I would argue that what needs to be done is changing the little blue fly pug zapper of a tag which only allows zerg mentality to something which allows strategy and allows the zerg to separate so as to take the most objectives with the least effort while still being controlled effectively by the commander. In other words a watered down feeling of a real time strategy game.
I have posted many threads
Regarding this. Though I intend to make a longer and more detailed thread. Perhaps in the next 2 weeks.
Over all looks good. Though I am actually disappointed about the so few support buffs coming to mesmer. In comparison to other professions mesmeris not Really up there with the support role as naturally as other professions. In order to Be as supportive an other professions we need to devote far more in to a specific build than most do.
I would hope that they not only increase the aoe of the mantras but maybe also increase the durations or improve the effects of some of them. The stability from mantra of concentration is a little underwhelming being only 4 seconds of stability when spamming it. Maybe buff it by 1 sec stability. So 3 seconds of stability per cast.
Unless mantra of stability can break allies out of stuns? In which case never mind . That by itself is amazing. And would a interesting support that the Mesmer could have.
Other than that I am a little underwhelmed with the upcoming Mesmer support buffs.
I would ask that you do something about the limitation of finishers that the mesmer has. Which ties directly in to support. Maybe add another finisher to great sword. Like a blast finisher to great sword 3?
……..first of all. What kind of shatter build do you want? There is mind wrack damage yes. Though there are also some condition confusion shatter builds.
……..btw don’t touch assassins…….its bad…….berserker is better
My answer totally depends on what type of build and mainly armor stats you are currently using.
Using berserker is alot harder of a playstyle to use then say knights(amazing). This is mainly because mesmer is moderately squishy and by putting most to all your stats (traits aside) in to non defensive attributes will result in you dieing much easier and more often when getting caught to many times. This ties directly in to skill as playing a glassy spec although will result in much more damage and burst will require you to use your defensive arsenal however small to their fullest.
Also I would very much want to know what weapons, styles, and specific aspects about the Mesmer you like? Unlike most professions Mesmer has tons of viable builds and weapons. Thus it is not what build is most effective. It’s about what type of play style you like and then forging from your imagination or knowledge you find on the Internet the perfect build for you.
Other than that good luck, and don’t forget to practice
(try and be creative in using skills in ways you never thought possible. Every time I hop on my Mesmer I always seam to find some new trick or combination that makes me smile)
Ya this specific build on warriors when using knights gear is kinda over powered in nearly all pvp situations.
This build is OP because
1)insane armor. Able to tank multiple people 1v? And barely get a scratch. Is absolute idiocracy when used in combo with the healing signet. (Only viable damage is condition when fighting it)
2)absolutely kitten kits damage in comparison to its survivability. There power, prec, and citical damage is high, and off the charts if they attack you when your stunned.
3) survivability besides armor. If the warrior is using the correct utility’s and off hand shield they will have tons of invulns and be very difficult to burst most of the time. This in combination with the already insane armor of 3.9k and absolutely idiotic mobility of the greatsword makes this build insanely hard to kill or catch. Even in a fight of 4v1 in your favor.
If you want to have any chance of killing this monster focus not on burst but sustain. So if you are a mesmer try and not shatter you phantasms as often. You will do much more sustained damage if you let your phantasms do the work.
Overall this build is by far the best warrior build out there for most situations mainly wvw roaming.
It has the best tank ability that the warrior can get (besides conditions).
Almost the best damage that a warrior can get.
It’s OP so don’t be surprised if they beat you if you are doing a melee regular damage build.
My advise for beating it is
1) stay ranged. AND OUT OF MELEE RANGE!!!!!.This type of war only has melee weapons. Also the warrior will switch to greatsword so as to use the mobility to catch up to you. At that point attack the war when he switches to greatsword for a quick burst. But get out of there before he switches to mace .
2)CONDITIONs!!!!!!! conditions kills this war very fast. This is because the war is putting all defence in to toughness and not vitality. The warrior will have some condition removal though so still be ready for a long fight.
And that’s about it. Really this build is the most OP warrior builds out there. It’s easy to use and yet SOOOOOO effective.
Any war that uses this and thinks their effectiveness is relative to their skill should be ashamed.
(edited by Chaos.3579)
tital states it all though to be more specific i would like
blink : make the utility skill be a leap finisher. really this skill is useless aside from mobility and stun break. if it was a leap finisher it would give this skill a nice use that can give a combat advantage aside from the stun break.
great sword 3 mind stab : make this skill a blast finiser
aside from that this skill i have to say is overall close to useless. yes it does give a nice small spike of damage. though other than thakittens not much to look at. the single boon ripped is flat out sad. yes it can have some nice plays here and there but because your opponent is almost always going to have more than a signal boon at a time depending on build and class then the chances o getting a boon important enough to make a visible difference is small……along with that removing a single boon will always have you in a catch up game were you dont use a skill that gives you a advantage. instead you are taking down there advantage and is essence “catch up” rather than “get ahead”.
what i would like is a little revamp… maybe have the skill steal the boon?. perhaps transfer a condition to the target(s), maybe somethin combining some of those effects? i dont know. but something other that a “catch up” skill would be nice
…….can we not get elder scrolls up in this game…………..
Also I am almost done with twilight. Just need dusk and world c now
I actually think that it looks cooler more higher up. And actually from my opinion the great sword is too low on human.
