What are you talking about? all professions are fine in pve except armor wise. Some can handle mobs depending on their builds and some can’t. Ignore the this profession can solo this dungeon nonsense. Kudos to the professions that can solo some dungeons, but I can guarantee 100% that not everyone can accomplish the solo dungeons stuff.

In pvp you see the difference where each profession stands pro and cons. Warriors are mainly one of the few that doesn’t do well in pvp. Let’s not include WvW even though that’s pvp as well, but that’s zerg vs zerg most of the time and sometimes you face low level gear players which doesn’t accomplish much. Spvp shows you the potential of each professional and Tpvp shows you what needs to be required to make the team advance. As many times I’ve done paid Tpvp I don’t see many warriors representation there. You’ll be lucky if you get to see one warrior in the higher tiers, but I can assure that not many are up there.

Sure players can say it’s a L2P issue, but overall results they’re a underpowered profession in pvp. Usually due to conditions, lack of survival boons and limited weapons to choose to be viable in pvp. How often do you see someone DW in the top tier tpvp bracket? probably 0% especially if they’re DW sword combo.

For pve you’re okay there since any profession does well in it, but for pvp you’re pretty limited like some other professions.

Only professions I’ve that have high health pools even though that does not matter much in pvp are warriors, engineers, rangers and necros while others are under 20k hp, but still does decent in pvp.

warriors are nothing but plated thieves…except thieves can be good with conditions as build as well.

Warriors don’t need a nerf, if anything other builds like DW needs a buff along with condition spec and their survivability.

Engineer elixir X: immune to all everything for 3 seconds and the cool down is 60 seconds. It can be activated another time when the hp is lower at certain % if traited.

Warriors Endure pain: can ignore only physical damage for 3 seconds and the cool down is 90 seconds. It can be activated another time when the hp is lower at certain % if traited.

Anet has lots of work to do and I know they’re aware of it if they want to reach their goal.

Be grateful you don’t play a warrior profession.. you’re limited and at a lot disadvantages ;p

The only thing that will be a fact is that this game needs to provide more features and that’s about it. You will get that type of response from any regular player that isn’t so fixated small stuff like comparisons between games.

Condition Warriors are viable.

Yeah condition is viable to a certain extent, but don’t expect to see many in Tpvp because not many players will stand in a ring a fire and they will cleanse off bleeds conditions.

Overall you’re holding your team back especially when a necro can do it better let alone a con thief.

I target warriors first because a downed warrior is a dead warrior. We have a garbage downed state. So do necros, engies, and rangers.

Actually rangers aren’t that bad because they have a AoE interupt when downed.

You know it would be nice if

A) Warriors down state #2 gets a AoE stun like bangs fist to the ground and everyone is stun whoever near the warrior

B) Necros down state #2 gets a AoE fear

C) Engineers down state #2 Aoe interrupt should be similar to rangers.

That right there would be give those professions some survivability for down state unless stability is activated then… oh well they tried.

WvW is pretty much world pvp warcraft because you do fight low gear players in that zone unlike in hot joins Spvp a.k.a S..pid pvp or Tpvp. In hotjoins or Tpvp you see where your profession stand and warriors are underpowered in those two fields.

Why?
I did some Tpvp facing against some Top Tier1 skilled teams and to my surprise each team I fought did not have a warrior in their combination. Why don’t they have a warrior in their combo? It’s because they don’t truly need one since warriors don’t bring much to the table besides banners or hit and run glass cannon builds.

Warriors are usually target first because they are a non threat profession that can be killed off easily without help. They can’t bunker well so there isn’t much to fear about them.

Overall this isn’t how warriors suppose to be viewed or played in general. If anything they suppose to have utilities to make them dangerous in pvp than just raw direct damage. Anyone can be a warrior in a game just charge into a enemy like a ele and there you go a warrior, but with magic. Warriors knows magic as well “scholar warriors” which mean they can wield magic weapons which can be perfect for the condition spec tree, but that’s another story.

back on topic…Warriors have the title master of arms and knowing the battlefield better than other professions so that has to mean something there.

I’m not saying make them godly, but please make them useful so warriors can bring something to the table especially for pvp.

I wouldn’t be too sure about the subscribers rate because most of them just bots or people from cages farming gold to post websites to give ya free gold for lots of money. That’s the where the subscription rate comes from. I mean why not it’s a great deal and no one will ever know because WoW is only $15 a month and to those bots / farmers who sell gold on websites it’s pocket changes. They can purchase as many copies of WoW as long people like us “not me though” buy gold from them etc etc the cycle continues.

i guess the same can be said of gw since on a regular basis i get whisp/emailed ingame by gold sellers. to suggest that a majority of the player base in WoW are farmers is just ridiculous since gold is so easy to farm like 2 yrs back. it still doesnt negate the point that people are still willing to p2p a game 7 yrs old and with a larger player base than gw2 b2p

Well that’s an easy answer because WoW easy to play than it is here in GW2. You can’t tank 30 mobs as a higher level here than you can do in WoW and go afk as a healer because your hp regen high as well. The list will go on between comparing the two game.

