There is a move rangers have that should be on the warriors skills as well. I think its call rampage of the beast or something. They’re glowing red and it seems they’re immune to a lot of stuff until it wears off.

That’d be rampage as one, which grants Fury, Stability, and Swiftness for 20 seconds for both you, and your pet, as well as one stack of might for your pet for each time you hit your enemy, and one for you each time your pet hits an enemy.

Yeah that’s the one and warriors should have that type elite skill. It would be cool if they can hotfix that ability into the warriors Rampage elite skill since its a 180 second cool down. Warriors may spec into that more than always going with signet of rage cookie cutter pvp spec.

I usually wreck thieves underwater on my warrior better than on my thief. The first evade attack you might not can catch them often but the final attack which makes them evasion for about 3-5 seconds is avoidable since you can go somewhere else and watch them dance hitting nothing but water.

I also have no special problem with thieves that do not use the spear evade skill and have good iniative regen. However, I have seen time and time again a single thief holding off a group underwater, with just “evade, evade, evade, evade, evade”. They just sit on the point and spam the evade skill, its silly really.

Also yes I always attack from range- just means I lose the point quicker thief just evades everything I throw at them.

The only way i can see taking one down is to time a stun followed by a one-shot type attack just as the skill ends. However, since there is no CD and given good initiative regen, it seems almost impossible to pull this off (even if you had said stun and one-shot skill).

I guess those with initiative specs can pull it off because I can’t on my rogue. Mine doesn’t recharge that fast.

I’ve run into this problem as well and it’s the poster child for what’s wrong with this game. There are just too man poorly thought out skills and broken mechanics. To make matters worse the garbage just had to be a thief skill. The skill is beyond abusive but layering this in will all the other thief related issues and it’s a hard pill to swallow.

My guess Anet will take 2-3 months to notice and do anything about the problem. By then the game will have died.

Only way a hundred blades warrior can get ya is if you let them burst on ya on purpose or surprise attack from out of know where. If the hundred blades warrior got more tricks up the sleeves then good luck.

It’s not that effective as much as we think its suppose to be. Glass cannons can still burst you down if you have over 2k or 3k armor. The defensive traits are nice, but overall it is not effective.

Bottom line it isn’t acceptable. Anet has created one of the most lopsided PvP games I’ve ever played and they seem to not take balance very seriously. I’m all for taking adjustments slowly but when the bugs and balance issues are easy to spot and should be fixed asap.

I tried to get three of my friends to join on the free weekend and everyone one said the same thing. “Why would I subject myself to PvP with theifs and mezers so broken?” Also as new players getting dumped on by HB spaz warriors was frustrating as all hell for them.

PvP is more balanced here than in most games I have seen. With that said PvP here in GW is more about knowing your class knowing how things work and understanding things in the game. There are a lot of First time players that get dumped on, I did till I learned how to work with it and turn it against them. Unlike most other games this game requires skill to be good. Not sure why people think that Mesmer’s are broken, for your common Shatter builds you realize how many things have to be done in order to spike ?

I can agree the pvp is a bit balance in this game, but only to a certain extent because their will be those players that know the system on how to make the pvp in this game unbalance whether its based on skills or not.

You mean the point when a player understands how stuff and skills work and how to play to their full capability to maximize the build they choose? Cause that is not unbalancing that is called a learning curve, and admittedly the Learning curve is unforgiving in GW2 as it was in GW.

I am really smart, I just don’t take test well, you mean the part where we test you to see what you have learned?

Wooo I never said I wanted Heatseeker’s damage to be nerfed I said that a Kitten Thieve player shouldn’t be able to spam one skill ( like heartseeker ) and come out with just as much damage as someone using a string of 6 or 7 skills. My exact statement was put a cool down on it. Please I respect you as a poster but if your going to quote me do it right.

Sorry I thought it was about damage because it does too much damage that you wanted it to be on a cool down. However that won’t likely happen because thieves mechanics doesn’t work that way. It’s all about initiative and the max HS spam you can do is about 3 times at the start if the thief doesn’t do any other move. The only thing that makes HS very deadly is haste and if your hp is low. I think the only way they can fix that problem is rescale toughness where you absorb the damage, but then bunkers specs will be impossible to kill.

My only thing about this game when it comes to pvp is about survivability like classes that has teleport break stuns combine with stealth and ability moves that makes you evade attacks by 100% a.k.a mesmers sword ability. If teleport break stun was hotfix to being only available in pve then I can careless about the rest.

yea thats normal that just means half of your team ran away because they dont like getting spawnkilled at primary base. in a short time someone of the team with the abundance of players are forced to join the losing team..

