It depends upon when you transferred last week. Did you transfer before or after reset?
Traitor.
On a serious note, when did you transfer?
Yep. I run 6/6/0/0/2 with grenades and rifle in PvE. The reason is because usually the NPCs get loaded up with a ton of conditions from everyone else, making Modified Ammunition worth the cost.
I would love to see an Anet guild GvG hahahahaha
Who would drive them?
it tends to act as a beacon that draws the enemy in like moths to a light bulb.
Can I use you as bait for my evil plans of domination?
Monkey Shinez still there? If you’re going in that direction, I must name Mez U Up. First ran into him on Fort Aspenwood.
Nothing more annoying than trying to kite and some kitten is blocking your exit behind you. I’ve suggested collision myself as a way to reduce zerging. Yet I don’t know if it would really work. TESO has collision and still has zergs.
The only analysis that matters is that leagues don’t work. Not when glicko can’t adjust to pre-season server transfers fast enough for accurate seeding. Not when wvw has a scoring system designed for teams of roughly equal size.
This is really disconcerting. The guild ui is showing my account as last logged in 43 minutes ago and I haven’t logged into the game in over 24 hours! This is the second time. The first time I changed my password, thinking my account was hacked. Is the guild ui picking up logins to this website or something?
Yep I’m a thief. And this isn’t rock paper scissors, so one class shouldn’t be able to insta-kill another just because of class choice.
Yep I’m a thief… one class shouldn’t be able to insta-kill another
Just let that sit for a minute.
Nice quoting, bro.
Think we need Grouch to add this to his “New to PvP” sticky under guides.
What size? EV on Fort Aspenwood runs about 5. There’s also a guild called Lone on FA for roamers.
It’s disheartening to see how many people seem to think this would be a good idea.
There are a lot of much better ways to fix the imbalance issues but who ever said life is suppose to be fair anyways? It’s almost like some of you all never really had the chance to play WvW the way it was meant to be.
I have the feeling a lot of people who never had the experience of world oriented communities in MMO’s before came to this game and made community building more difficult by their blind ignorance of what it is or could be. Not going to defend ANET and say they didn’t make matters 10X worse with the early guesting fail and free transfer world hopping precedent but the players were the ones who decided winning was everything (even before there were any temptation of rewards for it!) and stacking worlds full to the gills was the only way to play.
Jade Quarry has often times been a bandwagon destination and yet manged to keep a core sense of community going through it all simply because a lot of smaller loyalist WvW oriented guilds decided to make it home from day one. PvE mega-servers are already doing enough damage to my enjoyment of the game and I tend to avoid EotM so I know exactly what would happen if a similar mechanic were introduced to WvW. There are already plenty of games with PvP that work that way so play one of those instead of trying to bring GW2 down to that level of meaningless combat for purely personal glory.
Well, when you’re in T1; your server is almost constantly full, your teams are almost always of roughly equal size, your teams almost always are giving their best effort. It is because there is no higher tier above yours for people to stack into. So you experience matches that are close in score much more frequently than servers in other tiers, “the way WvW was meant”. It does happen sometimes in lower tiers, but not as often. And I’m confident that players will agree with me when I say that close matches are the most fun and contribute the most to WvW community building.
This isn’t life. This is a game. Games normally provide level playing fields. WvW doesn’t usually provide that, unless you stack into T1. You know there’s something wrong with the game mode when all you have to do is go one tier below yours to find server communities that decided a long time ago to not play WvW “the way it was meant”.
Blackgate is on top because they have more people.
Mesmer… right when the engi poops out healing turret, interrupt! Knock him back with that greatsword. Make him mess up his heal rotation then burst.
Megaserver would not kill WvW because the majority of WvW players already achieve the megaserver effect with stacking into the higher tiers. The only people who would get burned by this are the minority of WvW players who enjoy smaller scale WvW fights.
I never thought I’d ever see such a post. Not sure if troll…
The easy solution is don’t play arena deathmatch.
Keep this on the first page.
Keep this on the first page.
Nothing wrong with that.
I wish Yaks and SBI would help us double team HoD more…
I’m all for double teaming HoD
Let’s do eeeeeeeeeeet.
LOL I see it now… tPvP match and one person quits one of the teams… What to do? Quick! Buy another player! It’s fine. It’s strategy. /sarcasm
Prysin,
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL…. coming from a former TC member. Don’t you get it yet that people are sick and tired of playing that kind of game? With a scoring system designed for teams of equal size? That’s what all these posts are about. Players are sick and tired of it.And at the same time you manage to completely belittle the efforts of people on other servers not blessed to be the unofficial RP server who have spent a good part of the last 1.5 years doing exactly what you say, trying to “gather up” or “coordinate effort differently” or “pushing harder” or “buying a guild or two”. Sick and tired of it…
nice try. I started playing in EU, and played ther for over a year. Then i moved to NA in hopes of learning some new tricks. It was fun, until some “wise heads” tried to conspire together to manipulate the scoring system in an effort to make BG lose. guess what? IT FAILED. So i jumped ship before it all crashed and burned, and went back to EU.
Less tears, still some drama, but atleast the fight’s were good and i didnt have to play according to 12 different timezones to find activity throughout the day.
I’m not talking about you. None of what you wrote changes that people on servers not blessed to be on a top tier server have tried exactly what you suggest for quite a long time and are sick and tired of that kind of game, especially when free transfers have a much more immediate effect. When one of the top tier servers collapse, where do the people go? History has shown they certainly don’t go to a server in a lower tier that has greater coverage gaps than higher tier servers.
PPT is a scoring system meant for teams of equal sizes. People want to play the game, not spend time doing work to recruit or buy guilds.
About a month ago there was a CDI on the subject of leagues, ladders, and seasons in PvP. You should be able to look it up via the CDI master sticky.
Read it!
“new to arenas and asked for advice”
That’s the kind of beginner who can learn and is worth teaching.
Tell pve heros to come to this forum and read the guides.

