You are dead wrong and being selfish. There is nothing better about anybody waiting in a queue for hours due to bugs. It makes it difficult for friends and guilds to play together, people to change characters, or for people that crash to get back in the game.

Go to a different map. SoS only has queues on 2 maps usually, during both of our primetimes. Sometimes a 3rd depending on who’s there (tsym under the current system could probably fill a map by themselves – never play with them so cant verify).

This current system is creating the closest match T1 has seen in a really long time. Maybe it is you who should get over themselves.

Also to make it perfectly clear, I put quotes on “queue bug” for a reason. It’s limiting the maps to about 50-60 players each server. This is helping the match immensely. Now go cry somewhere else that you can’t outnumber a server to win.

It would be ok if every side had the same amount of individuals on the map. That is rarely the case though. One night SoS has the advantage, the next it is SoR and the next is JQ. ANet needs to acknowledge there is a problem and fix it. Their silence leads me to two conclusions, 1) they don’t care or think there is no problem or 2) they have no clue what went wrong and why their “extensive” testing never picked this up.

It is probable that AreaNet plans to use WvW population activity alongside performance to determine tier rankings. This will effectively secure SoR, SoS and JQ in Tier 1 for the next match-up, due to how well matched up we are.

I’ll take that bet. I personally don’t think there is a chance any one of the three of us makes it to T1 next week. I would love for a repeat of this match though. We seem to be very evenly matched up.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if ANet changed absolutely nothing and left everything the way it is.

For those complaining about the queue. The queues have been buggy as kitten lately.

I spent 40 minutes in a JQBL queue, only to find less than 35 people on the map.
My friend spent 50 minutes on an EBG queue, whereas me and another friend both got into EBG in under 5 minutes, left, and came back in, before my first friends queue showed any sign of popping.

Basically if you’ve been sitting there for over half an hour, you may want to consider restarting guild wars and queuing up again.

(This is mostly for the JQ folk. But it’s quite possibly happening on other servers to, I just cant speak with actual evidence for them)

Definitely happening on SoR. Yesterday during a JQ siege of SOR Hills we had our whole BL on the map there minus the 10 afk in Gari and PK and we were only able to field 25 people. Assuming there were 10 others out and about on the map that is 45 people on the entire map. People were in queues for a good 30 mins at this point. Taking on the JQ zerg of 40+ with 25 was rather rough. Something is definitely buggy…

Yes, I know all about him trying to organize the guilds on JQ and form some kinda uber alliance that blew up in his face (no fault of his own). So then, he just said in Cartman fashion “Screw you guys. I’m going home.” and went to another server. I still have friends in his guild. Like I said, I do still miss running with him. But also like I said, he and a LOT of other “commanders” on all servers take this GAME wayyyyyy too seriously. Maybe he has calmed down since moving servers. Sure hope so!

Indo was against any alliance and advocated against any sort many times. Maybe you are mixing him up with Menaace who did just what you said…

Stacking is used on only rare occasions now in T1/T2. It’s pretty much a useless tactic that is easily countered.

It was in SBI boarder lands and you guys kept Zerging lowlands as I was trying to solo cap it (because almost no other TCers were on the map it seemed). And no I didn’t kill anyone the most I would do it Down them because I know its wrong lol. (just ask the SBI people that were there too lol)

EB would be about 4-5 times bigger. No more of this trebbing from tower to tower garbage. You want to set up a treb, you better learn to defend it open field or from some other defensible position like a hill side. BLs would be about 3 times bigger. This would help break up the zergs some as it would force response times to be much longer meaning you will need to have roaming scouts and other smaller groups taking other vital objectives.

Increase camp defenses. Make these more of a 5-10 man objective as opposed to being a 1-5 man objective now.

Adding another objective called a sentry post. Think of these as more what we have for camps now. They would be placed near major road junctions and have the ability to stop enemy yaks from passing through.

Yaks have to travel a longer distance. Force servers to guard them or face never having anything upgraded.

More supply camps.

Towers/Keeps would need more supply to upgrade.

Tower/Keep walls and doors would have more HP. Taking an objective should take some effort and feel like you accomplished something in the end and should not be done in 2 mins with a golem rush.

More scenery. (forests, deserts, city ruins, etc)

Make the guards actually mean something as opposed to “Oh look, an NPC guard. Just run past….”

I even let 30 or so of you (SBI) kill me as I stood there distractedly thinking, “This is great, I can see all these people destroying me…”

Look on the bright side, JQ, SoS, BG, SoR, TC, FA are all going to be seeing each other non-stop for the next 2 months.

Everyone is just looking for good fights so it’ll be fantastic fights without the need to get to T1 to get those fights. Instant gratification.

Sadly, I think this forum hatred from TC has resulted in the transfers from the TC to SoR server the past 2 days. You guys have lost about 30-50 WvWers to us because of it and 2 of your larger WvW guilds came inquiring.

From what I understand, they modified the culling to prioritize enemies first and then added in prerendered place holders for characters rather than waiting for our machines to load them fully before being displayed. I’m anxious to see if it is any better or worse now.

