Is it happening in situations with more than five people nearby? Wave of Light is limited to hitting five people just like every other AoE in the game.

In addition to the particle effects, Vision of the Mists is also missing its signature double hilt. I am taking a break from the game until this is fixed. Time to play something to doesn’t take hours and hours of my work and throw it under the bus for no reason.

What. The. Hell.
I am sitting on 1 Eldritch Scroll, 100 Mystic Coins, 250 Orichalcum Greatsword Blades, and 235 ecto. I have been working on this sword since Christmas because I know I’ll never be able to craft a legendary. Way to completely demolish everything I’ve been working toward. At first I was thrilled that they fixed “Pure Of Voice”, now I don’t even wanna log in this evening…

In my opinion, you should either go all Cleric’s, or none at all. The only ability that really scales well with healing power is Selfless Daring. In full Cleric’s it heals for 1.5-2k. In no healing gear it heals for 500. In my opinion, boon duration has a much greater effect on healing than healing power.
I personally use a setup near identical to what Jacobin posted. The only exception is that I use berzerker earrings instead of knight’s. The runes I run are 2x Monk, 2x Water, and 2x major Sanctuary. This is solely for boon duration and entirely so that I can have perma-swiftness by cycling “Retreat!” and “Save Yourselves!” without having to use a staff.
Soldier runes and Lyssa Runes are the only other runes I’ve had experience with. I don’t use an AH build, and have Pure of Voice traited, so Soldier runes are redundant for me, but might not be for you. Removing conditions with shouts is awesome. Lyssa runes were a great DPS boost, and the condition cleansing and boons from using Renewed Focus were nice. I changed away from them because I felt the rune set was too selfish, and because of the aforementioned desire to have perma-swiftness.

utility – shield of the avenger(20s) and wall of reflection(10s)
these 2 will buy u 30secs of projectile protection from the effigy where most of the damage comes from(only use it when the effigy reaches you and starts shooting those fireballs) . if you can’t handle the damage from the slavedriver himself , use a hammer (3rd swing gives protection) and pack shelter as your heal , the blocks helps against those hard-hitting multiattacks. tankable even in zerker gear + hammer + lifesteal food.
and pack enough armor, around >3k. and get first hit on the boss to ensure he doesnt go around chasing other people.
if the boss is still not dead/dying after 30s , well … it’s not your fault.
This is almost exactly what I was going to post. The only thing I would add is that I typically use “Hold The Line!” for the 3rd skill to cover protection gaps and give a little healing. This particular boss is perfect for using a hammer, regardless of build, because of everyone grouping on him.
If there is no mesmer / ranger in the group, use Banish to push him against the wall (he runs slightly downhill and towards the wall after turning hostile, so position yourself accordingly). Warriors like this so they can use Whirlwind Attack and get most of the hits to land. Whatever you do, do not use Zelot’s Embrace before the boss is against the wall. He gains defiant stacks after the first CC and he is much harder to fight in the center of the room. I usually love seeing axe/mace warriors in CoF runs, but I hate the ones that open this fight with Tremor and ruin any chances of cornering the boss.

I deleted my fully geared and crafted 80 guardian. I made her a Charr, and I just couldn’t handle the slow, awkward 4-legged run. Replaced her with a Sylvari. Best move I’ve ever made.

I guess there’s an age difference (or something) between the people you play with and the people I play with. I’ve not heard of an Asura called a house elf, but I have heard of them being referred to as “Yoda people” many times.

Pulling was a tactic that was a necessity in GW1 to make it through content. I have no doubt the devs intended for pulling to be used in GW2 as well.

I was in an AC group today that had 2 people want to switch characters at the boss. I was perfectly fine with that. One even waited too long to switch, and requested that we kite the boss until he got loaded in. Again, I was perfectly fine with that. But this is AC we’re talking about.
The final bosses in CoF (path 1 and 2) pretty much require 5 players. In path 1, if you’re not a strong DPS group, losing a player can significantly lengthen the battle. Same with path 2, but due to the mechanics rather than DPS limitations.

I think people run 4 warriors because it’s “easy”. I join my fair share of speed farming groups, and the average time is about 8 minutes a run. It could be faster, but someone always has to sell, AFK for a bit, etc, that drags the time down.
That being said, I also do “misfit” speed farming where any class is accepted. Average time for those groups is 11 minutes. It really doesn’t make that much of a difference in my opinion, but then I don’t farm CoF enough that it would.

I love shelter. I used to use the signet all the time until I started into PvP and WvW. It was there I learned how powerful those two seconds of blocks really are. I’m the kind of person that always waits until the last second to heal, and I can’t count the number of times I’ve been downed during the 1 second cast time of the signet. With shelter, the blocks start immediately.
In dungeons specifically, I can’t imagine ever going back to the signet. Just in AC there countless opportunities to use shelter to great benefit. Get pulled by Kholer and your stun-break is on cool down? Shelter. Fighting Colossus Rumblus with low endurance and he burrows beneath you? Shelter. Collecting scepter pieces and you’re about to run into the scavenger group? Shelter. Sure, there are other utilities that can work in these situations, like “Stand Your Ground”, “Save Yourselves!”, and Virtue of Courage, but having an “extra” utility in the form of a heal is awesome.

