My 40 second utility skill (Bull Rush) is completely shut down by some class’s auto attack (their sword spams cripple). Making us completely kited at ease. These skills are thrown into almost every weapon set and are ALWAYS present in fights.
Excuse me but are you referring to thieves? (You must be, because the only other class with a cripple on their sword auto is the ranger) I can promise you that no thief is going to stand close to a warrior and keep him crippled with autoattack, that’s just not happening, because it’d be foolish.
Now I am not saying that warriors are not completely screwed over by chills and cripple, but that’s a) mostly coming from the range classes/builds in the team fight and b) a problem with the game itself, because it favors range builds so much.
Combat uptime for range classes is so much higher than for melees, it’ not even funny and on top of it you don’t even take a fraction of the damage a melee does. The only way to kill them is to “train” them, which means the melee is hopelessly overextending while taking all sorts of damage while chasing and usually killed in the worst spots but even if you manage to get them down, you lose so much time before you get to the next guy, that the guy you just killed is half way back to the node already. because not only did you have to recover from the HP loss, but you also had to close the newly created gap.
That’s a huge flaw with the combat system and not with the warrior class. The warrior class just happens to be one of two melee focused classes by design.
Allowing melees to endlessly stick to their target isn’t a solution either, however, due to the nature of how skills are designed (and that’s a good thing). Power-based skills and playstyles (not so much condition-based, which is another huge flaw in this game) are designed to deal a lot more damage than ranged ones. Though balance in this regard has not been achieved at all yet and if we ever want to see good competitive PvP, this needs to be addressed.
How to address it? The theory is simple:
1. Make sure that, both, power and condi-based builds are vastly more effective in terms of raw damage when they require shorter range to deliver their damage than if they can do so from 900-1500 range
2. Don’t simply give melees the tools to sick to their target or range classes to stay away indefinitely, but actually balance the scale by adjusting the sustain (healing, active/passive defenses) these two disctinct playstyles have access to.
You want to create an equation that gives more sustain to classes that have lower combat uptime and less sustain to classes that have a higher one. Unfortunately right now it’s pretty much backwards and those classes that we see playing range builds in the current meta have much more healing and more if not similar evasion than those who have to constantly chase their target.
Yes I was talking about the thief, but I was using it illustrate a point about cripple, chill, and blind, being slapped on tons of low cool downs skills so that they are ever present on group fights.
Of course a thief is going to stand there and cripple the warrior. Sword and dagger thieves laugh hard at warrior now, porting in hitting a few times then porting out crippling the warr, flanking strike to evade all damage, larcenous strike to destroy our only decent offensive elite.
If these patch notes are true then out class just got completely replaced by guardians. More group utility, teleports to land damage, and not be kited all over, High damage, high up times of protection, regen and stability. Makes the warrior look completely out of place in this game as a front line melee fighter with none of these tools.
THE ONLY thing we had going for us was damage, and with the complete gutting of beserkers power, and heightened focus we just took a massive hit to our only playstyle (even that playstyle is a joke).
We have serious innate problems that have t even been addressed in this patch with sustainability (Lol Healing signet provides a 200 up heal, and a 3k heal on use), and being kited all over the place, we have huge telegraphed attacks that a blind simply negates.
Ostrich you said you jumped into a tourney with a warrior and immediately killed 3 people with 100B. —-Come on now mate-- I thought you were at a higher tier than that (no offense as I respect you as a player) but seriously,100B is a joke skill (unless for Rezz pressuring) all 3 of those targets had to have been completely immobilized or CC’d, with no stunbreakers, or hey had to have died at thier keyboards,,for you to have done that. Nobody and I mean nobody has complained about getting killed by 100B in pvp since Release. There’s a reason for that.

