My signature weapon set is greatsword sword focus. Granted i can use all weapons like a master but gs sf feel special to me. Sucks how focus is right now though. My build is in the sig (still working on the guide)

also i have thought very hard about my solution many times before i myself was scammed. and there is not repercussions except stopping bad kitten speed run solo’rs from selling paths making tons of gold. and guess what thats not a big repercussion
2nd. this is a game not real life. yes life is hard and in alot of places the environment is not safe or nice
however seeing as this is a game and not real life then there should be a nice social environment free of scamming and other harsh behavior toxicating the social environment.

And anyway, how do you know they were selling it? Did you see it pop up on LFG? They could have just given it to a friend for free, so your solution on “banning selling” wouldn’t help. Removing kicking from the game is so “lol” that I won’t even address it.
Given that anet is not going to do what you suggest, you should consider other ways of making sure you don’t get scammed.
1) yes i did see a lfg up on fractal scale 49 which is the one we were doing. i saw that they were selling it. sadly i could not join before it was filled instantly
2)no it would not totally fix the issue. as yes people could pull of the same kitten and give it to a friend of someone they know.
however it would drastically reduce the amount of times this happens. as people just want the gold and dont really care if a friend of theirs wants the path. unless they are really close friends and are chatting during the time. so as you can see unless its a total troll who kicks. there would be none to very very very VERY little incentive to scam people.
I’m brought to my original advice. Always screen cap account names of pugs so you can report, and always open the dungeon yourself. That is literally all you need to do to prevent this. That’s it.

Practice safe pugging, every time.
people should not have to be scared of this from happening and have to take measures to prevent scams that were originally incentive by the fact that you can can sell a path which you can easily take from other people if you open the dungeon and have a accomplice.
i should be able to log in. open up a lfg and join a group with no worry that sometime down the road there will be a point before getting my rewards that someone will kick me and 1-2 other people. so that the other 2-3 that remained can sell the dungeon slots.

ive done over 700 fractals in my attempt to get a fractal 1h sword. i have not gotten a single fractal skin (and yes the majority are in the 30-50 range)
so yes im upset as what was supose to be another chance for a weapon i desired was taken away from me by a bunch of fricken scammers

Getting a fractal wep drop it “not necessary all that hard”. However getting the one you want is.
I’ve done over 500 fractals. I don’t know the exact number because after hitting 500 its impossible to tell unless you keep count. However judging from the fact that I finished that 500 fractal achievement over a 3 months ago I would say that I’ve done around 700 fractals in the 30-50 range. Sometimes 2 fractals aday but a most certain 49 or 50 everyday.
….I have not gotten a single fractal skin.
Can’t we just have a token system were I can exchange 10 -30 prestige fractal relics to a vendor for a fractal weapon. Maybe a requirement to purchase it such as a required reward lvl of 50.
That way I can trade some of my 200+ Pristine relics for all the skins I want.

I’ve probably done over 700 fractals. Hit 500 around 4 months ago. And have been doing fractals daily. Sometimes doing 2 runs( a 49-50 and a 39) every other day.
…..I have not gotten a single fractal weapon….and only 2 Acended chests (1 weapon stat I don’t use…..dire (I’m bersker -_- ), and 1 berserker chest box yay!)….but that’s it. Over 500 runs .most in the 49-50 range……and that’s all,I get?
BS rng reward systems are BS especially with drop rates this pathetic after recent patches.
There needs to be a way to limit the amount of BS grind if you are not lucky but persistent. This does not exist in fractals….and it needs to be there.
Anet said they would add fractal box’s in to the game at 51+….why it would not be 40-50 I don’t know. However even if this is in the game it would still be only rng….that’s BS
I don’t care if the drop rate is 99% or 0.00000000001% . There is always a chance that you will not get one no matter how persistant you are. That’s just how rng works.
And that is why alot of people have gotten sick of mmo’s with this. Gw2 promised I would not have to deal with this s***. But hay here we are. With anet breaking their word and failing miserably to improve fractal rewards proving that they cant be trusted to do what’s right for us as players even when we cant find a logical reason why they would do this kind of BS.
What needs to happen is this. A token reward system for fractals. THIS rewards persistence. Not rng.

