I used to run full berzerker’s with a 10|0|30|30|0 build that had +10% on burning foes (GS and hammer sigils were force, if I recall). I could hit 3-6k WW’s in WvW and I remember several times clearing 10k in PvE (probably lots of might stacks and all that. I don’t remember the specifics, just the thrill of seeing 5 digits on an attack). MB was usually in the upper 3k’s and occasionally low 4k’s (probably again up-leveled opponents).
Have you turned melee assist off in your options menu? If you aren’t inside your target, WW does much less damage.

I’ve never been able to get 1h sword to work for me, but I absolutely adore using GS + hammer with this build. It’s true that you loose out on some DPS and survivability with this change, but it is soooo much fun. I’m surprised by the number of Guardians that only run GS or only run hammer, and not both. When you jump on somebody with the GS, then switch to the hammer to ring ‘em and ping ’em, it’s almost like cheating because nobody expects to see both 2h weapons on the same character

I can’t believe that people are complaining about salvages…
It just goes to show you that this monthly must be doing something right if that’s all people are complaining about
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
I personally don’t care if it’s purchasable in the gem store, I will certainly be buying expansions with a credit card. Do you know how many hours you would have to grind to make enough gold for a gold>gem expansion purchase? My time is worth more than that!
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
I should be able to have this done before the end of the weekend! Well, except for maybe the salvaging one. I doubt I’ll find 500 drops to salvage… (insert tired loot quality statement here)

Not this again! Every. Single. Month. ><
Your dailies reset at a consistent time every day, right? Why would the monthly not reset at the exact same time that the last daily of the month resets?
And you really have no place to complain and/or be confused if you’ve been here since Halloween and the Lost Shores event. Those were several months ago >_>
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
I got my healing part of the daily done through events. That being said, if I came across a group of suicide jumpers I would join in without a second thought, even if I already had my daily finished. That sounds like a lot of fun!
(and to be honest, I’d probably strip naked before jumping just for the extra lulz)
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
You’re on the wrong daily. It should be 50 Kills, 10 Heals, 1 Visit to the Laurel Vendor, 20 Gathers, and 5 Events. Check you system time, blah blah, and all that.

I much prefer the female animation for carrying the sword around. I think the male animation is all like “Durr, look at mah shiny sword. I’mma wave mah sword around so everyone can see it. Dodge roll? Nah, bra, then people can’t see mah sword!”
Females are like “I need to carry my sword low and behind so I can lean into the sprint and achieve greater velocity. In this manner, I can more quickly arrive at my target and remove its head part from its shoulder parts”.
What I don’t like, however, is the animation for the third auto-attack swing for females. At least for guardians, it’s an awkward uppercut type move. I would much rather see an overhead chop type move. That being said, the male animation is even more awkward. Thrusting with a greatsword? No thank you.

It doesn’t matter when the daily resets, you still only have 24 hours to do it. Whether it resets at noon, at 7:00pm, or at midnight, it doesn’t matter. You still have 24 hours to get it finished.

Well, I know of many, many people in the LA map chat (and a couple in my guild) that completed their monthly today and got nothing. Perhaps you should ask people outside of your guild if they have gotten laurels for completing the monthly in the last 48 hours. Either that or throw up some screenshots.

Flame Legion Igniters. Just stand in front of them and wait for them to turn the flame thrower on, then dodge roll backwards. Three presses of the dodge button got all 15 dodges in exactly 24 seconds.

It appears that it collapses every time there is an update to a quest or DE. If you walk into range of a DE, it collapses. If you walk out of range of a DE, it collapses. Same with entering and exiting the range of influence of heart quests.

Test servers are too expensive for an subscription free game. Also, you describe problems where you don’t like what you get. Imo, test servers should be for bugs like the disconnect issue, the none progressing achievements and especially scaling issues.
These seem to be very hard to detect for developers themselves. Imagine you write an essay. You can read it 10 times and still you friend will see errors that you just read over it.
I agree with this 100%. Except that test servers are too expensive for a subscription free game. They are not. There really is no excuse for not having a public test server. I know Anet is worried about people spoiling the “living stories”, but I’ll put up with spoilers to get a patch that has everything working when it’s released.

Wait, what? I thought the daily for today was Dodging, Healing, Kill variety, Gathering, and Events. Wasn’t crafting one of yesterday’s achievements?

Like Chris, I play WvW as a Guardian in full Cleric’s gear (in fact, his build is what got me started). And no, I am not a healer. I’m the guy that rolls into the zerg or choke point and starts raising a ruckus from the inside. 1,300 kills in three weekends. Sure, more damage stats would let me do more damage, obviously, but the healing gear is what keeps my and the other front-liners from inspecting the ground all night.
If Anet is trying to keep the ascended gear in-line with what can be obtained from dungeons (to leave room for crafted ascended gear) then we should at least have a Magi’s set to choose from. While I wouldn’t prefer Healing/Vitality/Power over Healing/Toughness/Power, it’s still better than nothing.

