Not sure why you threw WvW in the title.

I personally like playing with kits. Swapping from weapon to kit to weapon to another kit makes play more interesting.

I run a power build in WvW. The reason probably rifle engineer is rare there is due to the fact that pistol/shield is the best weapon set for group synergy. It is what I use.

Haha, the other day someone was asking about my sPvP build after we had good fights. When he found out it didn’t have grenades he was disappointed; was looking for a grenade build. :p

Then you found a bad group.

Watch Koroshi play engineer. He used to play thief. He left the game for awhile and now is back; is making an engineer guide even.

Engis are among the hardest class to master but also one of the strongest duelist classes.

Didn’t speak about mastering :p , just playing… Mastering any class is hard… But it is quite easy to run around, dropping bombs, healing turrets/overcharge/explosion, boots when needed to get some distance, camera turned back to dodge worst attacks, keep dropping bombs/using turrets… “stupid” foes will just keep following you, walking on your bombs :rolleyes: easy play, but no mastery involved

Pretty much every class have such easy modes – they allow to get by, but are not great…
Mastering a class… is always another story.

A few months ago no one would have said this about engineer. I blame the rocket boot fix.

For PvE, probably not. For WvW, yes, exactly because you can’t expect balance. Stabilized Armor (10 in Inventions) is one of the best mitigation traits against the hammer meta.

You must hit like a wet noodle.

If you look up the healing coefficient for your group heal skills, guardian does much better without sacrificing as much.

Gates plays mostly PvP and more than a few of the things he says won’t apply in WvW or PvE. Please talk the same thing before drawing conclusions. He says a lot of good stuff about PvP. I wouldn’t run Power Shoes in PvP.

Yea, I use Transmute + Healing Turret + Super Elixir plus all the regen and typically do fine. Don’t forget Automated Medical Response which resets Healing Turret.

Most people play only for a few hours. :p

My god, I use the Toughness → Power trait sometimes!

Elixir Infused Bombs heals for more than that. I got up to 425 a bomb, with regen throw in can get like 1k h per sec. Of course I’m talking about in WvW and not PvP, though.

Backing up what Bloodgruve wrote, I’d recommend a turret or two and Rocket Boots with the rifle as well. A friend ran something similar and did rather well with it.

Transfer to a lower tier. Seriously. No, really.

I really don’t understand the argument about mimicking another profession’s elite. It isn’t the only skill that mimics a skill (or even effect) from another profession, let alone all the shared traits across different professions (Incendiary Powder/Dhuumfire). It also fits thematically with the engineer as a jack of all trades.

There could be better arguments against Elixir X.

I play around others that share the swiftness boon. The 25% is plenty good for those moments when the boon wears off and I’m waiting for another share without burdening the group to have to wait for everyone. And I’ve never much felt the need to be much faster in combat.

I’ll say it again, TC just ain’t the same without Jayne.

Which classes do you play?

I’m really glad they made this change because I play WvW a lot and no longer feel a real need to rely upon Speedy Kits.

Engineer kits tend to scale very well with power but also happen to apply a lot of conditions. You could really go either way.

Yep, SIC would be interested in you if you got a microphone. Our raids are M-F 9pm server. If you consider a lower tier, Lost on BP is good too.