That’s not trolling because that’s fact. You can dodge a fireball attack in here which relies on endurance while in WoW you have use a skill to dodge which last 20 seconds.

again ur not talking “skill” ur talking game mechanics since there is no healer in this game of course u cant tank 30mobs and thats true of any game where there is no healer.

You can tank 30mobs as a warrior in WoW and just only in a low level zone. The difference between GW2 and WoW is when you go to a low level zone in GW2 your level goes down as well. It makes it challenging because you can’t walk through a zone one shotting everything as you can in WoW.

Once you fail in the eyes of the mmorpg player he wont come back trust me……first impression is the most important otherwise they will go back to their old mmorpg again. I am quite dissapointed ANET didnt focus on pvp while they were doing everything for pve players. My friendlist went down from 30 online to 3 or 5 players online so my friends left to WOW and so I left also….just to play with them and I have fun I didnt have in GW2 for month…

They’ll be back later to see how the game is when pvp has more features and balance etc. Mainly because this game doesn’t have a subscription fee.

Wow had it’s time, but when that dev Ghostcrawler came in with Activision whatever. The game just got watered down tremendously stupid fun that there wasn’t anything creative to the game anymore. I miss being a sword smith making my own epic swords that gives me a nice procs for pve and pvp. The pvp wasn’t that bad either I liked how the talent trees were before Wotlk came along where you truly have to focus down one tree to be viable in raids. Then came the gear check crap and if you’re not pass a certain even if you dps is amazing than the higher gear check guy. You won’t be pick and if you are you’ll be the blame of the group because of your gear.
Raiding was like a second job in that game anyway especially people wanted you to be there at a certain.

WoW has its up and down but there is a reason why we don’t see too many PC magazines or shows repping it how good it is now. If you want to play a watered down game with no creativity then WoW is the game for you.

Vanilla and their first expansion BC is when the game truly shine in versatility / creativity, but now everything is half done, incomplete and tone down to a point where you’ll say “why do they even bother” in “Cao Pi’s voice”

DW kind of useless in this game for warriors overall especially with swords. The direct damage just sucks that bad so leave the DW to thieves and other professions that can do it better. Stick to twohanders especially GS because you’ll get better damage results than DW.

As someone who has played thief, ele, necro, and warrior on spvp regularly, I’m going to tell you that if you do things right the warrior is just as competitive as the other classes i mentioned, if not more. Play around with your builds!

So True. People who have problems with the warrior really means that they don’t have a decent build and does not understand their mechanics IMO.

Overall result the profession has problems plain and simple. If the developer, high rank top Tpvp players, and Spvp regulars says warriors has problems with something yet the other players still want to deny it. There must be something bad in the air and it reeks.

It’s not that they laugh at them it’s just sad they even ignore what the head developer among high rank Tpvp players says that warriors are at a disadvantage. When you ignore someone with more experience in the field of knowledge than you, knowing good and well he construct the profession. I play a warrior that I run in hot join but would never consider doing so in TPVP. THewarrior will almost always be the first burn target, they do decent damage but mostly because they are 1 of the easiest classes to burn in the game. They also have 1 of the worst down mechanics so when you get them down you can almost guarantee that you will stop them. They do far less damage than some of the other melee classes, they are 1 of the worst range classes in the game, and a joke for a bunker.

More like “I can’t play a class that takes skill because I play double D/D Ele or double Mesmer with my team.” Anything else to say? Because that’s really how it looks like, no offense.

Don’t regret it when Warriors get over-buffed because YOU can’t make the class work due to lack of decency to get better at the class. Just putting it out there.

Don’t get me wrong, Its nice to ALSO allow casuals to play Warrior at a competitive level, but when ANET over-buffs characters due to people having no clue on how to make Warriors work (Much like in Ele’s case), then that’s just sad. Why? Bad balancing decisions are made because people like you talk before actually seeking out potential. Big fail right there that can’t be avoided.