Better yet remove it from random drop chance and make it a purchasable skin for pristine fractal relics…..make it 50-75 p relics…..I have done over 500 fractals in the 40s and up. NO FRACTAL WEAPON. Bs. I have tons of p relics……give them a use besides rings that we all got a year ago.
….what I want is for anet to fix their bugs…..particularly the drop rate for fractal weapons and accended armor that decreased. Rather than “increased” like anet said a few patches ago.
And make it so that it scales better as you go to higher fractal tiers 40+
Also I think that there should be 4 daily chests per fractal tier. 1 for each fractal when doing fractals.
1 for each fractal. Bonus chest for 1rst fractal,2nd fractal,3rd fractal,and bonus fractal
That or change it so instead of getting a random fractal weapon you get a fractal box at lvl50. Not at lvl 51+ WE want it NOW

The more I’ve thought about it, the more I wouldn’t want this to be channeled, but the aoe either needs to be bigger or the boon strip should be more noticable. People hardly even use it for the boon strip, so I would even be fine with keeping the damage the same if that gets raised to compensate, and just make it like mind spike so it does extra damage with no boons on the target.
I’ve always wanted it to have a better boon strip order…..removes 1swiftness before stability facepalm.
Although a interesting idea that i think would be fun Is instead of ripping the boon is corrupts it….so stability….turns to fear…..so much potential
I think corrupting boons should be solely a necro thing. Just like stripping them is ours.
The thing about mesmer is we use skills and abilities from all class’s. Whirling attack on our berserker is from war. Warden is ranger axe whirling attack. Ect. You can see this with our phantasms and a few other skills. So really having a weak version of necro’s corrupt boon (1 boon corrupted instead of 5 or 3) would be perfectly fine
The only reason those are fine is because they’re phantasms. They’re supposed to give the illusion of an ally coming to help us. Since Mind Stab doesn’t work in this way, I find it harder to explain really.
Actually it’s not just phantasms. Several of our utility skills mirror other class’s skills. Granted in some case’s they are weaker effects but they are still inspired By other class’s.
Additionally there are some skills we have that take after 2 class’s.

Additionally we as Mesmers being a mental class can steal enemy boons. As well as rip the. So why can’t we corrupt them?
Granted necro should be better at it in terms of number of boons corrupted and number of skills and traits with the corrupt boon effect.
Just as thief should be better at stealing boons then we are.
Corrupting a enemy boon actually fits the mesmer class. Think about it….we get in your head….find a lovely little boon you pride yourself on….then turn your strength in To your weakness. We can mess with your mind and make you lose your stability…….and even strike fear in you with your worst nightmares. Fits Mesmer perfectly I think.
It would fit “mind stab”…we stab our gs in to the ground and up in to your head…..how does that not make you afraid?

almost everything we have is single target. so yeah chaos storm is good but id like to have more aoe, so making ms a strong multitarget aoe would be great. if it was a stronger aoe i wouldnt mind it not being able to be cast on the move, but right now ms being stale and weak at the same time is not ideal. i do like the rest of our gs though. its one of my favorite weapons.
also chaos armor.. unnerf please. the nerf is ridiculous and made chaos armor kinda useless. but i agree a blastfinisher would be nice too.I actually don’t like the idea of mesmer having much “controllable aoe”.

