The kind of game that makes you question the things they tell us and their efforts in general.
Evan Lesh will tell you that it’s an UI bug. :^)
I’m in the same spot, there’s not reliable “workaround” as a solo player. It depends on how lucky you get with teammates, the more you play the higher chances of a lucky streak you’ll have. The only tips I can think of is taking short/long breaks if you want to avoid the same teammates or stop a losing streak.
If it’s really that big a deal they could just add a couple more tier-loss leagues in between.
Or you know, remove the tier checkpoints on emerald and sapphire.
I did. It’s a good change, but there are still too many other flaws in the system that will still be easily exploitable.
Expect an Amber slave market in S2.

But Leeto there are so many soon to be proleaguers playing! xXIComeFromPvEXx, #WintersdayF4rm3r, DungeonSpeedrunner123, MetabattleDoesntLoad etc. They are dominating the stronghold and are already legendary teams. I don’t even have enough fingers to count the number of new amazing teams that this league gave a start to. When I try to join ESL ladder it says full.
So you’re not going to reset the MMR of all players again? Alright, see you in season 3.
While SoloQ would be nice I’m satisfied with the changes they’re making.
Everything sounds good on paper.
Why kind of sissy, thin-skinned player blocks people anyway?
>He disagreed with me so I blocked him, that’ll show him!
>dealing with underage children on christmas holidays
Not everybody is born a masochist.
Where is the compensation? Why wasn’t this communicated and fixed faster? Should we even expect a fix by the end of S1? What about all those people that lost games/pips due to someone leaving/not joining their game? What about all the leavers that went unpunished? I suppose a WHOLE YEAR with missing dishonor wasn’t enough, so we don’t need it during “competitive” leagues too.
Number one need has already been said by OP I guess. Personally, I wont be playing pvp next season if there’s no separate solo queue, ragardless of how they improve the matchmaking.
It should have a separate ladder, carrying your mmr from one gamemode to another is plain nonsense.
a) player pool is way bigger than you obviously think,
And this is where you’re wrong.
If we had such a big pool as you said, we wouldnt have to deal with bad matches.
Bad matches excist because there arent enough ppl to pick from with same MMR/Division at same time, leading in unbalanced matches often.
Bad matches exist because the system is dogkitten.
Haha. Last thing I would do as a Dev is talk to the players around here. If twitch chat is anything to go by, I’d rather gouge my eyes out with a spoon then go through that willingly.
It’s not even about taking advice from the community anymore. They’re not communicating ANYTHING regarding future updates and changes across all game modes.
So is this another testing season? Dishonor not working for pretty much most of the season lol gj.
Diamond here. I don’t have queue problems because I never play against people in my division. :^)
No, that same guy could’ve been absent for the whole game and you’d still lose a pip. It’s a feature in this godlike league system.
It is as long as you’re playing with party/abusing pip system.
^
Tbh A-Net has the worst communication with their playerbase out of every developer/publisher I’ve ever seen. Even in some completely unknown MMOs with a 100 population, there’s at least someone that has the time to inform the players of future updates.
B-but our playerbase is too small…. b-but we don’t have enough moni… but this was just a testing season….
Sometimes I ask myself how people don’t find it embarassing to repeat the same excuses over and over.
You should probably write in the “Bugs” forum or write a support ticket.
Could be exploited to get out of a deserved pip lost by having a team member to “take one for the team”
As I wrote in the other thread – we are talking about people losing pips that are NOT in a party with the person disconnecting.
If they put in a system where you don’t lose any progress when someone is disconnected then people would start intentionally disconnecting to avoid losing progress. The main problem with games aren’t the systems, it’s the people that play them.
Your post makes no sense whatsoever. The system can easily be made so the disconnected player is the only person that loses points.
Okay, so you have one guy on an alt account who is your designated “diconnector.” He disconnects whenever it appears that your team is going to lose. The disonnector loses points which is an added benefit because grouping with him lowers your match making for future matches. The people who are going for progress never lose progress.
So, that system won’t work. Now, you have to tweak it and make a more complex system to deal with that exploit. Maybe you add code that determines whether progress is lost based upon how much time is played before a disconnect. But, the problem is that no matter what system you make people will find a way to exploit it. All you can do is try to make a system that is not easy to exploit. But, that takes time and resources (in other words, money).
I was talking about soloQ players, not about people that are in a party with the disconnected person.