The sPvP daily rewards have been different from the PvE rewards since they were introduced. Why would they offer the same rewards now? Why didn’t you complain that the sPvP daily didn’t give karma like the PvE dailies? Methinks the OP is just another person who wants to have something to complain about…
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
What, is this your first day playing the game or something? The dailies are doing what the dailies have done for the last 5 months: resetting at 12:00 GMT. Let me guess, you’ll all be back to complain when the monthly resets “too early” too…

You’re suggesting changing your build in order to get a daily achievement? Sorry, this one’s broken. And, it was an easy one to foresee being broken. It just leaves you scratching your head.
Change your build? Hardly. Just swap a couple of skills. If you aren’t already swapping skills on a regular basis to match the needs of the situation, you’re doing it wrong (or at least inefficiently).
But yes, this one needs looked at.
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
For Guardians having trouble with this, use Hallowed Ground and Purging Flames to make fire fields for your allies. If you are in a party, you don’t have to do anything else, just drop the fields and watch the magic. If you are not in a party, you must also get “tagging” credit along with dropping the field for it to count.
Whirling Wrath in a fire field should technically count, but I didn’t have much luck with it. I think one of the projectiles has to make the kill and not one of the hits that comes from just spinning. Even if you clip inside the enemy you aren’t guaranteed that a projectile will make the kill.
Our light fields are useless for this as the only benefits that come from light fields are condition removal and retaliation. I did not have the patience to see if a mob killed by the retaliation applied from a light field would count >_>
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
There seems to be a bug with guardians combing with other guardians. I was laying down Hallowed Ground and Purging Flames (fire fields) and another guarding was using Mighty Smash (blast finisher) in the fields to 1-shot level 2 skale in Greensdale. We could see the Area Might heart pop up, but no progress was being made to the count. No progress was made with Whirling Wrath or Leap of Faith either (whirl and leap finishers, respectively).
The other guardian switched to ranger and we were able to make things work, but not consistently. I’m aware of the difference between small (20%) and large (100%) projectile finishers, but neither were counting as they should.
An important note about this daily: You get credit both ways if you are in a party (credit if you are the one that laid the field and credit if you performed the finisher), but you only get credit for making the kill if you are not in a party. At least that’s how it seemed to us. It could be that you have to lay the field and get tagging credit on the mob if you’re not in a party.
And no, self combos don’t work, at least not for Guardians.
One benefit of this daily is that now all the noob a scruff players are learning what combo fields are and how they work

We landed all but like 3 lava pours (which tbh didn’t make much diff because if you move fast enough you can get him to the next one in time) and it took 20-30 min. We did the updated Dredge Mining suit & he was fine. the Elemental wasn’t even remotely close to the same so something is wrong. tbh the the Elemental is the worst of all 3 of the ones I listed. the others were boring, the Elemental was infuriatingly boring.
Never had that problem. The only difference I see between the suit and the elemental is that the elemental has adds.

This file is your UI settings file, but for whatever reason, it grows daily. After a period of time it gets too big and corrupts apparently. If it’s larger than 15mb, that’s your culprit.
So mine being 61MB and coming in at just under 4 million lines of code is probably a problem? :P

Far as I can tell servers change areas we defend in every map at the weekly reset so in essence you should be able to complete wvw maps within a month, give or take, if you do just your area when the reset happens.
No, they do not. The color and borderlands that your server occupies are based on the server’s WvW ranking. I’m on Sorrow’s Furnace, and we have been green for weeks. We are 200 rating points behind the next server up (which we have to overtake to become red) and 100 points above the next server down (which we would have to fail to in order to become blue). Considering last week we only gained 12 points, and the server below us lost 30, Sorrow’s Furnace will not become a color other than green for quite some time.
This is one of the primary reasons people want only the home borderlands to count, or to at least make the server colors random every week.

Well, in GW1 the drunkard achievement originally had you spend 10,000 minutes (or 7 days) in the drunken state. The cost for the alcohol was 2000 platinum. (It was recently changed to a point system like GW2). I’d say the difficulty of ‘Thirst Slayer’ was probably intentional on their part, keeping with the theme of ridiculous achievements from GW1.
If there has been any oversight for these achievements, I would say that it’s ‘All You Can Eat’ only requiring 800 instead of a larger number. It was probably kept low so that people couldn’t make money selling food to achievement hunters on the TP…
I do think that these should award titles. One of my biggest gripes about this game is the lack of titles.

One of the best examples of scaling being effected by nearby players that aren’t doing anything is the Harpy raid at the camp adjacent to the Ascalonian Catacombs entrance. As a fully geared 80 guard I love the event, as I can spin my way to 10-15 vials of blood in less than 3 minutes. On the other hand, I’ve been caught at-level there before, and the event is neigh impossible if an 80 from AC doesn’t join the fight.

