If i were you i would sell the shield then buy the precursor and mats for the legendary hammer. Offhand legendary weapons are not very cool, they dont give you footprints and stuff.
And the awesome look of the shield will be covered by your aegis when you are afk at Lions Arch, so i dont see the point of having a legendary weapon if you cant stay afk and look cool.
AP is achievement points. Some people believe that AP is a measure of player skill, even though you dont get much ap for doing difficult content, you get it mostly from living story and dailies.
If you see a lfg add asking for Xk AP its better to avoid it, even if you meet the requirement, those groups usually suck.
Did you guys stacked against spider queen? If you did and succeeded, did you used dps builds or tanky build?
About the spider queen: can i move while fighting her, as long as i stay in melee range?
Because when i play as a squishy class i always end up downed first, sometimes the fight doesnt finish so fast and some groups lack condition cleanse, so if i position myself away from her melee atack but keep next to the red ring under her, does it work?
I prefer human guardian. The T3 human cultural armor fits more the guardian style, and the humans have a racial healing skill that is a good alternative for guardians.
I think i know what champion you’re talking about. You need someone to help you pulling agro while you take the skill point, but i agree that ANet should remove that champion from there, if you are in a dead server you wont find anyone on the map to help you with that.
If you cant find any help, you can try to use an ash legion spy kit

Seeing those kind of builds that people use to run in other professions makes me think how warrior is OP for pve. If you had a zerker warrior in your group there would be no doubt of who is dealing more dps. A sword ranger may have awesome dps, but the weapon is just awful, i would like to see a ranger fighting alphard and being able to dodge that pull while using sword.
A zerker warrior is naturally tanky, have lots of blocks, endure pain, have an easy time skipping stuff and so on, and they dont need to sacrifice survivability for that, people that run shout heal builds are deluded if they think that those 1.5k heals are helping then in anything, a dps build actually increases your survivability on a warrior making it easier to rally.
Just tell to your friends to lvl up a warrior and leave just one guardian in the group, it will make things much easier.
Oh, and even if there is anyone that can dodge alphards pull with sword ranger the pet cant dodge, thats another fight where you just want to kill the pet right at the beginning.

I miss SWTOR story quests. I would like to know what happens to Vette, but the free to play mode from swtor is unplayable :/
I understand when i see veteran players saying that they got bored from the game, that after getting dungeon master title, fotm lvl 50 and being skilled in several professions of the game, i understand that after achieving all that there is no challenging content to do in the game.
But i see some people complaining about the lack of endgame without even finishing leveling their first character to lvl 80. I think what they want is to keep chasing a carrot on a treadmill, like farming a dungeon or a raid for weeks until you get a piece of gear that unlocks another dungeon or raid, where you will keep farming for more weeks until you get that BiS weapon, for then a new patch comes out making your weapon useless in pvp and pve, making you repeat all the carrot-chasing again.
GW2 started with the promisse with no gear treadmill, they broke that promisse with ascended gear but i believe they will not add any new stronger tier after that. But you need to understand that this is not WoW, you can’t play GW2 with a WoW mentality.
Arah p2 can be soloed, but anet buffed the last boss, so its kinda tricky now. But you can solo all the way to Giganticus Lupicus, who is one of the most popular bosses in the game because of the trouble some pug groups have to defeat him, but skilled players can solo him. You can search for some arah p2 solo vídeos on youtube and some lupicus solos. If you like difficult content you will find it fun ^^
The true endgame content in gw2 is Arah and fractals, looking for mastering all dungeon paths can keep you busy for a long time.
(edited by Casmurro.9046)
My endgame is keep trying to be more skilled with the professions i play. I like to try to solo dungeons and recently i finally learned how to solo lupicus with my warrior, i would like to be more skilled with my mesmer and elementalist too.
I’m also crafting an legendary focus, since the precursor for it is one of the cheapest, i have 100% world completition, dungeon master, 7 professions on lvl 80, and i’m leveling the last profession i’m missing.
Its what Vayne said, you make your own goals, you can lvl up your pvp rank, your wvw rank, you can farm gold to buy stuff. Since you already paid for the game you are not losing anything, gw2 is much better than any free to play mmo out there, and i personally like the combat system, i like being able to run while shooting or casting spells or swinging a sword.

Maybe if you make an asura… The camera is better for then.
