I think its ok if they do that in AC or CM, in dungeons higher than that can be annoying. Once i pugged HotW p1 and at the end boss 2 players switched to their alts when the boss was like 25% hp, the 3 of us who remained fighting the boss ended up wiping because 25% hp on that boss is still quite a lot. No one got kicked in that group but that run took a long time to complete.
Dont forget to get a cooler pad for your laptop too, laptops do work on higher temperatures than desktops and when you play in zergs for example you can easily overheat your computer. Also i think its better to remove the battery while you play, because if the battery is fully charged and the power is still plugged it generates more heat on the laptop.
Change your Berserker Jewels with Soldier.
You “fall” to 48k of critical chance, but increase your toughness and your vitality. Increasing your toughness you increase you power (trait) and whit your power you increase your vitality (trait). But only a little.Or you can use a 6/4/4/0/0 build, with berserker wepon and armor and soldier jewels.
You increase your power to 2680, your healt to 24k, but reduce your crit damage to 185% and your crit rate to 46% (whit fury you reach 66%, and it’s good). Very good damage, good HP and good survavibility.I currently use this: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fJIQNBhODbkpjaP77wyDORD8DImDMox1Vb09G-ThSBwABs/Yn6PVOCAmVCeV5XnDCAKdB41Ik/BAA4CAIIAzB-e
How big is difference?
Much better
But you should use runes of the scholar instead of ruby orbs, after the ferocity patch ruby orbs lost quite a bit of dps.
In other games it’s worse, since in most mmos you can inspect other player’s gear. In other mmos you can also use mods that can read the group’s or player’s dps and stuff (there are mods that can even see what mods other players are using), so in these games if someone is not geared properly and is not dealing the expected amount of dps they can be kicked from the group.
Also in mmos with trinity you end up dealing with entitled players just because they play as a tank for example, since it can take quite a while to get a tank for a pug group sometimes you have to deal with bullkitten from these players and you cant just kick him because its hard to get another one for a dungeon run.
GW2 has elitism but this game is pretty “casual” compared with other mmos :P
I think its more common to get harrassed in dungeons on other mmos than here in gw2, i was playing rift on my free to play account once and decided to pug a dungeon, i started to run around to do the quests but i ended up pulling mobs so i ran back to the group, the tank of the group replied with a “GJ kitten” on group chat after what i’ve done. After that i stopped running ahead of the tank.

If you want to be efficient you should use melee weapons on most of the classes. On elementalist you can use staff and still be optimal since staff elementalist has huge dps, on engineer too you can use grenades.
I think necros can be good ranging too if you use that build that camps deathshroud auto atack, but i think dagger necro is still better.
If you made a ranger thinking they are good archers i’m sorry to disappoint you, but bow rangers suck for dungeons.
So basically if you want a pure ranged class go for elementalist or engineer.
I’m having that problem since friday too.
Right now only my thief is getting that error when i try to login with her. Looks like it only happens to me when i move to some maps, like in friday for example every alt i tried to move to divinity’s reach got that error message or a client crash.
I would like to have helm and shoulder at lvl 1 so i can farm keys more efficiently. I upgraded my account to deluxe edition but i picked the light armor skin instead of heavy, so i think there isn’t any other way to get another lvl 1 account bound shoulder and helm.
I didnt count in hours the amount of time it took me to solo him, but i practiced soloing him for over 2 months until i finally did it. My case was the same as Trice’s, i learned to fight Lupicus and to run arah before trying to run it in a group.
I remember that i had a lot of trouble with phase 1 too, i was dodging at the wrong time the grub atack, another thing that was difficult for me to learn was the warrior’s sword block, i dont know why but i remember pressing the key but the block would still not happen, which was infuriating because if i tried to press “5” twice i would always cancel the block. I think i managed to fix that by pressing and holding 5 until i was sure it worked. Nowadays i dont have that problem anymore.
But i remember how it was exciting when i finally got to phase 3, at that time i didnt know about the wall trick, so i was always anxious when he was close to be killed, i was always wasting endure pain on stupid things instead of saving it for the barrage atack or the bubble. And in the time when i did manage to get him to phase 3 but i ended up getting hit by the life drain and making him come back to phase 2. It was fun ^^

Yes.
Then if you use koi cake for example (+40% cond duration if you are not alreading using) your other conditions will have +95% duration, but bleeding will still have 100% duration because of the duration cap.
Nemisis’s gw2 account got hacked the second time, we won’t see his necro guides again :/
Soloing Lupicus on warrior is more forgiving because you can take a few hits and still survive. The aoe in phase 2 for example you can get hit by 2 red circles and still stay alive, healing signet also helps a lot, its so much passive regeneration that its almost broken, and you also have blocks on warrior.
