, the immobilize on the dagger is good for keeping the Mesmer in place and the 2 condition transfers on dagger and staff will keep the Mesmer confused and eating his own medicine. I also have a Mesmer alt that I played thoroughly so I understand the class on a decent level. Not a pro Mesmer by any means, but just learning their little tricks helps.

Completely agree with Minion of Vrey, no idea why I can’t quote anyone.
A power 1200 range weapon with a cc on it (like the staff fear) would be a great addition, I don’t mind the staff but its only because I have no other options…

I run an SPVP dual dagger build with 0 points in toughness or vitality, 30 in power 20 in Crit rating tree, and 20 in Crit damage tree and it wrecks faces, and I’m definitely not a glass cannon with all my survivability tools.

That’s not saying I wouldn’t love to put points in the toughness tree, but jagged horror minor trait puts us at such a disadvantage and it is terrible the jagged horror lasts maybe 5-8 seconds and enemies rally of it. Lol

Bug fixes

What do you expect to gain from this thread? Bug fixes are happening, immaturely raging is not doing anything good.

The game consists of more than just the necromancer, daily events, dungeons, fixing exploits these things have to happen as well for the better of the game.

Of course you can say and overs say “There shouldn’t be this many bugs its not beta!”
Well guess what? We have them. Nothing anyone will say will change that. There isn’t use saying its jot beta or there shouldn’t e this many bugs, because its not going to change a kitten thing. It is what it is, the sooner people realize this the better we all will be.

A few things though, your comments about necros wanting to do damage and that hey are king of DOTS is from other mmos forcing hat role upon the necro. In this game the necro can be whatever they want high damage, condition/dots/tanky any of those and Thank god for that because I honestly do not like pets or DOT style play and neither do many others.

2nd thing, and I don’t mean this to be kittenounding or anything, just an observation, I didn’t really see you doing too much support :/ definitely saw like you said the tankiness, or like we called them you were a bullet sponge, definitely saw you soaking up a lot of damage which is cool. If that’s what you meant by support in soaking up damage then I saw that, but support usually involves healing, removing conditions off allies and so on. Spectral grasp, wall, aren’t to big for support, maybe the wall for protection.

Other than that great bid thanks for sharing. There is no reason to hate on anyone that takes the time to make a vid and showcase their style of play.

Ahhh, well I heal for around 700 dmg every time I exit DS, which is why you will see me toggle it and move make seeming pointless dodges/movements in a direction. Next is my regeneration which ~275 HP/sec range, which I keep up constantly on allies between my runes and 4 ability. I also stack weakness and exposed rapidly.

You are right about Grasp, we had just finished another dungeon and I needed it to split a pull. I thought it could be used to peel and it wasnt effective.

Watch the start of 2nd, that is a better skill loadout. I select from a wide range of utilities based on group and fight mechanics. This group was very well rounded to boot and my signet to absorb conditions wasnt really needed. The darkness was for rezzing and armor to boost tanking. I dont really use traits that depend on utilities. Having close to 100% retaliation uptime seems to handle most situations.

Very well, knowing this makes the Video make A LOT more sense maybe if you put your spec at the top of the post with it so people understand why you are doing the things you do in the vid. Now I understand why you were popping In and of of DS, didn’t know you we’re specced for the heal, how do you like that btw? The heal decent?

Actually I really like spectral grasp and it can def be a big help on dungeons.

I run with a well spec (Which probably doesn’t help your ground targetting issues) however I don’t use staff. My Dungeon running build is as follows:
(I can’t find a working build calc at the moment for a link)

Traits:
30 curses: II, IV, XI – Increased bleed duration, wells use ground targetting, scepter skill conditions last longer
10 Death: IV – Wells apply protection
30 Blood: VI, VIII, XII – Life transfer heals allies, Wells recharge faster, Wells siphon health.