Ok first off I would like to say that I am a fan of anets work. I mean why else would I be here :P
Anyway I would like to say that I thought this new content of the queen’s gauntlet was going to be a real blast. However due to some circumstances this was not the case. Instead it was and is a very frustrating expirince….the cause of which is not the difficulty and abilitys of some of the mobs…. instead there are some other factors….although there are many factors I can say the biggest of which no doubt is the lag……which is insane and is caused by the placement of the queens gauntlet. Which if you don’t know is right above the queens pavilion. Which I would like to say is the biggest…..BIGGEST LAG INDUSING THING I HAVE EVER….EVER….EVER……EVER…..SEEN!!!!!!. there are tons of 50 +++++player zergs causing tons of lag in the area that they are in.
Now enemy mechanics that require fast reactions, precise timing, and a punishment of nothing less than instant death you can begin to see the problem when lag comes in to play.
Also some of the mechanics are bugged in combinations with lag. For example some things will not render for a few seconds after they were meant to. Which can make some things impossible to win unless you know the future….ya…that bad.
There are a few other things besides lag ..mainly bugs and such. One of which is were every few seconds during random fights you will be knocked back (like from the engineer bomb).
There are also a number of annoyances which I think we can do without. Mainly deaths….with no way of revival unless you got a friend
What I would suggest is as follows
1) Make the queen’s gauntlet instanced!!!!! (and as far away from the zerg feast lag maker: queen’s pavilion as possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
2) Give a timer on the HUD for players to get a good idea of how much time they have left(the “oh will he make it” for reference of how much time you have left is really annoying and getting old)
3) Get rid of the death on lose thing…its really not as fun as it looks…..the fact you don’t get any loot is more than enough of a punishment for losing. And if you wont then at least make a way for some npc to revive them. I am so sick and tired of having to wp and walk all the way back if there is no one to revive me at the arena.
Thoughts?
No idea. Though what really has me wondering about these skins besides that is the fact that there is no difference between the different armor types(heavy, medium, light)
Is anet getting lazy when it comes to skins or what?
I would say that arena net failed if their attempt was to give the player hint of when the pull was to happen due to the fact that it is still unpredictable. Even more infact.
Of course this nerf was called for. Although I would say that 1 sec delay is slightly to harsh. I think that it should be reduced to .75 to .50 delay.
Also when considering the fair ness of the weapon consider the whole weapon. Phantasm warden is underpowered by a horrendous amount .
Focus is still viable. However I would say a buff to phantasm warden is a necessity, as well as maybe a longer duration to the curtain. By 1 second would be fair
Also the effect besides the pull of temporal curtain is kinda useless. Swiftness and cripple are not very handy in combat unless you are trying to get away.
In truth the focus would be useless without its reflect trait.
So all in all phantasm sucks without trait, curtain sucks without trait, but the pull is(was) amazing.
So if you are going to nerf the weapons only strong point traits aside. You best add some counter measures such as buffing what is weak about the weapon so it has more then a single use.
Such as buffing the phantams’s damage, improving the curtains other attributes besides the pull such as adding weekness and fury along with the cripple and swiftness to give it useful battle uses.
Really in comparison to the other off hand weapons the mesmer has the focus is not viable without the pull. So if you want o balance it then give it viabilities besides the pull (and reflects when traited)

the sylvari luminescent glow is very cool and can give your sylvari a nice look.
however what i hate about it is that you only glow at night, and even then it happens only in small 4 second bursts.
what i would like is for the glow to be consistently glowing day or night.
if not at day. then at least make it glow constantly at night.
i would actually like this to be a option in the character creation screen. or a character makeover kit exclusive if you want to make some money anet
i know a lot of sylvari friends that would die to spend money to get this feature in appearance
also please post below what you players think
(edited by Chaos.3579)
i have looked at all of the sex’s or each races, and have seen all of there animations. including their walking animations.
walking animations have 3 variations
the first is the normal walking animation. this is when the player does not have a weapon drawn. it is the same for every race/sex with slight differences.
the second is when the player has a 1hand weapon drawn. this is the same for every race/sex with little differences.
the third is when a greatsword is drawn. with all the races/sex the player will hold the greatsword on his or her shoulder as he or she walks forward…….but sylvari male does not do this.
instead the sylvari male uses the same walking animation as when holding a 1 handed weapon.
this is a glitch. and if it is not i highly doubt thakitten was intentional by arenanet.
though if it is i would like a explanation.
after all. why make sylvari male the only one without the greatsword walking animation?
i know that this is a minor thing. not really game breaking.
though seeing as this game is mmoRPG. role playing does play a key role in the name.
i have tested all races male and female to look at the walking animations after seeing that my sylvari when carrying a greatsword looks a little off. all the rest of the races male or female have the same greatsword walking animation(with slight changes due to race(size)). but the sylvari male is the only one that seams to be different for some reason.
after looking in to this i have found thakittens the exact same walking animation as when u carry a 1 hand weapon.thus i would say that the sylvari male does not have the greatsword walking animation due to bug or something unintentional from arena net……….or maybe arena net just does not like male sylvari :P
i typed its…….so why did it type kitten………..
arena net you have to go over your swear words a couple more times

To explain the topic in the simplest way think like this.
No matter the build your survivability and dps should add up to a effectiveness level equal to that of each build no matter the class.
As of right now the effectiveness of a average dps build is.
Def: 3
Atk. 7
With a total effectiveness factor of 10
While the average tank build has a
Def. 10
Atk 3
With a total effectiveness of 13
But as you can see the effectiveness factors are obviously unequal.
I totally disagree with the idea that tank specs should always outlast and from there always beat dps specs. But I also disagree with the opposite
The opposite being that dps specs should obliterate tank build.
