Can’t you guys just wait and see what happens within 2-3 months? You guys want everything so freaking fast ignoring the fact you know good and well haste makes waste.
We know Beta is just testing grounds and this game was release not too long ago and it haven’t been a year yet. Just calm down for a while instead getting all hype up saying this game already dead, pvp is not competitive etc etc. This isn’t kindergarten guys you know good and well this game is still fresh and it’ll improve later on by taking small steps instead of large steps. If they take large steps then everything will go extremely unbalance than it is now.
Unfortunately games are not given this luxury anymore. Being that we are discussing pvp, we need other players to play against (casually or competitively). The game is hemorrhaging players with (as I see it) no real plan on attracting them back.
Wait and see? That is what beta should have been for. Currently I’m 1 of 2 people still left from a pool of 33 that left WoW and Rift to come over. There is no way for me to help draw them back into this game.
That’s a spoiled brat mentality and you know that. You say it should of been done in beta? Beta is what got the game flowing in the first place because it would suck it the game kept crashing every minute you try to go somewhere. That’s why beta is testing ground just to get the game flowing to get as much bugs out as possible. When the game was release to play for all that’s where the challenge starts and see how far the game can go.
Also for the part where you say players won’t come back. They will come back because one this game has no subscription and they would like to see what have come of the game from when they played it last time. For instance they took a year off so you know a lot has change and they might get hook right back into the game in no time.

I’ll say one thing… I wish a warrior bleed condition could stay that high for a while instead of rapidly depleting after flurry is done or trying to get high stacks.
Warriors are far better at single target bleeding. On my sword my autoattacks bleed for 15 seconds. With a bit of crit and an earth rune i can keep a very high bleed stack just with autoattack.
and it gets remove easily / as well as the stacks decreases easily when using flurry so don’t fool me about how good it is when I know how it works.
Sword / Sword isn’t bad in pvp it’s just our condition gets remove so easily and you feel hopeless like is this really how condition warriors suppose to be? Since we only have one condition. When you fight against a warrior you don’t have to worry about it too much because they don’t have much condition remove defense as other classes.
As for burst damage for sword it’s ok, but sword / sword combo is primarily a condition spec which needs to be work on it a bit to make it extremely viable in pvp.
I’ll say one thing… I wish a warrior bleed condition could stay that high for a while instead of rapidly depleting after flurry is done or trying to get high stacks.
OP, I’m also a D/D Ele. All I can tell you is that we are fairly evenly matched, so if you are of even skill level it’s going to be a very close fight. I can’t think of why any one class would have a leg up in this situation. It comes down to who is the better player overall, and who makes the fewest mistakes IMO.
This was a duel I had with a mesmer just for reference. Not the best gameplay, I made a lot of mistakes, but still it was a fun fight. Hope maybe that helps a bit.
sorta looks like my fight but mine was longer, try the entire match length just me and the mesmer just going back and forth between nearly killing each other we nearly killed each other multiple times, it was a really really close fight, few mistakes were made, and mos that were made were made at a time where it wouldn’t be disastrous staff condition and support ele here
A warrior wouldn’t even last that long in that type of fight especially with all those supporting boons and maintaining the health high.
Call it skills or not…I can say a warrior is outclassed in that type of fight.
It’s tough to fight a mesmer because
1:You’re dealing with a class that have clones with a smart AI sytem
2: Even if you ignore the clones or destroy them they do a lot of damage and leaves conditions on you and if you’re a warrior class it is game over because they do not have passive condition removal skills.
3: Depend what weapon they use you’ll always have issue with the sword immune damage dash attack.
4: Just like thieves except worst they have teleport break stun abilities and can switch to a clone position while leaving a clone from where they teleport from.
It’s pretty much a one man army class just like a bunker ele, guardian or engineer.
I think the only class that can stand a chance against them are necros, thieves and engineers from my perspective.
The whirling axe change is actually great. That ability went from the absolute best to the worst after they removed stability. At least the other more underwhelming steal abilities didn’t make me a free kill.
Be true to yourself because you know good and well if they have kept all those abilities to whirling axe to thieves then Warriors with axe offhand will share the same benefit. It’s better they put it on equal terms like a normal whirling axe instead of being an unbalance skill.