I want to add that the skill is also incredibly buggy. If the player you’re using the skill on losses you in a weird way you basically get stuck in place with the camera away from your character. Happened to me many times and it’s very annoying. You can also teleport through gates and mesmer portals.
Our 5th guy didn’t even join the game at all and we still lost a pip. Guess the MMR thought that playing with less players was not enough of a handicap.
10/10 design ESPORTS
thief sucks
Life in emerald must be hard.
A crappy player in emerald won’t face abjured in the current system (and they wouldn’t be gaming the system to force that.) Gem color should be taken into consideration, but also MMR.
He would if they queued with an amber ot one of them played on an alt account that’s amber/emerald. You would be surprised how many people game the system.
Just remove MMR altogether and do everything by tiers.
Let results show skill
Then you get the abjured (or whoever is good and playing normal leagues) playing against new PvPers for like 40 games.
You still get them with the current MMR system.
The problem is that the new specializations are way too strong right now. As someone else posted before me, if they get toned down a bit, thief would be fine and even “meta” again.
Why would I wish for something that’s never going to happen?
You dont even lose pips in that league. Stop crying.
He is the ruby player on the losing team blindboi.
The queue-times in diamond – legend are horrible as they are atm. (Up to 10-15 minutes). With the introduction of soloQing the que-times would increase even further and eventually result in a diminishing playerbase.
They are horrible, because more players get often matched against premades which slows down the division progression. If we had pure soloQ, players would’ve already spread across all divisions as it should be.
Can confirm, has happened multiple times to me and some teammates. There are times where the stomp just doesn’t work regardless of how long you wait after the animation. And no, there weren’t any interrupts happening. (even seen a chrono fail a stomp with a full distortion)
“PvP Rank” doesn’t really mean much, even people I know that just do their dailies are already rank 80. What matters is the MMR, but it probably is so broken that they are never going to make it visible.
It’s embarassing that you’re forcing people to use ESL’s crap client in 2015 especially in this game. I wont install that garbage even if I was in the pro league.
Playing soloq right now is a straight up gamble which is more likely to NOT be in your favor since you have premade teams on top of the mmr random factor in the equation. You either grind for a whole day praying to get that streak to move you up a tier or you find something else to do and wait untill GW2 has a working pvp system. never

According to A-Net, you should be beating ESL teams as a solo player to progress. It’s common sense after all.
Insert the playerbase is too small excuse here
>How to attract people to pvp
Have a functional ranking/matchmaking system. The pvp in this game doesn’t have it.
I agree with most of your points, but you can’t say “leagues are perfect, mmr is not” when MMR is the most important part of the league system. It’s not a separate thing. When MMR doesn’t function properly the shiny division UI becomes nothing more than that.
Arena-Net doesn’t want players to have fun, so we’ll never get our true soloq back. Should be clear by now.
I assume that amber players who queue get paired against other ambers etc. You don’t have games with a full diamond team vs full amber correct? So the idea being that if you’re diamond and queue you will get games against similar ranked players.
You assume wrong, legendary players can play with ambers to get emerald opponents etc. It’s an incredible system.
Yes, or you queue together with someone with very low MMR and face worse opponents. It’s a revolutionary ranking system – LoL, Dota, SC2 and CS:GO should take notes.
I’ve feeling they disabled Stronghold just to force huge part of community to Conquest, you know entire Guild Challenger ladder was supposed to be Conquest thing, but it can’t work if guild teams play Stronghold instead of Conquest.
It’s obvious at this point.
Anet takes a while but they always seem to deliver.