I’ve noticed the same thing, and it’s not just limited to fractals. I’m not sure what the trigger is, but any time you change form there is a chance that the profile picture sticks. I got a warm potion from an Orrian Jewelry Box, and I pop it when waiting around for groups or during wait times in dungeons. I’ve had many people question why my profile pic looks like a Fire Elemental.

I’ve noticed this too. You get a warning as you leave the renown heart area, and the buff on the buff bar flashes, but it doesn’t remove the leopard form when it expires. I had a lot of fun participating in The Maw event chain as a leopard :P If you are downed, you are returned to you normal form (Protip: the leopard can’t dodge roll).
As a side note, I wish this was actually a feature. Some of my more memorable moments from LotRO involve chicken run…

I’m fine with the zones being square, I just wish the world map didn’t look like a grid when viewed from orbit. In GW1, the map edges flowed into one another in a much more organic manner. There was a lot of empty space on the map too. In GW2 everything has been jigsawed together, and there are very few seamless transitions.

Um… no. I can’t tell if you’re trolling or not. The Print Screen button saves the output of the screen to the clipboard in most cases, but in GW2 it saves the output to a file.

I tried running Arah SM twice this evening. Both times it bugged out on the first airship ride. After killing the giants, the airship stops moving. You cannot board the chopper because it’s too far away from the ship. The first time though, we had skipped cutscenes. The second time we watched them. Both times, the same bug.

20% gf + 20% gf =/= 40% gf.
think of it in a multiplicative sense. stacking 2 superior sigils of force does not yield +10% dmg
This would mean that GF would work different than any other percentage boost in the game. Crit% boosts are additive just as MF% boosts are additive.
Two Sigils of Force don’t give a 10% damage bonus because you can’t stack sigils of the same type.

I loved all of the Asura story lines. Infinity Ball was my favorite, with the VAL-A Golem being a close second. In general, what I like most isn’t the actual story itself, but comments and interactions characters have on the side. The children playing at the start of A Fragile Peace (level 30) are a good example. “I’m Logan, and I’m going to run away!” gets me every single time

I’ve had many people do this in groups I’ve been in. It doesn’t bother me in the slightest. I think the only time it would bug me would be in situations like the final boss on CoF path 2. You kinda need all five members for that one. But otherwise, I don’t care. I’d probably do this myself if my load times weren’t excessively long. To be honest, though, I find it easier to level alts in WvW than in dungeons.
And like someone else said, I don’t think this would be near the “problem” it is if people didn’t kick you for being under 80, even if you’re a low level that is wearing the Dungeon Master title >_>

It looks like the whole of Cursed Shore is goofing up this evening. I can’t run around more than 30 seconds without disconnecting. Several guildies and others in map chat (both Malchor’s and Straits, as well as Lion’s Arch) are reporting the same issue. Some are not able to zone out because they are logging in next to mobs and DCing before they can get out of combat and way point.

My female Sylvari never says “Hold the Line!” either. She’ll sometimes make the remarks that come from gaining the boons, like “armor up!” or “protection!”, but never “hold the line!”.
I also wish that others could hear the shouts as well. A good example would be during the Kholer fight in AC. If the group hears “Stand Your Ground!” right before the pull, they don’t have to worry about dodge rolling (unless in melee range), as the stability prevents the pull.
“Retreat!” would be a little awkward, but that’s why I agree with the suggestion someone else made on this forum that “Retreat!” be changed to “Incoming!”. Both were skills in GW1 that served similar purposes, and it makes much more sense to be screaming “incoming” rather than “retreat” all the time.

I posted this screenshot in the General Discussion forum about memorable moments, and it got me wondering: Does this text read the same way for Asura characters? My first time through Metrica Province was priceless. The Asura progeny have got to be my favorite characters in the game. First they shunk themselves to the size of mosquitoes, then they had a “Your Momma’s IQ is so Low” contest, then I found a pair of them discussing what the different colors of Hylek meant.
Another memorable moment was at the start of the story quest that has you meet Destiny’s Edge in Lion’s Arch for the first time (A Fragile Peace). The cub saying “I’m Logan, and I’m going to run away!” had me laughing out loud

The fight wasn’t hard before the patch, the fight was just loooong. I do agree that they maybe went a touch low on his HP, but if a group can get the bubble down once, they can get it down any number of times. Much like Subject Alpha. He wasn’t hard before the patch, you just did the exact same thing to him over and over again. Now you do the exact same thing fewer times.
An improvement in both cases, if you ask me.