The difficult you may have by soloing with warrior is that you may run out of dodges if you dont manage well your evades and stuff, and on thief you basically never runs out of dodges, but it can be frustrating if you dont dodge at the right time you get hit by those aoe in phase 2.
But if you learn how to solo Lupicus on a thief you will be a better player imo than if you just use warrior, you need an almost flawless rotation to solo Lupicus on thief because of how punishing it is if you dodge on the wrong time and so on.
ANet nerfed necros in wvw
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/A-Note-on-Necroposting-don-t-do-it/first#post4245260
The birthday booster timer stops when you are not playing with the character that has it activated. I used it on my necro to lvl up and it lasted for more than a month because i didnt play very often with that character.
But you are talking about the wvw birthday gift, i dont know what that is.
I play on NA, and i rarely see the “5k+ ap” lfg adds, and i’ve never seen people selling dungeons other than arah here, but i see a lot of people posting on the forums about sellers on these dungeons so i assume its more a EU thing.
About the clueless pugs you can see then everywhere, you said a pug stole the barrel from the rock on cm p2, when i pug the path there is always someone that agroes the mobs stuck on the barrel, normally its a ranger or another class with minion, but its rare for me to have a smooth cm p2 run even with those exploits.
About pugs that dont ress that only made me annoyed once in hotw p2, my group wiped at the beginning of that svanir boss fight (the one with 2 quaggans), and the guardian just proceeded to solo the boss even though he was doing NO damage, and he didnt want to ooc. Gladly one of the players used a revive orb and ressed everyone else, i was ready to ask for a kick on that guardian.
You can open the instance yourself and run the dungeon with a group, then when it ends and everyone leaves you can explore the dungeon, if you get better at exploring you can start trying to break the maps.
I’ve witnessed that illusionist in the berserker’s place in arah p2 only once, but i can confirm its real.
Berserker is the stat combination power+precision+ferocity.
You can search about it on the wiki
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Main_Page
If you want to look for a guide for guardian in pve i can recommend this one
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/guardian/Guide-DPS-Guardian-for-PVE/page/5#post3957177
ANet should do something about skipping in dungeons, players should be forced to kill everything in the way before advancing to the next section. Also soloing dungeons should be bannable, i hate when i look at the lfg and see people selling arah, it bothers me the way they play, and i cant get a group for arah because when i join these groups they kick me because i refuse to pay then. I shouldn’t have to pay to play the content right???
You dont need 5k ap to be able to join a pug group, you see those lfg adds because they take much longer to fill, when i put add like “cof p1 casual run” it fills instantly.
Now if you want to learn how to run the dungeon paths you can search on youtube for video guides, or join a good guild that does dungeon runs and accept other people to join the group, because some guilds just want to run with the same people everytime, these guilds are not worth joining. You can also look for the dungeon mentors, just look at the dungeon forum section and you will see a stickied thread about then.
About skipping, some dungeons have trash mobs that are op, seriously, they can give you more trouble than the bosses, and on top of that they drop NOTHING if you kill then, specially in arah if you try to clear the trash mobs you will spend an entire evening doing it for just one path, so you need to learn how to skip, i’m sorry.
It helps a lot too if you use a pve meta build for dungeons, dont bring your wvw build there because it makes the runs considerable more difficult if the members are not built and geared properly for the content, which leads to more frustration when the run starts to fail.
Story mode dungeons should reward the same as explorable, most of then take quite a long time to complete when compared to their explorable mode versions. TA, SE, HotW, CoE, CoF and arah story modes take pretty long time to complete.
But that would make it more difficult for a new player to get into dungeons, because of lfg adds like “lvl 80 experienced”, but the way that story modes are right now its difficult to get a full group too.
You are not missing only a bit of crit damage, you are missing the damage multipliers too. In the current pve meta build you get +15% damage when with full adrenaline, +10% against bleeding foes, +10% when your hp is above 90% and so on. And in gw2 those damage bonus are multiplicative, which means its 1.15*1.1*1.1 just from these 3 bonuses i listed. Also the current meta build can stack might pretty easily from greatsword hits.
Map completition and explorer achievement are two different things. You can have 100% world completition and still be missing areas, like you say you have 176/177 in ascalon. Those areas usually hide secret caves or mini dungeons and stuff. To find out which area you are missing look at your map and see if there are any grey areas, then look to the map on the wiki and see if that grey area is normal or there is a named area there. Each one of these 177 areas have a specific name.
Cond damage builds are pretty bad for arah, except for abomination and lupicus. If you want to solo arah p1 you only use your rabid armor on lupicus, because its faster to kill the ooze in a power build and those crystalline entities are immune to conditions.
In p2 its kinda hard to do the rotation with longbow on Belka because she reflects half of the time, Alphard has extremely low condition duration applied to her, and then on Brie you cant do the burst phase on her with conditions.