Main Weapons – Septer/Dagger
Swap – Axe/Focus

Heal – Consume Conditions
Utility:
Well of Suffering
Well of Darkness
Well of Power
Elite – Flesh Golem

This build provides a ton of group support and fairly decent DPS (Not counting inanimate objects like hell blossoms)

With your wells you can lock down groups of enemies with blinds, add weakness, and strip conditions off your teammates when needed.

If you need a quick group health top-up, Use Deathshroud 4 (Life transfer). The heal is actually pretty decent (Approx 240 × 9 over 3 seconds to your group). You don’t have to hit enemies with life transfer for the heal portion to work.

Fights start with Axe/Focus to add vulnerability and chilled, then swap to Scepter/Dagger to get the bleeds going. On large group pulls I will hit the group with well of darkness out of the gate to minimize incoming damage until the group is able to get some conditions stacked.

You have 3 ways of removing conditions from your self, so you can effectively tank 3-4 mobs without too much issue. Dagger 4 transfers up to 3 conditions to your enemy, Heal removes all conditions, and Well of power strips a condition every 5 seconds.

Wells also apply protection which helps reduce incoming damage to the group.

Suprisingly, this build is also pretty effective in sPVP when capping or holding a point as you can really mess with people for a long time. I can typically hold off about 4 people for 10-20 seconds which is usually enough time for reinforcements to arrive. I would swap out well of suffering for well of corruption to convert enemy boons into conditions. Highly effective against warriors and guardians.

I use the Golem as my elite basically as a DoT. it does pretty decent damage to a single target, and the charge is a great knockdown or interrupt when needed. Sometimes I’ll pop the golem simply to interrupt something even though I know it will die about 3 seconds later.

My only issue with this build is that it doesn’t generate a lot of life force unless you’re up against a pack of mobs, and that bleeds specifically don’t work against doors / walls / blossoms etc so you’re going to take a while to down anything like that on your own.

How is your damage without any power? I am looking for a dungeon build, I play a power Crit wells build with daggers now that doesn’t do bad, but I would really like to try the blood line, but without any points in spite how is your damage looking? I think I would have to try and work 15 points in the death shroud trait line (mind blank on the name) for the spectral armor at 50% that’s a great ability.

You just don’t add options or content because it messes up balance.

Balance is a continual changing thing, and if you don’t believe they should add new content because it will mess up balance, then I completely disagree. There would never be any expansions if they went by that mode of thinking.

And people aren’t complaining about thiefs and glass cannons because there is another mode of SPVP, people are complaining about balance because that’s WHAT THEY DO. People always complain when class X kills them. Balance could be perfect and some people would still think its wrong or this is OP, that’s just how it is. Yes SPVP might have inflated the complaints as more people are pvping on different skill levels, but you can’t exclude whole sections of playerbases because you afraid of messing up balance. Regardless balance complaints would of happened anyways. Tpvp would of eventually started with balance complaints once classes were played enough where people would have seen strengths and weaknesses. That’s how MMO’s go.

I don’t know if you read the part, but I’m completely happy with my necro minus the bugs. I love DS and have no problem doing damage on my necro. I was saying as an option for more players that are interested in damage. There is nothing wrong with options.

Completely agree with this. Minor Traits in no way should be linked to specific build types as this completely shoehorns the trait line into only being used in that build. I would love more toughness but I’m kitten sure not going to waste points on getting kittening jagged horrors or toughness per minion when I absolutely hate pets.

Hmm I understand your guys view, I personally am never standing still while fighting with he daggers, I am constantly circle strafing to the back of an opponent, so I don’t have an issue and I rather enjoy it, but I understand your points.

Well I enjoy the necro, but I’m not blind to the bugs, and I understand others wanting to play the necro differently. Some people just enjoy the necro class in general in any game.

Knowing this I really feel that there should be an option for necros that want to spec pure damage and forgoe deathshrouds survivability to up that damage. I understand with DS why we cannot have high damage, but I don’t think that should be forced on everyone. I seriously would like to see an option to use life force to boost damage by a large margin and in return completely forgoe the survivability gained from life force and DS.

