As a PvP player, I hate the fact that ESO forces you to grind out ten levels in PvE, running long distances between NPCs for linear quest dialogs of rehashed Oblivion storylines, before you can start the PvP part.
That said, the PvP part is fun in a different way from GW2. The combat feels more like FPS than MMO. They do some things better than GW2 and GW2 does some things better than TESO.
FA also has a lot of people that started on FA, transferred to other servers, and eventually came back to FA.
I like how castle outer walls in ESO have windows. That must be pretty strong glass.
Isn’t ESO the game, were you can get snared and stunned without a chance to break it? Sounds pretty kittened up for me, I’m not telling you to stay with GW2, I’ll switch to another game as soon as possible, but I don’t think ESO is a good option for that.
You can break Stuns/Knockdowns/Mezzes via Pressing Both Mouse Buttons, It’ll use half your Stamina but it’ll break you out of the CC and make you immune to it for 5 Seconds
Roots you can Dodge out of it (also uses Stamina)
Snares though require a Purge ability (there is a few you can pickup)
See? No one knows this though. Can’t tell you how many I killed by just immob/snaring them… Much hilarity.
T2 pretty much like that too.
ESO doesn’t have any sort of structured PvP game mode. Why bring it up in a thread about spvp?
Did you see my post on the Ladders CDI by chance?
Should one person be able to keep an objective contested?
Yes.
It alerts defenders that the objective is under attack so that one person cannot keep attacking a gate for a very very very long time until the gate is down.
Proposal Overview
Provide better player statistics on the statistics ui
Goal of Proposal
Help players improve by giving them the data that allows them to see where they need improvement.
Proposal Functionality
The PvP statistics ui only really shows total, team, and solo matches won/loss. That doesn’t help a player figure out stuff like their average match score statistics like kill/skirmisher count, objective caps, revivals, etc. When I think of player statistics, I think of stuff like hockey’s plus/minus, baseball’s batting average, etc. Ranked and hotjoin matches should probably be separated onto two different stats tabs.
Associated Risks
There is a risk of gaming the hidden MMR if the exposed statistics are used in calculating a player’s MMR. That isn’t the intent of this. There must be some way to provide such information to a player to help them improve without putting the hidden MMR ranking system at such risk.
I played mostly WvW until recently. I had a smallish stack of glory boosters that I finished using. So no, I had no idea how many people were receiving as rewards, which is why I asked. I can see how they’d stack up, especially if they were not used constantly.
Well, Anet gave burning to necro in the form of engineer copy skill Dhuumfire. Who knows?
So long ago…
“Automated Response trait: Grants immunity to conditions when the inflictor has over 100% duration.”
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-March-26-2013/first
I remember the confusion over this patch note. No one understood what this meant. There is a thread buried in this sub-forum about it and I’m pretty certain a dev had responded on it. The trait was bugged where if the condition duration was, say, 110%, the duration was reduced by 100% and the engineer would still get conditions with 10% duration. The March 26th patch made it so that someone could still have 110% condition duration, but it would still not apply to an engineer below 25% health with AR. This is what I meant. No condition duration can go above 100% against AR.

