Rampage is a great elite for rangers, because both you and your pet grant might to each other when you attack and also it gives 20 secs of stability, which is great in many situations, but realistically, rangers have little to no stability unless traited for it, in which case they give up other more valuable trait points for investing into Signet of the Beastmaster. But is it worth it to use Signet of Stone with the active effect + “Protect me” for a 12 sec endure pain, or using Signet of the Wild to gain stability?
Rangers only have 4 stun breakers and usually only 1 stability skill, that being Rampage as One (though ranger elites are probably better than some other classes’ elites.)
With that being said, would you all agree that the trait Shared Anguish should be on a 60sec CD instead of 90? or what do you all think?
Use it in a water field, fire field, dark field, or etheral field.
Wow….. even your misses crit. CRITICAL MISS!!!
Critical Fail actually. When that happens you trip and stab yourself in the eye.
No seriously, look up Critical Fail tables for D&D and the like. A really bad one and you fail so badly with a dagger swing you KILL YOURSELF.
yeah lol. Critical miss results in you insta-killing yourself.
Critical Dodge!
Critical Rally!
Critical Heal!
Critical Stomp!
Critical Steal – results in siphoning your opponent’s crit % and crit damage and adds to your current crit ratio!
well now all you gotta do is dodge, dip, duck, dive and DODGE!
UGH!!!! that’s disgusting!!!!!!
Twink focus user one hour ago
good god. sudden zerg shows up outta nowhere!
its a scrambled access code that you have to decipher and figure out that gives you god mode and 1500% magic/gold find and 500%karma/laurel gain…
dude relax…its more time consuming to implement new content into gw2, especially with the 2week living story content releases… so, kill the motor there sport.
nah…well it was probably WAY back when gw2 first came out, cuz it barely remember the tutorial XD
My warrior(pve), who is a stability tank, who also needs a little improvement, currently runs sword/shield and longbow with healing signet, mango pie, and Dolyak Runes (I just like having all that regen, leave me alone!) and a weird setup of traits. something like 30/0/20/20/0 or 30/0/20/10/10.
Usually id use Berserkers Power, Slashing Power, and maybe Great Fortitude in strength; Last Stand, Dogged March in defense; Burning Arrows or Shrug it Off, and Stronger Bowstrings in tactics.
And I might also swap out sword/shield LB for axe/shield and gs every now and then. My armor would be split between soldier gear and clerics gear…and he would lack damage, even at full adrenaline, and with a superior sharpening stone, and bloodlust sigil on the gs… my attack would be around 3k, and my defense would be around 2.8k-3k. I mean i was tanky, but lacked a little dps compared to other warriors. its weird.
Maybe I just need to respect my warrior out of tankyness and put in a little crit+crit damage to help out, along with maintaining stability.
Also, I have an elementalist who i’d like to run d/f auramancer…how much hp and toughness should I have on him. Im not quite 80 yet, but when I get there, what’s good?
Just about a month and a half ago, I never knew what that little island behind HotM was until one day, I finally wanted to go check it out.
Little did I know that it was the starting tutorial area for HotM, and I felt smrt. But I guess the area was kinda cool, considering I had never been there before.
so yeah…
I think the bow for the Guardian should work like the Bow from The Immortals where the bow shot pure light energy therefore it wasn’t affected by gravity or wind. It just fires in a straight line.
I can already see the skills now.
Skill 1; Arrow of Light; Fire an Arrow made of pure light energySkill 2: Blinding Shot; Fire an arrow that explodes at the target’s location blinding them and all nearby foes for 3 seconds
Skill 3; Trailblazer; Fire an arrow at your target that leaves a trail of fire behind it. This fire cleanses a condition from all allies that pass through it.
Skill 4; Unyielding Arrow; Fire an arrow that sticks to your target. This arrow applies torment and bleeding that lasts 6secs every second for 3 seconds.
Skill 5; Triple shot; Your next 3 attacks fire 2 additional arrows.
Guardian Longbow shooting bolts of light is just. so. awesome.
Please. Just please.
Guardian spear for land…
Spear of Judgement: throw a spear that pierces targets in a line. 900range
Righteous Assault: (Like 100b only weaker, but you teleport to your target and you slash 5 times, burning your target and inflict weakness. If blinded, you deal more damage.) 600 range
Guard: you block ranged attacks and if you are struck with melee, you unleash a powerful attack, stunning your target for 2 seconds and apply 5 stacks of vulnerability.
Blinding Defense: similar to Zealots Flame, but you reapply blind to nearby foes up to 4 times for 3 seconds. (Blinding Orb: you throw an orb of light at your target and nearby foes, which blinds and weakens them)
Mystic Eruption: (like fiery eruption) you pierce the ground with your spear causing holy light to erupt around your target inflicting vulnerability and you gain retaliation. (10 stacks of vulnerability for 5 seconds)
Depends on your class. Warriors/necro have high vitality so extra toughness helps. Guardian/Elementalist have low vitality so extra vitality helps. It is best to use http://gw2buildcraft.com/ to determne your best effective health. That website does not take into account conditions being able to cut through armor.