This is one thing I absolutely love in this game is that any class can do any role, why should that stop at the necro?? I see players stating that the mecro will never have high damage and will never do more damage than other classes, and if you dont like it his isnt the class for you, why!? why he hell should players that enjoy a class have to change because they want to play a damage spec!? To me this makes no sense and completely goes against ArenaNets vision they had. More options is Never a bad thing, and if they are worried about balancing changes can always be made. Every profession can fill every role, so Hereford I feel the necro should be able to spec for pure damage and not be hindered by a class mechanic that will always keep them at lower damage. Some player just love damage.

Ps. ANET I am extremely happy that you made necros viable for play without minions, I have always wanted to play a necro in other games, but I absolutely DESPISE pet classes, I can finally enjoy a class I love. Thanks. (I know MM AI need buffed for the ones that do want to play with pets)

Wait are you saying we shouldn’t have Crit damage at all? Or that Crit damage should be in the power tree spite? I’m fine with Crit damage being in the soul reaping tree as it makes the tree worth even more, and its kind of a universal tree that works with many builds, I would hate for Crit damage to be in a tree that I wouldn’t want to spend points in.
I love the thought of the blood traits, but there is no way I could justify IMO spending more points on vitality with our health being naturally so high.

Other than that I think there are a lot of kitten good traits in the soul reaping tree, what is the last one you are talking about.

Cleave I could see, but I love the melee attack of the daggers, I personally would have to see a range increase, as being melee in their face works way better for me with wells, and the fact that they don’t expect a necro to be in their grill circle strafing them.

Oh boy

I play a power well necro and my damage is great, death shroud is absolutely amazing. I do feel there should be a second option for necros that just want to pump up there damage and forgo the benefits of DS, like maybe a “Deadly Rituals” ability that allows necros to use life force for extra damage instead of a death shroud.

Do not touch dagger/dagger they are great right now, maybe a bump in damage but I’m happy.

I RARELY ever lose a 1v1 in SPVP or WvW, the necro has a lot of amazing counters to other classes. My deathshroud life blast was hitting for 4.8k last night, is it 15k pistol whip damage? No but with all our other abilities and options it adds up to take players down quickly and efficiently.

Only thing I feel is that we should get some utility for dungeons love, well of darkness is amazing and never leaves my bar, and signet of I death is great, but other than that we don’t really have any abilities to help block projectiles or shield teammates like a thiefs shadow refuge (I know it doesn’t “shield” per say bit regen and stealth are great). Even this complaint is a small one.

I do feel we should have some more spec options, as vampiric necro and straight up dps as I said above with a second class ability instead of DS. They definitely have to take if they are going to give, as it stands now if they just flat out buff our damage by A LOT (read A LOT) we will be op.

We really need our bugs fixed before we can fully jnderstand our class actual abilities, more on the class.

I play thief as one of my mains and it is a rare necro that beats me (Backstab build), but last night there was one who put me to shame, hats off to him!

Thanks Blueprint and Chidawg for the detailed hints, will definitely help me to learn this class faster.

I have just been messing around with a condition build and it feels pretty good to me for starters.

I have a lvl 53 thief as an alt as well so I do understand the class faiy well, just like you pimpslapper. Sounds like you already know the ins and outs of the fights. I see you decided to go with condition build, good choice it’s a really strong build, my preference is power for my playstyle but there is no denying to effectiveness of a condition build. Have fun murdering thiefs it’s a lot of fun.

Well I have been destroying thieves lately, last night in an SPVP match I got stuck in a rapid fire fight, I had just killed a warrior and as I went to stomp him a thief showed up, it was a 100b warrior so I had used up my stun breaker. The thief stealths and pistol whipped me. I almost LOST IT laughing, he hit me for 20,113 damage!! I got hit by a 20k pistol whip, and I survived with 1.9k health and whipped his kitten with 1.7k health I was blown away that, that could even happen.