I’m sad that those consumables got nerfed, it was so fun to run around with then. Sometimes i was lucky to get a bear from the ogre whistle, so i could run around in dungeons with my warrior and a bow saying that i was a “bearbow warrior”, and asking then to not kick me XD
You need to wait until Dulfy finishes a guide for this living story. Like how to collect all those fragment kitten to get to that thing and so on
I pugged with that Heitred yesterday. I soloed arah p2 legit until alphard, then i posted on lfg. He was the first one to join. He is very skilled in Arah, he even has a guild focused in running arah daily, [ARAH] is the name.
The only problem i saw was that he runs sword+shield on warrior, and he also uses all the lupicus skips on his runs.
That red post was months ago. Can we get any kind of update on fixing this OBVIOUS bug? I just had my dungeon group that I had instance ownership of randomly kicked out of the dungeon on the last boss, including myself.
I posted in LFG for a 5th party member, and next thing i see 1 guy join, my whole instance reset, and my whole party fell apart.
When you have a group of 4, the only way i think to kill the instance is if someone from your group merges with another party. So if you need a 5th player in a last boss tell your party to NOT MERGE GROUPS!
I compared the dps from the same skill’s tooltip. And i play as a warrior too. But my point was that even people who brag about thenselves usually dont run full zerker, this “zerker or gtfo” is not so common in the regular lfg pugs.
(edited by Casmurro.9046)
I dont see this “zerker or gtfo” atitude in the lfg, honestly. The only dungeon that i see that happening frequently is CoF p1, for other dungeons i rarely see 2 or more zerker members in a party. Even in CoE where you can just stack and burst down Alpha without getting hit i see lots of condition mesmers, bunker guardians, shout heal warriors etc.
Once i was soloing arah p2 and decided to post on lfg for people to help kill lupicus, there was a warrior who was very self-confident, saying that he could solo lupicus and blablabla, the group wiped twice but we made it, at the end he pinged his sword block skill and i noticed that in the tooltip it had half of the damage compared with my sword skill.

People that are suggesting sigil of fire for dungeons are probably TP flippers that invested on that sigil. Sigil of fire is trash.
You can use ranged weapon at melee range.
That’s right. And it should make you more vulnerable. Just imagine a swordsman and an archer face to face. Bows are pretty fragile, namely the good bows, and the most fragile part is so called back, the side which is facing away from archer and to the potential threat. A single scratch on bows back can result in a break. So the first cut goes through the bow and the bow arm, the other finishes the archer. Before he manages to touch an arrow.
Using a ranged weapon in melee should destroy or heavily damage the ranged weapon, and make the ranged fighter a very soft target.
They should apply that mechanic to the game, that way we would stop seeing rangers using longbow when the group is stacking, or mesmers using greatsword in the same situation.
Sigil of battle is better than force, at least for warriors and guardians? So the best combinations would be battle+night or battle+force, so the best combination for a warrior would be night+battle for axe/mace and force+night for greatsword. For daytime dungeon you could use a slaying sigil instead of the night sigil.
Alphard was always like that. When i started soloing arah p2 i noticed that the vulnerability stacks from my warrior’s rending strikes trait were lasting for less than a sec, so i started using that trait that gives precision for each signet instead. I think that alphard is the only boss who has this bug.

If you play a squishy class its better to not use then.
Thanks for the heads up. I feel a bit silly having used them all this time and not having noticed.
Me too :/
I’ve only discovered that thread recently, and probably that bug exists since the launch of the game.

I learned from a transylvanian youtuber that those tactics are exploiting and are ruining the game. I will just ignore that advice and start running healing shouts for now on, i dont want gw2 to die because of such exploits!
The only way i could’ve survived in that stack would be if i used the build from this vídeo:
In a low lvl group of non-heavy armor players just that web atack that causes immobilizes can down the squishiest members immediatly, so a support build with healing shouts and runes of soldier would help the group.
I know that that kind of warrior build is weak in a lvl 80 group, but with low lvl groups it really makes a difference. If you go to AC with a lvl 35 engineer with armor with power+precision stats you will be downed with the most basic auto-atacks from the mobs.
(edited by Casmurro.9046)
I know that there are bots in HotW, i’ve reported dozens of then already.