Hundred Blades deals 1224 more damage then backstab does.
Kill Shot also does more damage then backstab does if you add in the 3% damage from burst tree, even more if you take into account burst traits… Kill Shot can also pierce and hit an infinite number of targets.
You want to know what kill shot and hundred blades don’t have?
Stealth and teleports…
be happy we thieves can escape the damage.
7 People was too many when an actual dev was on who had big announcements.
The problem with having the host be from a fan site, and wannabe e-sport heroes as guests, is that they threw a lot of softballs to Anet and glossed over or didn’t address the most important issues for players who might be considering coming back.
As people here have pointed out, MMR won’t work with the present population since with so few teams newer people will still get matched against vets which defeats the purpose. The population issue MUST be addressed before anything else.
It also makes no sense in the present tournament system since a noob bracket tournament would be getting the same qualifier points reward that a vet bracket receives.
One of the things that might bring people back is a legitimate solo queue, but we got the answer that this isn’t going to happen.
Also people want single ranked matches, not tournaments that require 40 people and 45 mins with a lot of downtime just to take part in a basic competitive game. He said this was being considered, but was very vague when this is probably one of the most important changes that need to be made.
They didn’t even talk about the ticket entry fee barrier monetization scheme, probably because the monopoly teams that were represented don’t care, but it is hurting the population.
From an Esport’s perspective, until Anet puts up some money rather than making vague promises, there is no reason to take this game seriously and be a free-labor beta tester for some far off hope that the game will take off.
The overall message was pretty much that there is really no reason to play the game presently. We are better off letting the guys on the show test these proposed features then maybe return once a legitimate competitive system is actually implemented.
The problem is that 3-6 months down the line the game will be so far from release that it will be a major challenge to get people to come back even with the perfect system. And like it or not, its the masses that make a game successful, not the ‘pros’.
but…it hasn’t been a year yet…..and can you see into the future within 3-6 months?
Woah! this got bumped down to page 3?!
No way, i want the dev’s to see this on page 1 every day.
This is not something they can just stick in their heads in the sand and hope it goes away.
They do see this everyday and they’re aware of it. If anything we are just ranting off our frustration about the issue and that’s ok you got to vent it off somehow either through your home or on the forums. They said it’s suppose to be fix by tomorrow from what I heard from the State of the game interview video.
I must say that Charr physiognomy baffles me. Theirs catlike features versus their bowane ears and horns. Are they race imagined to be “catpeople” or something similar to taurens? Combination of both or neither? Discuss!
I can sum Charr up thusly:
Look familiar?
I’ve seen that movie before! It’s Norn and the Charr! I’m joking :P, but it makes me wonder though if they got their charr idea from this?
Why did you black out his face? :P
He had a pretty face that no one should be able to copy from.
All I’m going say is this….if players decline on the auto balance. They don’t switch over and that other team just have to wait until someone shows up. I can understand if they choose to volunteer or take chances, but if they choose neither thae they don’t go over.
It’s that simple…..
Edit: This is because I knew the loading screen curse would occur….and it did.

If there’s no new map type or game mode in the next couple of months then I think sPVP is done for.
It was a mistake to go with Conquest only. All this talk about high end meta is meaningless if the mode is not a draw itself. You need to have something many people care about first. Even the people playing everyday will have no audience to play for and no new blood to care about.
The top two issues are the lackluster traits and the lack of variety in game modes.
I’m not going to worry about new maps anytime soon. All I’m concern about is how they’re going to handle the classes and ranking system. As of now I’m just practicing on my alts to see what spec is good in Spvp and Tpvp.
@ Xeph I do have one question though…are condition warriors acceptable in tourneys or not?
No it’s not bad….when pvp isn’t involved.
If you run with zerk amulet and dmg runes you have to expect that. End of the story.
You can run with any amulet or runes and still end up with the same result.
LOL…one question..
Have you EVER played the game? If you get facerolled by bs thieves with every gear well…seriously…go play metin2 or wow…
Actually there are ways to not being killed also in full scholar zerk gear…strange uh?