What I think is right is that the total effectiveness factor should be equal and that “the only winner deciding element be that of skill”
So what I want is for builds to be simply a play style, and for all builds to have the same effectiveness
So make dps specs a
Def 3
Atk 7
With a total effectiveness factor of 10
And tank specs a
Def 7
Atk 3
With a total effectiveness factor of 10
And this idea should be used for comparing any 2 builds from any class.
Spec a
Atk 5
Def 5
Total effectiveness of 10
Spec b
Atk 6
Def 4
Total effectiveness 10
When spec a fights spec b it is not decided by build. But by the winning factor :skill
i totally agree with this topic. and not from the idea of opinion. i also have seen with my own eyes proof that tank specs are op, and from there require far less skill than dps specs to be effective.
the big issues are
1)insane amount of survivability that can literally heal/mitigate damage faster than the dps spec can spit out. thus making some tank specs impossible to kill.
2)the amount of damage that a full tank spec can deal is ridiculous when looking at how much raw survivability it has.
a full tank spec which cannot be killed at all by a full glass cannon spec should not have enough damage to kill the full glass cannon spec. and if it should. it should not kill the dps spec faster or slower than the dps spec can kill the tank build.
thats what we call balance. balance of dps to survivability. the only thing that should decide the match is not build but instead skill.
my friend which runs a full tank elementalist i cannot kill with my full glass cannon mesmer. even when i test my dps vs her survivability by attacking her without any retaliation, and her only using survivability(heal/damage mitigation) skills.
after seeing that i could not kill her at all i asked for her build. when she gave it to me i looked at it and did a little math in comparison to my full glass cannon dps spec. what i found is that her tank build would mitigate my damage amazingly well. essentially making almost all of my huge damage combos laughably minimal damage. now although i see nothing wrong with this by itself i also noticed that her regeneration would regenerate any damage she would take. in fact she had as much regeneration ability to heal twice the amount of damage she would have taken after it had been mitigated. meaning that she would literally be unable to die from a single full glass cannon spec.
now this is just her survivability…..lets talk about her dps
now she does not have a lot of dps. not nearly as much as i have. duh
but her default dps is more than enough to kill me.
so what happens when her build fights mine?
its really simple. i dont kill her because i simply cant. its mathematically impossible.
and although it will take a long time for her to kill me. she will eventually kill me. no matter how many mistakes she makes she has more than a godly amount of room to recover. while i dont.
the real issue with most tank builds is that not only do they have a ridiculous amount of damage mitigation. they also have a ridiculous amount of regeneration and healing.
i feel that their damage is were it is suppose to be. but not their survivability in comparison.
overall a tank spec should not be able to take on 4 guys when with the exact same amount of skill a dps spec cannot even take on 3.
11)Weapon sigils.
My main sigil is energy. I have 1 energy sigil on my greatsword and another on my focus. The sigil of energy is simply amazing for mesmer with the clones on dodge trait, and really being able to dodge twice as much can make you feel untouchable if you know what you are doing.
The last sigil(on the mainhand sword) is up to you. I would suggest accuracy or sigil of perception.
And I would advise not using a sigil that procs because if you do then sometimes when you swap weapons the energy sigil will not kick in.
12)Runes.
Really the rune is up to you. I would suggest keeping one that gives you at least 10 critical damage. The best ones I think are runes of rage rune of divinity, and ruby orbs(for those of you who are poor)
I personally use ruby orbs.
Well that’s my walk through for my build. Hope you enjoyed it. Good luck with your new mesmer build.
-The Prince Of Chaos
(edited by Chaos.3579)
6) the heal.
Really I would suggest only going with either feast. The rest of the heals just can’t compare to the amount healed. I would suggest that you wait until you have 3 -2 illusions out so as to get the most out of your heal.
You will also have a trait that will remove a condition when u heal. Although this will seem week at first you will find that it is very useful to get rid of confusion weakness crippled immobilize and many more
7) phantasmal disenchanter
This is going to be our main condition removal. This skill is actually the best utility condition removal in the game. It removes boons from them. Conditions from you. Has a very low cool down(even more so when traited. Like we are) does around 300-700 damage, and can be used for your shatters. Really it can’t get any better than that.
8)decoy.
This is going to be your main source of survival. Because we are traited this skill will be on a 32 secound cool down instead of a 40 secound cool down. This skill is simply amazing. It will break stuns. Break target. Allow you time to heal/summon phantasms (phantasms will not break you out of stealth) and best of all because of the low cool down you will be a slippery ninja in the day giving nightmares to any poor soul stupid enuf to cross your path.
9 )blink.
This skill is for many things. But the biggest of reasons is 1 its A stun breaker. Which will save your life more times than you can count, and 2. It is a perfect counter for immobilize and crippled, and can be used to get you out of a sticky situation.
10) mass invisability
There are many good mesmer elites. Moa morph can be a game ending if it hits. But it can be a kitten if it does not hit. That cool down makes this skill very inconsistent and will most of the time be useless in team fights. Or against people that actually know what they are doing.
Time warp is good but the cool down makes this skill inconsistent as well. And because of the new nerf to quickness it really is not worth it.