God this better be fake. No sustain buffs and complete damage nerfs. This class would be completely worthless compared to guardians and actually EVERY OTHER class.
I agree with CollegeDowntime, warriors have some great trait they just require lvl 30 points to obtain which makes the overall stats go to waste! atm they lack not only dmg, but mobility, and defense. with that being said ofc you can create a warrior with absurd amount of dmg! but you will die in less that 15sec in Tournaments. so if you want a warrior who can afflict a fair amount of dmg you need to sacrifice your survivability. ( THIS IS NOT THE CASE WITH GUARDIANS! ) atm guardians does alot more dmg than warriors, with a HUGE amount of survivability, and thats even if the warrior goes full dps!!! what i think needs to be done is do make the physical Utility skills unblockable! yes you heard right, make them unblockable not undodgeable though! the only thing warriors are good for in Tpvp atm is knocking ppl down. And thats really not good at all! taking in consideration that ppl dodge block and blind you ALL the time AND they use Stability. If i had to Remake something about the warrior i would go back the how they used to be!!! ( not that they had unblockable physical utility skills :P ) btw nerf rangers "my pet can heal me underwater even though it’s dead bug ) and make the cd longer on thief’s evade attack underwater!!! for christ sake
Currently warriors have some of the most mobility and THE most damage in the entire game. Their CC is nothing to laugh about either. It’s also worth mentioning they have the highest base stats in the game with both the highest base armor and highest base health.
That said they suck. It’s just true. They are gods against terrible players who don’t know the difference between rush and bull’s rush, but the second you enter a high end tourney with both groups voip’d you’ll need an entire team built around your damage just to do anything.
Sure it’s kittening AWESOME when you go into a team fight and kill three dudes in under five seconds, but that’s just how warriors are. It’kitten or miss, you either hit a home run or you fall on your kitten .
Of all the balance patches that have occured I’m most worried about this one because it has the biggest chance of just being a major kitten show with warriors one shotting kids everywhere.. The only thing that gives me hope is boon hate.

Screw that we NEED our time to be feared by others. We don’t have invulnerable builds (engie bunker, no offense) we have 0 options ever since they have GUTTED us by destroying frenzy.

Please don’t make the player larger with rampage, it would look cool, but completely put a huge target on us to be focused down like an eles tornado.
The stability is the only reason to even think of using this, and even then it’s not worth it.
Damage is waaay to low in rampage, you are rooted for attacks (<— terrible idea), the cc attacks are destroyed by stability, we already have 0 sustain, not being able to heal is laughable.
People should FEAR a warrior in Rampage form (Lich form unchecked can do some serious damage to a team or WvW group, or PVE mobs). Half the damage we take, immune to cripples, chills, and immobilizes. Either make it damage or utility,
if utility- #5 skill- Legendary Battle Roar- either heal all allies around for decent health, Or give a long duration of Stability, Protection, Fury, Swiftness, and might to all allies (long cool down so can only be used once. (Have to be careful with boon theft and stripping, but we DESPERATELY need something that makes others fear a warrior for a short bit and not laugh at us.
Skill Number Four Unspeakable Courage- Re-direct damage from allies to yourself for 3-5 Attacks (Hence take Half damage in Rampage form)
Some other skills to make us worthwhile and threatening in group fights.
I was wondering why my meta count was so low. Have both dragon ball achievements but apparently they don’t count.

Wow I knew it was absolute kitten terrible, but this is embarrassing and seriously needs fixed.
Only thing about this (and the main reason I never use kick) is that 99% of the time I want people near me, not knocked away from me. Most of the time we are getting kited and crippled, and when I finally get to my target the last thing I want to do is push them away. I wish kick could be turned into a pull somehow

Warriors are not kings of PVE right now guardians are. The only groups looking for multiple warrs are COF which is a joke. Warriors in harder content have the same issue that we have in high end pvp and WvW. Now I am not saying warriors are bad in PVE by any means, but we have serious problems…
We lack sustain Pure and simple, our heals are terribad and we have no real way to stay in a fight. In fact those exact same Gap closers that you were talking about are completely shut down by cripple and chill. Not to mention in any decent sized fight cripple and chill are on so many skills that they get tossed around like candy at a parade.
The most laughable thing is, not only does cripple and chill shut down our weapon gap closers, it also shuts down our ONLY gap closing Utility skill Bulls Charge.
A simple condition, that is even tacked to professions AUTO ATTACK Completely shuts down our 40 second cool down utility skill, and our whole class. In pvp we get kited to death while getting pounded on with no way to fill our health back up or take a beating, aside long cools downs.
Not to mention that almost every serious pvp warrior has to have either a one handed sword or a great-sword for mobility otherwise the problem is completely exemplified.
In PvP I agree we need more ways to stick on a target/negate conditions. I don’t know why I have to keep repeating myself about PvP.
In PvE, that is completely a L2P issue. Mobs attack so slowly in PvE that a good Warrior can completely avoid damage. I recommend checking out Strife’s channel on Youtube if you don’t believe me. You don’t need healing if you don’t take damage.
Donut I edited my post to include the problems with warriors in PVE. He only reason people take warriors is because the content dies quickly. If you take warriors in a group without that dps they will be flat on the ground most of the time because lack of sustain. So yes we are beasts in 3 war 1 guard and mes parties (good call about strifes channel mate, I watch it all the time, But 1 or 2 warrs in a group without that dps is goig to be feeling the lack of sustain hard.

