I use it in wvw all the time. Because I like it. And I get kills. The end.

“Zerg get kills for you and you like it.”

And? I like doing it with two axes. I’ve used every weapon we can use and it’s just my favorite in both dungeons and wvw. I do have solo kills with it, too. It’s not always zerg. Sometimes you get lucky and it’s just some kitten that goes, “Oh a guy with two axes what a nub.” And then gets stomped because he’s an idiot.

At least Anet had the sense to make a class like that not have the ability for permanent stealth. You know, like Rogues in wow or something.

Err, Rogues had a good balance of stealth, you can knock them out of stealth via DoTs, GW2 you cannot. They only have a few ways to restealth, this makes them commit to a fight. GW2 thieves can just run away whenever they want. Don’t get me started on the movement speed difference. Ultimately you’re arguing permanent stealth vs combat stealth, which is daft because one has to commit, one does not.

I was referring to how the op said that they can come out of nowhere because of stealth. Their stealth is not permanent. They’re slippery, yes. But in an open landscape, they will not be able to vanish and be permanently gone.

How many skill points and can you respec?

in Players Helping Players

Brennus.1435

Well you’ve gotten answers from people who seem confused. As far as I know, there is no limit to the amount of skill points you can have. Even after level 80, xp still goes up, then it reaches the end you “level up” again, and it gives you a skill point. Where you spend your skill points is permanent, but it doesn’t matter, because skill points keep coming. You can unlock all skills and still build up skill points.

With traits you only get 70 trait points. They are able to be respecced at your profession trainer for a few silver.

iirc someone did the math and came up with the fact that with both sigils you would get somewhere like a 45-50% proc instead of 30%, but the internal cooldown renders the extra procs as moot

Please Reconsider Legendary Weapons

in Suggestions

Posted by: Brennus.1435

Brennus.1435

throughout mythology, weapons usually become legendary through the actions of their wielders and the events they were used in, not through some arbitrary form of instant acquisition.
A true Legendary weapon would be, for example, the one you’ve carried with you from the start, throughout Tyria. It should level up with you as your personal legend grows.
These weapons would only become more valuable when traded to other people, especially to low level characters beginning their journeys. They would have another character’s adventures to add to their story.
There should be a whole section of flavour text associated with the weapon, telling you who wielded it when.
This would make a weapon Legendary; they could even take their names from their history.

Something like this. Especially the first part.

Dungeon Like This Needed

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Brennus.1435

Brennus.1435

A dungeon, that has decent drop from trash, maybe chance at t6 mats, small chance at rares maybe etc…but does not really reward you at the end EXCEPT the chance at a pre-cursor or a super rare item like Volcanus.

It would be easy to medium difficulty to promote running it.

Would you guys run a dungeon with reduced silver, but increased trash drops and the chance to get a possible 200-500G+ item at the end? instead of now, where you get like 40s+ for dungeons, but chance at drops are like slim to none

I.e. you want a super easy, no-effort way of getting your legendary.

Keyword: LEGENDARY

As in, something that’s not supposed to be handed to you on silver puppy platter!

It hurts, I know. I’ve decided legendary is last on my list, but it’s on the list any way. I want to go through the hell of it, so when I do have it, it’s unique. There’s not people standing in every waypoint with it, because they can’t be assed to do what I did. That’s how a legendary should work.

Question about sigils on weapons.

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Brennus.1435

Brennus.1435

“The mainhand sigil triggers before the offhand sigil. "

“Sigils that trigger on critical hits can trigger on any critical hits dealt by the player, with any skill. "

“A single cooldown is shared by all sigils. While the cooldown is active, no other sigil with a cooldown can have any effect. For example, if you are using a Sigil of Fire (Chance to cause flame blast on critical) on one weapon, and a Sigil of Battle (Gain stacks of might when you swap to this weapon) on another weapon in your other weapon slot, causing Fire to proc first, then swapping weapons before the 5 second internal cooldown from your Sigil of Fire has expired will prevent the Sigil of Battle from giving you might. "

This is basically what I was asking. Would I get more fire procs, by having it on both weapons? If say the mainhand doesn’t proc, then it will check the offhand? As in, if it’s on both weapons, I have a slightly higher chance of getting a proc? Or is the chance so low that it doesn’t matter?

Well, I hate sounding elitist, but I’ve done both story and explorable with on level groups who had blue and green armor on. I know it sounds elitist, but the OP says that it’s “nearly impossible.” So, I’m not saying, “well I did it, sooooo.” I’m saying the notion it could be near impossible is not fact. There are many factors that may change the outcome of the dungeon. What ways did you pull? What was your group composition, and what was the competence level? What sorts of things did you do? Did you range when you needed to range, melee when you needed to melee? Did you try and pull a huge group and leash all but one or two, so you could kill them easier? You don’t always have to rush into the group. Are your friends int he group using things to reflect projectiles? There’s so much here. A good run down on exactly what you did and where you had problems would be more helpful if you wish to receive help.