I don’t think I would be commenting on here if I didn’t play the game right? plus I play a thief as well and I know what I’m talking about so I don’t what you’re justifying.
Oh…so you play a thief and you faceroll everyone with bs? Tomorrow i’ll add you and join with you in spvp, let’s see if you can faceroll me…I’ll drop soldier’s amulet going with zerker (So i’m already doomed if you’re right) and S\D…deal?
We’re going to get nerf Archaon no matter what point you’re trying to prove. It’s going to happen and we know the reason so quit being silly.
They already nerfed S\D dazelock and i’m not worried about other nerf, as i managed to modify my build affter tactical strike and mes runes not working anymore, i would do it again.. I’m just saying that it’s a bit childish to ask for nerf on something that is totally counterable for every class with just a little brain..
No use talking to these people they have their omg i killed by thief because i wasn’t looking blinders on. They will sit here and complain rather than learning how to counter such an easy mechanic. Sigh
Sometimes you can’t counter an easy mechanic /wink
If you run with zerk amulet and dmg runes you have to expect that. End of the story.

sigh thieves are the easiest class to kill…pop a block or a stun break….hell if you dodge while he steals you dodge the ENTIRE combo. You need only stun or chain them once and you got em.
and for the stealth whiners just HIT THE AIR its not like he teleported hes still there, ESPECIALLY when they shadow refuge just spam that little circle and it will die.
stop complaining and play the game
I keep hearing thieves try to sell this dodge theory, but I’ve never seen anyone do it successfully when i play my thief.
I only have to sit in shadow Refuge for 2 seconds then I can leave the circle and retain stealth. I get halfway across a map before the stealth runs out so you didn’t see my shadow refuge go off and you have no clue that I’m there. Shadow Refuge is also a pretty large circle and it’s very easy for me to avoid someone wildly swinging a sword.
Even if my stealth ran out my steal re-stealths me, so the only way your gonna avoid a 19k dmg off mug/steal Bs is to be pyschic, Holy crap can you read minds?
I’m also very well aware of every viable ranger build and there all pretty much free kills never had a ranger defeat my thief 1v1 lol and I will prove that to any ranger in hotjoin.
sigh complain all you want all the mechanics to dodge it are there, use them bro stop complaining, thieves only one shot people who are new or people who are taken by surprise, even then its not a 1 shot combo since the c&d nerf.
You don’t see any Tpvpers complaining do you? It is sadly that, [L2P] if you think thieves are your crux than pick one up and try using it then you will know what too look for to counter them, not too hard.
I’ve tried every profession and i rotate between guard, mes, ele, thief, and necro not in any order just what i feel like playing.
TL;DR
If your complaining about thief and you only play hot joins try Tpvp.
If you say so Mr. experience knowing everything knowing every situation at anytime.
If you run with zerk amulet and dmg runes you have to expect that. End of the story.
You can run with any amulet or runes and still end up with the same result.
The charr battle roar is an inferior version of FGJ. Not worth slotting
It’s great when you stack it up with signet of rage, FGJ and signet of might. It serves its purpose just fine.
IIRC swords have the highest direct damage of any condition weapon of any class right? It should be weaker than GS and axe, since they don’t do anything but direct damage. IMO the damage isn’t really the problem, but the easy removal of conditions.
That’s pretty much what my topic is about is how easy it is to remove a condition warrior condition in pvp. That’s why I think a buff like either get a poison condition as Braxxus said or make it where those who spec into the trait deeper cuts. The bleeds can’t be removed until 5 seconds later and this trait can’t be activated again after 10 seconds has passed.
If longbow applied a bleed along with the burn (attack #2 and burst), I’d call warrior conditions complete.
Sigil of Earth + 50% Bleed Duration + 33% Chance to Bleed on Crit = ~6-7 steady stacks of bleeds. Auto attack gives two chances, fan of fire three, and while your combo field pulses direct damage. 3 Krait Runes & 3 Affliction Runes +20 Points into condition duration will give you 100% duration on your bleeds. Sigil has a 2 second internal cooldown, but the chance to bleed on crit does not.
Longbow also has a double 100% projectile finisher with Stronger Bowstrings. That means you can also apply Poison and Confusion in the right group setting.