(In my personal opinion the damage should increase by 10% per boon on the target. When fighting with gs we have a lot of trouble fighting tanky targets with tons of boons.
Ele’s, guardians, thiefs with consume ecto, and specific boon bountiful builds on all of the other class’s comes to mind)
Base damage with full zerker is like 500-1k. 1k-2k on crit. So I cant help but wonder what would happen if we got a 100%-150% damage ish increase resulting in something around 4k against a target with 10 or so boons. Would really change the feeling of weekness we have against those boon spammers.And if my idea of corrupting the boon removed were to come through?

mesmer is perfectly fine in all other areas in the game. small group large group ect. however when it comes down to 20+ zerging cluster ****’s….well…..we are not able to dps because our damage comes from something that is instantly destroyed in that situation. while if zerging was fixed and more spread out. we would be fine.
Ya i got kicked from a lvl 50 run around 2 weeks ago. looked up lfg and sure enough there was the same run going for 10 gold.
this is a serious issue. fractal rewards are crappy as is BUT are hard to do lvl 40+. thus this kind of BS in fractals or arah is unacceptable.
what needs to be done is simple.
make selling a dungeon slot a crime punished by being banned!

Also, lest everyone forget, iZerker hits an infinite amount of targets. It just has a strange hit pattern, but it hits much more than 5 people.
Just to nip this falsehood in the bud. The iZerker does 4 hits of damage, each being a 5 target aoe. The potential maximum number of targets it can hit is 20, but this will be incredibly rare as usually there’s a lot of overlap.
Actually I believe its 3 target Cleve aoe for each of the 4 hits
i see your points chaos, but i dont think a lightarmor class should be a duelist only. I think we should have the option to spec for aoe at least so we can also be viable in other gamemodes like wvwv raids! thats my only problem and frustration i have with my mes. i would love it otherwise, but the utilitybot role is sooo frustrating!
but yeah i mean mind stab is a joke the way it is right now. we cant cast it while moving and it deals like no dmg….seriously? i would like more interrupts on my mes, so it would be nice if ms could interrupt, but i still want it to be aoe. we got wayyy to many single target skills. i know many people love roaming and duels, well i like wvw and wvw raids so when i see a suggestion, i always try to think of a zergfight and ms as a real aoe could be really helpful.
I just had a long and huge post explaining my points that I was about to bring up. Buuuut then a hit a backspace by accident refreshing the page and all my work is gone so **** it. I’ll make this short.
I feel that mesmer is at a good place in every part of the game until you come down to zerging. And the real big reason we are useless is because our shatters and phantasms don’t hit unless we are point blank/ taking down a straggler… And the reason for this is simple: “stacking”. Stacking in my opinion is the most ridiculous mechanic a game like this can have. Especially in wvw.
I understand this is far fetched but if one day player characters were suddenly given barriers that stopped friendly players(not enemy players mind you) from running through or stacking on you wvw would be drastically changed as well as the simple idiotic strategy of “stack” would be destroyed allowing battles to consist of many small to medium skirmishes on a large battle field allowing us as Mesmers to actually attack and land our skills instead of our skills being nullified by a team of 50 enemy players stacking in to 1 place like a team of obito uchiha’s…..destroying our phantasms and shatter fodder instantly before they get a chance to hit. Additionally it would un-simplify wvw so people would have to think about many different things to win such a large scale battle instead of just the default “stcking” stratagy.
Just food for thought. But back to mind stab.
1) I don’t feel like aoe fits our class as we are duelists. Masters of single target domination and extermination and not the other way around. However interesting stuff like a grandmaster trait perhaps in inspiration that says "phantasms are invulnerable for the first attack when they are summoned Would be perfectly fine.
2) it don’t feel like a change like that would be good for gs. It just does not fit the weapon or that skill. Really it would just be like chaos storm or a weak Chanel’s aoe skill that a ele does instead of mind stab were you thrust your great-sword in to the ground for it to erupt from below destroying your foe. Really I feel like this skill has weight(in the animation…the effect and damage is face palm).