Not sure I’m gonna find it, but I did find the video I had in mind.

Yes, this needs a bump. Tell pve heros to read these guides on the gw2 forum instead of insulting them.

There’s a post somewhere in this forum that really really really needs to be stickied. It contains a video of some rotation for one of the maps. Lemme see if I can’t dig it up…
This would be a horrible idea. Server pride is more important in WvW than anywhere else in the game.
Not really, not when there’s mass transfers. That isn’t to say there isn’t server pride, just to say that in the larger picture, it isn’t as important. Mass transfers create the same effect as megaserver tbh. If there were no servers and teams were based on some other arbitrary division, like colors in EOTM, people would put their pride into those divisions too.
In conquest mode sPvP, matches are supposed to be played by teams of equal size with normalized gear. One only has to look at what happens in an sPvP match when one team has someone dc or afk to understand the inherent flaw of applying a similar scoring system to a game mode played by teams of unequal size.
What’s the difference anyway? People already stack onto the top tier or bandwagon servers, creating the same effect.
Gates,
I need you to drop another crate on my head. LOLOLOLOLOLOL
It’s current match and next match. Should’ve transferred on a Thursday.
The Swiss style match ups are nothing more than what the Glicko-2 rating does, indicate a server’s active WvW population. Abolishing leagues won’t do anything other than be a faster way for servers to settle into their population ranks after the mass transfers because, for example, HoD would not be prevented from fighting against DB or Maguuma and SoR would be able to fight Bronze league servers.

Did you do damage to the Risen Priest?
Your friend is on a different home server than you. The influence and upgrades are separated. Anet suggests this will no longer be the case “later”, like maybe in December.
This is a stupid topic because the toxic attitude is on both sides yet makes it seem like only the veterans are to blame. I was in a 3v2 hotjoin match testing out a new build yesterday when some rank 2 on the higher numbered team started the toxic mapchat comments when I told another player I’m not going to play in an outnumbered hotjoin match seriously. As if I owed the guy my best effort in such a match…
Anet should give handicaps to higher tier servers like in golf.
When I’ve been clicking “Play Now” I either get dumped in one of the “full” 5v5 arenas to spectate, which I don’t want to do, or I get dumped in someone’s custom arena.
Is that the new default build?
“The meta is changing and I don’t like it! My build doesn’t own anymore! Please nerf the other guy!”
This thread. Much win.
Would watch again.
The only reason I want to play hotjoin is to try out some new builds and to avoid the rank 2 players entering solo arena queue. But yea, it’s now hard to find an open server.
No armorer at Vigil keep, just the weapons trader.
And while you’re at it, please put a bank in the heart of the mists.
There was a bug that prematurely built everything in the queue. You should see those upgrades you had queued already built. The latest patch fixed it.
LOL @ these answers.
No wait, can I change my answer? Most of your party isn’t using food or wrench. That’s pretty wrong.
JQ had already broken in from another gate. Nope, nothing “wrong” with that.