Who are you? You know nothing about me.. I have a LOT of tourny play on my warrior.
Anyways, I’m not one to bash people recording and putting out YouTube vids to help the community or showcase good fights and/or new builds or weapon combos, but when you come in here stating that you are hot kitten wrecking in a “sick 2v1 with a Mesmer” in a 1v1 (not a 2v1) that doesn’t even swap weapons, and then argue with people that disagree, that’s when I call Bull kitten.
I’m trying to provide feedback to the OP saying that chain cc’ing people is not fun to watch, it’s boring.

This is what drives me nuts. I love the hammer, but honestly it takes ZERO skill to do the chain cc combo. It’s lame gameplay, and boring to watch.
The only time I enjoy watching hammer fights is when it’s a small scale battle, or the player uses the hammer cc’s at good timings not mindlessly smashing buttons.
Oh and your ego needs to take a rest. That Mesmer was TERRIBLE. He never even swapped weapons from greatsword. he literally sat with the greatsword auto attack on.
No offense mate, but don’t go ego stroking and arguing because these noobs don’t know how to use stability or stun breakers.

God seriously… I miss this. It just made the warrior fun and deadly.
I played a lot of TPVP with my warrior, and WvW and PVE, and Frenzy was just straight up FUN. When my TPVP team disintegrated, and I started PVE again, I would take frenzy as a defensive skill, using it to burst quickly on the Archdiviner and other decent hitting bosses, and GTFO.
I miss frenzy stomps and rezzes. This skill to me made the warrior class DEADLY. Frenzy hammer was amazing.
Now we are laughed at. kitten I miss that ability.

Lol this is Actually pretty funny… Until I realized its true…
New Trait for Warriors. In any tree whichever is fit.
Gain Protection for 3-5 seconds on using a burst skill. Helps bring more utility and survivability to our class mechanic, and also provides a nice alternative to the very strange trait buffs for holding adrenaline. You can keep adrenaline for better damage, or burst and have some more protection.
Edit: 5 seconds might be too long with Burst Mastery trait. The duration can be changed, just trying to put the idea out there.
A frontline melee brawler in the thick of AOE’s, Cleaves, and Condi Aoes, with NO access to protection, no access to blinds, no access to sustained healing minus utility shouts traited (long cooldown, for poor healing) little access to vigor, no access to regen (unless banner specced), and no access to Asgis, added to terrible condi management, is the most unheard of frustrating experience for any warrior lover trying to pvp. These are basic necessities for melee ranged fighter! not optional!
Thieves have spammable gap closers, access to vigor, return endurance on dodge, teleports, cripples, spammable immobilizes (sword 2) and spammable evades. -Guardians have protection, regen, Tons of healing, heals on dodges, TONS of ones, teleports, Ring of warding to keep people from kiting, good condi management, Tons of vigor. Eles… Need I say more they have access to all the above, mesmers, have teleporfs, stealth, illusions, 2 invuls (blurred frenzy, and distortion) protection and regen accessibility.
^^^ None of these classes are kited easily!!! All of these classes are GREAT examples of melee done right! Warrior has barely ANY of the above! Do you see the problem? To me it is clear as day.
We are extremely vulnerable to cripple and chill (don’t say melandru runes because that completely pigeon holes us and does not fix the issue) and EXTREMELY and EASILY kited. All of our gap closers are affected by cripple and chill, causing other professions to be able to easily open gaps again. Unlike thieves are gap closers are not spammable, and we don’t have teleports. Think about it, when was the last time you have ever heard a thief say “Man, I cannot stick on my target” They don’t because they have the right blend and access to gap closers. We should have that (not teleports) the ability to stick on targets like that. Since we are a frontline fighting class in melee 90% of the time, the other professions should have to worry about shaking that warrior of his tail, not endlessly and laughably blinding and kiting us while they kill others, or get away.
We need better ways to stick on our targets and keep from being kited endlessly with cripples and chill literally being thrown on to multiple weapon Sets and multiple skills on EVERY Profession, it makes the warrior class a joke. We need better ways to sustain ourselves and survive Frontline Melee Combat with Aoes, Cleaves, CC’s, and The mass amounts of Aoe Condi spam. It’s embarrassingly bad how little access to these BASIC, vital, and necessary survivability skills we have!