Question about sigils on weapons.

Brennus.1435

I’m curious as to how the sigils proc on weapons. Say I’m dual wielding axes, or axe/sword, and I put superior sigil of fire on both weapons. I feel like it would make sense that they would share an internal cooldown or sorts, but I’m not sure how it works. Would it be more beneficial to put the same sigil on both weapons for increased proc chance, or better to use two different ones?

It would still be neat to see something like a melee focused medium armor class that uses elements as an attack. Think Enhancement shaman from wow, but way better. Weapons are imbued with elements to cause the specific element’s condition. Imbued with fire, causes burning; air, a stun; earth, a bleed; water, returns health to the character and slows the enemy. I mean you really could do something interesting with a medium armor melee elemental type class.

It’s been said, but if you’re a warrior, Signet of Rage when on passive gives you exactly what you describe. AT first I thought I was bugged, but figured it out after awhile of playing with the signet. Once you activate the signet, it goes away, until the cooldown is off and the passive comes back up. So while you’re idle, you’ll always have those particle effects.

And it’s totally possible to finish dungeon at their level- harder (ofcourse!) but possible. I have leveled up 3 of my characters on dungeons- 2 alts ONLY on dungeons. Wear the equipment for your level ( no mf, no outleveled gear), bring some food, learn mechanics of fights, your class, the guide for dungeon. If you are having problems use ranged weapons which are often a lot easier then melee where you have less time for dodge. Oh, and die, die, die and die, and while dying- learn.

This. After a while, we’ve gotten so good at this, it’s kind of pathetic. We three manned CM with two on-level characters in greens, a necromancer and a mesmer, and my level 80 warrior in half exotic. It’s always possible. Just think.

I’d rather do fifteen dungeons than craft. Honestly. I have never liked crafting in any rpg. I have not once crafted, even when it was almost mandatory to get the best stuff. /shrug. The point is that the monthly wasn’t meant to be easy. You can get ascended gear with the laurels. Do something you hate doing, for a reward that’s worth it. Deal with it, or just don’t do it. It’s that simple. There is no difference between me hating to craft and you nto being able to finish a dungeon. It’s a task we hate doing, but if we want the reward, we do it. Dungeons are not that hard with the right group and competent people. For that you need to be social to find them. Welcome to social gaming.

While there is no set trinity, some classes and builds are better suited to be hit by the mobs, and other are better suited to cc and heal, and other better suited to be doing damage so long as they aren’t being hit for prolonged periods of time. You won’t have a dedicated tank because there are not constant and sustained heals. If you’re in melee range and you’re dying fast, there is no big incoming heal about to land. You have to back up, switch to ranged, or something, and let someone else pull the aggro. If you’re interested in how the threat works, this is helpful: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Aggro

I am sort of the “tank” of my guild group, and what that means is that I build my warrior into toughness, healing shouts, etc. In the end I’m not really a main tank, a boss can still two-shot me in some places. I’m a survivor with buffs and debuffs. I try to maintain the threat so that other can do the damage and support. But I can’t face tank some things. Sometimes I have to kite, someimes I have to just run out entirely and let someone else take it while I heal.

I have a slight bias to the warrior as it’s my main and my pride and joy. I’ve just always been a melee type of person, so. I also have an elementalist, however, and I can say that if you’re drawn to the casting playstyle (hell I felt like a wizard), then it’s definitely what you want. The cons have mostly already been stated. You’re squishy as hell for quite some time leveling and if you get zerged by multiple enemies you either kite like a boss, or drop dead like a boss. The problem I had was that switching attunements felt like playing the piano sometimes. It’s an absolute blast to do that… until you’re in a really hectic situation and you freeze up and don’t even know which attunement to get into. Others might not have that problem, but I did. When it got really rough, I’d just kitten out. I feel like played right, an elementalist is an amazing support class, but the attunement switching to make it what it could be just wasn’t for me. That’s the cons. The pros are also listed, superior support, decent pinch heals, damage isn’t bad either, fun as hell, wizards, etc.

On the warrior, the con could simply be that you might get bored being a bulldozer. I sort of had a midlife crisis around level 40 where I wanted to play through parts of leveling without armor just for a challenge. Not saying warrior is overly easy… but… Once I got to 80, though I really enjoyed what I became. Right now I play as a tanky, dps support class. I use shout heals for support. I can cleanse debuffs, heal, and do various other things with just three shouts on a very low cooldown. That’s how I preferr to play. Support, yet also in the bosses face. The pros and cons of a warrior versus those of an elementalist are really all going to go back to preference on your part. Would you rather juggernaut or wizard? I see the fun and value in both.