Why did ppl stack boosters in the first place?
Basically, you can’t nerf the cc skills on a class that has poor access to stability without affecting it’s viability in all builds, which is why people who actually play engineer suggest changes to the AR trait.
Yea, coglin is correct. The condition duration is reduced by 100% and that’s why the opponent sees “Immune”. It used to be that some opponents had a condi duration of over 100% and AR would reduce them by only 100% and no more so you’d still take condi damage. Anet released a patch around last summer that addressed that bug. No condi-duration can go above 100% now so AR correctly makes you immune to new condis. Confusing? Absolutely.
Malchior,
The community will berate them either way.
Also look on this forum at video guides the experienced pvpers have put together. They’re great sources of information!
I never saw any reference to the March 18th patch as “feature” or “maintenance”. Since the glory system is being replaced on March 18th, I can see how that would be construed as a “feature”.
Tome of Knowledge is also now available for some number of those Living Story tokens atm, so I’m going to assume there will be ways to purchase Tome of Knowledge from PvP without glory.
I’m in agreement with Terrahero. I don’t understand the point of this topic. Engineer isn’t the only profession that can stealth. Any class can attack from stealth. Entire zergs use Mesmer veil or mass invisibility and attack from stealth.
Did you use AR?
There’s nothing new about this kind of build. The meta changed around it that only has people qq-ing now about it.
mesmer hate=nerfed every patch
Ranger=nerfed every patch
ele hate=nerfed beyond belief
thief hate=nerfed every patch
necromancer hate=nerfed every patch
guardian hate=massive health nerf straight out of beta
warrior hate=buffed once, nerfed ever more after.Enjoy your day in the sun. Like all other professions that have risen, it is not long before the fall comes. History tells us that it will be nerfed more than it was ever buffed..the same as every other class.
Short memory. Engineer already has been nerfed hard. Remember 100nades? This is the 2nd day in the sun.
So, this is what happens during lunch breaks here…
Hugh asked our map artist Darrin to photoshop Chap after he saw the post. Priceless!
Darrin is the man.
Resistance is futile!!!
TC, very doubtful you will be “bouncing around” at this point. Good luck in T1.
I don’t get as much time to play as I used to, but when I do play, those are the specs I gravitate towards.
Must… resist… “Most Interesting Man in the World” jokes…
- Do we need to put equipped armor in the locker?
- If cultural/dungeon/gemstore/achivement skins in PvP become usable in PvE does the same PvE gear become usable in PvP? (I purchased the Zodiac armor last night and converted it to PvP. Previous purchases were used for PvE and I’m hoping I’ll be able to use them in PvP after this change.)
FA matches up lately with SoS, Maguuma, and TC, although with SoR dropping TC will probably stay firmly T1 and FA will probably face DB and SBI for at least a week.
If you play WvW for the fights, then consider Fort Aspenwood as your new home. OCX/SEA/EU times are guaranteed fights.
If you play WvW for the PPT, also consider Fort Aspenwood as your new home. Regardless of rumors about being for the fights, FA has always had a healthy and lively mix and respect for both playstyles. That’s been FA’s key to success as one of the most stable servers over the past year.
Oh thank god!!!!
Have fun in Tier 1!
don’t bother explaining it, 1 knock back is all you need to be called a decap engineer now days, ive been playing HGH zerker and im still apparently a decap engineer even though my only knock back is from the rifle.
Knockback not even needed. Running a non-decap engi build, some guy accused me of being decap because he thought I was using Bombkit. I guess he mistook Acid Bomb… Ah, hotjoin.
I want to emphasize that decap is not a new kind of build. It’s just that the meta has changed around it and made it more prominent.
Here is an engi bunker build for tPvP that a fellow NERF member used last spring/summer, one of the builds he used to get his Champ Genius title. It has many of the same features as decap engi.

Everyone is the inventor of this build. A guy on my server has been playing this build with AR for 8 months.
Yes. That’s the wonderful thing about flavor of the month builds :-)
I want a siege tower that can be built right at a wall so we can get up on it and fight. Lol
“> People to follow me when I command. "
O_o
I guess I have just never seen this tag up or something. Good luck wherever you go.
I’ve been playing a bunker guardian in PvP and I love when I see someone try decap engi. I can almost see the surprise on their face when they drop Big Ol Bomb and it doesn’t launch me while I proceed to knock them out of the point and immob them. They run back in and I knock them out and immob them again with my other weapon set. Yes, two can play at this game. AR? Sorry, AR doesn’t help you against chained CC. Hammer ring a ding ding!
(Note: the majority of decap engis seem to be noobs to engineer. Once in awhile I come across someone who actually knows what they are doing.)

Well, wait a minute. Warriors start with 0 adrenaline, have to build it up, and it decays when out of a fight so the comparison falls a bit flat. I agree though that LF is harder to build up initially, especially for PvP matches. It would be nice to have a skill that fills LF, akin to Healing Surge.
I hope they make it so everything you currently own in PvE and PvP show up as a skin in PvP. The same issue exists for other skins like for one-time achievements like Gas Mask skin.
Yes please. It doesn’t just happen with porting abilities. It happens to me quite often when I get CC’d while in necro DS. I’d say it happens on any class when you get CC’d. Near impossible in the middle of a fight to type /sit before dying.
Is that the Quip effect for KR?
bump
Everyone paid the same amount for gem store skins yet people who used them for PvP will now have basically two skins while those who used them for PvE will only have one or what?
“kitrefined”
Friend of mine replaces Speedy Kits with Kit Refinement when running with a guild group sharing swiftness boon.
OK now correct me if I’m wrong, but it is impossible to have trinkets like that. You’d need, for example, a defensive ring to obtain the +5 toughness infusion, yet ascended rings are unique meaning that you can only slot one defensive and one offensive and/or a utility ring. You can’t wear two of the same ring. Unfortunately the build editor doesn’t prevent you from making this mistake. But, I don’t do FOTM, getting my trinkets using laurels or guild commendations so I’m not sure if there are different defensive rings available in FOTM.
Anyone remember Engineer class in Hellgate: London? It had mobile drones and was mostly a ranged class.
Engineer in Torchlight II also has mobile drones.
Went to combo stealth with a smoke field…. until a troll ranger who wasn’t on voice comms with us thought they’d be helpful by dropping a water field on us just at the same moment we started blasting. Thanks, ranger.
Everyone seems to have a variation on this build and they don’t always include AR. So I’m hopeful that whatever changes are in store will nerf the meta that created decap engi rather than any specific thing on engi (along with hambow warrior, etc.) since, let’s be honest, it was the meta that created it.
Sylvari need the Fumigate. Wood boring beetles are a real pest.
Best qq post about engi.
I think we need a generic “x profession is ruining pvp” thread.