I think this was maybe a recent change. I have never tried this with Guardian shouts but last night I tried to set my warrior to auto-cast “For Great Justice” and it doesn’t work anymore.

I’m a guy that always makes female characters. I don’t do it so much for the “view” (as someone else posted), but more for the animations. Using skills like Banish (Guardian hammer skill that launches the enemy) with a female character makes me chuckle every single time. It’s also for this reason that the majority of my characters are Asura (though I have at least one of every race). Animations > appearance and/or role playing
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
Personally, I find the Mists terrible for testing stat combinations. There is very little control over the actual stats, and often the PvP stats don’t line up with their PvE equivalents. The PvP Berzerker amulet adds vitality, for example, and doesn’t give near the crit damage that PvE Berzerker armor and trinkets would give. The Valkyrie PvP amulet gives toughness where the PvE Valkyrie armor and trinkets give vitality. So on and so forth. The PvP equipment seems to be more “balanced” than running straight-line equipment in PvE.
I notice a drastic difference in damage and survivability between armor sets in PvE. My damage while using full Cleric’s gear is half (or less) of the damage I do while wearing full Berzerker’s. It’s kitten near impossible to go down wearing full Cleric’s, but you can easily go down in full Berzerker’s if you miss dodges or get unexpectedly surrounded.

Now I’m curious what specific traits you take because those grandmaster traits are really bad. You could try putting 10 points from Zeal into Honour line and take Pure of Voice if you don’t use Hold the Line which doesn’t work with it (surprisingly works with soldier’s runes though) and then take ruby orbs.
That’s actually not a bad suggestion. I don’t use either of the Zeal grandmaster traits, as they are indeed bad. I’ve been using II (Fiery Wrath), VII (Greatsword Power), and IX (Scepter Power). In PvE I typically run with “Retreat!”, “Stand Your Ground!”, and “Save Yourselves!”, which means 2 of the 3 shouts are affected by Pure of Voice. The extra vitality from the Honor line almost offsets the vitality lost from the Soldier’s runes to boot!
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
I have two sets of armor and builds for my guard. For PvE I run full berzerk gear / soldier runes with 30/20/0/20/0 (I can’t manage without shouts removing conditions, or I’d go ruby orbs). For WvW (and some dungeons) I run full cleric gear / boon duration runes with 0/0/10/30/30 (Chris’ “Healway” build). Two drastically different play styles that are both super effective at what they do and fun to play
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
good to hear, that’s my plan to use GS and Hammer. But why would you say this build lose survivability? Isn’t the whole point have more healing power supposed to make u last forever as compared to AH build?
I just meant that you lose survivability by taking the hammer instead of the sword/focus that Chris uses. You lose out on the blind and 3-block shield from the focus and you lose the blind and (situational) projectile shield on the sword. You gain two (situational) CC abilities with the hammer, though, as well as a spamable blast finisher. In essence, you’re trading some defensive skills for some CC / damage skills.
The survivability of this build is still much higher than that of the typical AH/MF build (at least in my hands), and as long as the hammer is Cleric’s, you aren’t losing any stats
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
We told them we were new once they got invited to the group, should we just we are new in the lfg message? Maybe we get more players like the fourth guy that way?
You could certainly add that you’re new in the LFG message. Sometimes I’ll run a dungeon I wouldn’t normally run if I see people are in need of help. But letting people know as soon as they join is perfectly fine as well. What would be bad is saying “by the way, we’re new at this” after the first wipe
Sounds like you just found three bad players as your first pugs.
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
I just really hate that a boss this challenging is located 2 hours into a dungeon. I would have no problem with Simin if he was the first boss on the path. Then I wouldn’t have to waste two hours if my group is unable to finish him. I say keep the challenge in place, but find some way to move the battle earlier in the run.
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
Just make sure to /bug any dungeon skipping or exploits you come across. The devs will fix it if they think it’s and issue and they won’t if they don’t.
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
I love helping new people learn dungeons, regardless of how long I’ve been playing. Someone had to help me through a dungeon the first time I ran it, and I like returning the favor (over and over again). What I absolutely hate is when people have never run the dungeon before but don’t say anything! That’s when I get frustrated because I assume that they know what they’re doing, but they’re either incompetent or unwilling.
I’m not saying you did this, just getting it out there for others to read. In my experience, just letting people know when forming a group that you’re new to the dungeon should be enough to find a good team. Yeah, a lot of people will leave / kick you, but when a team is finally together, it’ll probably work out smoothly.

Globs of ecto are roughly 35-40s. Rares can be sold for roughly 35-40s. I don’t even bother playing the salvage game (unless I have some Black Lion Salvage Kits laying around), I just sell the rares and buy the ecto
That being said, I get 3-4 rares a day (more if I cash in tokens), so anywhere from 3-4 ecto a day to 9-12 if I’m lucky with BLSKs.