a great thread. tons of brainstorm potential.
although rather that improving or changing the functionality of traits to improve diversity i would rather suggest a change to how traits work in regards to minor traits to improve diversity.
what i mean is moving some traits in to lower minor traits. particularly weapon traits or other such traits. and for the ability to use minor traits in higher major trait tiers.
this would skyrocket build diversity based on what is placed in the minor trait sections.so for example in the dueling tree. lets say duelist discipline(pistol trait) was placed in the master minor tier. blade training(sword trait) was placed in the adept minor tier.
from just this alone you could perhaps trade critical infusion for blade training. and grab something else in the adept section. or run deceptive evasion in the master tier and duelist discipline in the master minor tier.Hmm what a nice approach. So you mean instead of minor being constant, do you propose them to be changeable?

yes in some way. altough the basic idea is for there to be options of the trait selected instead of a fixed trait. thus putting a new spin of diversity.
although for hierarchy balance i should assume that traits in the minor trait options should be available to be used in major trait sections. HOWEVER major trait options should not be usable within the minor trait sections.
although if that were to take place alot of traits need to be moved to the minor trait sections such as weapon skill traits so as too allow another choice and allow slightly more diversity with a trade off

I really don’t like the idea of a aoe channeled skill. I very much like how the skill functions as it is. It really has a unique feeling to it. You stab your great-sword in to the ground and the tip of the sword erupts from the ground of your targeted area damaging and slightly hindering your opponent giving you the advantage.
The problem though is that it does not feel like it hinders your opponent nor gives you a decent advantage and its damage is decent to sub par at best.
Resulting in this skill just being “meh” when we all know it should be a godly skill as our #3 of our great-sword.
I don’t think we as Mesmers should have much aoe and I like that. It is our weakness.
What needs to happen is to make this skill a decent to amazing skill with a few of these optional improvements
- skill is now a blast finisher
- increase damage base, or based on the situation(number of boons,number of conditions, ect)
- increase the number of boons removed, stolen, corrupted ect.
- steal the boon "giving us the advantage*
- send one condition we have to our foe(s)
- corrupt the boon(giving us the option to fear a target if the boon corrupted is stability)
As well as many other use’s depending on the boon corrupted “hindering our opponent”

Put simply what I want is for this skill to be something rather than “meh”.
I want our opponents to fear it. I want them to actually have to understand that when the mesmer goes to stab their great-sword in to the ground they better dodge.
Also I want it to remain as a skill shot. And for its rewards to increase based on the boons of the target(more damage if the target does not have a boon ect) and if we happen to hit more than one target( such as stealing multiple boons from multiple targets. 1 from each)

The big “legitimate” issue with Mesmers is mainly phantasm or illusion based play styles. Or mesmer play styles that don’t utilize their shatters because they can rely totally on their illusions to keep up their sustain with very little thought needed. The reason this is a legitimate concern is that the entire effectiveness is AI based…not player based. It’s the reason many players hate minion manner necro or spirit rangers ect. The reason is that you are not so much fighting the player as you are ai. And let’s face it, pve sucks in This game. There are other points such as strong sustain or defense in some areas or another (PU) that encourage idiotic play styles that just so happen to be the most effective.
Granted there will of course be illegitimate points on how the mesmer is no-skill easy, as well as with other class’s. And that’s fine let them wine as you smile behind your mask. However that does not mean there are no legitimate points for specific builds and play styles that are OP and or require no skill from their user to be effective, and you should keep this in mind when both judging the skill of another player or yourself and try and determine if they or you are winning because of your superior reaction time,intelligence, or creativity(skill). Or if its just that your build is superior enough that those quality’s no longer matter.
Granted you can play to win and ignore these. However that does not mean there will not be consequences. Mainly the creation of meta, and the destruction of viable diversity among a class. And of course the constant spam of your mail box.

yes. i found its very effective with mantra heal or mirror heal depending what you fighting of course. although it works just fine in turns of uptime with either feast so nothing to focus on in terms of heal choice.
remove the boon duration on signet of midnight and change it to +25% speed increase.