Mesmers run circles around thieves? Have you ever played a Mesmer?? Obviousky not, Mesmer is one of if, not the slowest class in the game. Seriously, don’t go exaggerating information if you don’t know the truth.
Anyways I agree with you that traps need buffed. Trip Wire is nice in that it can hit multiple targets, but having to be in melee range with an extremely obvious trap setting animation isn’t really the best form of sneaky trap laying lol.
I like The healing on adrenaline gain, if you think about this, it fits right in with the warrior style, in order to receive sustain and your heals you would have to be right in The thick of things actively fighting. This way warriors can’t just burst then kite around and heal up.
Now I never used omnomberry pies as I had a feeling it was going to get nerfed and I didn’t want to rely on something that would be game changing when it was nerfed.
But… From what I have seen of the warrior videos with Crit heal food it looked like warriors were in a good spot (obviously too good) but finally we got to see warriors fighting 1vX and having a chance with some sustain, and finally we saw warriors lasting in guardian battles and against mesmers. I feel that was the perfect way for a warrior to gain sustain as well. By doing damage to enemies and inflicting wounds. Kind of like a blood thirst heal

Such a great idea, I hope ANET sees this, good pro’s and con’s there would definitely have to be an internal cool down though.
With this change, and the change to turn the brawn bonus into just a flat global weapon reduction depending in points spent (for all weapons we have, so that the brawn bonus can be used by any spec) I could see warriors sitting in a really good place.
Only thing is this trait would almost be mandatory for tpvp and wvw and might pigeon hole warriors, but I would rather be pidgeon holed by a great trait rather than a lack of good traits.
Well, we are the masters of Arms/Weapons right? How about having the Discipline bonus be a flat weapon skill reduction to every weapon type we have, kind of like a global weapon cooldown reduction. This way it is useable in all builds, and weapon sets.

I was the only one in the AR borderlands from Ehmry at the time, and we owned nothing, the commander followed me and showed up to fight, at least that’s what I thought. I agree not to let yourself get distracted by a roamer if you are a commander solid advice there, but if there is no one else on the BL, your side owns everything, and you wait at the supply camp for me to re-spawn (like he did multiple times, /laugh on my corpse) then you are obviously not commanding anything.
I’d say the real question is, why would you let yourself be put in a situation where you had very little chance of survival? You weren’t going to take the camp, and you went in knowing that the camp had fully upgraded guards. Great job SOS guys! Use that home field advantage.
Seriously though, when I roam, I do what I can to wait away from towers and guards. Why fight 10 NPC’s when you can avoid it? Sounds like you are a little upset they were smart enough to take the easy kill.
I fought you on the camp outskirts to the east. Not bad, but that build is irritating.
I let myself get into that, because I roamed the whole BL didn’t find anyone, had to leave in about 15 mins and just wanted to get into some decent fights before I left.
You guys were definitely very skilled eles, which is why I was just disappointed I couldn’t get you to fight. I created this new build last night, and wanted to test it out real quick. It’s seems like it is very hard to lock down and you guys did well locking me down (when the guards weren’t spamming bolas).