Its allready 50 seconds cooldown… not sure what there needs a nerf as a stun breaker on 50 seconds cd is pretty long allready.
Heartseeker does not need damage nerf, it needs leser leap distance instead of 450 maybe 350 or 300. Thats that. But i cant accept nerfs untill they fix forever broken skills like Flanking strike. Btw as thief vs thief HS is allready crap,(personal opinion)

You’re referring to shadow step cooldown, but I’m referring to sword thief since I play one its constant depending how much initiative I have left. It’s probably the same for mesmer but with a lesser cooldown like 6 seconds.

They can just hotfix the HS evade mechanism and moves just like that so they won’t evade attacks anymore and the same goes for mesmer 1hand sword move. Those 2 classes right there already have two OP survivability moves like teleport break stuns and stealth.

Hate to burst your bubble, but HS doesn’t evade.

Crap..I must of gotten it confused with Death Blossom and if that’s the case HS should be left alone.

Knockbacks work against HS noobs, Just so you know I have done it countless times 1v1. that usually stops the HS spam hit. Again this isn’t about the evade it is about people that use 1 skill to do as much damage as someone that does 6 skills.

Since you admit to playing the HS build, why not play the other build that requires you to hit 6 or 7 skills? they have just as much survivability. If you fail to kill, then I guess you have to get out of there or fight to survive.

I am sorry again but the reason why dagger thieves spam HS is not for the Evade it is to do 18k – 21k damage with out much thought process. if it was just for the evade they would do it to get away rather than to do damage, or close the distance. rather they do it when they are in striking range.

Heart seeker can only get knock back or stun when the attack lands and you time it right before they start another heart seeker attack. The damage increases with heart seeker when players health pools decreases.

I can play other builds and still have my survivability like a mesmer since the only thing I’m missing is a evade mechanic that daggers offer.

Again evade is the issue if you want to talk about heart seeker.

No I am sorry but a one time evade for 2 seconds every 60 seconds is no where close to a evade for 3 seconds every 10 seconds or permanently. Honestly out of the say 100 times I have done that burst chain the evade aspect has only been in account maybe 13 times. When I am doing my burst chain the 2 seconds of Evade is not long enough ( not saying it needs to be longer by any means it is fine how it is ) that 2 seconds is enough time for the person to realize that I am in their face and usually they start hurting me.

Every type of build has a weakness Bunker builds can’t deal out tat much damage they are meant to hold points while survive. Can they kill people yes but not as fast as people either Spike or a mixture bunker spike.

Spike kill really fast but die really fast.

That isn’t the point of this thread though, the evade part of HS isn’t an issue really, the issue is HS Spam noobs are generating the same effect as those using 6 to 8 skills as they are using 1 skill.

Actually the evade mechanic is one of the main reason why dagger thieves keep spamming heart seeker and their other move that can do that. Nothing can’t counter it which adds more survivability to the thief class. When I play on my thief I use it because what’s going to counter me? I have my teleport stun breaker like a mesmer and stealth like a mesmer. So what’s going to stop me from killing a player or more and have other utilities to escape the trouble if I failed to kill that player?

So if the guardian is the best tank.
And the thief is the best pure melee burst.

What’s a warrior for?

I’ll just stand here next to my banners knowing im the only class in the game that can give you a paltry 70 condition damage in a small AOE circle.

And whoever thinks that cloth wearers need protection should probably actually play PVP first. I don’t even bother trying to take down elementalists anymore. I’ve seen them take on 5+ attackers at a time and walk away scratch-free.

Lol, going to call bullkitten on that last claim, unless the 5 people attacking the elementalist were new to sPvP which make it believable, but since bunker eles had their healing potential reduced in the last patch, it is quite difficult to hold out against 3 or even 2 good players. Oh and they are also 0 threat to you since they deal miniscule amounts of damage.

I have destroyed Bunker Ele’s with a Mesmer, not that hard 1v! it usually ends up in a stalemate, then again 1v1 per any bunker build and good player usually ends up in stalemate.

Warriors are the highest Burst class out there. I have seen Burst Glass Canons Obliterate people in a fraction of seconds. I have also seen Glass canon Warriors run at me and one knocked back stops it and they die just as fast.

The thing about glass cannon warriors is that if experience players already know their routine and moves since they do it over repeatedly with their limited utilities they have which is why warriors die faster than any class in pvp.

I see what your saying but the Mesmer 1 Handed sword move can’t nuke someone for 92% of their health either. I usually can only do about 7 to 10% health damage to someone by using that one skill. And stealth in general isn’t a problem, nor is any teleport ability, I personally think they work just fine. My main goal here is to stop players from generating the same results of someone that uses
* Stealth
* Signet
* Steal
* Backstab
* Venom’s
along with
* Sword phantasm
* Clone
* Switch to pistol shot
* Pistol shot
* Clone
* Switch places (imobolize)
* Sword skill
* Shatter

To someone that
* HS x3 18 to 21k damage

There is a big difference lol between someone utilizing multiple skills to generate a large spike than someone using one skill to do the same. I have been torn apart from chain Thieves using my example ( I may be off on the skill usages ) and I have no problem with that, every class can do that if you build that way. So I am not purposing the removal of something that helps them do that. So removing the Evade ability out of the 1 handed sword ability for Mesmer’s ( which has a Cool Down on it) and only last for 2 seconds ( which I have missed and failed the attack before ) is not the same as a skill that has no cool down and can be spammed multiple times to remove 92% of their health or not all.