I’m confused about the long bow part. What do you mean in the right group setting we can apply poison and confusion?
(edited by Brutalistik.6473)
The sword is actually a hybrid weapon. It gets about 50/50 direct damage and condition damage. Toughness/Prec/CD is not maximizing the sword’s potential. If they buff Con Damage, they need to lower the sword’s direct damage.
That’s like saying death blossom should receive a nerf or any classes that can apply direct damage and condition. However sword direct damage isn’t as strong as great swords or axes. If anything it’s on par with maces or about as close.
I’m with bettadenu. The last thing the warriors need is a buff. You should just be happy where you are.
I’m not sure where you can say warriors are balance or what spec is balance because overall the results goes between balance, unbalance and broken depending on what spec you are.
I know for sure condition warriors using swords have a difficulty applying their bleeds because it can be removed easily since it’s our only condition we can apply while others classes have 2 conditions or 3 to apply on one single target. Long bow has its own flaws as well because for you to apply a condition the players must stay in the combustive shot aoe area or get hit by fan of fire which it’s duration only last 2 seconds 1/2.
I think long bow auto attack should apply fire arrows when you spec into the trait burning arrows instead of benefiting off a elementalist using firewall or standing in combustive shot. This will make Longbow more worthwhile to play in pvp and in pve making an condition warrior smile.
Rifle weapon is fine where it’s at because it can treat as condition spec or glass cannon spec and they also get a bonus trait to reduce their cool downs.
Please take a look at and discuss about condition warriors gameplay in pvp.
GUYYYSSS!!
Guru is holding an open-table discussion in the coming day with J. Sharp and other prominent players in the tPvP scene:
November 30th at 8 PM. GMT+1 (11 AM. PST) on the own3d.tv/gw2guru channel
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/news/904-guru-state-of-the-game-stream-featuring-arenanet-developer-jonathan-sharp/Hope this yields something substantial about GW2’s PvP.
That’s nice and all, but I hope they read the profession forums to be updated with current status of profession pros and cons in pvp. Some might not be able to make it to their stream broadcast event. That’s why we post on the forums so they can read our feedback on what we think which profession spec needs to be looked at for pvp.
A thief can get their bleeds stack up to 20 with caltdrop trait quicker than my flurry and their duration last longer than ours. staying at 20 stacks . It is quite frustrating how they design warriors condition spec without seeing its flaws and counters in pvp.
In short, I prefer my bleeds to be short but deadly.
^
This (and the reasons he gave for why as well)Having said that, I’ve moved on from playing bleeds to axe/horn now, cause of the limitations of bleeds.
I’m still struggling through it, hoping there is light at the end of the tunnel someday when a dev goes “OMG! Guys, hey guys! I just realized that our design for condi warriors is pretty bad. How can we fix/buff them to be viable?” and does it.
*I do get frustrated and swap over to GS + x/horn though at times because I’d like to feel viable for a little bit on the battlefield now and then in W3
I know what you mean..:/ I don’t want to be the cookie cutter spec when this game has so much variety of options you can spec into for pvp instead being limited.
How about instead…you decrease the duration of Warrior Bleeds?
Make it so they have 2 kinds of bleeds: small and big. The small persist like they do now and maybe do less damage while the big cause lots of damage but last for a very short time (perhaps only for 3 tics).
Ultimately, you’ll stack fewer bleeds (without some sort of condition duration/bleed duration +stat) but do more damage in a shorter time. Basically, by the time someone goes to remove the bleeds, the big ones have already done their harm and only the small ones are around to blow your cleanses on.
Sounds like a cool mechanic small bleeds dot does the normal bleeds damage and big does more dot damage, but the timer is extremely short.
As for the long bow stepping into the field of fire to do fire arrows. How about the trait burning arrows does exactly as it says doing fire damage while auto attacking and it does 10% more damage to flame targets. Only those who wants to use a long bow and have fire arrows coming from their auto attacks have to spec into the trait. This can make the long bow weapon even more worthwhile to use since dual shots damage doesn’t do as much damage as much as the rifle auto attack which can stack bleeds as well.
condition removal is not that big a deal in my experience, especially if you save your flurry after they blow the removal even if you didn’t auto sword stacks bleeds like a champ with 33% trait, as soon as they remove in most cases i stack another 5-8 bleeds in like 4 auto attacks. the classes that are very good at removing conditions (guardians, necro, theif stealth trait, ele trait) all are easily handled with the exception of guardians being probably the hardest to make your conditions stick too especially if they run smite.
