Just got on CDBL in WvW. As soon as I entered and proceeded to move forward (by pressing and holding a direction key down), my toon stopped. I had to re-press the forward button to start again. It stopped again soon after. Then it’s fine and it moves normally as it did before today’s patch. Every once in awhile it bugs out again. I have to keep re-pressing a direction key to move again.

Got caught in binding roots. I could not do ANYTHING. Could not attack the roots with auto-attack even. My toon wiggled inside the roots like toons do with that waypoint bug.

This is getting unplayable.

ooOOOooo, why don’t they just make them available to buy with badges then?

Oh yea, tPvP players need toxic achievements, drops, and rewards too. Put toxics in tPvP!

Let’s take this idea to the logical extreme to show the absurdity.

LOL the WvW-focused players I know hate Toxics in WvW. If we wanted that stuff, we go to PvE.

And what point would that be, Funk, other than to be non-constructive?

Look instead at the function of content within each game mode, as I am. What purpose do Toxics in WvW serve? I can argue that arrow carts are not in PvE because they serve no purpose there. Neither are keeps, supply dolyaks, etc. The only time you find siege in PvE is for a personal story where it serves as part of the narrative or as part of a dynamic event where, again, it serves as part of the event narrative. And there’s a PvP map where siege exists because it also serves a purpose in that map.

On the other hand, what purpose do Toxics in WvW serve? All they do is pull PvE-ers into WvW who have little interest in WvW beyond that. So why not put Toxics in tPvP to pull more PvE-ers into tPvP? /sarcasm Same logic, no?

Over time you develop a sense for this. Location can indeed be an indication, yet the other night two of us came across a 1v1 by the windmill and it was NOT a consensual duel. We asked first and there was no response. We got a clue when the red player proceeded to stomp our teammate. Duelists usually don’t stomp. Needless to say, we saved the day before the stomp and the teammate said thank you.

So why is it in WvW?

We would have probably survived that pinch you pulled out with ATK to help you out if it wouldn’t have been for our nerf friends trolling us with glue bombs and supply crates as we tried to make our way north out of the ruins. Either way good fights, we had fun trying to take on superior numbers, as always.

Not any hard feelings here. It is only because I came from FA that I feel entitled to speak up about what I see is simply a hold over response from FA fighting larger servers. Then it was a necessity. In Silver league what is it? I could care less about other server blobs.

Most of us have been(really!)…the only exception was when it was blob vs blob.

Or when SIC needed zerging lolololol.

My comments aren’t anything other than an objective look at group size based on something measurable and rooted in game mechanics How many people does it take to burn down a T1 supply camp in roughly 30 seconds (before white swords pop)? How many does it take to burn down a T3 upgraded supply camp in 30 seconds? Both answers are in the range of 5-10. That’s the base “havoc” squad size. It is the optimal group size for performing those tasks. Or how many people does it take to build a superior ram, or superior cata to go ninja a paper tower, etc.?

When I say “small” I’m avoiding relative and subjective descriptions like RAM being small because they are smaller than say RET.

Getting above 10 starts to do something else, perhaps open field or more specifically zerg-busting. How many rams does it take to burn down a paper gate in 30 seconds? How many people does it take to build those rams? When you have more people than it takes to accomplish a task is where a zerg starts.

Take an honest look at the recruitment threads, guys. ATK wants to grow to 20 man. RAM wants 25. WS? I dunno they field 6-10 a night yet want more and then I see them running together with like TUNE. It just happens because of the wvw population size of the servers we were fighting. SIC ran together/nearby with HOPE often enough when we were on FA.

All I’m saying is that in silver league it isn’t necessary to run together like that. You might need to for SBI, but not for the majority of servers you are going to face. All I hear from my FA peeps is how boring this match-up is. It is in your power to make it less boring.

Stawker, 15-man is not havoc. Havoc starts at 5-man and goes up to around 10 max. It doesn’t take more than 5 to burn down a supply camp under 30 seconds or ninja a tower. 15-man is start of zerg-busting group. You forget your old FA roots, the months we spent at rank 9 when 25 was considered a zerg. Now 25 is start of zerg-busting group and 15-man is havoc? Shows the long way we have come. Look at how many smaller FA guilds have recruitment messages and are looking to expand to 20. Blame the game mechanics and 5-target cap on AoE.

IKR?! Like those Scarlet minion events. Watching PvE players go down so fast in those events when there is no zerg around has me convinced that zerging originates from PvE.

Tyrion you are missing my point. It is only this silver league season that you’re going to have an easier time running as a 10-15 man group.

Moreover, look at your video closely. Look at the mini-map. Only a few clips I see in your video of you guys 10-15. The rest of the video it’s a ton of green dots running around you. You also have your tag up in a lot of the clips, drawing in more green dots to you.

Try the rest of this match-up running with no tag up. While FA is in silver league not having to face servers like TC is your chance to do this.

Oh man how deluded you are. FA’s small groups left the server. When FA people started talking about 15-man as havoc groups on our forum is when I just shook my head and laughed.

We have:

ATK, PVP, RAM, WS, and UM. BURN usually runs small, although some nights they are pretty deep.

MKN and JPN in SEA. Both very underrated.

Grats. You just named guilds that decided to stick it out on FA and continue to struggle to stay afloat in enemy blobs by trying to blob up with other larger guilds like APS. The fact remains that fighting larger population servers means everyone has to blob up or move. That’s why RAM merged into HOPE, was it not? Hard for small RAM to fight T1 blobs. Dropping to silver league certainly helped them yet don’t expect that to last when FA makes it back into gold and fights the zerg tier servers again.

The point is that in this match-up it isn’t necessary to run with the larger guilds. Take the tags down, run with your own guild only, tell the pugs to kitten off, go find the good fights and you might even stop being bored.

Hey don’t feel so bad. I waved to my old servermates while standing off to the side in a nw tower they had just took and they veiled into me because they know solo engi op. They’re just grumpy about this match-up. I would be too if most maps were draped in blue.

Essentially it seems like somewhere between T4 and T2 that small skill groups evaporate and zerging is the only acceptable play style. Not saying that’s a bad thing, truly! It’s just different.

Now you see it. Just the result of having a larger wvw population and going against other servers with larger populations.

Roaming on FABL after reset though has been pretty good since the bl remains blue enough that no zerg hangs out there. Good for mobile 5-man groups too.