On a side note, not like I’d make much of a diff in balancing this class out anyways. Because guess what? At this point Warrior might as well get buffed with something broken like triple swap just so casuals can stop complaining on how this class is “not viable” cause its so hard to understand and play. Regardless the reason we know for sure warriors won’t get over buff. If they become more challenging to the professions that use to be its butt left and right like a con thief, ele and many others. Then that’s good to hear because Anet did a good job with the buffs on warriors.

this is purely personal opinion, but warriors need buffs like engineers need nerfs.

that said i became a warrior after leveling an engineer to 80 in WvW, a necro to 80 and a ranger. try any one of these classes and come back and complain about warriors being weak, or you know… don’t

Did you also ignore the fact I said other professions needs love too in my previous post? I think you did Mr. zergfest I think you did.

There are those who think warriors are balance while calling every else whiners , bad players ignoring the facts we are referring about traits, skills and etc.

It even hurts more when those proud prideful so call warriors think the class is balance ignoring what J.Sharp the developer himself said about warriors in Game of state video saying warriors are at a disadvantage.

Cry me a river nevertheless the gameplay of warriors overall needs to be improved for pvp and the same goes for other professions seeking to play other builds in pvp.

The warrior trait shrug it off cool down should be reduce 10 seconds instead of 30 seconds. If you see some other professions they have traits that have conditions being removed every 10 seconds.

Thieves profession removes conditions every 3 seconds if trait for it only when they’re stealth. I think they’re the only profession that doesn’t have a condition removal skill.

To me it seems to be a going trend now in a lot of mmorpgs with the warrior class. They can excel at pve with no problem, but in pvp it’s like they’ve been limited down pass the mark where other classes will stand a chance instead of breaking a sweat to survive a warriors assault. Warriors have the Superman curse which means they know how powerful warriors can be, but they need to tone them down so the class can balance out with the other classes.

Warriors do have a title and it’s called master of arms whether it’s range or melee. They can excel at it and they know the battlefield of combat better than other classes. The only weakness warriors have is not being too subtle and they don’t know much magic either besides the basics like fire, teleport, etc.

Warriors with magic in GW2 version are called guardians while other mmorpgs call them paladins.

So yeah overall I think it’s just the devs don’t want to make warriors too strong "not like they are with all the disadvantages they have to go against*. They just don’t want to turn this game into Guild Warriors 2.

This is just my view though of warrior class in general.

I do not main a warrior, I main an engineer, but I have all professions at 80 and geared up. with some of the dysfunction and bugs plaguing other professions, warriors have it golden, yet cry like I see on this thread?

If some of you that are complaining, got out and leveled other professions, to see what it is like for the other classes, you would be ashamed of yourselves for complaining about this profession.

This thread is mostly about pvp than pve and you’ll understand where some are coming from. Sure warriors looks fine in pve mostly because they excel at pve, but in pvp they seem pretty limited like a few other professions that have to choose certain specs to be viable.

They don’t need anything else when playing in Spvp because warriors end up facing noobs left and right. Now when warriors enter competitive pvp the warrior is outclass and must force to roll support spec or glass cannon spec. They also have control benefits here and there to keep some opponents occupy.

You see the thing with glass cannon warriors is that they need to stay in groups or if they lucky to find a bad player or average they can beat them in 1 vs 1. They use all their cool downs and once that goes its nothing but defense time. They don’t have much survivability unless they have mobility weapons.

We do but it benefits us little with the lack of defensive boons / passive defensive boons we have as a profession.

Bunker builds: And found that they are poop
Hammer builds: And found out their weaknesses and limited use
Condi builds: LOL!
Ranged builds: LOL again
Balanced builds
Control based builds
etc

NOBODY has EVER tried ANY other build besides something revolving around GS+Something. You’re right, thank you for illuminating this travesty.

It’s not that they don’t put any effort into those builds. It’s that you rarely see any of those builds in a video played by the professionals..especially warrior condition builds. We don’t see many of those at all so much for variety of being viable in pvp without being carried. ya dig?

Is it possible to use the longbow exclusively and only switch to sword when in melee combat. I would like to sit back and shoot with my bow and not just use the bow for a small bit then mainly switch to swords.

You can do whatever you want depending on your spec. If you’re a burst damage build or condition build you can sit back and shoot with your longbow.

I want to make an archer. I may make a ranger however I’m not really into the whole pet deal. I can work with it but I want to know if the longbow warrior is any good in dungeons, WvW, and spvp.

I will probably run with a sword/warhorn in the other weapon slot. Any information will be much appreciated.

They’re pretty fun and decent overall because of the AoE burst attack they have which I call ring of fire but it’s actually combustive shot It can be used as burst damage or condition damage. I use it for condition because I play a condition warrior build “sword / sword + longbow combo”

Some of the charr NPCs have voices that don’t match the character gender.

Reminds me of a order of whispers event where they got the wrong gender for a npc
