Whaaaaaat ? You guys are mad ! This is a major quality of life improvement, seriously.
It seems you did not understand what it is. If you keep it enabled, nothing has changed, so no problem for you.
Yet, if you disable it … HURRAH ! You now no longer stupidly lose your current target because game thought you wanted to click instead of moving your camera.
Seriously disagree with this, have been waiting this for such a long time.

I don’t understand? Haha. Nobody is saying the right click toggle should go away, we’re saying the “interact” portion shouldn’t be lumped in because it essentially turns one action into two in numerous instances.

Instead of indirectly insulting the others, YOU might try to read too … I said there was no change with before, I think recalling I still could interact with a right click … but nah, you want to show you’re so much more clever than the others !
Anyway, even if this was not the case anymore, I don’t see it as a major issue seriously … would it be so hard to press F or double click ? O_o
There are so many things more important to do …

You couldn’t use only F in any of the examples I listed, again, if you bothered to read.

Is using two actions instead of one a big deal? Of course not. That doesn’t mean it should be a side effect of something that was supposed to be a quality-of-life improvement.

Let me know how 6000 or so just appeared in your inventory with little to no effort, because some people are around that many and still no ticket. That’s alot of time and money on their part.

Listen to what you’re saying. People have opened 6000 coffers… THREE DAYS INTO THE EVENT. You have an entire MONTH.

“Waaaaaah I farmed all day and didn’t get what I wanted immediately!” Or is it something like “I was stupid enough to buy coffers in bulk at their peak price and was not rewarded for my stupidity!”

You really seem to missing the point here, A.net. This was a quality of life fix so people didn’t accidentally target things while right clicking and moving their camera. Interacting with objects has nothing to do with this.

Take the orb in Spirit Watch for example. Your teammate drops it when he goes down. If you go to pick it up with F, you’ll res him. However you COULD have right clicked the orb directly and picked it up. Now you have to target the orb, and hit F. Or double left-click, which runs the risk of targeting something else. One action becomes two.

Another example: dead enemy at a Temple buff. Your friend says hes going for the stomp, and you need that stillness/tranq fast. Can’t right click the buff anymore, and if you hit F, youll stomp. Now you have to again target the buff, and hit F or double click. One action becomes two.

No it’s not the end of the world, but this is the opposite of a “qualify of life” improvement. Disable right click targeting/attacking, but leave interact alone. Why is this so difficult =/

The Flame and Frost story arc was not anything to write home about (in fact, it was shallow and boring for most of the stretch there), but at least it ended with a bang. The Molten Facility was a great dungeon, ripe with the kind of mechanics this game should have.

It’s not that Null is terrible on paper, because at least the mechanics are attempted. But the tuning is terrible and his arena is poorly thought out and easily exploitable. Overall, I feel like this was a huge step back after finally feeling like the Living Story content might actually become meaningful.

This thread makes me feel a lot better. Clearly it’s a common issue, and likely not our fault but a problem with the game itself. Hopefully they recognize this and address it.

They have a clue, you just have an unusual problem.

Remember support cant actually SEE your computer and fix it themselves, they can only provide guidance on what the problem could be.

As far as nvd3dum.dll errors that points to a video driver issue, so what they asked you to do is completely reasonable.

@op In all your crash reports you are getting a c0000005 error, which is an access violation. Various things are triggering it and either this means you have a faulty/corrupted driver or faulty/corrupted system files.

To run system file checker:
open an administrative command prompt
(windows vista/7 click start type cmd in the search box, then right click it and run as administrator)
type sfc /scannow and press enter
Wait for the scan to complete, notice if it completed successfully. If it gives a message stating that it found corrupt files but could not fix them you need to reinstall your operating system. If it found corrupt files and successfully fixed them restart your computer.

At least youre suggesting things I haven’t heard before. I appreciate it, but no dice.

It’s not a memory error. Support ticket had me prime95, Memtest, swap out, etc. Didn’t do jack and everything is solid as a rock.