T1 servers want SoR in T1, SoR should be in T1 and some on SoR gamed the system.

Actually, I was on Sor and in TS and there were people in leadership positions (commanders) that were saying let TC have X and Y, we don’t want to go to T1 this week. Happened repeatedly. The idea that you didn’t want to be T1 this week and to take it easy and use the time to coordinate with the newer guilds was something I heard no less then 2 guild leaders say in TS.

I don’t blame them a whole lot for that, but let’s be honest about what really happened.

Last week SoR repeatedly exploited culling to defeat TC’s zerg. They would all run away until their models unloaded, then all rush back together dropping everyone before they even appeared on our screens. They would constantly drop portal bombs on us. Yes, their coordination should be applauded, but if these are the kind of pathetic ‘strategies’ needed to stay competitive then I sincerely hope that TC drops back down the league tables so that we can actually get a fair fight.

I guess strategic retreats, fake retreating, circling around, flanking, portaling, and such is in no way any form of tactics?

If you whine about someone abusing culling, you should realize no one is abusing it, and servers will still use their tactics once ANet fixes culling.

If your server has people chasing a group of enemies, and gets surrounded because you didn’t see the rest of the enemies it’s not them abusing culling. If you get flanked its not abusing culling, if people fake retreat and wait for the enemy to give chase, so they get spread out in a “train” to get killed, its not abusing culling. The list goes on an on.

Especially when all sides are effected by the culling, not 1, not 2, but all 3.

I think if some of the large guilds would just own up to the fact that their massive numbers in the zerg make them practically invisible, people would be happier.

It’s the same for everybody!!!! Crying out loud people, this isn’t unique to one server. It happens so often, I can’t believe people still complain about this. Nobody truly tries to cull, it just happens that flanking and tactical retreats (which would be used regardless if culling existed or not) are affected by culling. It is what it is. That would be really lame, I doubt that DEVs would fall so low that they would use inside-information.

It’s true that SoR was recruiting extra guilds before the end of free tranfers was announced and that they are now benefiting from it, but that can just as well be a coincident.

My uncles, brother-in-laws, sisters, nephews, cousins, best friend works for ANet and that is how we knew 6 years in advance that the server transfers were closing, so we were well prepared.

Let them have Tier 1. They may come to find it not to such a great prize after all. Look at the effect it had on SBI. We could flaunt our community then as well as SoR does now, but in the end it didnt have a lasting effect. I dont know the rivalry between TC and SoR but it seemed good natured up until this week. The score is more lopsided due to a server struck with a mass exodus, and a number of new guild’s flooding SoR for Tier 1 glory.

If TC wants to remain in Tier 2 for a matter of boasting, I would prepare more for upencomming servers such as Maguuma, Dragonbrand and that digusting entity that is Kaening. You guys are going to have your hands full with them focus on that, not holding SoR back.

For what its worth, aside from being outnumbered this was quite easy to stomach on the receiving end. It was almost refreshing to run around and just try to find fights, avoid zergs and not have to worry about PPT. I bet TC did the best when they did just that. Problem is, your starting to worry about it. The more you worry the more you will realize your only chance of Tier 1 is to bandwagon. Its not worth it.

Go back to respecting each other and being cordial. Save the vitriol for another match up. SoR will get plenty of it if they move up, and TC will get plenty of it when Maguuma and Kaening arrive. Neither of you should be lambasting each other, kitten I sound like a grandmother. Also, dont expect us to totally abandon the match next week, if we have 50 people playing again, well have 50 people holding atleast one tower. I refuse to let their be a blackout in primetime. What’s the difference between facing BG and SoR? There is little difference between the two servers. WvW in tier 2 is worthless until SBI is kicked out to make this a 3 server match again. Stop pointing the finger at us for you not making the best of an already crappy scenario. You think we are really having a grand time in this either? Even if we went balls out, I doubt we would have pushed to tier 1 anyways. We couldn’t sustain the glicko to the level we would have needed unless TC and SBI just took a week off this week. Neither of the servers did, so you are as much to blame for us sticking around as we are. We realized we weren’t going to win the glicko battle very early in the week and decided to focus on getting people transferred in rather than scrambling at the last minute to get it all done. We also decided to take a much needed break from WvW and get to know some of the new people that transferred in.

SoR had a community a long time ago and it is still in place. Obviously people were impressed enough with our community that they decided to utilize the last of the free transfers to join it.

Don’t hate so much

The question is not so much why guilds joined SoR, the question is why they either left or did not join TC. Everyone knows servers go up and down, but what makes the difference for many guilds is the community, not current ratings.

The argument of SoR going up to tier 1 only goes so far; just look at Maguuma and Kaineng. No disrespect to TC, they still have awesome guilds; PINK and company. The assumption that SoR never dealt with any adversity is just plain incorrect. Just look at past world ratings, we got stomped many times; we just never gave up and always kept fighting (nature of our community).