Necro’s are plauged with bugs like 80% of the time if they remove the conditions i am still doing more burst damage so it doesn’t really change the outcome in my experience, when they convert my boons to conditions gives me more trouble than them removing conditions on themselves.
Theifs are annoying when they stealth to remove bleeds/heal , but i find half of them still come out of stealth with bleeds ticking away meaning they are not running that trait. one time i even flurried right after one was trying to get away and he came out of stealth taking a dirt nap right where i rooted him lol.
Ele d/d bunker spec right are such a handful that without condition damage ignoring armor protection boon i doubt i would stand any chance 1v1 when they switch between water and earth for protection and heals and occasionally trying to burn me in fire atune but i just wipe that away with shouts and rifle stack bleeds because they move around so much its hard to always hit them with sword and wait for magnetic aura then volly/killshot after its blown. still a tough fight just like with guardians i have came across where we just can’t kill each other fast enough and it always drags on like a stalemate till one person gets help from someone else.
Ele bunkers aren’t hard anymore ever since I switch to rifle especially since my sigil is earth and I also replace my shield for an offhand sword to apply more bleeds.
The only hardest class I have a tough time with is mostly what you listed up there, mesmers always unless they’re newcomers and shout warriors that can remove conditions with ease.
I don’t see many warriors using condition specs in Spvp often. It is either glass cannons or in between.
The issue is that too many abilities can remove their condition, or turn them into boons. This makes condition warriors less appealing to play although players would not mind playing them if it actually can bring something into the table besides only 1 condition dot.
Since warriors only have 1 condition dot mechanic maybe it should be tougher to remove than the other classes. They can hot fix it into a trait in the arms tree like Deep cuts. Bleeds can last longer by 50% and bleeds cannot be remove until 5 seconds later since a few classes can remove condition passively every 3 seconds or 10. If possible maybe a little buff towards their bleed dot damage.
For the long bow weapon I think they need a reduce cool down ability trait like the other weapons. It can be hot fix into burning arrows and can be rename to Archery specialist.
These are just my thoughts to give condition warriors some flavor since they are the least played specs among them all.
Anet you really have to work on this issue even if you are. Just throw in a patch or something and maybe that might do the trick. This issue can’t be this hard to accomplish and as you can tell it is really getting tiring we have to go through issue for almost 2 weeks now and more to come?
I run with sup runes of afflicted when i play condition. As an added bonus, you apply poison (death nova) when you get downed, which has surprisingly won me fights now and then.
In the end its a pretty gimmicky build. It does well against a certain things (some bunkers, and thieves), but gets dumped any sort of team that has even half-decent condition removal. Glass cannon GS is still the safest choice at the moment, as weird as that sounds.
Yeah with so much conditional removal abilities it has its limit, but as long I keep reapplying the condition it keeps them sweating. I’m using the rune of the krait right now and like the guy or girl said it’s pretty awesome except for the last bonus. The last bonus is only great on the Capricorn map.
I would if they’re interested in MMO’s or want to try something and take a break from their current MMO they were playing…otherwise nah.
which would be the best choice between human or nord?
Whatever appeals to you the most.
What appealed to me the most for the warrior class was Charr and Norn.
I went with a female charr.
Some like Dolyak but the regen is so little its practically worthless. Toughness>Vit for warriors since our base health is already the highest toughness will help Efective hp because it benifits from your already high base health.
dont play much sPvP but if i did i would play around with any high toughness runeset, then probably settle with Divinity for the all around boost if i wasn’t running shouts. Rune of Lyssa is also mighty tempting with Sigil of rage being a pretty short cooldown especially since you miss out on condition removal from rune of soldier. Rune of Undead would also be worth testing out especially if you replace some of your gear with toughness instead of vit that 5% tough convert to condition damage could be helpfull if you have high toughness. Rune of Krait would be awesome if not for its stupid 6th slot that is absolutely useless. it needs like bleeds have extra tic of damage when they are finished/removed in its final bonus to be number one bleed condition rune set.