Mass invis however is a nice all around skill. I would consider it more of a utility skill however. It has the Same cool down as vale. But gives 1 second more invis. Because of the moderately low cool down for a elite skill you can be sure that you will use this skill 2-3 times a fight. And invis for a mesmer means mental pain for the enemy. Which can be fun to watch XD
A word of advice though. It has a pretty long cast time. So make sure you have some way of defending yourself so you will not be interrupted. I use distortion, diversion, and the mesmer focus pull( can be used mid cast if you have curtain down already)
(edited by Chaos.3579)
5) focus
Oh my gosh I’ve been dieing to talk about the focus. It is personally my favorite weapon to combo with 1h sword. Now don’t get me wrong it does not do nearly as much single target damage as the pistol or the offhand sword. But it makes up for that in a amazing amount of utility when traited, and a good amount of small aoe damage if used correctly when doing a combo with 1h sword
But enuf of that. Lets talk about what the focus can do
Firstly the projectile reflect trait. Which I think is a must have if you are running around with focus. This trait is just spot on amazing. It counters nearly any ranged build and makes it backfire. I have to say that it is always amusing watching a glass cannon ranger rip itself apart from just 1 simple skill.
The temporal curtain although looks bad with just a crippled and a swiftness actually has a lot of uses. The biggest of which is that you can lay down the curtain and essentially make a anti projectile shield…that reflects. This one skill can make so many builds kill themselves e.g. engineers,rifle/bow warriors, rangers, pistol pistol condition thieves, and many many more. And all that while defending you. It’s a perfect shield that is also a sword.
In to the void is actually were the fun starts though. This pull is simply amazing. It is in truth the best pull/push in the game. It is aoe, It can be used as a push or pull depending on placement, it can interupt multiple people from a good range, it has it all. But really the true potential in this weapon is not just the pull by itself. It actually starts to be godly when you start combing other skills with it.
A great combo is to use the pull to push a person in to your range of the leap/swap and then to blurred frenzy them essentially increasing some of your attacks effective range.
The phantasmal warden is good. But it is stationary. It’s only use alone is to use it as a barrier to stop projectiles. But if you get a target in to its aoe that target will usually take around 3-5k damage. Which is a lot. Not as much as the offhand sword phantasm. But it does have something that the offhand sword phantasms does not, and that aoe damage. A huge amount of aoe damage. The only problem is getting the targets in to the aoe and keeping them there. That’s we’re the main hand sword and focus pull come in.
What I am going to tell you is my own personal combo that I came up with. It takes some skill to use effectively but it is amazing when you get the hang of it.
The first step is to use the curtain in range of the target(s).(try and get in in a point that would pull a lot of targets to a single point). after that start summoning illusionary warden then right when the wardens about to be summoned use the pull. If done correctly what will happen is all the targets will be in the aoe of illusionary warden. Now the last step is to just get them all to stay there. That’s we’re the sword leap swap comes in. You leap and swap to the target, and because the immobilize is aoe most to all of the targets will be stuck. Getting hit for 5k from the warden alone. You then use blurred frenzy to add 4 more k to the damage. After the 3 seconds go by shatter. Make sure to allow warden to hit as much as she can before shattering.
If the targets are not on the ground by now you can be sure that they took one hell of a hit…the best part about this combo is that it can be done every 20 secounds.
(edited by Chaos.3579)
4) 1hand sword
With this build your auto attack will be doing 1k-1.5-2k with each swing. But because you are a glass cannon you will be taking more damage then its worth to stay in melee range for long. But even so don’t be scared to get a few auto attacks in every once in a while to show them who’s boss
Also its good to get a boon off that you don’t want them to have. A good tactic is to use your decoy and then pretend to be a clone. You should get in 1-2 auto attack chains before they know what’s going on.
Blurred frenzy is going to be your amazing spiked shield. It will be doing 3k to 4-5k depending on how much of it crits. I would suggest to keep it off cool down unless you need it or if after using your leap swap blurred frenzy embrass of death you have some survivability skill to use.
Because you will not be auto attacking much. Make sure to get this skill in as much as you can. But be smart about when you use it. Because you will often find situations that you wished you had not spammed the skill.
The leap/swap skill is one of my favorite skills that the mesmer has. After much experimentation with this skill I have found so many uses that most Mesmers would not even think possible.hmmm let’s talk about the leap first
Leap actually has many uses. The crippled…..is not one of them XD
The first tactic that most Mesmers use is just spamming leap and swap to then tie in blurred frenzy. This is good but it loses nearly all of its potential like that.
A good tactic to use is to use leap then shatter. This opens up a lot of options firstly you could daze the target to interrupt them. You could mind wrack them for 1-3k damage on the spot, and so on. But the cool thing about leap is that werever the leap clone dies is were the swap will take you. Meaning you could leap mind wrack dodge backwards. Then when the enemy charges you, you can swap and teleport behind them. This does have a limitation though. It will only teleport you 600 in the direction of we’re the leap clone died/is. Lets talk about swap now. I would suggest that when using this skill that you keep a eye on we’re that leap clone is/were it died. Because you can use that teleport many ways. My tip is to use this strategically.
Swap is really all the fun in 1h sword. A good combo that any mesmer should know is to immobilize then blurr frenzy them. But a amazing use that I have found is not the immobilize. It’s actually that swap is a stun breaker.
That’s right A STUN BREAKER. Meaning that for a example if a thief charges up his basilisk venom. I could simply use leap, wait for the B venom to hit then use swap. Breaking me out of the stun, immobilizing the thief, and setting me up for a nice mind wrack blurred frenzy combo. Really the swap can be used for many things (Teleports, immobilize. ) but really the stun breaker makes this skill amazing in combat.
A word of advice though. Make sure that you have your timing right. Because you will need to use swap not to fast so as to allow you to use the swap, and not to slow because well…..if you get stunned you won’t be able to use leap, and from there swap.

This is my own personal Mesmer build. I have spent much time working and perfecting it. I have finally decided to come out with my build that I have been working on for such a long time. All I ask is that if you choose to use my build that you do not take credit for it and instead give credit to whom it belongs. Which is me.