As for what Ashley suggested: the guy posted a log with 44 errors… and ntdll.dll shows up a whole two times. My errors don’t say ntdll.dll, but occasionally I get nvd3dum.dll as the fault. I think they had me driver sweeper my drivers half a dozen times in response, which also did nothing. I don’t think they have a clue.

Same problem. Similar error messages and uptime. It’s only been happening the last few months, maybe since 2-3 patches ago. I changed nothing and the game ran awesomely before that all the way back to the press betas which I was a part of.

I went through a lengthy support ticket with A.Net and they eventually gave up on me. They suggested mostly nonsense like different driver versions, turning off certain programs, etc. Eventually they told me to reformat windows because nothing they suggested worked (lol..). If you figure it out I’d definitely be interested in knowing the solution. My most common crash message attached below. Good luck.

They should just make it like WoW arena’s only taking records of actual tourney teams with names on it and not pugs or inviting friends for fun.

That would be great, but people in this game want to solo queue for some reason. Don’t ask me why, because the thought of explicitly queuing for a PUG and then complaining about the competitiveness of the players on your team is asinine to me.

Forget Esports- Matchmaking is still awful.

I for one am thankful that ranks have zero impact on matchmaking. sPvP had almost no redeeming qualities before leaderboards/spectator/custom arena, and it wasn’t worth playing. Now that it is here, why should I be matched lower than a bunch of MLG tryhards because they forced themself into an undesirable grind (whilst probably complaining about it the whole way)?

Newsflash: if you’re matched with people who are terrible, one of two things happen:
-You’re matched up against a team with an equal amount of terrible and duke it out.
-Or, if the player pool is limited, you may be matched up unevenly. Luckily Glicko takes care of that 100% and you lose very little rating if youre matched against a vastly superior team (or win very few points for beating a vastly inferior team). Ever wonder why other bads on the forum complain about going 3-1 and losing rank? That’s why.

Similar to whatever lava effect is at the entrance to CoF, or in the Lava Fractal. Insta-FPS drop if you happen to be facing the mystery texture/spot.

Personally, my FPS is cut in half when this happens.. and I’m talking with a 3570k and a GTX680. Somewhat concerning as the CoF/Lava spots have been common knowledge since launch and were never fixed, don’t let it spread!

Not auto targeting, auto-facing. The thing that turns you around automatically if somebody dodges behind you while youre attacking. I honestly cannot think of a more scrub-friendly feature that could possibly exist.

If you’re moving and use an attack when an enemy dodges/moves behind you: you miss, and the ability is put on cooldown as it should be. If you’re standing still or rooted to the ground for the ability (sup 100 blades/Blurred Frenzy), you will automatically turn around to face your target and hammer away.

That is ridiculously absurd and needs to go.

Sometimes it’s necessary to bait the enemy away from what your target actually is. I will routinely run into 3+ people at mid with my Guardian, knowing that the rest of my team is about to push back point/stillness/etc.

…considering that the log already had the same error crashes with that driver version, what do you think? Of course it didn’t work, and they closed it after my reply stating such without responding again.

Well that’s pretty cool. I open a ticket for this and attach the log showing all the driver versions I’ve tried (crash log shows 320.00, 314.22, and 310.90 in the last week alone -.-), and the guy tells me to use 314.22, gives me a link to download it, then closes the ticket.

I dont actually get the message that the game crashed, but the game freezes and ArenaNet.log still posts the error. I usually have to ctrl-shift-esc and cancel the process. Here is the error:

It’s not September anymore man, these kind of posts don’t fly. Mesmers pale in comparison to Eles, Guardians, Eng, and Rangers in sPvP. They’re not bad, but they’re not even close to top tier in this meta.

I resolved those crashes by reverting my drivers to an older version. I noticed the log showed the problems began with drivers 314.22. Went back to 310.90 and havent seen it since.

I’ll ignore the fact that you’re currently ranked #150, and that only checking 20 ranks above you is asinine for obvious reasons. However, allow me to explain the incredible ignorance displayed in your first post.

