I’ve noticed certain mobs run away when their health gets low. Most “yellow” wildlife (like Moas), Ascalonian peasants, the “yellow” dredge excavators, skale, and critters that don’t seem to be made for combat in general. I thought it was a nice touch that non-combat mobs would flee when their health got low.
Something to notice, even though they run away, they’ll return in a few moments if you let them be. It’s like certain mobs have an invisible fear effect that triggers at a certain HP level.

I have had this happen a TON. Probably about 8-10 times if I had to guess. Yeah, it’s REALLY annoying when it happens. Although fairly limited, I’ve seen a couple ways to get out of it without re-logging that I’ve found.
1. “Usually” teleport or leap skills will get you out of it successfully.
2. Mobs that fear will break you out of it.
This is the same for me. Never been feared out of a lockup, but leap skills work great.

Well I’ll be a kitten’s uncle. I had no idea the JP chests reset. I assume it happens at midnight GMT just like the dailies?
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
So in other words, you should avoid jumping puzzles until 80?

I’ve had crashes every 2-4 hours since I started playing a month ago. Usually of the “Out of memory” variety. It usually happens when I am waypointing or gating to another location.
That being said, I’ve not noticed an increase in crashes in the last few days, nor have I ever been asked to verify my files after a crash happens.

Mike O’Brien’s comment isn’t showing up on http://www.reddit.com/user/ArenaNetTeam/ Does he have a separate account or something?
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
I’ve seen quite a few Asura warriors filling out the ranks of the Lionguard. They might not be “Warriors” in the same sense as the player profession, but they wear heavy armor and fight with a sword and shield.

I haven’t used Reddit before. Followed this link

No account or anything. I tap F5 every five minutes and get updated. What is everyone’s problem with how this is being done? I honestly don’t think having the AMA on the forums would be any easier to follow.

My Charr once got called a “puppy” by an Asura :P

The symbol from the hammer actually gives 3 seconds of protection. It’s generated in 3 one-second stacks. (I believe it goes to four seconds with the longer lasting symbols trait)
Other than that, excellent guide

The skins for the pauldrons are unique, so if you were really wanting to transmute them, you’ll need to get another set. Personally, I saved my pauldrons until level 40 or so, then scraped them. I decided that I’m going to transmute the Vigil armor onto my final set, so I had no use for them anymore.
That being said, I’ve heard mention of ways to get starter armor to other characters. Its usually done to get armor from other professions, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t in this case. Unfortunately, I don’t know the method (and it may have been fixed), so you’ll have to do a little searching.

I’d like to see the same thing. I wish there were spaces for sub-components such as wooden dowels, insignias, etc. I wouldn’t mind if it was a gem store upgrade to the existing storage.

My biggest complaint about needing the WvW maps for 100% is that three of the four maps are identical (well, the skill point challenges are a little different). If all three borderlands counted as one map, you wouldn’t have to wait for your colors to switch, you could just work on the map from the three different sides.

Even if it is just minor bug fixes, I get amusement out of reading them. There was a fixed typo in NPC dialog in Iron Marches? Cool. There was a clipping plane that got realigned in Rata Sum? Awesome. I like to know these things. It lets me know that things are being done and that there is attention being paid to the small details.

I was with a group when the Lionguard was building bridges. A lot of people, myself included, decided it would be fun to make a jumping puzzle out of the half-completed bridge and get across ourselves. When the bridge completed itself, a couple of people got stuck in the bridge. This, while funny, was not the best part. A Guardian using Mighty Blow (#2 on the hammer) tryin to knock the stuck people out the other side was the funny part

I didn’t think shield #5 was supposed to heal. I thought it was push foes back and absorb projectiles…
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
I’ve noticed the floating shield (both in use and on my back) and have noticed that my pauldrons do the same thing. I’m a female Char with the smallest body type, so that may have something to do with it, but most of my armor isn’t actually touching my body…

Vigorous Precision doesn’t have a hidden cooldown. It’s a great trait for DPS Guards.
I’m a newbie Guardian. How would VIGOR help DPS??
It doesn’t. It would proc AH more often and let you dodge more often, but doesn’t directly increase DPS.
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
Doesn’t EM have an internal 1 sec cool down? (And I assume Vigorous Precision does too) How does 2 on the GS give more health than auto-attacks?
I run a similar build with a hammer and I seem to have good luck with it.
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
Yeah, the game was actually working for me for the first one (and thanks for posting it, by the way ), but what I’m most interested in is what happened at the end of the event.
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
WvW is mostly unplayable by people with mid- to low-range machinces and you thought putting the entire server into Lion’s Arch and then starting combat was a good idea? Kitten me gently with a chainsaw.
In the future, if one-time events must involve combat, by all means split the population up into smaller chunks. Either have a similar event happen in several different locations, or break the population up into smaller instances. Sort of like in GW1 how you could choose which district of a city to be in. That way friends could still enjoy the event together, but 500 people aren’t all trying to spam attack skills at the same time.
Or, like has been mentioned before, DON’T DO ONE-TIME EVENTS! I’m glad this was a day off and that I didn’t use a leave day, or I’d be really upset.
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
I missed the end of the event due to a crash too. I don’t give a kitten about the reward, I’m upset that I didn’t get to see the lighthouse blown up. If the world is going to be “permanently altered”, I’d kitten well like to see it.
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
The lag during this event was TERRIBLE. And to top it off, my game crashed with the event 90% complete. Apparently the lighthouse got blown up, BUT I DIDN’T GET TO SEE IT.
This event really, really sucked, Anet