Thank you and please have fun with the build

The Prince Of Chaos mesmer build
0) intro
This is the direct damage glass cannon build that I “The Prince Of Chaos” uses. Being a direct damage build it does not use conditions as the main source of damage like most mesmer builds do, and instead uses direct damage. Being a full glass cannon means that you will hit amazingly hard. But you will also have very little armor and vitality. Though this is a very small problem to a skilled mesmer. The proper use of distortion, stealth, and survivability utility will make up for that lack of armor and health.
1) power, precision, critical.
With this build you should have nearly 100 percent critical damage. What this means is that on any critical hit (phantasms attacks included) you will be doing twice as much damage. You should also have at least 50% critical hit chance meaning half of the time you will critical hit, and from that half of the time you will be doing twice as much damage. Also with this build your power will be near max. Meaning that your non crits will hit hard, and your critical hits will hit even harder.
3) greatsword
This is going to be your ranged dps weapon. For the auto attack you should and will be doing 1k to 2k depending on if it all crits or not.
Mirror blade is going to be a great damage dealer because of the bounce. Make sure to use It at medium range so as to get the bounce resulting in it hitting twice.
I don’t spam mirror blade. I find that if I throw mirror blade at the enemy right when he’s about to heal or do an action I can stop. The mirror blade will hit him or her, and then I hit diversion. Because the clones is summoned right next to the target I can use diversion to daze and interupt the heal or action that I don’t want them to complete immediately.
Though the best use of mirror blade is the fact that it is unblock able. Making it great for getting a hit in when they think they are safe.
Mind stab does a good amount of damage. The boon ripping is not amazing. Though it does have some uses getting off stability, regeneration, protection, swiftness, really ita just a good way to get rid of the enemy’s advantage.
The phantasmal berserker is amazing, and is going to be the big hitter when u are at long range. Because it has your power, prec, and citical damage it is going to hit very very hard. Harder than a phantasm build even. Though because you will not have any vitality or toughness the phantasms will die after 1-2 attacks. So knowing when to shatter so as to get full use of your phantasms is vital.
The illusionary wave is really good in the hands of a skilled mesmer. It’s a great cc. It allows you to clear a capture point in spvp. Push people of cliffs in wvw. And interupt multiple people within medium range.
(edited by Chaos.3579)
This would be a really nice idea. Thums up
As already said
Making Sword #1-3 steal boons would be overpowered. Even if clones would steal it to themselves, adding this into an auto-attack is just wrong.
Changing GS#3 would be interesting. But it’d be questionable, too. Hitting a single target and stealing a random boon would make this skill probably worthy. But using it on a group and stealing multiple buffs would be wrong, too.
Speaking as a mesmer main here.
I did not say sword 1-3 steals boons……..I really don’t know we’re you people are getting these conclusions….
The only boon ripping on 1h sword is the final attack of the sword auto chain. It takes a little bit of Time to get to that attack. Most Mesmers don’t even get the chance to get to the third attack because of how vulnerable they will be that close.
If clones had the same effect the boon should not go to the mesmer. I got that. But not because its OP. because it just makes sense. The clones are their own individual. A week individual. But a individual none the less. So as such the clone would gain any buffs and effects from their auto attack, and not the mesmer(unless it bounces).
But if the boon was given to the mesmer when a 1h sword clone finishes its auto attack would it be OP? I don’t because even if you got out 3 1hs clones they will not land the third hit if their target is moving. They will hit maybe sword auto 1-2 but as soon as ther target gets out of range they are back to sword auto 1 again. On top of that the creation of sword clones is pathetically small. You only have sword 3(leap), and the clone on dodge trait. The sword clone creation is not really amazing at 8 secounds, and the clone on dodge is good but wasting dodges just for the sake of clone creation can cause more bad than good for the mesmer
But enuf of that. I agree with you. The mesmer should not gain the boons his or her clones remove from the target(s). But not because it would be OP. because it would not be op. instead because it just does not make sense otherwise.
As for greatsword 3 mind stab IT IS HARD to land on a moving target(which is what I said before.) and guess what most targets are going to be moving.
On a stationary target hitting it is easy..though hitting anything stationary with anything Is easy.
Hitting a moving target with mind stab is not the hardest thing in the world. But it does have a difficultly. I would say on a moving target you will half of the time land the hit, and the other half of the time will usually be a miss.
Knowing this would it not be Fair to the mesmer to be rewarded if he or she was able to get more than 1 target in to the aoe of mind stab? And let’s look at the facts of that situation.
Mesmer rips 2 boons off of 2 players(who cares, same as before)
Mesmer gains 2 random boons from the 2 players( woppty kitten dooo its not going to be game changing)
But weapons skills aside would this effect be OP?
The boon removal is not. Hell its hardly noticeable. So would adding 1 boon every 10 secs be OP? The only boons that would be noteworthy that the mesmer could steal would be stability and protection. Maybe regeneration. But really any player that has these boons will most likely have more., and because the boon removed is random it would be fair.

I like your idea of being able to make gold in spvp.
I personally would like gambling in the game. Like tourney gambling. Pay 5 gold each for a chance to get 10 gold back each if you win.
Or a 1v1 tournament system. We’re 8 people pop in and the winner gets a item or gold. Maybe you have to pay gold to get in to the bigger tournys.
I would really love if there was something like once a week everyone at a specific Time could enter in a 1v1 single elimination tournament( like over a 100,000 people enter and only 1 wins). And whoever wins that tourny gets a legendary weapon for pve.
The reason it is not in options is because of thieves and Mesmers. Mostly Mesmers
If you could have this “sticky targeting” Mesmers clones would be uselss
I guess they could do that….but really it would not look good. The legendary great swords are already huge for any race.