You got me lol. Seriously though, They were 3 d/d eles… Can’t get much more FOTM lol. Either way I’ve been running s/d for a long time, but I did come up with a new build last night in anticipation of the patch, and was eagerly hoping to test it out.
Don’t put a commander tag on, and then you hide behind 2 other d/d eles and camp guards, maybe it’s just me or our server, but I expect way more from our commanders than that… To me that says I PVE’d and bought the tag so I could feel important.
And talking like this makes me feel like we have a keyboard warrior. Watch out for the tough guy everyone, he’s dangerous

But when you (not you personally) just hide behind guards that’s just boring. I made that post to hopefull have the commander respond, so I could understand the logic of why someone would just sit behind camp guards with 3 other players and not fight in PvP.
Anyways, like I said don’t put a commander tag on if you are going to run from fights >_> you spent 100g to run from fights in WvW That just logically makes zero sense.

Don’t put a commander tag on, and then you hide behind 2 other d/d eles and camp guards, maybe it’s just me or our server, but I expect way more from our commanders than that… To me that says I PVE’d and bought the tag so I could feel important.
Did you take the camp?

I have used it a couple times, but unless you are actively staring at your utility bar, it’s really easy to miss the shadow trap Icon rotate over, I messed with it in SPVP for possible TPVP reasons and I was always missing the change over while fighting.
As for BlueprintFE, I make do with less on other classes. Bursting comes from dagger Auto. Not enough burst? Equip another dagger. Not enough survivability? Equip a Focus. Can’t have both, bro. Anymore, atleast….
And this is why I don’t use Meta builds. Too much reliance.
This is a l2p problem. I know Elementalists that get along just fine without that Meta build, including myself.
I could whine all day about how Necromancer is incredibly glitchy and on the underdog side of the game with NO teleports, invulnerability, stability, boon access, or even strong damage… we don’t even have superior condition application… but no. I adapted, and now I dominate with Necromancer.
Granted the nerfing of Elementalist is a little misdirected. I would have just preferred cleansing and healing were nerfed, but oh well.
I understand the necro thing trust me I do, I played necro at launch (d/d power necro my first 80) and in SPVP when we had 100+ bugs.
But that still doesn’t answer my statement about you saying a 30 20 0 20 0 build on an ele is a viable GC build, in fact you were stating it like it is a known fact when in reality you are straight up lying about that build, and trying to sway people’s opinion in your favor. (Again no dis-respect meant, it’s just frustrating). You stated that as if it were a well known fact and with a “just grab a focus and you will be fine playing GC ele stop crying” When in fact some people have played the ele since paunch and know it as well as you know your necro. Your saying you don’t have invuls or teleport (which you do flesh wurm and necrotic traversal, death shroud 2), and no boon access, when you are really overlooking the benefits of the highest health pool in the game and Extending that health pool with death shroud. Not too mention shroud stomping every 10 seconds for a danger free stomp. I would gladly give up some of the eles benefits to have a higher health pool, we are completely shoe horned into having to take vitality on our gear (or vital on amulet or runes) other wise the 2 stacks of bleed from Blood is Power will pretty much kill us. Necromancers were ALWAYS my nightmare in TPVP. A necro on the broken roof of Khylo is a nightmare to deal with with treb, or roamer supporting it. Plus being feared off the edge of the catwalk area.
Anyways you are downplaying the advantages of the necro greatly (I know they are not perfect)
My Phantasmal Mesmer has no fury or mightstacks… My Necromancer doesn’t have mightstacks either…
I dare you, master another class. Master all builds possible for that class. Your precious Elementalist has caused you to rely on things no other class can possibly do.
Learn and adapt.
My Elementalist can’t create illusions and doesn’t have access to the best cc elite in the game. My Elementalist doesn’t have 18k base hp and Death Shroud. This is a serious apples-to-oranges comparison. The Elementalist is the most boon dependent profession in the game because they are meant to have the most access to boons.
Learn to make valid comparisons.
(Oh, and Mesmers have better fury access than Elementalists do. Eles get 2 seconds base Fury on attunement swap, Mesmers give perma-fury to all phantasms – their main damage source. Not to mention that Staff Mesmers are excellent fury and might stackers with defense potential on par with that of the D/D ele.)
My Necromancer doesn’t have teleports, invulnerability, or massive healing/AoE cleansing either. Hell I don’t even have mediocre access to stability. Your point? Elementalist damage mitigation is massive, and anyone with 50%+ Crit chance, and 50%+ crit damage is monsterously powerful. Don’t like the Ele survivability in D/D? Learn to use a Focus. It’s good, I swear.