I don’t know.. I haven’t been a fan of toughness much especially on a warrior. The rune of undead doesn’t sound bad, but I think I might try out rune of rage getting both burst and conditional damage together in one package.
Good luck.
There’s just not a whole lot of promise for condi warriors and believe me I wish there were. I’ve been stubbornly trying to make a condi warrior work for ages.
Thanks I’ll try to figure out something then and make it look appealing next to glass cannon warriors if possible.
It has a lot of potential, but the bug fixes/balances are coming in slow. Spectator mode and matchmaking are a must. The player base are leaving in quick numbers though …
Those that left will most likely will return to sample out the new stuff.
Thanks for the report! We could use a bit more information on this:
- Did you transmute the skin onto another weapon? Do you remember the target weapon name that got the skin?
- If not transmuted, what is the name of the weapons you are using? No transmute, but the weapons names are
Carrion Verdant Blade of Air
Carrion Verdant Axe of AirWell this might be working as intented as their names include “air” lol
That’s good to know cause I was getting tired of looking at my charr running with weapons on her feet. It gave me a skiing vibe when I was jumping around.
Too early to tell how pvp will be a year from now or either 6 months.
My spec is 0/30/20/0/20 and the amulet I use is Pow/vit/con. I want to know what’s a good superior rune to support this build.
The weapon I use is Sword / shield and LongBow.
You gotta love when these players say WE as if they were speaking for everyone.
any paying customer has a right to point their opinions, learn to take criticism or don’t speak at all.
if you don’t see that people are frustrated because the spvp is ’’DEAD’’, then you’re playing something else. I am yet to come on forums and see an optimistic post about spvp.
hard to be optimistic when the design team itself confesses that they have 2 people working on spvp design.
but then again its just me whining on forums.
Well they did said they were hiring so when they get more people in that field Spvp and other pvp activities will come into play. You can be optimistic about Spvp saying it’s fun and all, but the down side of it is class balance with stats scaling on its back a.k.a toughness.
I thought there was an age restriction for people to own this game, however you can never pose an IQ restriction can you?
OP – incredibly weak and unproductive critique, but hey you can always play something else.
I’m baffled by amount of pure whining in this section of the forum, 5 minutes in and getting more depressed by reading thread after thread, “game is dead”, “pvp is dead”, “anet dosn’t prioritize”, “anet hates us” – and then a long and rather boring list of things to justify unjustifiable claims – wtf?
Funny thing that if you go to forums of the games those OP’s so sympathize you’ll find out them saying same crap about those games too (good chance those are the same people).
Peace,
Volted.
Oh snap I usually hold back on the name calling, but sometimes it’s well deserved to the exaggerators trying to see if they can get a reaction from Anet themselves. I agree too these are probably the same people who hop over from different games they don’t like and start singing the QQ merry go around rant song on the forums.
The toughest job for them to do is actually doing the most simplest thing if they don’t like the game. That is actually quitting the game and not responding on the forums, but they want to voice out their opinions and hope the crowd joins their bandwagon.
Nothing wrong with that, but it’s kind of wasteful and comedy to the forums.
The combat in this game is great, but I definitely wouldn’t pay for the kind of PvP experience we have here. Sad to say this, but WoW PvP back when I played was a lot more balanced and entertaining than PvP in GW2, so that’s probably where I’d throw $15/month if I had to.
WoW was never balance anytime in their pvp history, but it was entertaining that’s for sure. If you want to compare today’s WoW pvp to GW2 pvp then you know good and well WoW pvp is out of its league. You can tell difference by the gameplay no lie man.
Any class should be able to find a stealth class as long they have a flash light, flare or campfire.
Carrion Verdant Axe of Air
Are you underwater? It looks like it yet there is not breath mask on your face.
Nah I was just jumping so the weapons on my feet can be visual. Seems likes its a dual wield glitch for charrs or could be female charr specifically dual wield glitch with this weapon only.
This is a second picture just me rolling with weapons on my feet.
