I dunno, I knew what agony resist was, but had never once seen it shortened to ar. Then again I only do things with my guild and they have just always called it agony for short without actually making it abbreviated. I see those in the game all the time, and don’t know what they mean because if you ask people tell you you’re stupid. Even if you know what it is if it were just spelled out. You could have just simply explained it.
If you were to bring competent heavies, then sure that would probably work fine. But it seems your premise is that heavy armor = staying alive. Building your group on that premise is probably going to fail you hard. I have as much survivability on my warrior as I know how to get, but if I stand there thinking, “ZOMG INVINCIBLE” I die in about two seconds to spike damage. Have fun with that.
But when playing the Warrior, they have no interesting skills to use. Most of the better skills are Passive Signets with dull active effects. Warriors have very little interesting skills compared to the other classes in the game.
You got to level 10 and got killed by something that wasn’t elite didn’t you? All of this is based on opinion, and thank sweet baby kitten Anet doesn’t cater to kitten and opinion
can someone explain why you decided to remove respawning during combat in dungeons? just did a run of AC with 5 level 80, and its near impossible,
It’s really not. Seriously.
we’re five fully geared level 80s, i have no doubt in my mind that people who are at the level the dungeon requires will struggle even more than us.
You’d be wrong. My guild has actually carried people of the same level explorable through. We used to graveyard zerg a lot, but when we couldn’t do it anymore we actually found new tactics. Your hypothesis that it’s impossible is wrong. Try something new, or find new people to do them with.
Sounds like someone is mad that graveyard zerg doesn’t work anymore. Work around it. Or find a guild who will. Be social. You know, it’s a social game. There are casual, understanding guilds out there. All your complaints so far are sort of just lame.
I did the same thing to get the thief hood on my ranger and guardian shoulders on my warrior. It works as of last week.
I am responding to 4:
You don’t /have/ to build tank if you don’t want. but some survival will help. I’m not a ranged warrior, so I can’t really help with rifle, but if you’re dying a lot, either work on dodge timing, or work on gear. You can build tanky if you like, it’s really up to you. We have some of the highest dps in the game, and also are capable of compromising. I, personally, am a shout/heal warrior. I heal my allies, buff them, etc.
Really we’re not the primary “tank” here, we’re the primary “support” here.
Mounts have been repeatedly locked for a reason. The sense of scale is diminished when you can just sprint from one end of the map to the other…
I can already with Quick Breathing. Next argument…
I would just like to set my utility skills to mouse buttons. Please Anet, you’re my only hope.
They could make loot like it is in WvW. In WvW a loot bag appears at your feet so you don’t have to go get it. There you go.
How does having a dedicated healer allow for more interesting mechanics? Just curious.
As it is though, you can quite easily spec for primarily Support on every profession:
Warrior
Healing Shouts, Shouts, Banners, Warhorn, Most of the Tactics Trait line
Guardian
Virtues, The Virtue Traitline, A ton of skills
Engineer
Elixirs, Some Kits (Elixir Gun, Med Kit), Alchemy Trait line
Ranger
Spirits, Some Pets (Brown Bears have “Shake It Off!”, Fern Hound has Regenerate), Warhorn, Healing Spring, “Search and Rescue”, Signet of Renewal, Spirit of Nature
Thief
Stealth (gives allies a chance to recover / wait for heal to come off cooldown, traited gives regen), Venomous Aura, Thrill of the Crime, Bountiful Theft….
Christ, this. Everyone has to actually for once help themselves and think about, “How might I help my party” instead of, “LOLZOMGDPS” or “LOLZOMG’MAHEALER”
Strange how my female friends don’t seem to have a problem with the skimpy armour in this game. Guess they’re just normal human beings rather than pseudo-intellectuals.
My wife plays this game with me and we never have a problem. It’s hilarious to us to make her as skimpy as possible. Just because we can, and we’re secure in our sexuality.
Or a private endeavor.
I would actually like to find a way to toggle whether or not I can or can’t see the people in my guild. It would be amazingly helpful sometimes. I wouldn’t want it to be there all the time. And I would want to be able to toggle that off and on. If there’s a whole lot of people in one place and I’m trying to find a point of interest that could be a lot of clutter in the way if I can’t turn it off.
I’m just wondering what the actual difference in a permanent swiftness you can get on say a warrior specced into warhorn or something and having a mount is?