I run a 30 20 0 0 20 build, definitely not one I made up or anything, but power wells build is the way to go for fighting thieves IMO, when they stealth or pop down shadow refuge, pop a well inside they have no idea what is happening, I use D/D and staff, with well of suffering, well of darkness (amazing to stop heart seeker spam or when they blow haste) and corrupt boon.

It’s all about surviving the first few bursts. I have played against some decent thiefs lately that have hit me hard at first but have actually saved their haste and power moves for halfway through a fight, but for the most part death shroud is your friend in the first 30 seconds of the fight, wait till they set up to blow all their cool downs and use DS to stop their attack in their tracks.

As a main hand dagger necro I don’t see how anyone can pass up the multi target blind, it is just too good in dungeons with many adds, or DE or regular PVE.

I dps mobs then pop the blind to give me a free second to pop well of suffering then I pop well of darkness and you have about a 10 second period in that you are not getting hit at all while you drop multiple mobs, then when well of darkness is over the dagger blind is usually off cool down.

This combined with the weakness from dagger 5 which causes enemies attacks to glance gives you a lot of durability which allows you to focus more on damage with the same durability rather than sacrificing as much.

In PVE mobs are not running from you, so a chill is pretty useless IMO unless you are kiting a champ but then Cripple works too.

In pvp the blind and condition removal is phenomenal

Hmm thanks a ton for the info, I just assumed it was unlocked and bugged so I put it away and never tried killing anything with it again, I had tried equipping it multiple times and just tried using 5 out of combat to see if it worked and I wasn’t getting anything. I hope this is the issue. When I get home ill try it

Ever since I unlocked my warhorn abilities when I first created my toon (he is now lvl 58) my last warhorn ability, number 5 is completely bugged out. I CANNOT even use the ability. It’s almost like the icon unlocked from being greyed out but will not use. When I press the Hotkey or click the icon directly nothing happens, the icon doesn’t even pulse showing it registers a click. I haven’t been able to use this ability at all.

Now when I go into SPVP it works, but in WvW and regular leveling and play I cannot use warhorn 5 anyone else have this problem??

Good kitten. Love hearing stories of players tearing kitten up on their necros, as well as getting excited about the class, and while you may think you are not that good at pvp, obviously you proved that wrong with some decent timing and skills there. i have played most of the professions besides engineer and necro was easily the most fun. The things you can do with the necros abilities can be amazing and pretty kitten unique.

Here’s something I noticed.

Many people are complaining conditionmancers are the only real viable spec for necros, and ANET seems to be buffing conditionmancers damage with this change. IMO this is shoehorning necros even more intros conditionmancers build by adding more damage to this build. You guys have to remember that 10 stacks of might is not just going to effect the damage on BIP, but also all The rest of the conditions you place on and are already on them ticking away.

There is no reason for a power well necro to take BIP so them buffing the conditionmancers I feel is forcing necros into the same style of play as a conditionmancers.

MAJOR inconsistency with dagger mainhand

I absolutely love the daggers for power and precision as the axe is embarrassing for damage, but I do not love the daggers because the skills are useful, its love because there is really no ofher choice in the matter, it’s the only way to get any kitten decent damage out…. And that’s only the 1 auto attack skill the number 2 skill is terrible the immobilize is good. I honestly think on at least one of the dagger attacks it should apply some sort of condition, bleed, poison (we are death magic users poison does make sense) life force gain on the attacks is great though.

Lich Form revamp?

Make the model smaller. As it is now we just become a massive target that everyone focuses that cant heal.

In PVE the model if used in alright caves or other places often puts the camera at crazy angles, and makes it hard to see.

Well thief’s steal is not good at all unless traited into, I’d easily say DS is way better stock as it can be used as a bubble or Aoe life drain. Mesmers shatter doesn’t really need to be specced into but it can definitely help. Eles attunements definitely need speccing into. Pretty much most classes defining abilities need to be specced in some way or another.