So, that cond warrior build is pretty much an Abomination/Lupicus solo build, and thats it.
Fall of Scarlet.
Rise of Scarlet would be cool too.
To learn i think its best trying to solo p2 or getting someone to teach you. Trying to learning by pugging can be a nightmare. Most veteran players dont have patience or skill to teach a newbie and lots of newbies keep ragequitting a lot, making you waste time posting another lfg add until it gets bugged, when i pug and i see a 1k ap player joining i know that he will ragequit on the second wipe.
Soloing arah p2 is not harder than doing it in a group honestly, if you notice on the solo videos the players keep reseting the first boss by running back to the bone wall, that makes it much safer to solo Belka. The skipping parts wont be more difficult just because you are soloing, the second boss (Abomination) is pretty easy after you learn his moves, after that you finally get to Lupicus.
You said you had difficult with Alphard, i think you probably fought him before anet fixed the bug which caused her bomb to oneshot people, she now is much easier.
Berserker is still king in pve, nothing has changed. But you can still do a more supportive role and equip zerk, the support you do is not dependent of your stats. Like mesmers for example, you can trait for more reflection uptime, for more dps or for more phantasm dps, guardians can do lots of support with boons and consecrations, and it doesnt matter your gear stats for that.
I miss the dragon bash this year because of the food. Last year all the consumables were costing 30c, now the food i use most (which gives precision and steal life on crit) is costing almost 5 silver.
If we get another dragon bash i will stock a full bank tab of those foods.
Are you trying to equip it from the wardrobe screen or from your inventory?
I think thats the problem he is facing too. I’ve seen some returning players saying in map chat that they couldn’t equip anything and so on, and turns out that they were trying to equip their armor from the wardrobe tab.
From what dungeon he was kicked?
You should move. Some servers have such a low population that anet should merge then. My server for example, Ehmry Bay, is always last in the wvw matches and should be merged with the other 2 lowest wvw ranked servers, i should have used that free transfer anet offered before wvw season 2 and moved to Northern Shiverpeaks or another middle ranked server.
Condition duration is capped at 100%. You have that trait that gives +50% bleeding duration and you have 30% condition duration from your points in strength. So the +45% bleed duration from the runes of krait and the sigils and food are wasted because of the duration cap.
I think this video has a good cond damage warrior build for solo play, you should take a look
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RZgbtqU25I&channel=TurboDzan
I get surprised with some sociopaths that i meet in game. For example the heitred one, i met a lot of people that were friends of him and kept defending him when i told that he killed my arah instance a few times and has been doing it with everyone, but no, they said he is a nice guy, that he teaches newbies in his arah guild on how to run arah, there was even that other player atse in this forum defending him too, saying that its was probably the victim’s fault for being kicked from their instance.
Its really shocking seen this kind of behaviour, and seeing people defending these crazy sociopaths just because they are likable people.
Can you use that mesmer skill that morphs you into a moa on the spider queen?
Its only worth transfering if you want a more active wvw server. For pve everyone shares the same megaserver now. If you are transfering because of wvw you need to think about the queues that the biggest servers have during reset time and so on, a tier 1 server may have longer queues, while mid tier server may never have queues for wvw maps.
Oh, and if you are a new player you can just delete all your characters, this way you can transfer for free. All the currencies you have in your wallet and stuff you have in your bank will be carried to your new server.
I hope they release that katana soon. I just bought the ninja outfit and gave to my ranger, now i’m just missing the ninja weapons. I think anet will release then as black lion skins, maybe they will make all the weapons on that style, like the dagger can be a re-skinned version of spark and so on.
If you are talking about the Ascalonian Catacombs dungeon then its because its easier for a thief to exploit and skip to the last boss. In AC i think only elementalists can solo it legit.
Its easier for thief to exploit because they have a spammable blink skill on shortbow #5, and depending of where you use the blink skill you can break into the map of the dungeon, allowing you to go straight to the final boss.
Stacking is very effective since we dont have tanks in this game. In mmos with trinity the tank runs around the room pulling all the mobs, then he keeps circling until he makes a compact ball of mobs then he enters inside it, when he completes it the dps players go inside the ball and do aoe atacks to kill the mobs.
Without a tank what we do is stacking behind a wall or corner or whatever and wait while someone pulls the mobs, that way all the mobs will come and stack with the players, even ranged mobs will stay together in that corner, making it easy to cleave then down and use aoe.
Runes of strength will get nerfed :/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQi_9NigzC4&channel=WoodenPotatoes
Charrs have a racial shout skill that is just like For Great Justice but with a slight longer cooldown, so its another source of fury that charr warriors can provide to the group.