The only thing that irritates me about world completion is that you have to 100% each borderlands in WvW. I actively participate in WvW, and it’s something that I enjoy, but I think it’s ridiculous that you have to complete the “same” content 3 times to get world completion. Sure, the skill points are slightly different, and the names are different, but it’s the same map.
I feel the same about having to complete the JP in each borderlands too, but that’s a different topic.
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
The only other MMO I have played besides GW2 is GW1. I have never participated in a raid, so I have no idea what they’re really like. That being said, the anti-raid people are not making strong arguments as to why they should not be included in GW2.
GW1 had several “raid-like” instances, and I enjoyed them. Urgoz’s Warren and The Deep were both 12-man instances and there were at least two story missions (Vizunah Square and Unwaking Waters off the top of my head) where two parties played in tandem. By my count, that’s 16 players in an instance.
I would love to see dungeon-type content in GW2 where more than 5 people participate. Even if it’s like the two-party story missions in GW1 where two teams of 5 start in different locations, performing different tasks, and then meet up for a final encounter.
The only thing I don’t want to see is content that takes an excessive amount of time to complete. I’ve read that the average raid times in WoW are 2-4 hours. To me, that’s too long. Arah story-mode and Arah path 4 are too long in my opinion, and they’re 1.5-2 hours (or longer on path 4, depending on Dwayna).

I have great success using “Stand Your Ground!” during the Kholer fight to keep the pulls from happening. I also use stability (either “Stand Your Ground!” or Indomitable Courage) to keep Binding Blade or Scorpion Wire from pulling me in WvW or sPvP, so it works in those situations.
I’m not sure if stability has any effect on skills like a mesmer’s Into the Void, as it is seldom used against me, and when it is, I don’t usually think fast enough to pop stability…

It’ll probably work exactly like glory/rank in sPvP (and’ll probably include “prestige boosters” in the gem store). Some prestige for killing enemies away from points, some for kills at points, some for kills with siege weapons, some for teammate revivals, some for capping points, etc.
As for thieves, I used to hate them and call them unfair. Then I rolled one for the express purpose of learning how they play. Once you know how a thief operates, what skills they’re likely to use, how many times they can spam heartseeker before running out of initiative, etc, they cease to be a problem.

I agree with the sentiment that sigils should be used to increase damage, especially if you are playing primarily in PvE. The sigil of hydromancy can be fun in sPvP and WvW if you do much of that.
As for the Sigil of Accuracy not being useful, I always have one on my focus for my scepter/focus set. Since smite hits 15 times, that 5% can be noticeable.
For your mace/shield combo I think a Sigil of Energy would be a little wasteful as we already have VP up nearly 100% of the time. Sigil of Energy gives an extra dodge every 20 seconds (if you swap on cooldown) while VP is already giving a dodge every 5 seconds.
A Sigil of Strength can be useful to increase damage by adding even more might stacks in conjunction with EM (though it only effects you) while a Sigil of Force is a straight-line 5% damage increase with no gimmicks.
Something you haven’t said, and that really needs to be known, is what sigil you’re running on your mace.

While I’m currently running a full zerk DPS guardian, there was a time when I ran a build very similar to what you are wanting. I went with P/V/T armor (bought with AC tokens, so that’s something you can already be working toward) and berzerker trinkets. I had swapped the jewels in the trinkets for beryl jewels (P/V/Crit) and used Runes of Lyssa to push up my precision to get more VP procs. Now that that’s been nerfed, you could probably leave the default jewels and use Runes of the Soldier to add some extra survivability and add utility to your shouts.
For the offset, I’m a big fan of using scepter/focus. The scepter is one of our most damaging weapons, especially against single, stationary targets. And let’s be honest, most bosses in PvE either don’t move much or have a phase in their rotation where they are standing still while winding up for a big attack.
While the shield is a great group weapon, I feel the cool downs are way too long to be really useful. The focus’ blind, while useless against bosses, can be helpful against trash mobs, and the #5 can be used in all sorts of creative ways.
There are only two times that I use a staff, and those are hitting through doors in WvW and kiting the wraiths at the end of Arah path 3. If they fix the bug with Symbol of Swiftness cutting the duration of other running skills, I may use it more often.
For utilities I used all shouts. I went with “Hold the Line!”, “Stand Your Ground!”, and “Save Yourselves!”, swapping “Hold the Line!” with “Retreat!” when running around (mostly for WvW. I swapped “Hold the Line!” instead of “Save Yourselves!” so that I still had two stun breaks if I got ganked). Tyber’s suggestion of using Purging Flames is solid, and would replace “Save Yourselves” in my build.