This.
Low HP (Ele/Guard/Thief) makes Vit better than Thoug.
High HP (War/Nec) makes Thoug better than Vit.For the other 3 “Balanced HP pool” classes (Mes, Engi, Ranger) you should mix up the two.
As rule of thumb tho, Thoughness is slightly better than Vitality – except ofc the scenario of facing a condition build, but Vit alone will just delay your death, if you don’t have active counters.
B.t. dubs, it’s toughness*
awesome, thanks for all the input guys
That’s just my humble opinion.
I know that ArenaNet wants to make GW2 an e-sport and e-sports usually have just a single gamemode, but I don’t understand the lack of freshness into PvP while the PvE side of this game is extremely “living” and always new.I’m not saying that PvP should have a bi-weekly update because I understand that pushing new contents for PvP is way harder compared to PvE, but I think that at least every month there should be a novelty for the PvP side of the game to keep it as fresh as PvE not necessarily the e-sports side, but also for the playerbase aiming for fun more than competition.
There is an huge dispair between the WvWvW-PvE and PvP playerbase just because PvP feels stale for a long time and gets boring fast.
Just imagine what would happen if an official duel gamemode is implemented in the game. There would be an huge influx of player to the PvP side of the game. What about an Annihilation Random Arena-like gamemode? Pretty much the same.
TL;DR: PvP, in my opinion, needs fun and freshness typical of the PvE Living World way more than rewards and balance
that would be neat. I was thinking it’d be sweet if there was some large group pvp mission that was implemented and it rewarded more rank points and glory points depending on what rank you were in a group. Or if what if there was some kind of pvp dungeon… o_O
Build only for spvp.
for spvp you prolly want to stick with banner of tactics for extra healing power or baner of strength. I’d go with the strength banner just cuz of the condition damage boost.
er…i meant, you do have some condi cleanse, but not very reliable cleanse. take berserker stance instead of signet of stamina, OR instead of dolyak signet.
I personally take Last stand+balanced stance cuz stabilty is a no-brainer for warriors. If you run cleansing ire, that usually means you’re going to want to be bursting alot more often. So invest some points into Discipline so you’re not standing around waiting for your burst to build up every 10 secs while the bleed, poison, burn ticks on you eat you alive.
That’s not going to work at all. If you are wanting to run “bunker warrior” in pvp use sword/sword and longbow. you’ll do no damage with mace/shield and hammer with those traits. and don’t use dolyak runes. it doesn’t help at all. you’ll be gaining about 800 health every 3 seconds or so, and once you get poisoned (and i don’t see any condition removal on you) that’ll turn into about 550 health every 3 seconds. If you do want to be “unkillable,” roll wvw warrior with dogged march, lemongrass poultry soup, and melandru runes, giving you 98% more resistance to cripple, chill, and immobilize.
For pvp, i’d run a shout build with a 5man warrior team. That works great. Shout builds will be even better in the upcoming patch next week.
if you ran staff and x/f with spectral grasp, you could reapply chill for a decent amount of time if traited for it. Chill is effective, BUT is it really worth going for?
How bout some1 running a split condi/cc spec in spvp…
For WvW roaming or pvp matches, which do you prefer more of? Which benefits you more?
If you used distracting strikes with some points into precision using mace/sword and sword/mace and 1 physical utility, would it be viable in pvp? just curious
5-20 Gold per hour? You’re either extraordinarily bad at math or you’ve found a gold mine somewhere.
Two alternatives to gain materials; Skyhammer hero at 11k per hour which gets you 11 gold chests, or tournies.. whichever you choose the math holds up.
Lets assume you win all your matches per hour and each match ends within 6 minutes and ques are instant, so 10 matches per hour. 10 Gold chests and around 200 glory per (For consumable tokens)
Lets also assume Every chest grants you enough materials to craft a single dye
(Really Generous I know)
Lets also assume it takes you 0 time to actually craft the dyes and salvage the items because you’re doing it in between instant ques.So 10 Dyes per hour; which means you usually end up with 1Yellow 2 uncommons and 7 commons, Commons sell for about 1 silver each after taxes at max, uncommons can go from 1 silver to 15 silver and most rares sell from 15 to 80 silver. with some outliers going for 8 15 and 31 gold which are expensive for a reason they’re ultra rare.
Now . Care to give me your gold per hour?
you do know that you can combine dyes in the forge and get a better quality dye each time…but it really depends on how often you do hot join or skyhammer farm/glory income. Some dyes that i’d make or combine wouldn’t be quite as good as others and other dyes would be amazing.