The addition of the PvP daily led me to try PvP for the first time this morning. I had an absolute blast! I’m glad I tried it, and plan to play more in the future. I finished the daily in 3 matches, having no clue what I was supposed to do, except for bashing heads.
I doubt I’ll get the monthly (already tagged a Necro, but I don’t know about tournaments yet). But hey, who knows, there’s another 14 days left
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
Now THIS is the kind of post I like to see from the developers

Additionally: people seem to like to couple AH and EM with the hammer. the hammer is much slower and doesn’t have that many boons either (the symbol at the end of the chain and the following blast finisher), or does that make such a big difference?
The special thing about the hammer is how the symbol applies the boons. By default, I think it provides 3s of protection. It doesn’t do this as a single 3s boon, but rather as three 1s boons. The retaliation from MB only triggers once (I think), but that’s four boons every cycle. Plus you get the benefits from critical hits.

It’s only Friday afternoon in the US. In Europe it’s Friday evening. I’ve heard mention that there are many more European players currently than there are US players, so it would make sense for the event to kick off in their prime-time.
I just hope they implement a “Hall of Monuments” type event viewer soon so that I can watch the event later when I get online.

@fractal:
I thought the character delete screen says that you have 1 hour to re-roll a character after you delete it?
@AW Lore
He said he has a placeholder character with the name in GW2 now…
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
At first I was in agreement with th OP until I learned that there were siege blueprints at the end of the puzzles. Now I’m completely fine with people setting up seige equipment there to keep the chests guarded.
Also, best I can tell, each of the “borderland” zones are idenctical, so I doubt the same faction is camping all three of them at the same time.
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
If the dalies reset at 12:00am GMT, then it will be 7:00pm EST time now. I guess we just wait until 7:00pm and see what happens :P
(And technically, the dailies reset at 8:00pm EDT, as EST is what we are in now)
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
Tell me about it
I prefer reading over videos, especially becuase its easier to reference later, but it doesn’t appear the GW2 is compatible with the written language. At least MrPrometheus adds links to most of his vidoes that acts like a table of contents so you can find what you need easier.
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
Make sure to take a look at MrPrometheus’ guides for the mesmer. He likes to run a condition-based build and focuses primarily on the staff with a secondary sword/focus (and agrees that confusion sucks in PvE).
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
I decided to make up new names for my characters in GW2 (mostly since two names aren’t required anymore). I’m more interested to see if I meet one of my old names running around
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
I always play female characters, but I never play as a human. For me, games are an escape from reality, and I like to get as far away from reality as I can. Plus I find the image of an 80lbs twig of a Sylvari catapulting a Charr across the map with a hammer equal parts hilarious and adorable
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
Take the Upper Commons teleport, then head north. The gate to Lion’s Arch should be a purple circle, and the exit to Caledon Forest is to the northwest.
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
The /cheer emote is my favorite. I use it every time there is something even remotely worth cheering about. The little clap at the end is what does it
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
Guild Wars 1 had a lot of armor choices… after three expansions. In the initial release there were only four / five armor sets for each profession (8 / 10 if you count the 15k versions). I have no doubt that armor variety will increase as more content is released.
As for the way armor fits, I agree that some work needs to be done. The reason I switched to Sylvari is because of how poorly most armor fits on the Asura. Substance E hit the nail on the head by saying Charr look like they mugged a human and tried to wear their armor
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
Yep, Sylvari hairstyles are affected by the body glow, some moreso than others. Always toggle the lighting during character creation to make sure you’ve got a color you like
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
My first character was an Asura, so while I had found the lighting button during character creation, I didn’t really see a use for it. Thus, I ignored it when creating other characters. The only reason I’ve got an appropriate glow on my Sylvari is because I read about it on the forums before making her (thanks guys).
I would also pay money for the ability to change appearance in-game. I like my characters colors / features to harmonize with their armor, but since I have no idea what I’ll be wearing at 80, it’s hard to plan accordingly ahead of time
[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
The pictures all look normal to me too. In the “bugged” daylight picture, your character’s nose / brow is casting a shadow over his right eye, making it appear smaller, but it’s just an optical illusion.
There is a much more serious bug with some Sylvari eyes, as seen here:

[Profession Synonym] Lexxi [ANGL] – Tarnished Coast
I used to have trouble with underwater combat, but now that I’ve done it a few times with different classes (and upgraded my underwater weapons) I find it as easy or easier than combat on land. I agree that the ranged weapons make underwater combat much easier.
My biggest gripe, though, is that sometimes when I’m halfway through killing a critter “immune” will start popping up and they return to their spawn point while regenerating their health. It happens more frequently when using melee weapons, at least in my experience.