I do realize that not all the haters and complainers represent the very best of TC, but it sure does not help when guilds are server shopping.

It’s just a game people, have fun and let’s keep the fighting in the game and out of the forums

Please don’t run around in all zerker gear. You die way too fast, ultimately do less damage in the long run, cause rallies, and are a draw on your team mates. If you do go high damage, make sure you have a decent level of survivability mixed in.

Full Berserker, 30/30 in offensive trait lines, 10 in utility, 0 in vit/tough/boon/heal trait lines.

We find ourselves in a position. An unenviable position wherein we seemed to be locked in a battle against, yet again, a superior force who has the unenviable position of having a wealth of power and a dearth of wit. This is not new for us. It is clear that SoR intends to be great and who is anyone to stop them? We wish them well. But lets discuss us.

What, my dear Toasters, do we have to lose? We have everything to gain. Ours is not a community based upon winning. Sure it’s great, but haven’t you seen the signs? Where is the Golem God? Why is everyone mad? We have nothing to gain from winning and everything to lose from it. Let these Sanctum folks head to tier 1. Who cares? Imagine the friends we make on our way all the way down. Imagine the friends we make back up!

They pretend community. We have community. Let them have t1 or t2. We have a better game.

It is not about SOR. (run that again in your head one more time).

Its about the game as enjoyment, Wvw as it is played and three server communities that make up a Tier and in this case Tier 2. What you argue is good for SOR is not good for the tier…… for the rest of us in this thread. There is no solid argument any of you have made to convince me of that. Now it may be that the Tier’s health, problems and fun quotient is not really your problem or concern.

At least be honest about it.

Like I said, when this shakes out, TC most likely won’t be in T2 anymore anyways to worry about this. I suspect you will be back in T3 due specifically to 2 other servers on the way up.

I suspect karma will catch up with SOR and you are actually better off hiding in T2. TC got here and made it here without a mass wagon train. I doubt we are going anywhere….. and whenever we end up we will be giving all we have and never opting to avoid a fight because it might be difficult somewhere else.

SoR got to T2 and was on the receiving end of two servers with vastly superior coverage for months, and never gave up. We also made it here with out the ‘mass wagon’ train and in fact actually lost people over that time frame.

So yeah you are right, Karma will catch up with SoR. It already has. We finally got the coverage we were lacking.

I have a question that is easily going to be construed as offensive or something by some sensitive people so let me EMPHASIZE that I am purely asking because I honestly don’t know and have always been curious:

Was SoR a transfer destination at some point? I remember SoR was a T5 or T6 server for a few weeks following release (I distinctly remember an SoR/NSP/Yaks match that was ridiculously close right up to the finish), and then suddenly you guys shot up. I do know CDS was ex-SBI and TW were from JQ, but was there ever some sort of organized move to SoR? What about the other major WvW guilds?

Honestly interested in some of the history here.

To my knowledge, nothing was ever discussed/organized about having a bunch of guilds moving to SoR. Any guilds moving here a few months back was done by pure coincidence. Many of the original moves were done to escape the queues of T1 that were 4 hours for some.

If there is one constant in all of the faction based pvp games I have played, it is not once did fighting someone I could dominate ever make me a better player. SoR is getting nothing from these matches other then getting fat and lazy. Most of the good players/guilds will be bored and doing other things, so you just end up with large zerg balls running around pretending they are becoming a better community.

The problem with that statement is that there’s a difference between dominating the scoreboard and dominating the battlefield. SoR doesn’t really dominate the battlefield unless their numbers are vastly greater than their opponents. Don’t take that statement the wrong way, I’m not trying to start any arguments…I’m just offering an honest assessment of what’s happening on the battlefield.

I think, if they’re being honest, your commanders would admit this as well. SoR is losing a lot of battles that shouldn’t even be close. It’s been that way since this matchup started last week so you shouldn’t chalk it up to certain guilds not being active in RvR the last few days. In fact, it was much worse last week than it’s been this week. I guess that can be partially attributed to the overall growth of the SoR zergs that can withstand heavy losses and still manage to gain ground. However, SoS zergs are considerably larger than what SoR is fielding currently so you won’t be able to rely on numbers alone in Tier 1.

Personally I think the blob tactics are probably the wrong way to go while you’re in Tier 2. I’d go with smaller groups and force your players to learn how to fight properly while you still have the chance.

That’s all that needs to be said. I’m attempting to learn to play a hammer warrior and I frankly suck at it. I know many, many others are out there on alts as well.

Allowing free transfers for the last 5 months has to be one of the biggest MMO fails ever to date.

I just quite a nice guild because i need to transfer to a full server now that every single WvW guild left SBI.

I can’t even describe how angry I am that transferring was every allowed for free. If I could I would fire the person responsible for that decision yesterday.

No one is disagreeing with you. I just fail to see the point in complaining about a problem that has been debated endlessly on these forums and others and has been an issue for months. We recognize it, ANet recognizes it. It’s getting fixed, lets move on.

I don’t get it….didn’t we all know this was coming sooner rather than later?