Hahahaha
Sorry the idea of a tiny tiny azura with a huge greatsword makes me laugh XD
Nice idea. They could probably add something in the gem store like this. (“At arenanet” “wink wink”)
Could see them making “Steal the boons you strip from foes” a Grandmaster trait.
Straight up boon stealing for all weapon skills? Nah.
I did not say boon stealing for all weapon skills……don’t know we’re you got that.
Also if this is added it should not be a trait. It should be on as default.
There are only 2 boon ripping weapon skills the mesmer has. Greatsword 3 and sword auto attack finisher. Both of which are very hard to land(hard to get to the finisher with sword auto, and the aoe for greatsword 3 is as small as a needle and is hard to hit a moving target with
Seeing as It is hard to land the blow, and that boon ripping is not really note worthy. Making it boon stealing instead would make it note worthy
It would not be OP because
1) it is hard to land greatsword 3, and sword auto finisher in the first place.
2)cannot be spammed
3)the boon stolen would be random of the boons the target has(just like how the boon ripping is like now)
4)a single boon would not be game changing. Maybe a stability or protection. Though that would be just a lucky draw from the boons your opponent has, and would not be
It could be very good if you get more than 1 person in the greatsword 3 or the sword auto attack. But really it would be rare and very hard to do so.
Overall It would change the nearly usless boon ripping to something that would be unique and useful, and it would fit the mesmer lore and look perfectly.

The fact that there are so many threads on this makes me sad.
Sad because WHY THE HELL IS THIS NOT IN THE GAME ALREADY!!!!!!
Gosh more than 60 % of the players want dueling. Piece of advice: GIVE IT TO THEM ALREADY!!!!
Don’t know what to do?
Step 1) make it so that you can right click a player in pve and hit a option to duel. After that the player clicked will get the accept duel option yes or no.
Also a command /duel (name). Or /duel @ when the player is selected
2)Make a option in settings that allows players to block any and all duel requests in settings.(for those that have no skill and are easily annoyed)
3) Make it so that people cannot duel in major cities (unless in a specific area at a certain distance from people), and areas with major events
For the actually dueling there is first the request/accept,decline. Then they both get out of 1200 range from each other(duel will not start unless this requirement is met). After that both players will get a thing asking them if they are ready.
When both players hit ready there will be a timer in the middle of the screen counting down from 5. After the timer ends the duel begins.
The duel ends when a player is downed!!!!!!. There is no downed state. That is only good for pve not pvp.
After the player is downed the duel ends. A winner and loser is showed, and both the players are then fully revived
There. done. Simple and easy
People that want duels for pve have it. People that want nothing to do with it can have nothing to do with it.
I know that anet will probably come up with some gem store item that does the exact same thing as what I have typed above.
To that idea I tell anet STOP. DON’T YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.
Anet you should only add things that people want in the gem store. Not things that people want but should already have!!!!!

Right now the only boon ripping a mesmer has is greatsword 3(minds stab) http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mind_Stab
And main hand sword (mind spike)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mind_Spike
As of right now this boon ripping effect is not really note worthy.
But if it steals the boon instead of just ripping it. Then it would be a decent effect that would fit the mesmer perfectly.
It would not really be overpowered seeing as the boon it steals would be random of the boons that the targets has. As well as how hard it is to actually land mind stab, and to get to the third chain of the 1h sword mind spike.
As I see it these skills right now are ok. A little under average but ok.
If a boon stealing effect replaced the boon ripping effect. Then the effect would be average.
In fact It would allow the mesmer to gain a advantage over the opponent instead of simply reducing the opponents advantage.
Thoughts?

“A condition that punishes those that do not pay attention”
I have to agree and disagree with this idea.
This condition damages people that don’t know they have the condition. Or simply don’t have the condition removal to care.
before the patch the condition was punishing far too much after the player received 4 or more stacks. To the average player that person would die from that many stacks easily.
The confusion condition before the patch was the most powerful condition in the game.
The idea that you should not attack when u have this condition is idiotic. Simply because what would you do? It is not only offensive attacks that cause damage on use but defensive ones also. Any and all skills in fact!!!! So tell me what would you do when activating any skill would cause you 1-3k damage. Just sit there and do nothing?
The confusion condition is not just powerful because it causes damage. It can also stop the opponent from attacking if applied at a good low % of health.
With the new patch the confusion condition does a good amount of damage. Yet It will no longer destroy everyone with ease.
If people use there skills they will not be punished so brutally from it. Yet they will take a reasonable amount of damage for using their skills.
So all in all. Before patch OP
After patch ok

Hmmm. There are no models for different races for azura charr and norn. However the sylvari and human both use the same model. Thus a human cultural armor could work on a sylvari, and vice versa. Though If it has some kind of limitation that stops any char. From using it if its a different race. Then it would not work..
Can someone test if you can equip human cult. On a sylvari. I want the tier 3 light shoulders on my sylvari mesmer….I would suggest if you test it that you only do tier 1…..the prices are a little steep
A interesting idea. Though I can see a lot of trouble with exploits. Such as putting it at the end of a Jp so people could just wp and finish it. Or placing it in a big mob spot to stop mobs from spawning for whatever reason.
If they make it so that you can only place them in specific areas I can see it working….though that takes work.
Thus it will never happen……well unless they make it a gem store item
Hello.
I would like to report a couple of bugs that I have found over the past few days.
I believe that these bugs have only started to appear after the wvwvw update(the one that adds wvw ranks) though I may be wrong
The bugs are as follows
1) when shattering there is a checker board like patter where the illusion shattered.