I already had 250 arcane powders and crystals. I use a lot of my slivers on crafting paid tourney gear, and everything up to rank40. But i did have about 30 slivers left over, and I bought like 15 gold rank chests and a few silver chests and salvaged the gear from that for some more slivers. I still had around 320k glory. Then I bought my consumable tokens, and crafted away.
But I guess the gold I earn per hour would really be low, because like you said, i’d have to do enough matches to earn the glory and have enough materials to but consumable tokens and craft the dye.
I just really meant that with 150k+ glory, if you crafted dyes, you could easily make at least 10g, if not, more.
You could just go hotjoin or skyhammer farm for however long you want until you have a good 100k glory then get the mats and craft dyes.
And plus you do have a chance to get a more unique rare dye when you craft. But it’s not entirely reliable. So, I guess my wording was off a little there…
I’m all for Elona content, because I’m just waiting for the day that the crystal desert door opens in Fields of Ruin. More than likely, I bet Anet will probably expand the current territory and add new skills/builds/weapons or possibly give more weapon sets to each class, but nothing too big soon. Though I bet we’ll be able to explore places like the crystal desert, blazeridge mountains, woodland cascades, etc in future content
good god, ive seen that video countless times…
If only this was a Racing game.
After ~1 hour of contesting 2 keeps, killing dolys, harassing scouts, and other fun stuff (zero deaths, with ~10ppl group and various individuals who trying to catch me constantly) i got group invite from enemy invader…
XD lol
4.3-4.5k should be the top limit yea, I maxed out the health one.
Reached 73k health
, going for power now. Trying to break 5k power.
Yes, I got to much gold and don’t know what to do with it.
73k health…umm, what game are you playing? lol
rampage, sentinals, vit food, triple bloodlust, siegebreaker buff, banner.
not that hard actually.
Was before bloodlust, with you can go 75k+ (which was my first goal)
ermagerhd! i forgots abouts dat siegebreaker buff and triple bloodlust. thats wicked
yeah, that’s what I went with. But ppl that can actually manage those kind of builds and maintain rotations/dmg and win, that’s not so easy to do
9.5/10 Mostly because I cant really see her face because of the mask lol, but from what I can see (trying to imagine her without the mask on) she looks pretty.
anyways heres my character
mother of god!
7/10, he looks a bit like someone I used to know.
I went for a bit more serious look for my thief.
Y so srs?
I didn’t quite mean Skill-less…but to me, it just seems like such a simple build, like the previous Bulls Rush 100b combo that used to rock the scene back in the day.
It’s effective, but every1 uses it now and it’s easily countered…kind of, if played against it smart.
And I can just imagine how that conversation would go over the phone Ashanor…I can imagine there would be plenty of “constructive criticism” from you :P and it’d be quite a long, unnerving convo. So yeah, I get ya. I just wasn’t quite thinking so much about my reply there

Im assuming to either go S/D or D/F using S.o.R and if using scepter, would you go into air, spam 1 and pop 2,3,5 and maybe arcane blast? cuz then that’s a base of about 1k hp gained…or how do you optimize healing as much as possible while maintaining your dps, cuz this is something that I’m still working on with a fluid Ele. I mean, I can roll d/d or s/d ele in pvp duels and small hotjoin matches and I usually do okay with it. ill have real low health, but rely on protection and lots of healing/dodging and it’s alot to do and keep track of, but I can manage it only for so long before I eventually screw up rotations and then I die from a scratch.
I want to know how I can continuing improving use of it, plus gear, traits… the whole 9 yards :P
Whats the highest amount of toughness you can get on a warrior? I hit about 4.3k armor with Banner of Defense…not saying that it’s necessarily to go all out toughness/armor…but just for kicks seeing how high you can get it. XD
The res is boring, OP and lame. Aoe healing signet. Full condi cleanse, massive res of often 2 players on a tiny cast time. Only 180 cooldown on the skill.
Man it is just so OP.
Other spirits also OP and boring. 1 spam. Literally no skill. It is is the definition of no skill. Stand in healing spring and spam 1 = wins alot.
Can’t see a thing amongst all the BS they do. They block your attacks.
It is lame AND overpowered. But mainly lame. The res spirit just demoralises me everytime I see it.
Please just delete AI specs. Make it totally unviable with a huge nerf.
Then good rangers can shine again and Ai clutter and lameness can go away.
lol.
Lol..
LOl…
LOL….
Spirits weren’t exactly viable before, now they are/have been ever since they were buffed.
If you QQ about spirit rangers, you might as well go QQ about every other class too: Mesmer, Necro, Thief, Guardian, Warrior, Ele, Engi. you got clones/illusions/phantasms; minions; thieves guild; spirit weapons; banners being OP; Ele’s summoned elementals; and turrets.