Humans dont have any racial skill that adds to warrior, the racial healing skill Pray to Dwayna is worse than the warrior’s healing skills, humans have the hounds of balthazar elite skill but charrs have the warband elite skill (but i’ve never used those 2).
So go for charr if you want 2 For Great Justice shouts in your utility skills or go for human if you like the cultural armor.
I really liked to watch the tournament and to know that ANet supported it too. It would be nice if the next new dungeons that they release they could invite some speedrun guilds to test it and make a competition. Lets suppose that they release a new dungeon in Maguuma, they could invite some guilds and stream they running through it, and add some rules like if the team wipes they get 30 secs added to their time and so on, so people would be more conservative about stacking squishier classes against a brand new challenge.
But i hope they dont add mechanics like that ooze escort in Aetherblade path, it would be boring watching a group getting stuck for half an hour trying to get the puzzle done.
There is no way to see which paths you have already done by looking at the achievements, i mean, there is no correlation like you are saying, like tier 1 being story, tier 2 being path 1 and so on. You will have to remember which paths you have done by yourself.
You can search on youtube for videos for the paths 2 and 3 so you can try to remember which one you have already done. In path 2 you first fight Belka, an asura boss who uses a bow and keeps teleporting around and knocking you back at some flaming barrels, path 3 you starting fight 2 bosses together, one with a bow that keeps poisoning and immobilizing and other that has a hammer and one shots you.
Oh, if you are not sure if you have done p1 and p4, p1 you fight a giant ooze at the beginning and p4 is a long-kitten path, people usually leave p4 for last before getting DM.

I recommend you to salvage every loot you get, except the ones that you want to equip. Always run with at least 4 salvage kits of the cheapest kind. I recommend that you also gather every mat you see, so its good if you buy a mining pick and sickle and a logging axe.
The only thing you should really buy from the trade post right now are the inventory bags, you can press “O” to open the trade post and search for “slot bags”, the 8 slot bags cost like 10c, 10 slot bag may be 10s i think and so on, its good if you buy the 8 slot bags right now.
To access your bank you go to the capital cities from your race (Divinity’s Reach for human, Black Citadel for charr, Hoelbrak for norn and so on), but you can also access your bank from the crafting stations (like weaponsmith, tailor jeweller…), just interact with then and click on the tab for bank.
You can automatically deposit the mats you gathered like logs and leather without having to go to a bank, on your inventory there is a gear on the up right corner, click on it and select “deposit collectibles”.
Those are the basic stuff that i found most useful when i started playing.
You can play like Galdalf, its a really OP build, if you use it in a dungeon everyone will bow and thank you for carrying then and for being so awesome.
On the bright side, at least now ascended stuff is account bound, so you can give the other ring to an alt.
Every time you make a new character you get a mail with the bank golem, plus you get an armor that you can wear on your lvl 1 character, so if you farm with a heavy armor character you need to choose the heavy armor skin and it will be account bound. For that armor i only use the helm and shoulders since the armor gives vitality instead of power.
But the problem is that right now the price of gems in gold are really high, when i upgraded my account to deluxe edition it was on sale for 1000 gems and the gem price was lower.
Edit: i’ve never received that hero’s band you’re talking about, only the golem.
If you open your story journal (or whatever name its called) where it shows all the steps of the personal story you did with your character, you will also see which rewards you got from then. ANet should make it so the skins from those rewards also become unlocked on the wardrobe.
I started learning arah by trying to solo it, it can be really difficult trying to learn it in a pug, because very experienced groups may kick you if you always lag behind, and if you put an add saying that you are new and that everyone is welcome you may end up with 900 ap players wearing greens and that will keep ragequitting on every death, and seriously, bad groups can make the dungeon more difficult than soloing it.
I recommend Brazil’s guide to how to solo arah p2 up to lupicus and how to solo lupicus, Lupicus is the most difficult boss there and he is in all paths, so if you know what does he do you will be good to pug the dungeon
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtpZ_k-QR-k&list=UUXb625IE1vjylfTRW3-B6Lg
The only problem with trying to solo p2 is the first boss, Belka, she can be really annoying, because she does a combo where she shoots a slow moving projectile that one shots you then she uses a knockback that puts you exatly on the place where the one-shot projectile lands, but after you learn how to deal with that it is doable. I recommend getting lots of harpy feathers for some short duration stealth during the skip parts which helps a lot too.
Edit: this is the Belka’s combo i’m talking about
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P90KklK_tag
(edited by Casmurro.9046)
Like Sins said, you are probably used to have classes that can keep the vets blinded in your pug groups, like guardians. I always run TA foward with my guardian so i can keep blinds and aegis up for most of the fight, and doing the skip before that tunnel without a guardian in the group can be really difficult depending on the pug.