(this usually happens when 2 or 3 illusions shatter very close to each other)
2) sometimes when a clone is summoned it for some reason will not have the same armor or even model of the mesmer. This bug also will happen with thieves when they come out of stealth. Or really anytime a AI or player is rendered.( this glitch although it does not happen all the time will in some cases give away the real mesmer if the opponent catches it.)
3)(THIS ONE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT.)
Sometimes the Mesmers phantasms will spawn with a clone skin. Sometimes the name will be that Of the phantasms. Other times the clones. Though in any case when this bug takes place it both confuses the opponent if the opponent expected a phantasm, And can take the opponent by surprise when the phantasms does a devastating attack.
I hope that all these bugs will be fixed soon. Though if not all then I would at least ask that bug 2 and most importantly 3 get fixed.
Thanks for reading
I believe that there should be 2 ways to get a legendary.
The first original way. the grinding path. The one in which will take countless hours of grinding in many different parts of the game. But requires absolutely no skill. Only luck and time….and the cost of losing ones social life in the real world XD
The secound would be one that would take some time. But only a minute in comparison to the first method. This path is one that although takes a little grinding is sololy reliant on ones own skill. This methods would be through some kind of pvp tournament inside the pve realm. This tournament could take place many ways. My idea of how it should take place is once a week or day. On a specific time of a day you can enter a tournament in which you will fight 1v1 against another competitor. If you lose you will be knocked down and will be out of the tourny. If you win then you will fight one of the other victors. Then if you win that you will fight another victor, and so on and so forth.
This will continue until only 1 remains. That person would receive any 1 legendary he or she wishes. And would gain fame for his or her skill as that persons name would be put up somewhere saying he or she was the winner of that month or week or day. Depending on how often the tournament is held. You could also have a 3 person winner per day were third get 1 legendary,2nd gets 2 legendays, and first gets 3 legendarys.
I know many would be against 1v1. but really there is no way to allow a team to enter when only 1 legendary would be given. Also it really should only be by that 1 persons skill alone.
This way a person without pvp skill would be able to get his or her legendary through time, and a person with a godly amount of pvp skill would be able to get his or her legendary through skill.
I consider myself very skilled, and I would die for the chance to be able to get at a legendary not by luck. Not by time and grinding, but by the skill I have with the sword I control with my keybord XD

If they made it so that you could earn something in spvp that you could use in pve I would be in before they released it.
I wish they would add a tourney or pvp system for pve like the one in spvp. One in which you could earn items, gold, or skins.
I always hated the way that you can only get legendary weapons. It’s always hard work and has nothing to do with skill.
If they added something pvp like to pve in which I could have a chance to get a legendary weapon or gold with nothing but skill alone. I would love it!!!!!
No it’s not worth switching back. If you wanted as much damage as you could get then ruby orbs were the choice to go with for raw damage. But divinity runes are very pricey. I suggest that if you want to switch you get another set of exotic amor and put the orbs on that.
Though in comparison between divinity and ruby orbs. The only difference other than the price is 2 crit chance and 60 power. 60 power is not much. Also you will get 60 condition damage with divinity. Which should even that out anyway.
Overall divinity is the better choice. The damage difference is not noticeable. In fact it’s nearly impossible to decide which one does more damage considering the condition damage boost from divinity.
And that’s just the damage between the 2. Divinity has more stuff like vitality.
So overall
Divinity. Ruby orbs
Damage: 5. To 5.1
Other. 10. To 0
Price. Wtf omg. To Cheep cheep
Those are the facts
Really if divinity was as cheep as ruby orbs. Divinity would be used more
They need to add double confirmation for precursors and legendaries, like “OMG you really, really want to do this?” or smthng ;D
i completely agree. really the fact that we only have 1 confirmation on those thing that really for whatever reason besides just absolute madness should not be salvaged.
because the only other reason that a precursor or a legendary would be salvaged is by accident as it happened to me
I think it should have a unique skin once in your inventory to signal to players “Hey, you got something rare here!” As well as the other precursors. To have them disguised as other common blues or whites is just kind of cruel.
i thought this too
i would not have salvaged it if i saw something other than the crap greatsword pic
i believe that it dropped from wvw. though i did do a citedel of flame path 1 farm earlier the day i salveged the dusk. though i was very sure i salvaged everything from that run. but it may have been from cof
[part 2]
at that moment my fears were confirmed…i the Commander “The Prince Of Chaos” had salvaged a dusk……
i instantly clicked my push to talk button on my computer to transmit my voice through team speak 3 to the rest of my guild that was in the same Chanel as me ( around 5-10 people), and interrupting there conversation which i had not even entered yet by yelling the F word for as long and as loud as i could!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…..all my guildies were stunned and there conversation silenced with that 1 word that i spoke with such passion and feeling…..a few moments later one of my guildies said " wuts wrong?“…
after a few seconds i said the words so quietly..”i" …“salvaged”……“DUSK”……
i at first thought that that i had said the words to softly for them to here me. but i was wrong as after a few seconds 4 voices started saying words of unbelievability "OMG. NO WAY, WAIT WUT?, ARE U JOKING?.
after a few minutes of explaining the same thing to my guild that i have explained to you they finally said “wut are u going to do?”…i responded a few moments after “i dont know. i know that this is just a game. so i am not going to loose my mind about this. but ultimately i don’t think that i can do anything.” one of my guildies and a close friend said “well you can put up a ticket explaining the situation in support”. seeing as i had nothing to lose i went ahead with his advice.
but even so fresh thoughts in my head were still more than alive
i had lost a dusk at the same moment that i had attained it…
you may be wondering the reason why i am telling you this…..the reason i am telling you this is the same reason why i shouldn’t not tell you this.
no that is not a joke.
why would i not tell you this?
i know that i most likely will not get back my dusk. that is how arena net operates with these kind of things, and in fact i like them for that “its the players fault” attitude.