Maybe you should just deal with it, bud. lay poison on them, use CC, stack multi conditions, something is bound to work :P But don’t just go whining about how OP it is. If it’s so OP, then you should probably use it, just like how every warrior is practically skullcrack-100b now
Pve staff…balanced zerker if that makes any sense at all :P
I need some help with this build. It’s kinda everywhere, but i like where it is atm. Im not sure what to do with the runes…i dont think Traveler runes are the right choice.
Need some feedback and suggestions to this particular build. Cuz i plan on running something like this when im able to get back on gw2 in a couple weeks
Will there ever be a patch that lets us exceed the 33% movement bonus? Because Thief has the trait that lets them move 50% faster while stealthed, BUT its actually only 33%. Engineer’s Super speed, which potentially makes them able to run 200% faster (double speed) but again, it’s only 33%.
Necros would be able to run 75% faster while in death shroud, but nope. it’s only 33%.
I get how that would be completely OP and thats why the cap was put on, but sometimes, you just wanna get out of a grizzly situation when you have a +50% movement speed bonus but it stops at 33%. then using swiftness is pointless.
it’d be awesome if the cap was increased to 50% at the most, 45%, or 40%.
But then considering this, it would be unfair to ranged attackers/projectiles because you could simply strafe/avoid their attacks without really dodging, especially in Pvp. But then, just have the velocity of every projectile increased accordingly… or just keep the movement at 33% cap?
1. Don’t make the head as big as you can make it
2. Don’t make your horns ridiculously huge on your oversized head. It’ll make your charr look plain silly.
3. Keep the horn size no more than halfway above the mid-way line…
4. Some armors only look decent on some body shapes: Some armors might look REALLY stretched and then you’ll look fat. Some boots will look really big and clonky…
A heavy armor combination that I really like on a slightly larger charr is the karma Pit Fighter Chestpiece with the Orrian/Arah Leggings, with maybe Vigil Shoulders or Armageddon Shoudlers. Either one of those 2 or HotW shoulders. For boots, I like the HoTW boots or Armageddon boots. Then for the helm, id probably pick HotW or T3 or Vigil.
Another heavy armor Combo that I think looks wicked insane is the TA chest piece with T1 Shoulders and TA leggings (not the boots) and T1 gloves or TA gloves. Then I’d put Nickel Dye on the leggings and some of it on the chest piece, just cuz it’ll make it look shiny and metallic.
6.5 Needs something to break Chest/Legs to the Fur colour/
This is my Chemical Support Guardian. Wanted to NOT look like a support guardian, and the then the Slick back pack came out. So went for a Chemical/Industrial look
SE – Helm/Chest/Shoulders
AC – Gloves
Karma – Boots
T2 – Legs
Slickpack backCharr T2 mace + T3 Sheild
Starter colours – Jalapeno and Ebony
Is it supposed to look like a cow????
yes it is a low skill on a high cd, but I was wondering if any1 would just give it a shot in Wvw, or if they already have. i’ve only used it so little times in Pve…but maybe…maybe it might be of a little help in Wvw? like in roaming or something…. prolly not, but maybe
yeah, it’s a fantastic skill dont get me wrong, but it just needs to have something implemented to make it more viable, aside from the insta blast finisher that starts when you start channeling it
Crossbow is what you guys mean.
that may be true, you can use frozen burst, ring of earth, magnetic grasp then churning earth, but by the time immobilize wears off, they can still dodgeroll even if theyre chilled.
I can see one of few ways of landing Churning Earth is using signet of earth for that 3 sec immobilize. But other than that, it’s kinda hard now to land it using earthquake. Maybe that’d work if Magnetic Grasp was made into an insta-cast
Rofl this thread made my day, also clever word play “do not attempt or attempt” that alone made you truly balanced
.
I try…
There’s nothing wrong with churning earth as it is.
yeah, except the 3 seconds that you’re standing there channeling it, while your opponent just casually steps aside or waits for you to use lightning flash and then they dodge it.
I think it would be super OP, but it sounds really neat
.
Something to add onto the idea — YOU control the pull.
Very neat suggestion.
If you controlled the pull, that would be even more OP. Here’s what It might look like.
You start channeling, halfway thru you use Lightning Flash and teleport to your target, then before they can dodge or get away, you use the pull and boom, they’re done.
what if it simply had a pull effect added to it? Not a huge repeating pull, but the animation kinda looks like an earthly undertow. So, I was thinking the pull would obviously start when you start channeling the skill and your target would be pulled to you of course. And i think i’m going a bit too far here, BUT lets say that targets within the radius that tried using movement skills were either immobilized 1 sec or knocked down for 1 sec. But I do think that adding a pull to it would be a bit better because of it’s telegraphed-ness