Focus on glass cannon? Please tell me what you are bursting with. With focus you lose churning earth, fire grab, earthquake knockdown, ride the lightning and updraft, and what are you getting in return!? A fire aura, and fire wall in fire attunement (WHOOPEE) a hard to lane daze in Water (comet) a chill, in Air you are getting swirling winds and a knockdown, and earth you get an invul and a projo reflect. A glass cannon dagger ele with focus offhand is a more confused and fvcked up playing style than a left handed football bat. You have no burst skills for a GLASS CANNON with dagger focus. What are you bursting with?? shocking aura? Or how about frost aura? Drakes breath?? Maybe you are bursting with magnetic grasp? Or ring of earth?? Oh I get it you must be bursting with water auto attack.
I have played every class in the game and 5 of them consistently in Tournies, and know most of the professions very well. I have played ele when the class was considered the worst in the game, in fact people made videos mocking the ele saying its better to delete them. I remember that. Guess when all that stopped?? When the “evil” 0 10 0 30 30 build with healing power came out. Guess what? Now it’s getting the Nerf bat with no compensation, where does that leave eles??
If you notice something with all of the 10k base health professions they have all received some kind of compensation, Guardians have boons, blinds, blocks, and healing… thieves have stealth, blinds, evades and mobility, eles had mobility and the only other way for them to survive in all this Aoe combat especially in melee range is healing and some boons, the healing has been nerfed greatly, now along with mobility, Now we are just a light armor class with ok mobility. If you go glass cannon (lol, and I have been trying GC for a long time) you have 14k health and get 2-4 shot by a warriors whirlwind, (been there done that).
Your 30 20 0 20 0 build is so full of flaws I bet you have never tried it. Please tell me what grandmaster fire trait you took? Fire fields lasting longer?? Lol. No attunement cool down reduction, have fun getting any type of rotation in there. No vigor (can’t mitigate kitten for damage) No protection boon at all. Glass cannon in light armor with no protection boon, yeah you will last 3 seconds if that in any type of real fight.
I’m not attacking you, but pointing out the flaws in your build and letting you know to stop spreading misinformation about the ele.

I doubt anyone is going to take direct damage while invuln. It’s unblockable, meaning things that would cause the “Block” to pop up won’t work. I don’t see why the skills wouldn’t just ignore blocks but still fail to do damage because of invulnerability.
I don’t know of ever trying to run through a necromancer’s unblockable mark while blocking with my shield and Endure Pain being up, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t function just like that.
If you have been playing a warrior for as long as you say you have, then you would know the last thing we need is more damage, this does not fix our serious problems. Being happy for more damage is a no brain zerker warrior mentality, wanting to not have to think just dps. Warriors have bigger problems such as a lack of sustain, big problems with conditions, limited access to vigor, very low condition damage viability and many other things that lack to make them a true contender.
Coming in here and running your mouth about how this patch is great for warriors and guardians can suck it, when they have ignored serious flaws and covered it up with more mouth breather damage.

As to Besetment, and Naphack: Thank you for your tips, but I doubt I’ll go back to WvW any time soon, Necro is too unviable there sadly.

I have played a lot of TPVP as well, and if you are anything like me or most other TPVP players you love a challenge, I think that you will come back to WvW, and destroy that thief with a new build/gear set. Accept the challenge and adapt and murder that fool like we do in TPVP. The best TPVP players as you know adapt constantly when the meta changes.
If you need any help hit me up. I don’t doubt your skill and I know how frustrating it can be to play at high level compettitve pvp and then get shocked in WvW. The Ruleset is different and you weren’t used to it. No biggie, swallow your pride and embrace the challenge.
Also what weapon set was the thief running? Might be able to help more with that knowledge.
Had some good fun this morning, I went and capped Umberglades supply camp, and sat on it while AR steamed in to try and take it from me and a [SWAT] Necro. Had fun holding it down against 5+ AR, some really nice small fights… Until AR got frustrated and Had to bring the Zerg. If I was /laughing over your corpse don’t be offended, was trying to get you to Rez and come back and fight before the Zerg came.