, and really this was my fault. i take full responsibility and know that the blame cannot be set on anyone else. so i know that i may not get my dusk back, and i really don’t care that much. i mean this wont be the last mmo i play. eventually all the items in here will be worthless to me…though the memory’s good or bad will always stay
i do not know if arena net tracks wut drops for people. or if they keep track of wut thay salvage…probably not because that amount of information would be insane.
however they can track my trading post buys and sells. as well as my inventory in my bank and bags. knowing this how many weapons could have droped for me that would give superior sigil of rage?…….as it turns out..alot lol…so i guess im out of luck for proving that i did get dusk there as well XD
anyway i hope that you got a kick out of my story. i know that some of you will laugh at my mistake(i know i did after the shock wore off lol)
and i know that some will sympathize for me. which i ask for you to not. after all its just a game.
anyway thanks for reading my story all the way to the end. good by
[part 1]
my tale begins here….or yesterday lol
yesterday i was commanding a group of around 15-25 people( my commanders name is " The Prince Of Chaos"). it was after the asian guilds on my server of dragon brand had taken the entire map on yaks bend borderland. our mission during that time was to simply watch the map and keep our dominance and key locations secure. we got in many battles with yaks bend and sos, and got much loot. we even had to take back BAY from the yaks…….
anyway today early in the morning, the day after i commanded. i was salvaging the blues and greens from my bags (because they are crap to me . as they are to most level 80 exotic players), and….do you know how when u salvage a green that you will instinctively click accept when it asks you if you are sure? well anyway i was in a trance and raw instinct like state were i would just click anything that was in my 2 15 slot winters day bags and salvage it.( i do this because i know that i will almost always get crap….i do sometimes check my bags…but sadly i was lazy this one horrific day. today i would not really look at the name and just salvage it…………)
i did not know i had dusk…..or at least until it was too late…
for you see after the 2nd or 3rd item i salvaged with a journeyman’s salvage kit. i hit to salvage dusk!!!…by accident of course.(not knowing it was dusk or even a exotic) and click accept as i always do instinctively with green items. you see dusk does not have a unique item picture, and instead has one of the most common ones…thus…..i would not notice i had it just from looking at my bags like i would with dawn.
during the time spanning less than a second between my clicking the item with the salvage kit and hitting accept. i saw as if as a slow motion horror scene…DUSK!!!!!!!!!…..in vibrant orange color………but…….sadly…
it was salvaged before i could stop my instinctive self……………………….
the first 10 seconds after salvaging it “I was in shock”…….“i could not move i could not breathe”……..i at first thought that maybe it was not dusk and instead another item and my mind was playing tricks on me….but i could still absolutely remember as if a screen shot burned in to my brain the word in bright orange “DUSK”………….
i even checked my inventory to see wut i got from salvaging it to somehow give me a confirmation to avert my fear……i got 2 globs of ectoplasm….confirming that it was a exotic because i used a journymans salvage kit, and a journymans salvage kit can only get globs of ecto from a exotic item that is at least 70…..this left me worried but not completely sure….
then as if a monster from a nightmare had jumped from my computer terminal….i saw a superior sigil of rage………..the sigil that comes with dusk……is…….a….superior……sigil…..of…..rage!!!!!!!
(continued in part 2)
(edited by Chaos.3579)
I agree!!!!!!!!…..no I don’t dude. No offense but every one should have a fair chance to get in to wvw regardless of level or gear.
NOW SHUT UP AND GET IN LINE SOLDIER!!!!!!!!
I know me and many other Mesmers have at least once wasted a portal because they did not know they were out of range. Unlike portal most skills have a little red bar under the skill if it is out of range. I want this “red bar” under portal exeunt if the mesmer goes to far from the portal entre
Well there’s my suggestion put plain and simple. It should be very easy to implement.
Comments? Things you’d like to add that I missed? Please post them below
(edited by Chaos.3579)
Adding more skins although would be cool. Does not solve the problem. Simply because I as a light armor profession would not be able to ware the cool heavy armor. I do not want the armor stats from the heavy armor. JUST THE SKIN.
I know that it may be trouble to implement, and it may screw up the lore if Mesmers are wearing heavy armor, and warriors wearing cloth. But come on. Lore should be in books, and roles should be in gamplay. Not the cosmetics.
Thoughts on making it so all the skins in the game can be used by all professions(skins not stats)
Basically I want the ability to transmute a light piece of armor with a heavy piece of armor for the skin. This would allow people to have 3 times the amount of skins they had before hand.
I know this would screw up the lore if a elementalist was walking around in a suit of metal armor. But let’s face it. This part of the lore Is not really fun to have it. The only role playing we need is in the gamplay not the skins.
A new tab could be added that has that items armor tier. Which could be clicked when transmuting for the armor tier you want.
Well wut do you guys think. Good idea? Bad idea? Why?
Everyone transmutes it, few people actually use PVT. The look you’re saving when transmuting keeps the name and cool shiny look, whilst getting the stats of the exotic gear you’re mashing it with. Practice on some low level gear just to see the mechanic, but it’s very simple! :]
P.S. you do lose the purple name though, which only really matters if you’ve got it for pure bragging rights to link to other people.
What about the effect updates if any come. Will I get any effect update to my legendary if I transmute it?