Even if the mesmer’s evading sword attack doesn’t do as much damage as heart seeker. The point of those 100% evading attacks is out of balance along with the stuff I have mention. If they can hotfix those moves to where it’s not evading anymore then I can assure you that those classes that can do that will use it less because they want to survive too and not be countered. The learn to play excuse can only go but so far especially if a certain class has a lot utilities to be a one man army in the game when it comes to pvp like eles and guardians.

I don’t really think heartseeker is a one button spam to win. It’s a one button spam that wastes all initiative and usually thieves that do that are so bad anyway that they let themselves get one shot right afterword. I usually pick thieves out of groups just because they are so easy to kill in a few hits, even on my ele. What usually bugs me is warriors that hit like thieves but have 10k more hp than them.

Too bad it’s easy to burst down through that extra 10k hp you speak of with warriors.

If the bunker can consistently out-heal the DPS, ANY (and I do mean any…even 1HP) will EVENTUALLY win because the DPS is unable to get ahead of the healing. Plain and simple.

The numbers are obviously fabricated but given we’ve all seen then take on 2-3 opps at a time, I dont think its unreasonable to think they can very easily out-heal a single DPS…

You forgot the part where they literally cannot kill you unless they are either: much more skilled, outplaying you, or your build is not good and you are making too many mistakes to win.

Toughness should mitigate more damage. Even @ 3100 armor I’m still getting crit for over 6,000+ by numerous classes using physical attacks.

Siege weapons in WvW don’t even hit me that hard.

It would be great if they designed toughness to work that way in pvp, but I guess that’s the reason why Anet treats toughness as it is in Spvp/ Tpvp so that players can stand a chance against those with heavy armor like engineers, thieves and rangers. Casters and those who spec for conditional specs don’t have to worry about it much because conditional damage can go through toughness.

Are you actually telling me that guardians are weak in PvP Brutalisk? Do not forget they also have access to protection, the heaviest armour set, retaliation, as well as countless other defensive skills. A guardian symbol and shouts build with GS and Mace/Shield, is literally the ONLY build I cannot beat 1v1 ( ends up being an endless stalemate ).

Well in your other post you compared cloth wearers, calling them one man armies ( I assume you mean bunker eles ), to guardians which are just and strong at bunkering. I would agree that no one would take a warrior bunker over a guardian or ele bunker.

Yeah bunker eles are a big annoyance, but they don’t have stealth or teleport breaks stun moves so I do cut them some slack on survivability. It still does not clarify on how tough they are to kill though.

@ MindlessRuff Yes cloth wearers do need protection to survive, but how much protection do they need? If anything cloth wearers are like the one man army next to guardians when it comes to pvp.

@Raytek 27k hp is easy to burst through on a warrior because they don’t have very much toughness not like toughness matters much for a warrior They may have some defense trait but any genius player can wait for the defense buff to go away to open another burst damage attack again as if nothing happen.

@Aydenunited I’m sorry that you view thieves way when it comes to 1 vs 1, but don’t forget that thieves have good survivability to escape from danger better than a warrior or ranger. The worst part is they come back with full hp opening up with another burst attack.

I think what would make pvp a lot better if they hotfix teleport break stun moves to only work in pve than in pvp because the classes that can do that already have a stealth ability to get away. Having two great escape moves is overpowered in pvp while other classes only have one or zero at that if you want to include the non teleport break stun abilities.

P.S. I don’t know why guardians have teleports, but that’s another story.

To make this short compared to other classes. This is about as OP a warrior can get before getting condition and etc to death because its easy to avoid it when you’re looking at the warrior rushing at yeah. It only works if you don’t have anything up to defend against the attack or complete surprise attack.

Be happy warriors don’t have stealth abilities or teleport break stun abilities and if they did. Then I can say warriors are OP because otherwise compared to other classes excluding Rangers by a margin due to their stealth ability. Warriors are the most balance class in the game when it comes to pvp.

Don’t take the warrior I can assure you don’t need that class. You’re better off with another guardian or choose a necromancer to fill in the warrior slot. The warrior is only for support. As Monarach said classes far from balance when a lot of like teleports can break stuns which I think is unfair. If that’s suppose to be their survivability to move then hell pvp is pretty screwed until that’s fix.