With a low lvl group some common tactics such as stacking become much more difficult. Once i was in a group with 3 lowbies in AC, we simply couldn’t survive in the stack against the spider queen.
Guardians and warriors have an easier time when they are low lvl, but engs thieves eles etc are really squishy.
And before lvl 80 your character usually doesnt have an effective build yet, a lvl 80 mesmer or engineer is totally different from a lvl 40.
Skipping huge parts of a dungeon is an intended mechanic. Back on the CoF P1 farm days there were a lot of discussion on how to nerf that kitten, i remember reading a post from a dev thinking about making the bridge event mandatory, but of course they never made that.
If ANet really wanted to make skipping impossible it should add more barriers like that one in SE p1. I think another way to force players to kill trash mobs is to remove wp from the dungeon, like in Arah p1 where if your group wipe at lupicus you need to run again by half of the path’s trash mobs if you want to skip.
I think they will apply some mechanics from those guild bounty npcs on the dungeon bosses. There is one bounty npc that keeps spamming aoe freezing, and if you have freezing you cant do direct damage to him, only conditions. So you need to be able to cleanse conditions frequently or you can spec to cond damage to be able to keep your dps up.
There are lots more puzzle-like fights that they can add to make other specs viable without nerfing the direct damage builds.
Give him a break. Its clear that he doesn’t like the dungeon speedclear playstyle, so he will not give publicity to the dungeon’s meta builds on his channel, he streams how he wants.
I find it weird that wvw players think that stacking in dungeons is not an intended gameplay, but in wvw they play in zergs which is basically 100s of players stacking against another 100s of players.
If you try to push your personal story i believe the most far you can get is that claw island quest, that waves of undead that dont give any xp will be a a pain.
Its true. Lot of dungeon groups lack skill, run bad builds and have an elitist attitude. Its specially worse on holidays or times of the day where you have less adults playing.
It will be easier for you to just watch a guide then join a group that doesnt ask for experienced/speed run. I think the only dungeon where people hate new players is arah, not many people are skilled enough to run it even though they claim that they are experienced, and as a new player you will have a lot of difficult with skipping, Lupicus tells and stuff.
GW2 lacks pve endgame. People were saying that since the game was launched. We have the same 8 dungeons, the only meaninful content added was the fractals, but the hardcore fractal players got their progress reseted without getting any compensation (unlike what happened to pvp players). The same old bugs in dungeons are still there, the npcs in AC that block your progress, the skips in Arah.
This game needs an expansion and not temporary content, Rift for example got an expansion that added an world that was 3 times bigger than the original, GW2 needs something like that, not minigames, not more achievement check-lists every 2 weeks, we need more meaninful content!.
Rangers need a new high dps weapon to use in dungeon’s speedruns, you dont need the leaps from the sword if the boss is usually rooted in place. Necros also have a problem with speedruns because they dont have a high dps weapon that cleaves.
Until ANet fixes these issues we will still see a lot of lfg posts that says “lfm full zerk. No ranger/necro”
You’re fighting a lot of bandits and centaurs because you are still in the human’s maps. In the norn’s maps you fight grawl and sons of svanir, in the charr lands you fight ghosts and those lizards, and so on.
But yes, there is not much enemy variety in the game, in the lvl 80 maps you will just fight undeads.
People do. Groups usually use a place to stack and LoS Kholer and his adds, they say that if you kill him fast enough he won’t have time to do the spinning atack, but i’ve seen him doing the spinning right at the beginning.
But i dont think its worth killing that boss, that chest only gives blues and a tonic.
I found this vídeo showing the rotation of ele’s build and skills and stuff, i think it may be helpful
Most dungeons requires that you know where to stack and line of sight the mobs, you can do that by just following the group. You can only mess up with the group if you walk away from the stack on spider queen in AC or start knocking back the mobs when people are trying to stack, but that knockback problem is more common to happen with longbow rangers, i really hate when i’m fighting Malrona in TA up with my guardian and a ranger interrupts the boss just when i place the wall of reflection to use against her aoe.
Other than that you may find some difficult in skipping enemies in dungeons, but i think not many paths have hard skipping parts, i think only in Arah and TA foward you find OP trash mobs.
Then, for gear… People will say go full berserker, but for an elementalist its quite difficult to stay alive when you dont know the enviroment, so maybe if you use 2 or 3 pieces of soldier gear and the rest all berserker that may help.