I’m not saying I agree to having mounts, but is there really much of a difference? With “Strong Lungs” trait on my warrior, there is only two seconds between each swiftness blow of the horn. Would it really matter if I were riding a mount instead? And it applies to all allies, so it’s not like it’s a proffession specific thing. I mean my whole party has perma-move-fast. I like it, it’s convenient. I just don’t see the difference between that and us being on a horse of the same speed or something.
Note: I like foot travel in this game, I am not for mounts, I just don’t get the argument that going faster on a mount somehow destroys DE’s. If a mount would, then so does my swiftness.
Haha, I was there. Borlis Pass, yo.
Lol, it’s really not as complicated as you think. I level up with whatever weapons I’m in the mood for. It’s usually a ranged in the offside and either dual wielding swords or axes in the main. At level 80 when it starts to matter some, I’ve decided I love hammer for main, as the control in dungeons are tasty as hell. I use a long bow or rifle as my off depending on the situation.
To really answer your question. If you’re talking about dungeons, axe/axe is great (any melee you enjoy really also), there’s just some places and bosses you will prefer ranging, as melee gets decimated no matter your defense. I’ve done all the dungeons and whatnot and I only switch weapons when I need to range because the specific boss is just too hard to be in melee range. In my opinion, based on my personal play style, and the combination of professions that I pve with at level 80, You shouldn’t be too worried about swapping. If you play the character enough to get a good feel with it, you’ll be okay. This game allows for a whole lot more, “what I like” than other games. Find what you like and make it work.
I guess I play differently. I play for support. I stick with group and use my shout heals and my horn cleanses. I can’t blow people up, or probably even 1v1 much, but wvw isn’t about me, it’s about /us/. It’s amazing to know you’re supporting so much.
I play completely as a shout utility warrior. My shouts heal, and I use sword/horn and rifle. My job is to bleed everything and keep debuffs off my friends and convert them to boons, while being able to survive if a graveyard zerg seems to be the new tactic. I’m specced 0/25/15/30/0. It’s a weird build I’ve never seen anywhere, but with my group it’s amazing. We’ve four manned all the dungeons together.
To better answer your question: Play around. See who you play with, and see what works best with them and what is fun for you.
Can someone please tell me what this healing shout is? I’ve looked all through my skills and can’t find anything that removes condition, debuffs, and heals allies in any of the descriptions.
I have a larger problem with the Skritt. Why is it that so many quests have me killing them for money or something, then a few meters away I’m helping them for money? I don’t understand. Am I really just out for the rewards? I like skritt.
8/10, I like the way that flows and Miranda has always been a name I like.
My male is Aerin Stormborn. My name is Aaron, it’s just a different, less obvious way to spell it.
I like this as well. +1
My ranger and my girlfriend’s necromancer weren’t able to do AC story duo. We didn’t even make it to the first boss before we just gave up. Only about two levels later, two of our friends went with us and we four manned it, all of us being below level 35. We had a bit of a culture shock. Coming from duoing everything in WoW for so long at max level, we didn’t expect the dungeons to actually be hard, haha. As a four man group the lovers boss was really hard until we coordinated the boulders. Just my experience for you. Might help.
Personally, the issue for me is just when it involves exploits. I don’t really see how skipping via running /through/ a mountain is really something that should be allowed. Skipping via stealthing or otherwise cleverly avoiding mobs is just up to preference of the player. I understand the argument that some people will grief players by joining a group that advertised they weren’t skipping, and then skip to leave them with all the aggro. But that’s life. People exist who do nothing but get off trolling others. It happens every day in the real world, you can’t avoid it entirely. Just find people through trial and error who are like minded and enjoyable company and friend them and do stuff with them. It’s a highly social game, be more social. Skip if you want to skip, as long as it’s not exploiting, or don’t if you don’t want to. What’s so kitten complicated about that?
I am always a warrior. I do like this.
It’s a fantasy game /based/ on life as we understand it. Arguing about grammar in a language /similar/ to a real life one, is silly.
I chose Norn for the beards. Honestly.
I once played another MMO with a certain clothie magic class who could cast mirror images of itself. I learned to differentiate those because the human intelligence just acts extremely different under circumstances where it might die. If you can’t spot the mesmer moving around, with all it’s clones out after a few seconds, you should restart and try again.