It would be nice if it activated even if someone did a critical hit beyond 25% hp. Then it would be worth spending points. I hope they can rework that issue right there.

For those damage numbers the target needs to have only around 1k armor, even a guy in full Berserker gear will only take up to around 15k damage.

Glass thieves and eles have around 10K hp. Nuff said.

Dying to a thief in spvp seems to make it happen a lot. It happened to me in two maps both from thief’s.

I’m not sure if they are the case, but I somewhat believe it because it just happen to me not too long ago. Two rogues at that lol so yeah.

Anet has stated on multiple occassions that warriors are exactly where they want them to be.

The majority of the war changes were tooltip fixes anyways.

Usually skillful players just adapt and find a new build rather than complain. If the nerf was very bad where it affects everything then I can understand.

The same goes for newcomers…they just usually adapt to find a new build than complain.

You’re aware that thief has a huge number of issues with their narrowest-in-the-game weapon choices, right?

D/P’s dual skill is useless, its a gap closer that roots us on hit. P/P is non-viable; body shot is a waste of initiative (you will never use it), the auto attack and dual skills are at odds with eachother, and the spec has no way to access stealth, a thief’s main survivability mechanic. The S/P PW nerf places PW at less damage than auto attack, which roots us (a highly mobile class), and nothing prevents a target from walking out of the last 2 swings; it’s nearly useless outside of haste-PW spam. S/D was serviceable, but flanking strike is a joke (mediocre damage and doesn’t hit reliably on moving targets due to piss poor pathing).

So, that more or less locks us into dagger OH, which just received substantial nerfs with no reduction in init cost. Know what spec was affected the least? D/D glass cannon…the spec the CnD and Dancing Dagger changes were made to address. Oh yeah, the S/D daze lost .5s base, and is no longer affected by any condition duration abilities (not even the trait line which explicitly does so, and this was unmentioned in the patch notes). Shbow lost 15% on cluster bomb. As far as I can tell, the leeching venoms “buff” is an elaborate inside joke (i’ve seen reports of roughly 30 more health per venom proc between 1000 power and 2000 power, but can’t test successfully because it doesnt change for me regardless what my power is). We received almost no survivability compensations for massive loss in damage

Soooo, that leaves D/D glass cannon as our best option. Every other functional build lost more in the patch. Some of us don’t want to play an instagib spec, because its so binary.

So they just need to hotfix some of their weapon combos you just listed there so everyone can branch off the D/D Glass cannon spec. I hope that happens to because it will bring flavor to the thief class.

For players complaining about burst damage even when they high defense. They should work on that issue right there. If I have over 2k defense and still my health bar depletes dramatically because of a the burst damage attack. Then to me that’s truly unbalance and bad enough I’m suffering doing sustain damage, but that was my choice because I wanted to survive more.

The problem with the sharks isn’t just the sharks on ruins. It’s shark + player (usually Mesmer or Thief but any class) on ruins.

Hell, in my sPvP times when I was going for a win. I’d cap node quickly with Mesmer abilities and I could never lose it. Even when a team of 5+ came in I usually survived long enough to make a difference or reinforcements of one or two came in and we defended the point easily.
Obviously, when it comes to computer controlled AI for one player it’s a giant handicap for the one without em. And 3+ sharks means you’re not facing one player and a shark, but one player with equal skills as you (in a perfect world) and 3+ sharks with the ability to hit massive and make you bleed along with the futility of getting the cap (Won’t really know your underwater skills so well, necro minions disappear, reinforcement, cant fire cannon there.) People didn’t like it one bit and even detest that all spvp servers have it.

I guess I’m the only one who didn’t see anything wrong with it. I usually accept whatever the games offer and I accepted the fact that sometimes you need help to take over ruins depending whoever have it under controlled. If all fails on taking ruins then the team have to hold the other two bases until the defenses in ruins decreases unless the team can turtle the other two bases until game is over.

One player vs 10 shark would easily die to them, ANet think shark should be a support not a player killing machine, I guess.

If you have high defense you can survive the shark assault with ease and remove the bleed condition. The sharks are support when a team takes over the ruins and they guard whoever tries to take over the ruins. That was the one of the only challenges on that battlefield. Ever since they reduce the numbers a lot of scared players got braver now.

You can tell I dislike easy stuff :P.

I this issue is coming from a 1 vs 1 point of view and since that’s the case…get more higher defense. However sometimes having high defense isn’t the best case because some burst damage can burst through that easily sometimes. So maybe defense should be reworked so for those who spec for high defense should not have to worry about burst damage?

The Charr race might be into astronomy and those type of charr’s that would be into that stuff would mostly likely be in the Priory Order. The same goes for Norn race as well. As an individual charr or norn to be into astronomy…I can say the chances of that can be 1-10% if they get the influence from someone or they get into it themselves.