I have an elementalist that is my only class that doesnt use the full glass cannon meta build, i put 20 points in water and sometimes i swap the chest and pants with soldier gear to make it easier, but i’m bad at playing ele.
The new version of the spider queen is what causes this problem. When i started playing there was not much difficult in running AC with low lvl players because the dungeon was too easy, the only part that could be problematic was the burrow’s room where you defend Hodgins. The new AC is still very easy for lvl 80 groups but its very punishing if you stack lvl 35 players against the bosses.
So, to fix that they should change the way that the downscaling works for lvl 80 players, there should be a cap on power, crit chance, armor and so on, so that lvl 80 players that are still gearing up dont get too weak and that full ascended lvl 80s dont feel that they are too overpowered in a lvl 35 dungeon, and i think they should tone down a bit the spider queen aoe, it can kill a lvl 35 character in a sec.
Its interesting to see that even players that are far from following the meta still have an elitist behaviour. I’ve seen longbow rangers making groups for AC and kicking other members based on their AP or being below lvl 80. A decent lvl 50 warrior is better to have in the group than the lvl 80 ranger that doesnt bring spotter and frost spirit.
Restricting your group based on AP will only get you AP farmers, and not necessarily skilled dungeon runners. Don’t advertise “speed run” in your posts if you are running a “survivalist” mesmer or whatever.
If this game had some kind of way to inspect gear on other players you would be the one getting booted from parties, and not the lower AP players that happen to know how to speed run dungeons.
My ranger’s build is just like that old Brazil’s ranger build, but after they moved the spirit’s trait to adept category i started running 15 points in beastmastery, so i have 20% lower pet swap cooldown and a trait that gives might on pet swap.
I think that having 15 points in beastmastery is very helpful, my cats are not dying so easily now.
A skilled mesmer is awesome to have in a dungeon group, i usually dont see many mesmers around and most of those that i group with just keep camping with greatsword at range. Only after i started leveling a mesmer i noticed how useful they can be, even that focus pull can be traited for reflection, which i found amazing. Most mesmers dont even use feedback though. And if you are good at skipping in dungeons you can port the rest of the group, you also have access to stealth.
The problem is that mesmers are very weak at low lvls, they can be difficult to lvl up compared to necros.
i see more, mesmer thiefs eles and necros selling p2 than warrior because they use their blink skill to go underwater and i sell p3 + 4 most days on my guardian, i personally see no problem with warrior
Edit: why was a post about warriors being “op” at selling arah merged with whether selling is illegal
Guardians also have a blink skill that works on… you know…
The amount of AP is useful for me when i want to report a bot. If i suspect a player is a bot first i add him to my block list, then if the person has like 200 ap i report him for botting.
There are lots of bots on the HoTW entrance and in the champion train in frostgourge sound in Blackgate, there is even a guild for these bots.
You’re always seeing those “warriors only” groups because they take much longer to fill. Every time when i want to start a group i usually post “P1. already inside”, normally the group is filled in seconds.
Most of the ads in the lfg tool dont last much longer, only the path sellers and the “warriors only 5k+AP” persist for too much time.
And most of those warriors only group for CoE are shout heal warriors, they need more healing shouts in order to be able to tank alpha’s aoe.
The up path is the easiest. The foward path is easy but there is one road full of mobs that can be difficult to skip because of some elite mobs that use hammer to knock you down and they also deal massive damage, but if you have stability/stun breakers you can make the run, having a guardian makes it easier, you can also use stealth to get through.
Those 2 paths are lvl 55, but there is also the new aetherblade path that is lvl 80, but few people run it, this aetherblade path replaced the old foward/up path, ANet said that they removed the old path because few people used to run it, but that happened after a bug was introduced on the final boss that made it spawn infinite waves of spiders, making it almost impossible to beat if your group wipes on the first try. The 2 times i ran the aetherblade path it took more than an hour to finish, but my groups weren’t experienced.
^ That. At the end of a story mode dungeon you get 50s plus that chest that pops up on your screen, just like those daily chests, that chest only pops up when everyone finishes watching the cutscene.
To see if you got the achievement go to your achievement panel, and look if the crucible of eternity exploration is marking 1/4 (one story mode and 3 exp paths). If its 1/4 it means that you got the achievement.