In my experience a loss has a disproportional impact on your rankings.
If you have an even record against what ought to be considered worthy opponents you`ll end up lower on the leaderboard than when you started. My particular anecdote involves my “team” (we play voipless on and off with a fair degree of success) against a top50 pug. We narrowly won the first match and got unceremoniously escorted off the map in the second, and I ended up losing about 20 ranks.

I’m glad “your experience” can identity exactly how the rating system is supposed to work, even if your 1337 haXXorz brain can’t manage to realize that its working as intended. Two perfectly identical teams are only perfectly identical for their first matchup. Assuming 100% equal rating, the winning team will win the exact amount of points the losing team lost. If they face eachother again, guess what.. their ratings are no longer equal. And if the team who won the first match now loses, they lost to a team that is rated lower than them, so naturally they will lose more points than they won when they faced off the first time and end up lower than they started.

Maybe now you can understand why anyone with comprehension of the rating system laughed out loud at your post, especially the part where you had the audacity to call somebody else pompous.

One last thing, it’s Elo not ELO. You know, named after Arpad Elo? Your pompous tone is grossly misplaced especially since the mathematical workings of anet’s system are a mystery – though glicko would be a good guess.

This is exactly the kind of ignorance I’m talking about. You can tell by the first few sentences that this person has no clue how the ratings work.

Not to mention, trying to benchmark “20 ranks” as if all the other players around you aren’t playing the same way you are. You lost 20 ranks you must have lost rating, it couldnt possibly be that someone else played games and leapfrogged you? Nope, system is flawed.

Considering the number of people on the leaderboards with like 10-20 games played, I’d say that is a fairly ignorant assumption. The #10 on the NA leaderboard right now has 13 games played.

Not only that, do you even KNOW how ELO works? Playing with lower ranked players will lower your teams overall rating. A lower rated team loses less points on a loss than a higher rated one, especially when matched up with a full premade when they’re totally outclassed. That’s what the ratings are for.

Newsflash regarding ranks: this queue and the leaderboard was the first decent thing they added to sPvP since launch, maps aside. Most people don’t bother grinding through something that is terrible, and those same people don’t exactly look at someone with a badge-of-grinding (high rank) as anything special. And judging by your performance in the game shown in your screenshot and your lack of presence on the leaderboard, I don’t think you’re one to talk.

I like how the OP blames his teammates as the player with the lowest score in the game, with a whole one capture and 0’s across the board.

Seriously? When will people realize that rank is completely insignificant and has nothing to do with matchmaking? Since when does ones motivation to grind hotjoins become indicative of ones skill level? Are people just really THAT ignorant to how glicko/ELO ranking works?

Almost always the same message, but the memory address varies.

I will attach my ArenaNet.log as well, but there is a lot of junk in there dating back to the beta days. Obviously the issue I am referring to will be found all the way at the bottom of the log. There are at least a dozen of these crashes between 4/15 and 4/19.

If you read the leaderboard FAQ it states that leaving a game mid-game will result in a loss on the leaderboard.

The FAQ is wrong. And considering that everyone has pointed out that it is wrong and nothing has been done, I’d wager it is a flat out lie.

Or, much more likely, a high rank on the winning team was on a losing streak… and a low rank on the losing team has been winning.

It amazes me that so many people want to pretend they play competitively, yet have no idea how an ELO system works.

An average player can lose 10 times in a row to the best team in the world, and if you manage to beat them on the 11th try you could end up higher than where you started. Win/loss is completely insignificant if you were outclassed on all your losses, or played above your head in all your wins.

This can be pretty much proven with the guy on the NA ladder who is 104-1 and only ranked 680th+

If anything that is proof of exactly what I said: you do not take a loss when you leave.

The only reason people can even claim you take a rating hit is because it is invisible (for no reason). Could you be taking a rating hit? Maybe, and I said that too. But as for the part you can see, the win/loss, it does not happen the way Johnathan Sharp says it does. You leave, you do not take a loss. 100% confirmable, try it.

Take a loss? Not on their character sheet they don’t. And considering my character sheet matched what is on the leaderboard, I’d have to say you are 100% incorrect.

Can’t comment on the rating hit since its still invisible for no good reason whatsoever.
